from 5+1 eddie dating fic:

Vanessa's...pretty.

She's tall and slender and she has a contagious laugh, and in another life Eddie thinks that...maybe. Probably. They'd have had a couple more drinks together, both letting go of their inhibitions. She'd probably have found some excuse to touch him, a playful swat, and Eddie would've turned up the smoulder. He'd have waited for her uber with her at the end of the night, wrapping his jacket around her. Then he would've locked eyes with her, a question speaking a thousand words as he leaned in, their noses brushing, but—

But Vanessa's not over her ex, she says. Her smile is pretty too, as apologetic as it is as she tells him you're a really nice guy, Eddie. Eddie thinks he should feel disappointed— hurt, maybe. At the fact he got dressed up so nice for someone to not even give him the time of day. But he doesn't. He just feels relieved. His shoulders drop as he downs the rest of his drink, and all he can think of is home and bed and Christopher's science project and Buck's lasagne and—

Eddie doesn't know what to do with all of that.

Opening his eyes is a feat in and of itself, feeling like there's weights on both of them. He blinks a couple of times, disoriented. He can't quite put his finger on why, yet, but everything just screams wrong. He tries to move past the pounding in his head to figure out what happened as he slowly sits up, coughing and spluttering as he looks around. They were on their way to the hospital, Chim was working on the patient—

Eddie's blood turns to ice instantly. Chimney.

"Chim!" Eddie shouts, a hoarse thing that's swallowed by a cough. He looks around frantically, the lack of light in the back of the ambulance serving to aid the nasty concussion he probably has brewing. A pained groan cuts through the air, making Eddie stop in his tracks. "Chim?"

"'m here." a quiet voice mumbles. "Can't get up though."

"Okay, alright, stay where you are." Eddie says, climbing over the medical equipment strewn on the floor. "Are you hurt?"

Silence fills the ambulance for a few seconds, an uneasy feeling settling in Eddie's gut. "Chim?"

"Eddie, I— hah, I'm bleeding."

"How bad?" Eddie demands, throwing miscellaneous medical equipment over his shoulder, nausea filling his gut as he sees a small puddle of red spreading across the side of the ambulance, a sick imitation of a work of art.

"I'd say pretty bad."

i haven't worked on this one in a while but maybe this will help motivate me, have what i have for buddie 5+1 touches

Touch was common between Eddie and Buck, much to Buck’s eternal inner turmoil.

He both loved it and hated it that they were so touchy feely with each other. On one hand, touching Eddie was ninety percent of what Buck wanted to do with his day. On the other, it was always just shy of how Buck actually wanted to touch him.

The light taps and affectionate swats weren’t enough. Buck needed more.

But…he couldn’t have it. Eddie didn’t feel that way about him and he wasn’t about to go ruin the best relationship in his life just because he wanted a romantic element to it. No way. Instead he would take what he could get and be happy with that. And for a while that worked! Buck was happy. He had his sister, his team, and Eddie and Christopher. That was enough.

And if sometimes he let himself think of what it would be like to have Eddie the way he really wanted him, well that was no one’s business but his own. It’s just…they fit together so well. They were almost always in sync, they’d only ever fought a handful of times, and Buck truly believed that Eddie was his person. Even if they never got together, no one would fill that spot in his life because it was shaped like Eddie.

Despite knowing all that, Buck sometimes struggled with his crush. Having Eddie so close and not being able to act the way he wanted to act was hard. Their shoulders were always touching, knocking as they walked side by side. They gravitated towards each other and personal space was almost non-existent between them. It fucking killed Buck. Eddie was so close and yet so far.

another snippet from calls fic which i think is just gonna haunt me forever asdfghjkl

“You good?” Eddie asks when it’s been silent for too long, praying that the complexities swirling inside him aren’t present in his voice. If anyone could hear them, it would be Buck.

“What? Yeah, yeah, sorry, just–tired.”

Eddie is pretty sure tired isn’t what Buck was originally going to say.

Buck has the uncanny ability to steer people, including himself, away from what’s really going on inside his head, masterful at the craft of saying things that aren’t necessarily true but aren’t exactly lies either, euphemisms spilling from his mouth like sanctified honesty, so very hard not to believe.

