Court Danger and Excitement While enjoying Your Trek to Kailash Mansarovar
The journey to Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is fraught with difficulties at every turn but still hundreds of pilgrims undertake this every year…do you know the reason why? This destination is incomparable! Set aside every other pilgrimage because this is the KING of them all not just for Hindus but for Buddhists and Jains as well. Going there and back gives you a sense of achievement and of fulfilment, of having something done worthwhile for a change.
Tumblr media
However, it is important to understand from the very outset that it is not for everyone…. Are you physically fit? Do you have what it takes to complete such an arduous journey? What kind of ailments do you suffer from? Will you be able to walk long miles and climb mountains when the need arises? Answers to all these questions are quite relevant since it will ultimately determine whether you are selected for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.
Religious significance
For the Hindus, Mount Kailash is the earthly counterpart of Mount Meru, considered the spiritual heart of the universe. Upon it is our heaven or Swarga the abode of Gods in accordance to Hindu mycology. It is believed that when you visit this ultimate pilgrimage destination you are completely cleansed of all your sins. An important part of the Yatra is the visit to Mansarovar Lake situated at 4558 m/14,950 feet altitude, the highest site freshwater body in the whole world. A drink and bath in this lake is an important ritual as part of reaching as close to Lord Brahma as possible. Pilgrims circumambulate Mansarovar Lake and the mountain in a clockwise direction to complete the circuit of 52 km. Walking around the lake is 100 km, taking 4-5 days in all.
What you should know?
Kailash Mansarovar Trek is never for the weak hearted and not, for the infirm as well. You need to trek across freezing temperatures at high altitudes where you court danger at every turn and need to do hard labor. Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) recognizes this as trekking expedition involving high risks for both person and property. If you are not fit medically or physically, it may very well prove to be hazardous. After all, you have to trek at 19,500 feet maximum altitude in an inhospitable clime complete with rugged terrain and extreme cold. However, this has not deterred the brave hearts who have trudged through this cold desert since time immemorial. So do you have it in you to do the same?
Weather situation
So what kind of weather do the pilgrims experience when undertaking the Kailash Mansarovar Trek? Tibet is cold and dry. Also, weather here changes quite rapidly so you need to be prepared for

Momelaroute|Trek mount Meru 3 days Luxury Tour packages
"Overview of 3 Days Mount Meru Climbing "
Get in Touch with Momelaroute|Trek mount Meru 3 days Luxury Tour packages, Meru is a great preparation hike for climbing Kilimanjaro, or a spectacular trek for those not compelled to do Kilimanjaro. You will hike past wildlife, the landscape is spectacular, and sunrise on the summit has Kilimanjaro as the backdrop. While it can be done in only 4 days, it is not an easy peak to summit. To reach the climax (almost 15,000 feet), there is some scrambling on rocks in the dark and at high altitude. The guest should be prepared for at least 10 hours of hiking on summit day. For the simplest hike, you can climb just to Rhino Point for sunrise overlooking Kilimanjaro, and then descend.
Mt. Meru is in Arusha National Park. In Arusha National Park all hikers must be accompanied by an armed ranger. This ranger is employed directly by the national park. Also you will have your own mountain guide, who is managing the crew and watching out for your safety. The park ranger has the authority to make decisions like trail choices, pace, etc. Arusha National Park may include groups of people to hike with one park ranger, therefore, we cannot guarantee a completely private Meru trek. Arusha National Park requires the hire of porters specific to Arusha National Park, who will be assigned once you arrive at the trail registration. 3 days mount meru
Day 1: Drive from Arusha Momela Gate to Miriakampa Hut

With luck you may also see giraffe and elephants. Continue a steady climb through montane forest. You can have your lunch at the famous “Fig tree”. After lunch, the trek continues through less dense forest, where there are lots of birds and monkeys including the black and white colobus. By mid-afternoon, you will have your first close views of the towering cliffs and the Ash Cone. Miriakampa Hut, situated in idyllic grassy glade, is reached in time to enjoy the afternoon sun and beautiful views over the surrounding plains towards Kilimanjaro. 3 days mount meru
Day 2: Hike Miriakampa Hut to Saddle Hut, afternoon hike up Little Meru
 • Elevation (m): 2,514 m to 3,570 m  • Elevation (ft): 8,250 ft to 11,712 ft  • Distance: 8 km  • Hiking Time: 3-5 hours  • Habitat: Forest and Moorland  • Budget Lodging: Saddle Hut The walk from Miriakampa Hut to the saddle below Little Meru is a steep sustained climb all the way. Starting through beautiful and lush montane forest, the path continues beyond the halfway point of Elephant Back Ridge and carries on uphill through the giant heather and other moorland vegetation to reach Saddle Hut for lunch. In the afternoon, you can make the short climb to the nearby summit of Little Meru(3,820m) for superb views just before sunset. Dinner and overnight at Saddle Hut.
