COMMEMORATIVE MESSAGE IN HONOR OF THE 4TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE SUDDEN AND TRAGIC PASSING OF CANADIAN-AMERICAN ACTOR AND MUSICIAN CORY MONTEITH - 1 (English)
(In line with the celebrations of Bastille Day in France and the 150th anniversary of the Canadian nation, the following message will be given in parts in both English and French, the co-official national languages of Canada. Apologies for the late post given the task of translating this message into French.)
Ladies and gentlemen, to all the people of the United States of America and Canada, to all our remaining living veterans of the Second World War and of all conflicts past and present and their families, to our veterans, active servicemen and women, reservists and families of the entire United States Armed Forces and the Canadian Armed Forces, and of all the uniformed military and civil security services of the United States of America and Canada, including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, to all the immediate families, relatives, children and grandchildren of the deceased veterans, fallen service personnel and wounded personnel of our military services and civil uniformed security and civil defense services, to all our workers, farmers and intellectuals, to our youth and personnel serving in youth uniformed and cadet organizations and all our athletes, coaches, judges, sports trainers and sports officials, and to all our sports fans, to all our workers of culture, music, traditional arts and the theatrical arts, radio, television, digital media and social media, cinema, heavy, light and small industry, agriculture and aquaculture, business, tourism and the press, and most of all to all our people of the free world, especially to all who have in one point or another been a part of TV history in these past 8 years and to our Canadian and US expats abroad:
Today, the 13th day of the month of July, 2017, marks the 4th year anniversary since the devastating loss of one of the biggest television stars of our modern history, one who helped bring the Fox television network into its years of greater TV triumphs and inspired so many people all over the world – as the beloved and dearly missed football quarterback and glee choir member Finn Hudson from the television series Glee. The sudden death of Canadian-American television actor and musician Cory Monteith due to a drug overdose on this tragic day in 2013, that very day that most young TV viewers and fans will never forget, shocked the whole world and the entire movie television industry that he worked for quite some time. By the time news that his dead body was found in the Fairmount Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver, BC, Canada, had been made public (news of it having reached the day after, the 14th day of July, in Europe, Asia and Africa due to time differences, the 14th being the National Day of France and Bastille Day), the whole world was united as one in mourning for him, his family, friends and for those who worked with him on one of the biggest television series of this generation and of the early 21st century, who, together with his fellow co-stars, while breaking open the issues surrounding the young people of today also, in line with past television musical series, reintroduced Broadway musical theater and a whole lot of classic pop and rock tunes to an all new generation of viewers all over the world from the year 2009 up to 2015. Thus, for so many of us, it would be one of the saddest days in our recent history, his death occuring before filming on the fifth of what is now six seasons began.
Cory, who was born 35 years ago in the city of Calgary, Alberta, and later on grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia, would, despite a sad childhood and teenage addiction to drugs and alcohol, grow up in the arts and in music and would later emerge as a rising star of television and film, wherein in the former viewers worldwide first noticed him in the early years of this century. And today, it is the people of the world who have watched him before who also are today united in remembrance with the peoples of both the United States of America and Canada – a testament to how his legacy has reached almost every corner of the world. Indeed, the people loved him and his fellow cast and crew members so much, especially to his co-star Lea Michele who later became his partner, companion and girlfriend, that when news of his death broke out they were united as one in expressing with them their profound sadness on the death of such a man who not just became an icon and a model artist of his generation and of ours, but also threw open the doors of inspiration and opportunity to so many other people not just within the United States and Canada but all over the globe, inasmuch as he inspired them to show their potentials, hope towards better days and most of all, to never stop believing.
It is indeed 4 years since that historic tragedy that sent shockwaves to the television industry and to viewers in almost every country of the world. Profound sadness is over all of us today and the very hotel where it happened and the street where in the hours following flowers and candles were seen as a memorial stands as a silent witness to a tragic day that will never ever be forgotten. Not all the fans and television viewers of the TV series Glee have moved on, for such a sudden tragic day that had affected their lives to this very day have caused them, time and again, to cry tears of profound grief for the loss of such a man who not only became a part of their lives but also became to them a beacon of inspiration and friendship. For all of us, given the circumstances that led up to this fateful day, let us, more than ever before, just as Cory dedicated his life to the arts and helping those in need, be even more ready to fight the evils of drug addiction and alcoholism in the world today while being engaged to bring the arts to even more people, especially with the changing political, economic and social situation of these times in our history.
Today, as we mark as one the 4th year anniversary of the day that forever changed television and the world, we stand as one united people in remembering the life and legacy of an actor and singer who left us all too soon, who symbolized the cultural friendship between the peoples of the United States of America, Canada and France, who became for so many a model person of humility, caring for others, and of hard work to carry on our plans for a brighter tomorrow. Today, as we remember him as one, we end this day united in our heartfelt memories of this young man who became in so short a time became a part of us and part of our television history, whose death at a young age of 31 broke all our hearts and is the reason for the sadness we feel today and remember everyday, whose undying legacy in our hearts and minds and as part of our history will remain forever and for generations to come!
In conclusion, as we mark this tragic day 4 years on and continue to honor the memory of this great young man who has become a part of our generation, as one united people, committed to keeping alive his memory, and will be ready to defend the values he kept and shared with others, and the legacy he has entrusted not just to his cast members but also to all of us, will stand in the crossroads of our history, making this one journey together towards a brighter tomorrow, with his memory our guiding light in the darkness, in this dark world an eternal flame lighting up the hopes and dreams of so many people, and and the shining star looking and watching over us with happiness, peace and love, looking forwards a brighter future made possible by the sacrifices made by our serving men and women, veterans and all our fallen heroes of our armed forces, police, fire services and emergency services, by our workers and our athletes, and the men and women of radio, cinema and television whose stories have over the years inspired us and made us be ready to work for a better tomorrow for all of humankind!
And as the old poem says...
At the going down of the sun.. and in the morning... we will remember them!
Lest We Forget! Je Me Souviens!
ETERNAL GLORY TO THE MEMORY OF OUR MEN AND WOMEN WHO DIED FOR THE DEFENSE OF THE FREEDOMS OF THE PEOPLES OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND CANADA!
ETERNAL GLORY TO THE MEMORY OF THE LATE CANADIAN-AMERICAN ACTOR AND MUSICIAN CORY MONTEITH!
LONG LIVE THE FRIENDSHIP OF THE PEOPLES OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, FRANCE AND CANADA WITH ALL THE DEMOCRATIC AND FREEDOM-LOVING PEOPLES OF THE WORLD!
LONG LIVE THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, CANADA, AND FRANCE, UNITED AS ONE TOGETHER WITH THE PEOPLES OF THE WORLD IN THE ROAD TOWARDS A BRIGHTER TOMORROW!
And together as one united people with the rest of the world, until the end of the line..