And Eddie has learned how to navigate this for the most part, knows when he needs to push and when he needs to hold back, knows when Buck wants him to offer something he can take whether it’s advice or sympathy or an opinion and when Buck needs him to deflect, to amuse, to lighten their circumstances enough that Buck can breathe.

Admittedly, Eddie doesn’t always do what Buck wants or needs in these situations, because he is only human and stubborn and willful and at times dangerously affirmed of his own thoughts and occasionally frustrated easily enough that he will give no thought to how he should structure his sentences, often straddling the line between being careful with Buck but also not treating him like he’s fragile, but right now, well, right now Eddie has the feeling that a strong gust of wind could knock Buck over, so he treads delicately.

“I, uh–” Buck coughs and there’s some rustling in the background, a familiar enough sound that lets Eddie know Buck is currently sitting on his couch. “I just got home and realized I kinda forgot about our usual Thursday dinner.”

Eddie tuts as loud as he can into the phone, leaning back against the counter so it digs into the bottom of his back. “A truly unforgivable offense, Buckley. Not sure how Chris and I will recover.”

Banter is easiest. Banter he can do. It’s the thing they use most often with each other, because it’s fun, yes, but also because it’s the only thing they really know how to do properly. They can fully lean into it because there are no expectations or consequences, it’s just–them, being silly and teasing because it makes the other feel better and because anything else might be too soft or too harsh to bear.

illicit affairs

buddie | E | chapter 1 of 8(ish) | 3k | just a boy helping his boy bestie figure out gay sex, with a side of infidelity This is how it starts: Buck goes on a date with Tommy. How it goes from there, Eddie can't even begin to explain.

Chapter 1: born from just one single glance

It’s in the aftermath, when Bobby and Athena are safe and being checked over and the 118 plus family and friends is piled in the waiting room as usual — they all have their preferred chairs with how often they’re here — that Eddie’s unfocused mild interest in this new guy who his friends trust, turns to sharp notice. 

Eddie has to step away to call Carla, to let her know they got Athena and Bobby, to assure her that he’s fine, Buck’s fine, they’re all fine. And then he spares an extra moment to text Marisol because he knows she’ll see the news soon, if she hasn’t already, and will worry.

After, when he returns to the waiting room, Tommy’s in his seat. Eddie doesn’t really have a specific one he favors so much as he always takes one next to Buck. So, it follows that, Tommy is now sitting beside Buck. 

When Eddie left, Buck’d been pale-faced, and shaky in a way he wasn’t when Bobby was missing and he had a goal to focus on. Eddie hadn’t wanted to leave him, but it was Buck who’d said didn’t he need to call Carla? Let Chris know they’re okay?

Eddie pauses across the room and regards the scene before him. Tommy is leaned in, chatting to Buck, making wide, expressive gestures with his hands as he does. Buck’s still more grey than pink in the cheeks and one hand is clutching the arm of his chair, but he’s stopped picking at the patch of peeling paint he’s about tripled in size over their past handful of waiting room residences and there’s a hint of a smile curling the side of his mouth, which had been a grim line before, waiting for the doctor to report back on Bobby and Athena, waiting to be allowed to see them. 

“He’s in good hands.”

Eddie starts at Hen’s words. She appears from behind him carrying two paper cups of what Eddie understands from experience is the worst coffee known to man. He used to force it down because caffeine is caffeine, but he can’t anymore. It reminds him too much of the three minutes and seventeen seconds that were some of the worst of his life.

Eddie’s wanted to do that for so long, the strands soft between his fingers. It’s been a little while since Buck last cut his hair and Eddie hopes that he decides to let them grow out a little more.  A pleasant warmth floods through his body. He would spend the rest of his life in this moment if he could.

Eddie is stunned speechless, unable to turn his gaze away from the ring. “You ran away in the middle of the night,” he finally manages to croak out. “I know, and I’m sorry.” For what it’s worth, Buck does actually look ashamed at his past actions. “But I panicked, because that was the first time that I realised what wanting to spend the rest of my life with you actually meant.”

I'm excited to finish writing Chapter 5 because a lot happened in Chapter 4. After the Buckley-Diazes moved into their new home, Buck and Eddie found out their surrogate is pregnant and they had a housewarming party. They invited their found family from the 118 and they revealed the news to them during the event. They called their biological families and instead of inviting them, they decided it would be best for them to wait until Thanksgiving since the Buckley parents and the Diazes had already planned to be in Los Angeles.