Day 3: Hike to Summit then down to trail head, return to Arusha
•Elevation (m): 3,570 m to 4,565m to 2,514m  •Elevation (ft): 14,977ft to 11,712 ft to 8,250ft  •Distance: 5 km up 13 km down  •Hiking Time: 12 – 14 hours  •Habitat: Alpine Desert Moorland and Montane forest Summit day has an early start at around 12:00AM. There is a 1-hour steep climb to Rhino Point, then the path continues along a ridge of ash and rock to reach Cobra Point. The summit of Socialist Peak (4,566 m) is an hour further on a steep path with magnificent views of Kilimanjaro. Depending on your speed, you will enjoy sunrise at Cobra Point or the summit. The views are stunning: the cliffs of the Crater rim, the Ash Cone rising from the crater floor, Kilimanjaro floating on the morning clouds, and the Rift Valley. The route back to Rhino Point in the sharp morning light along a narrow ridge between the sloping outer wall of the crater and the sheer cliffs of the inner wall is one of the most dramatic and exhilarating walks in Africa. Brunch and a brief rest is taken at Saddle Hut before continuing the descent to Miriakampa Hut to Arusha.

Make the Most Out of Your Kilimanjaro Mountain Holidays
Kilimanjaro is one of the most visited beauties of Tanzania in Africa. We hope you know that it’s the world’s highest free-standing mountain that is trekked by more than 28,000 people every year. Of the world’s seven summits, Mount Kilimanjaro is one of them. Besides, it is the easiest to climb Kilimanjaro as compared to other mountains. It’s a non-technical hike and doesn’t require any previous mountaineering experience.
Apart from this, there are some interesting facts about Mount Kilimanjaro that you must know in order to make your Kilimanjaro mountain holidays amazing.
Tumblr media
What’s Interesting about Kilimanjaro Mountain Holidays in Tanzania?
Kilimanjaro rises majestically above the African plains to the 20,000-foot and has invited climbers since its first recorded summit in 1889. Here are a few interesting facts to help motivate your future summit:
1. The very first interesting fact about Mount Kilimanjaro is that it is the highest peak of the African continent and the world’s highest free-standing mountain. One most important thing you should ensure is that don’t go alone. Get any of Africa mountain tour packages so that you can feel quite familiar and comfortable during the trek.
Tumblr media
2.The mountain consists of three volcanic cones- Mawenzi, Kibo, and Shira. Shira and Mawenzi have almost extinct; however, the highest peak- Kibo is dormant and may erupt again. The most recent and the last eruption was about 200 years ago; whereas the major eruption is estimated to be 360,000 years ago.
3. Another most interesting thing about Kilimanjaro is that it has a diverse ecological system. You can get to see rain forest, moorland, cultivated land, alpine desert, heath, and an arctic summit. In short, it’s a package full of distinct and beautiful ecology. Besides, if you move away a little from the mountain, you will find Zanzibar- an amazing archipelago in Africa. Get Zanzibar beach holiday packages and enjoy your vacation to the fullest.
Tumblr media
4.The mountain gives you seven options to choose from. It has seven routes out of which six routes namely- Umbwe, Machame, Shira, Rongai, Marangu, and Lemosho are used for ascent and one that is Mweka is used for descent. Marangu Route is the easiest and most popular one used by the tourists as it offers sleeping huts along the way. However, Machame is the most difficult and second most popular route used by tourists. Also, it doesn’t have sleeping huts for accommodations.
