I love Orville Peck already but I still listened to the song just now because it's always a good time for that. I thought I knew one Josh Turner song but I guess I knew two because I have heard this one before and forgot about it, but wow his voice is so dreamy. Kathy Mattea is new to me. I really like that song! I'm going to listen to more of her songs.

Yeah I just meant telling a story :) I thought I knew "Big Iron" and "Big Bad John" but I guess I hadn't heard either in a long time and those are neat sounding songs! I like the harmonies.

When I was in middle school I remember saying I liked any music except country but that was literally not true because I listened to artists like Carrie Underwood all the time and the thing is I don't remember having any justification for it, like "I don't like it because X," so I guess I was just saying it because I was supposed to but that seems out of character. Maybe. I wish I could talk to my younger self because I have questions about many things.

ok so easy one first, nice deep voices i'd immediately recommend orville peck (who i am obsessed with so maybe i'm biased but smcjdjd)

josh turner is a more mainstream contemporary artist (aka he could be accused of making bro country) but i think he's got a nice deep voice

and kathy mattea has a nice smooth voice that's a bit on the deeper end for a female vocalist

and by specific event idk if you mean like. real historical events. or if you just mean like telling stories about An Event. i'm gonna assume you mean the latter mfcjdj anyway here are some good ones!! and the first two fellas have deep voices as well

Currently reading: Evicted by Matthew Desmond (the audiobook) and Unmasking Autism by Devon Price, PhD! I also started The Autobiography of F.B.I. Special Agent Dale Cooper a few months ago and would be done by now except that I keep forgetting it exists, and I haven't yet finished Sacred and Terrible Air (Group Ibex translation of course) but I think there's three books on my shelf I'm more excited to read before I get back to that.

Currently watching: I started watching Gravity Falls recently and I do intend to continue at some point because a large number of my friends speak very highly of it, but I got tired of all the romance and the no-lasting-effects style comedy, so I switched to watching movies off my To Watch spreadsheet; my goal is to get through nine by the end of October so that when I go see the FNAF movie I can include it in a ten-slide movie opinions Instagram post without much delay.

Currently obsessed with: Nothing very intensely at the moment... I've still got Portal on my mind, and FNAF has been resurfacing again, but I'm generally in a "checking the accumulated little projects off the to-do list" period, thinking most about the overall organization of my life. I'm incorporating more exercise into my schedule and there's lots of things there which are interesting mostly just because they're new.

I love companions leaving of their own will because it puts them on equal footing with the doctor– most of them are adults, they're in charge of their own lives, and it's so satisfying when they say hey doctor thanks for showing me different places, I think there's something I can do here/I'd like to go home now, and the doctor's like yep you have personal interests and talents that would suit this place, have fun bye! it just feels respectful

Something I heavily appreciate about Classic Who that I wish NuWho did more often was have the companions leave of their own free will. Sure, we had Martha, Ryan and Graham but that's really about it. Most of the Classic companions left when they felt it was their time or flat out with the Doctor's blessing because while a painful departure the Doctor understood that they can't travel *forever* And I dunno, I like that more melancholic vibe they have where they have fond memories w/o tragedy

I think NuWho cranks the pain machine a lot to create drama and tragedy for views, and, like.... i'm here for the nice fun adventures and stuff. i like it when companions choose to leave because it ends on a good note, and it also opens up the possibility for future stories or audios. killing off the companion (or erasing their memories) just sorta stunts them. sure, they got their moment of self-sacrifice or honorable or cool death or something, but then..... that's it. they're just over now. they might never be mentioned again. in a sandbox show based on nostalgia, that's the opposite of what you want.