One week before the holiday, Buck and Eddie went to their surrogate's first ultrasound and they learned they're having twins. They're ecstatic and even though the plan was to have the Diazes come to their new home for lunch the day after Thanksgiving, Eddie got sick after working a 48-hour shift. They shared the news with them but the question is how did Eddie's mom and Buck's parents react to the news about the twins? 👀

Here's a snippet from Chapter 5 of an emotionally angsty conversation Buck and Eddie are having while they're lying in bed.

Buck finally admits, “Babe, I’ve been worried about you for weeks because of all the things we’ve been doing but mainly because you’ve been going non-stop with your paramedic certification course, us getting moved into this house and all the other stuff too but you…”  He trails off and closes his eyes because he's trying to blink back the tears but he’s unsuccessful and they well in his eyes anyway.

Eddie’s attention is solely focused on his husband right now the same way he always is but he can tell whatever he's planning to say is serious and he chooses not to interrupt him.

When he opens his eyes again, he meets his husband’s honey brown ones and continues.  “I didn’t say anything because we’ve uh… both been running around but um, early yesterday morning, you scared me half to death.”

Eddie bites his bottom lip because he’s right and the only time he’s ever complained about it was back when he was struggling with his panic attacks which lead to a lot of other things and he knows for a fact that he scared Buck and Chris because Buck told him they were scared out of their minds.

Buck lowers his eyes and inhales then slowly exhales.  When he looks up again, the tears that have welled in his eyes start streaming down his cheeks.  “Eddie!  We’re supposed to be to—gether forever.  That was the promise we made to each other remember?”

His voice is just above a whisper when he replies, “I remember.  Forever and always.”

“Right that’s what we’ve always said.  I’m afraid you’re going to leave me and I—I can’t lose you.”

Eddie lifts both of his hands, cups his husband’s cheeks and emphatically admits, “Hey, my love, I’m not going anywhere.  I promise.  We vowed to spend the next 50, 60 or 70 years together and I intend to keep that promise.”

“So do I!  But babe, we—can’t keep going like this.  You have to slow down and rest.  We have a son who needs us and we have two babies on the way but ED—DIE!  I NEED YOU!”  He screams and the sound of his voice is so raw it brings tears to Eddie’s eyes too. “I—I CAN’T LIVE WITH—OUT YOU!  I—I DON’T WANT TO AND I WON’T!  I THOUGHT… I WAS GOING TO LOSE YOU… AGAIN AND I—I ALMOST LOST IT.  ED—DIE… I COULDN’T BREATHE… SO BABE PLEASE… WE HAVE TO…”  He’s full-on crying now and his hiccupping sobs are so deep that he’s hyperventilating.

What happened to Eddie that's caused Buck to be this upset? 🙃

Their Firsts, At Last - 200K Words; Currently 14 completed works and 1 in progress: A multi-part fanfic series about the romantic “firsts” Buck and Eddie share as they journey through life in an established relationship and their lives as a couple will include some of Buck’s individual “firsts” too. It’s filled with the FANON love, romance, fluff and domesticity their relationship should have been allowed to experience in CANON. The second part of the series title was adapted from the song “At Last” by Etta James.

This series of FANON future speculation fanfics is being written on a continuous timeline that begins with the start of season 7 (if it were to start in September 2023). Each part ends at a specific point in Buck and Eddie’s relationship so the next part can begin with the ending of the previous part. Therefore, parts 1-6 should be read prior to reading part 7 and the series will continue in that manner until it’s complete.

A far too familiar ache rips through his chest, his breath catches and his eyes start to burn with tears that have become so common lately that he’s surprised they haven’t left permanent marks on his cheeks. He ducks away, not wanting his darkness to mar their happiness any more than it already has. He slumps down onto the couch, head already in his hands trying to push the tears back into his eyes as if that would erase the fact that they were ever there.  A hand lands on his shoulder, it stretches from scar to shoulder blade, “Eddie?”

" It's a random Saturday in July at the Harrington house and the Party has gathered for yet another pool day to beat the heat. Though this time as Eddie and Robin arrive, crossing through the kitchen towards the backyard, Eddie catches a glimpse of Steve in his newest trunks through the patio doors and oh fuck. They're short.