5. One of the most interesting facts about Mount Kilimanjaro is that South African Bernard Goosen scaled twice on the mountain that too in a wheelchair. This means that hiking to this mountain isn’t that difficult and it surely gives many of us a climbing goal. Going into deep, Goosen took nine days to complete his first summit in 2003. However, after four years, he made his second summit and finished it in only six days. Therefore, if any of you finds yourself disabled due to any reason, this doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy your life, it’s all about thinking and executing.
6. An average of approximately 25,000 people attempt to summit Mount Kilimanjaro every year. Among this, two-thirds of the population completes the trekking successfully. The most popular reason for people giving up to the summit is the altitude sickness due to which they get dizziness, vomiting, and become seriously ill. However, if you climb with proper care and preparation, you can avoid it. We would suggest you not to go too far in a single day. Keep some time gaps and relax yourself.
Besides Mount Kilimanjaro, there are many other beautiful attractions in Tanzania. You can see Wildebeest Migration, Mount Meru, Arusha National Park, Zanzibar, and more. You can enjoy wildlife safari in Tanzania if you love the wildlife.

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.
March 26th, the 6th day of Thelemic Holy Season has pathworking, study and meditations on the Thoth tarot Atu XV - ‘The Devil’ which corresponds to the path of A'ayin that connects Hod to Tiphareth. Todays reading is Liber A'ash.
The Devil represents incarnation and the word made flesh, the clothing that spirit takes on in order to descend into the world of form. It is the 26th path from Tiphareth to Hod. Tiphareth is the solar centre of the Tree of Life and represents Christ Consciousness. It is the opposite to the Death Card which we met earlier which connects Tiphareth to Netzach. In Hod, which is ruled by Mercury, we have the first Sepiroth which has a definite sense of FORM compared to the relative formlessness of the previous sephira. Hod is concerned with abstract ideas and as soon as mental images are present (such as in visualisation exercises) we have separation of the creation into parts.
Hod, being ruled by Mercury, is also associated with the WORD or Logos, the masculine energy or archetypal constructor of the Universe as we met in the Magus.
Thus we have the connection of this card to the material world.
Hod is also the sephira of ceremonial magic and in this way the Thoth Devil Tarot Card is similar to the Magus in that it is concerned with the ability to manifest things.
Crowley is keen to point out that there is no universal sense of morality. Nature has no morality and morality is not cut and dry but is cultural. Man is keen to make morality a cut and dry thing.
The Devil is the Devil because he does not take sway of human morality. His nature is just to revel in the process of creation and materialism, whatever form that may take.
Society wants people to be cut and dry, fitting into neat little boxes. Religion is the same and does not want people to have access to their own salvation. Jesus definitely wanted people to have their own salvation. The astrological association is another key to the understanding of this card.
The Thoth Devil Tarot Card is associated with the sign of CAPRICORN.
Capricorn is the sign of business, career, worldly success and social standing. Capricorns are usually hard workers and high achievers. Like the mountain goat they are constantly climbing.
Saturn rules Capricorn and Mars is exalted in Capricorn. Mars governs our Sex Drive and creative energy hence this card has a very strong link to the material side of life and self ambition. Saturn is also the planet of boundaries and limitations, time, and the cycles of life and death. In the Tarot Major Arcana , Saturn is associated with both the World and the Devil and in their lowest reflection they represent earthly existence with awareness firmly rooted in the associated pleasures and pains that it brings. Being chained to the creation we are therefore ruled by Karma.
Capricorn is also opposite Cancer on the zodiac wheel. In Capricorn we have the winter solstice and in Cancer we have the summer solstice. In Capricorn the days also start to become longer and the sun is reborn. This is borne out in the resurrection of Christ.
Hebrew Association: Related to the letter Ayin meaning ‘EYE’. The third eye can be seen in the image of The Devil.
The Thoth Devil Tarot Card represents ‘tunnel vision’ , he is one pointed in his attention and usually this is some sort of material goal although not always. It can relate to career, ambition and the fighting for and defending oneself and looking out for ones own best interests, so this is certainly not always a negative card to receive in a reading.
It implies that we can accomplish much if we are focused in our minds.
The Devil is not distracted by other things and possibilities, he is very much focused on his task in hand.
Liber A’ash vel Capricorni Pneumatici sub figurâ CCCLXX

0. Gnarled Oak of God! In thy branches is the lightning nested! Above thee hangs the Eyeless Hawk.
1. Thou art blasted and black! Supremely solitary in that heath of scrub.
2. Up! The ruddy clouds hang over thee! It is the storm.
3. There is a flaming gash in the sky.
4. Up.
5. Thou art tossed about in the grip of the storm for an æon and an æon and an æon. But thou givest not thy sap; thou fallest not.
6. Only in the end shalt thou give up thy sap when the great God F.I.A.T. is enthroned on the day of Be-with-Us.

8. Now in this is the magical power known.
9. It is like the oak that hardens itself and bears up against the storm. It is weather-beaten and scarred and confident like a sea-captain.
10. Also it straineth like a hound in the leash.
11. It hath pride and great subtlety. Yea, and glee also!
12. Let the magus act thus in his conjuration.
13. Let him sit and conjure; let him draw himself together in that forcefulness; let him rise next swollen and straining; let him dash back the hood from his head and fix his basilisk eye upon the sigil of the demon. Then let him sway the force of him to and fro like a satyr in silence, until the Word burst from his throat.
14. Then let him not fall exhausted, although he might have been ten thousandfold the human; but that which floodeth him is the infinite mercy of the Genitor-Genetrix of the Universe, whereof he is the Vessel.
15. Nor do thou deceive thyself. It is easy to tell the live force from the dead matter. It is no easier to tell the live snake from the dead snake.
16. Also concerning vows. Be obstinate, and be not obstinate. Understand that the yielding of the Yoni is one with the lengthening of the Lingam. Thou art both these; and thy vow is but the rustling of the wind on Mount Meru.
17. Now shalt thou adore me who am the Eye and the Tooth, the Goat of the Spirit, the Lord of Creation. I am the Eye in the Triangle, the Silver Star that ye adore.
18. I am Baphomet, that is the Eightfold Word that shall be equilibrated with the Three.
19. There is no act or passion that shall not be a hymn in mine honour.
20. All holy things and all symbolic things shall be my sacraments.
21. These animals are sacred unto me; the goat, and the duck, and the ass, and the gazelle, the man, the woman and the child.
22. All corpses are sacred unto me; they shall not be touched save in mine eucharist. All lonely places are sacred unto me; where one man gathereth himself together in my name, there will I leap forth in the midst of him.
23. I am the hideous god; and who mastereth me is uglier than I.
24. Yet I give more than Bacchus and Apollo; my gifts exceed the olive and the horse.
25. Who worshippeth me must worship me with many rites.
26. I am concealed with all concealments; when the Most Holy Ancient One is stripped and driven through the marketplace I am still secret and apart.
27. Whom I love I chastise with many rods.
28. All things are sacred to me; no thing is sacred from me.
29. For there is no holiness where I am not.
30. Fear not when I fall in the fury of the storm; for mine acorns are blown afar by the wind; and verily I shall rise again, and my children about me, so that we shall uplift our forest in Eternity.
31. Eternity is the storm that covereth me.
32. I am Existence, the Existence that existeth not save through its own Existence, that is beyond the Existence of Existences, and rooted deeper than the No-Thing-Tree in the Land of No-Thing.
33. Now therefore thou knowest when I am within thee, when my hood is spread over thy skull, when my might is more than the penned Indus, and resistless as the Giant Glacier.
34. For as thou art before a lewd woman in Thy nakedness in the bazaar, sucked up by her slyness and smiles, so art thou wholly and no more in part before the symbol of the beloved, though it be but a Pisacha or a Yantra or a Deva.
35. And in all shalt thou create the Infinite Bliss, and the next link of the Infinite Chain.
36. This chain reaches from Eternity to Eternity, ever in triangles— is not my symbol a triangle?— ever in circles— is not the symbol of the Beloved a circle? Therein is all progress base illusion, for every circle is alike and every triangle alike!