"Buckley I can't be here," Eddie whispers suddenly, face red, turning on heel to exit the Harrington house. 

Robin grabs her friend's arm and against his will, she continues to drag Eddie towards the backyard where the pool, all Party members and Steve Harrington in illegally short swim trunks currently reside.

"And why's that Dingus?" She continues to march towards the patio doors, pulling Eddie behind.

He looks at her in shock as if she hadn't just witnessed the same sight of Steve Harrington as he had. 

"Your boy and his fucking gams is why. You see those things? Oh my god Robin, you see Steve's legs? Those thighs. I wanna bite 'em-" he licks his lip subconsciously but it adds to his dramatics all the same, "-… and that isn't the most appropriate thought so um yeah, I should go before I do something very stupid."

"Like what Eddie?" Robin rolls her eyes with a laugh, "Like bite the man?"

"Oh you laugh, but when I'm gums deep in your boy's left thigh you'll be just as sick as I am now for even conjuring that thought."

She scrunches her nose in both disbelief and disgust, "They're just legs Eddie, calm your shit."

"Just legs?" The young metalhead whips around to face Robin head on, throwing her a scathing look, "Just legs? Are you kidding me? My poor little gay heart is about to rupture. 'Just legs' she says. As if. As if they aren't the most beautiful thing known to man and all things beyond. All tan and hairy, covered in beauty marks and freckles I could just lick off. My dear Christ in Hell, what I'd give to make a mess of those thighs."

"Eddie!" Robin all but shouts, looking horrified, drawing the attention of the crowd towards the two of them.

"What?" He whisper shouts, beaming dangers into her soul with his stare. 

She sends him a withering and disgusted look before he continues in a sharp whisper, "Like I said, I cannot be here. I'm not responsible for what I say or do in the same vicinity as those beautiful things."

"You're impossible."

"No, I'm gay and just witnessed Steve Harrington in short shorts." "

“Have you given any more thought to California?” she asks. “We could leave all this judgment.” Shannon grasps his hand, her eyes trying to connect with his own, pleadingly. “Just you, me, and Christopher. The ocean air.” And God, he wants to leave. He wants to get away from the cloying pressure of his parents and El Paso, but the last time he did that he got shot.  An uncomfortable itch, impossible to describe, crawls up his back. He wants her to stop talking, to stop touching him, for this conversation to end. Maybe then he can push all the feelings and emotions flooding his brain away and away and the scraping sensation at the back of his skull will recede.  “I just got home” is all he can get out. “Yeah.” The happiness and relief that he is back with her shows on her face, but he doesn’t feel the same. Shannon swallows and her face resets. “Home from a war zone. But being here?” She waves her hands around and gestures to where his parents are sitting with Christopher outside. “It’s not that different.” Doesn’t he know it. “It’s not good for Christopher.” His son’s name jolts him like a shock then smooths him down like a cooling balm. Christopher. Eddie could, would, spend the rest of his life fighting war after war for him, but his son shouldn’t have to live in one.  Eddie meets his wife’s eyes. “Okay.”

seven(ish) sentence sunday

oop i've been tagged by @henswilsons @gayhoediaz @capseycartwright @trippedandfell + a billion and one other people for various different tags over the past week or so! here's some of my 5+1 eddie fic as a special treat for you all

I don't want you to be alone.

The words bounce around his head as he sits with them in the dead of night, nursing a beer in the corner of his couch. Is he alone? Eddie doesn't think he's felt lonely in a long time. Sure, some nights he wishes he had company, someone to hold or be held by, someone to talk to after Chris goes to bed. But he knows he has people to talk to. He has Bobby and Hen and Chimney and Linda and Buck. And between coffee dates with Linda and dinner at Bobby's once a week and seeing Hen and Chimney at work every other day, he never really gets a chance to feel lonely. And of course, there's the Buck of it all. Buck and his (Bobby's) famous lasagne. Buck and his apartment. Buck and his genuine brew beer. Buck—

Buck's kind of everything, Eddie's beginning to realise, and he doesn't really know what to do with that.

we're 11.7k into the eddie 5+1 dates fic and we're getting close to finishing! i just have the +1 date to do<3 i've been in a writing slump the last few days tho so i'm not sure when the beans will start beaning, but alas, have a snippet! it's more than seven sentences but i can't count <3

“My friend Ben is right, seeing your parents kiss is gross.” Chris went on with what he came to the kitchen for, filling up his water bottle and starting to leave.

“Wait, Chris, are you— are you okay with this? Us?” Buck asked hesitantly. He wasn’t ready for the answer but it needed to be asked anyway.

“Of course,” Christopher said, looking at Buck like he was ridiculous for even asking the question. “I’ve been waiting for this to happen.”

“You have?” Eddie and Buck looked at each other, completely dumbfounded.

“Well, it was kind of obvious. At least, it was to me,” Chris said pointedly. “I gave you a hint, Dad. I told you to look at the timeline.”

Eddie sighed. “You did, you did say that. But how was I supposed to know that that meant I was in love with Buck and that he was jealous?!”

“Wait, you’re in love with me?” Buck asked, looking awed.

“Oh my god,” Christopher groaned. He left the room mumbling about his ‘stupid dads being so oblivious to everything, how did they get anywhere in life’.

more calls fic because i can't share anything else asdfghjkl and this is actually one of my favorite parts

“Yeah?” Buck asks and for some reason he sounds like a little kid, nervous and bashful about how he will be received.

Eddie blinks and settles more comfortably on his side, curling his legs up towards his torso, and imagines Buck lying next to him. He’s not sure why. It’s not something he has ever done or considered before, but also, it isn’t unfamiliar.

They sleep in bunks next to each other at the firehouse, so seeing Buck across from him as he sleeps has happened so often that it has become comforting, but this is different.

This is Eddie picturing Buck on the same couch as him, which probably wouldn’t even be able to hold both of them comfortably, imagining how their knees would knock together and what Buck’s eyes would look like in this light and how Buck might breathe as they touched.

Eddie has never shared space like that with someone other than Shannon.

Guilt ripples through him, cold and sharp and acidic, blunt teeth gnawing on his nerve endings and trying to numb him enough that the automatic processes of life just dissipate.

He pushes it away, shoving it down as far as it can go, and locks it up, throwing it into a dark corner that he doesn’t plan on ever examining again.

“Yeah,” Eddie finally replies, whispering now because this moment suddenly feels sacred and fragile, liquid glass surrounding them in a golden cocoon that can be too easily shifted, and if he talks too loud he might break it, cause it to pool on the floor and run away from them, spooking himself or Buck and that’s the last thing he wants right now.

“Yeah, I–” he pauses, rolling around words in his mouth that feel like sharpened knives and silk ribbons, finally deciding that he can cut himself and then wrap a soft bandage around the hurt just to offer Buck a little more truth tonight. “I just wanna hear you. Think I need that.” Truth truth truth.

This fic is currently just over 7k words and I've only got a few more scenes to add to it before it's done 🥰

They stand in silence for a long moment. Long enough that Eddie is about to take the silence as his answer. “I didn’t want to screw things up,” Buck huffs a humourless laugh as he takes a seat at the table, “But I guess I made a mess of things anyway.” Eddie crosses his arms over his chest, nodding slightly as he remembers how it stung when Buck kissed him then fled in the middle of the night after he told him Natalia and him had broken up. He remembers feeling humiliated when it turned out the kiss at the bar was just a favour to lose that girl's attention. But he also remembers how loved he felt after he got hurt and Buck was there to take care of him, and the domesticity when they talked about wanting to expand their family together. “I’m not exactly known for having successful relationships,” Buck continues. “Everyone leaves in the end. And I can’t lose you too, Eddie. You and Chris mean so much to me.”

I'm excited to finish writing Chapter 6 because a lot happened in Chapter 5. In November 2024, Buck was worried about how tired and fatigued Eddie had been, so after an emotionally angsty conversation, he scheduled him an emergency doctor's appointment for December 2nd. Also, they celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary the weekend before Christmas and Eddie planned all of it. In February 2025, they got a call from an attorney and neither of them knew why he was calling and they were both anxious to find out the reason.

Here's a snippet from Chapter 6 of a phone conversation that started with Buck answering but Eddie continues it while Bobby, Chimney, Hen and Ravi stand around the loft at the station waiting to find out what's happening. (Hint: It's more from the cliffhanger at the end of Chapter 5.)