37. But the progress is progress, and progress is rapture, constant, dazzling, showers of light, waves of dew, flames of the hair of the Great Goddess, flowers of the roses that are about her neck, Amen!
38. Therefore lift up thyself as I am lifted up. Hold thyself in as I am master to accomplish. At the end, be the end far distant as the stars that lie in the navel of Nuit, do thou slay thyself as I at the end am slain, in the death that is life, in the peace that is mother of war, in the darkness that holds light in his hand, as an harlot that plucks a jewel from her nostrils.
39. So therefore the beginning is delight, and the End is delight, and delight is in the midst, even as the Indus is water in the cavern of the glacier, and water among the greater hills and the lesser hills and through the ramparts of the hills and through the plains, and water at the mouth thereof when it leaps forth into the mighty sea, yea, into the mighty sea.
Love is the law, love under Will.

Climbing the Mount Meru was definitely the hardest physical challenge that I have ever accomplished. I am not too much of a hiker. I love to walk but the mountain scenery has never been my thing. I consider myself as a sport person, for sure. But this, I had never done it. Naively, I thought that climbing the Mount Meru would be kind like a big walk but a bit harder and longer. Joke was on me😝
Mount Meru is called the "little brother of Kilimanjaro", it is 4566 meters of altitude which makes it the 5th highest mountain in all Africa continent (or only 300 meters less than the Mont Blanc). Throughout the climb you can enjoy spectacular views of the Kilimanjaro, just a few kilometers away. Why choose the Mount Meru? Hikers choose to climb the Meru mountain to acclimate slowly in order to better tackle Kilimanjaro a few days later. Or in my case, if you are not into long hikes (from 5 to 10 days straight for Kilimanjaro), Meru's challenge is perfect for you. To organise this trip, you have to book it via an agency. It is impossible to do it by yourself. You will be joined by a whole crew with a minimum of 4 persons: a ranger, a guide, a cook and a porter. For us, we had 2 more people: a waiter and a camp manager. We did not choose the amount of the people joining our team, and I would advise to negotiate with your agency this number. Because you will have to tip all of them at the end of the trip💸💰Two options are available according to your level: 4 days/3 nights or 3 days/2 nights. We did the second one.
How much does it cost? Between 640$ to 750$ depending on the option you choose: 3 or 4 days. Always negotiate!
What about the tips? It is expected and the crew will even request it orally. This was an aspect we did not like as we felt pressured. For us, we (2 people) decided to give 100$ total to the whole crew and asked the guide to divide himself the cuts for each.
What is the schedule?
- Day 1: pickup at the hotel on morning time, few hours of drive to reach the park and the gate, departure early afternoon escorted with a ranger for about 10 km within the forest, arrival at first camp base in early evening, rest and dinner
- Day 2: departure at 8 am for about 7 km (all climbing), 4 to 5 hours. Arrival at the second camp base around 1 pm and lunch. Then ascent of the Little Meru which is at 3800 meters of altitude in order to test your body's reaction to altitude. Then rest, early dinner and bed before 7 pm.
- Day 3: wake up at midnight, departure at 1 am, ascent until sunrise at 6.15 am, then descent to second base camp, arrival and breakfast around 10 am, then descent to first camp base which takes approximately 3 hours, arrival around 1 pm, lunch and descent to the gate for about 3 additional hours. ➡️ If you decide to go with the 4 days/3 nights option, then you spend the last night at first base camp. And descent slowly to the gate the next day.
To tell you the truth, when we reached first camp base, we were at the very maximum of our physical capabilities. It was impossible for us to descent more and do the final 3 hours left. We actually were escorted by car by the ranger to finish safely 🙏🧘 So, if you are like us, favor the 4 days/3 nights' option.
What I would have liked to know before? An ascent is not like a big walk, you have to physically prepared for it and also get well equipped: walking sticks, thermo bottom body, raincoat and pants, heavy socks, etc.
In conclusion, this was an amazing experience. I am glad I did it so naively because if I had knew before, I am not sure I would have signed in. The landscapes were extraordinary, the atmosphere between hikers super boosting, and the challenge of surpassing yourself really invigorating💪😊