Since Buck and Eddie rescued the employees who were stuck inside of an elevator at an office building earlier today, they’re quietly sitting and Buck’s head is lying on top of Eddie’s shoulder.  They’re holding hands and Buck’s gently rubbing his thumb across the side of Eddie’s when his phone starts ringing.  Without lifting his head, he removes it from his pocket, reads the display and since there’s a number for an attorney’s office located in Los Angeles listed that’s different from Ms. Dalton’s law firm, he declines the call.

After he slides it back into his pocket, in less than 10 seconds, it starts ringing again and when he takes it out this time and he sees the same number, his eyes widen and his breath catches in his throat.  Immediately, the sinking feeling he had Monday morning about something being wrong returns and he believes whoever’s calling, they won’t have any good news to share.  If someone were to ask him, he wouldn’t be able to explain it other than to say that he’s been on the receiving end of bad news too many times for his feelings about this to be wrong.

Once it rings for the fourth time, he lifts his head and looks at his husband.

When Eddie’s brown eyes meet his blue ones, instantly he notices the fear in them and he asks, “What’s wrong?”

His question causes the rest of the team to be on alert and in less than 2 seconds they all stand and walk over to figure out what’s happening.  The four of them did the same thing back in December 2023 when Eddie received a call from a number he didn’t recognize.

Once it rings a fifth time, Buck says, “Babe, it’s someone from an attorney’s office calling but uh… it’s not our attorney.”

Eddie bites his bottom lip and his eyes widen because he’s 100% sure this can’t be good since attorneys don’t just call out of the blue and they don’t solicit business via telemarketers either.  He gently squeezes Buck’s hand to remind him that he’s right next to him and replies, “It may be important.  Do you want me to answer it?”

Slowly, he shakes his head no, then he slides his finger across the screen, clears his throat and says, “Hello?”

“Good morning, my name is Lawton Gurnsey and I’m an attorney with the Blaylock, Gurnsey and Madison law firm.  May I please speak with Mr. Evan Matthew Buckley-Diaz?”

“Uh… this is he but I’m not familiar with you.  Can you tell me the reason for your call?”

“My apologies.  I should explain further because it’s possible when you were told about me, my name may not have been mentioned but I’m an attorney here in Los Angeles and the reason for my call regards William and Sandra Miller.”

While looking at Eddie, the fear that’s rising in his chest intensifies.

When Eddie sees the look on his face change, he whispers, “It’s ok, I’m right here and I’m not going anywhere.”

Everything starts happening in slow motion for Buck and it begins with the phone slipping out of his hand.  It’s followed by a loud white noise that fills the space between his ears and with every second that passes, it gets louder and louder.

Once a couple of seconds have passed since Buck last responded to the caller, he starts loudly speaking into the receiver and asks, “Mr. Buckley-Diaz are you still there, sir?”

Eddie hears him and so does the rest of A-shift.

While continuing to maintain eye contact with his husband, Eddie picks it up and replies, “Hello, my name is Eddie and I’m Buck’s husband.  He’s not able to respond but if you’re allowed to speak with me, I can handle the call.”

“You’re Mr. Edmundo Marques Buckley-Diaz, correct?”

“Yes, I am.  Could you please tell me your name and the reason for your call?”

Why is an attorney calling Buck and Eddie early on a Wednesday morning in February 2025? 🤷🏽‍♀️

Their Firsts, At Last - 200K Words; Currently 14 completed works and 1 in progress: A multi-part fanfic series about the romantic “firsts” Buck and Eddie share as they journey through life in an established relationship and their lives as a couple will include some of Buck’s individual “firsts” too. It’s filled with the FANON love, romance, fluff and domesticity their relationship should have been allowed to experience in CANON. The second part of the series title was adapted from the song “At Last” by Etta James.

This series of FANON future speculation fanfics is being written on a continuous timeline that begins with the start of season 7 (if it were to start in September 2023). Each part ends at a specific point in Buck and Eddie’s relationship so the next part can begin with the ending of the previous part. Therefore, parts 1-14 should be read prior to reading part 15 and the series will continue in that manner until it’s complete.

Part 15 has 7 chapters but they will be posted one at a time. Currently, Chapter 1 - 5 are available on AO3.

Chapter 6 will be posted soon and this is the last fic in the series.
