The other whump lists I’ve found for Daniel have been quite minimal so I decided to make my own since he is my latest hyper fixation.

This is a work in progress. I’ll add seasons as I watch them. Only Atlantis and Continuum are left.

Man I really like Lt. Sheppard. His whumps were really great and so defiant! Not a lot of them but still some. Also a really watchable show in general. A gem I can recommend!

So, this parallel, right.

That parallel and the 4x11 shadowpeach fight as a whole:

Macaque: "No that's YOU! You're the one always running off! Looking for more power, more sources of immortality—you're the one who wouldn't quit while were were ahead! Not the great sage, he's got to drag EVERYONE else into his mess!" Sun Wukong: "You're not in this mess, you're still free! Everything I did was for us!" Macaque: "You did it for yourself! You've become like this, obsessive demon! I told you going against the Jade Emperor was a bad idea, but no, Wukong doesn't listen to anyone! He just does whatever he wants! You put yourself here, not me."

A large part of Wukong's motivation to keep getting more power was the freedom of it—the more power you have the easier it is to do whatever you want. It's easier to ignore everyone else and focus solely on yourself. It's also easier to ensure yourself and your loved one's are protected and have the ability to do what they want.

So, a punishment where the great Monkey King is imprisoned and trapped for hundreds of years? It's effective and tragic and fitting. Wukong wanted to have the freedom to protect the people he cared about, and in trying to reach for the power to do that, he completely had his freedom removed. He went from the mountain, to then the circlet, and then all of a sudden he had morals and was bound to those.

And then I think about his end of s3 choice to go face the Lady Bone Demon alone. Once again Wukong was trying to protect his loved ones (not to mention the whole reason he went after the Samadhi fire to begin with was to have the power, the freedom to stop LBD (which in itself is another case of SWK believing he needed to be stronger for such freedom)), but he also wanted to make sure MK and himself both had agency. He didn't want MK to have to fight LBD, and he didn't want LBD to end the world.

This is exactly the sentiment he tells Macaque in the 4x11 flashback:

Sun Wukong: "It's so we don't have to worry about anything or anyone ever again! Just living a lazy life, sitting in the sun, eatin' fruit, and doing whatever we want!"

But where does it all lead him?

To possession, imprisonment. Once again Wukong no longer had the freedom to do what he wanted (which is to protect the people he cares about). Once again in his attempts to help his loved one's, he only hurt them.

This can be applied to his relationship with Macaque, to MK in s2, hell, even Wukong trying to get the map in the first place left him powerless, which then led to him and the gang being imprisoned in 3x02. It's a familiar pattern, one we see with antagonist and protagonist alike.

MK in s2 trained to become more powerful, which in the end only strengthened LBD and forced him and his friends on the run. Mei in 3x12 protects MK by letting herself get captured and placed into LBD's crystal. Mei in 4x05 goes to protect MK, breaking her sword and leaving her vulnerable to being captured by Kui Mulang ("How am I supposed to protect everyone without my sword?"). DBK reached for more power and then became possessed by LBD, hurting his wife and son. Azure reached for the Jade Emperor's power and bound himself to that role, jeopardizing Peng and Yellowtusk in the process.

It's a cycle of reaching for power, endangering others, and then being imprisoned.

So anyways, here's why MK is going to lose control (his agency) next season and hurt his friends with his own- *get's shot*

Sex Lives of College Girls: 3x02 review

I enjoyed this episode although it was bittersweet due to Leighton's official departure. I enjoyed seeing Leighton grow and come into who she's meant to be not who others wanted her to be. The confession Leighton made to her girls was so emotionally raw and it showed that behind that cold exterior, the girls really made a significant impact on her life. She came into Essex without true friends and she left it with genuine friends that means so much to her. I lowkey noticed my eyes starting to well up when that scene happened, especially when she said "You gave me the strength to be myself." It was a perfect reveal that captured to emotions that typically ensue when someone begins a new chapter of their lives. The other plots were interesting. I'm intrigued re: Bela and Taylor's relationship. It's interesting to see someone challenge Bela and how she responds to that. I feel that they'll have a love/hate relationship or a /big sis-lil sis relationship. I'm also interested in seeing how Bela will help Taylor when it comes to her alcoholism. I think that Isiah is a cute guy, but his speech re: Black wealth was cringey. I hope that he and Whitney get together fr because I think that they have chemistry. I also hope that Whitney evolved past her insecurities that plagued her relationship with Canaan(I hope to see more of him this season) and we see her in a healthy relationship with a well-adjusted guy. Whitney's taste in guys not named Canaan has always been trash imo. I hope that she finally gets a good love interest this time around. I also like how they introduced a bisexual character because everyone on this show is either straight or gay with no one representing those of whom are neither. I also like how it's not a big deal to the girls or Kimberly. I liked the introduction of Trish and the fashion show. I also liked how we saw Jocelyn again. The partying in the girls' old room was a fun scene and the goodbye to Leighton at the end was sweet, too. I'm interested in seeing how the new roommate plays into the preexisting group's dynamic. Leighton's absence will give this newbie some big shoes to fill!

3x04 just barely edged out a victory over 3x02 and moves on to the next round! Now it's up against 3x05 "Mum's the Word".

"Mum's the Word" gives us the beginning of August's villain arc as he starts acting out against the perceived favoritism in the family. After Cordell fails to deliver on a promise to help him during the Alumni Day football game, he decides to take a different approach to getting Cordell's attention: throwing a party at the Side Step. Meanwhile, Stella's struggle to figure out what she wants to do with her life is interrupted by not only August's antics but Cordell laying the blame for everything on her.

In the meantime, Cordell and Cassie are sent on a special mission to deliver evidence from Austin to Dallas, which causes both of them to miss out on family events. Things go off the rails when a strange beep from the evidence box causes them to worry for their safety. Opening the box reveals not only that the beeping just came from alarms on the watches in the box, but also that there are several files relating to Cordell and why Grey Flag captured him. Now curious, they dive into the files that they definitely weren't supposed to read, which only leads to Cassie being frustrated that despite all the work she's put into her career, Grey Flag only deemed her worthy of a pag and a half of intel. Cordell decides to cheer her up by taking her to her family's restaurant anniversary celebration, where both Walker and Perez siblings get some bonding in. We also get some emotional moments between Ben and Liam as they try to navigate their relationship around Ben's family.

Walton Goggins singing and dancing in his undies only to be ambushed by an assassin who he himself hired to try kill him so he can keep his skills sharp. Also, there was multiple, very serious, games of Hand Slap. What more of a recommendation can I give.

A medical device fails on Bradley, causing his death, and making QuoVadis blame AJ for a medical error; Devon helps a woman with mysterious stomach pain; Nic's bond with Alec grows stronger, as does Conrad's with the Barnett family.

I was going to write about the unfairness of how AJ and Devon's patient were treated. But then got distracted when the episode ended with FOUR adults ordering ONE Hawaiian pizza to share. Maybe it's because, like me, they don't like pineapple. But then why not order more food you actually do like?! (Taking a mid-season break to recover from the distress this caused me.)

The big plan should be to separate the girls again, right? It's become a self-fulfilling prophecy that they refuse to let the others do the fighting for them. My sweet but dumb dragon-marked children.

Aboard Zheng's ship, Stede, Olu and Black Pete have surprising revelations while Blackbeard's crew plots their revenge.

I would definitely want to be part of Zheng's crew given the choice (and chance). Homemade broths to eat (and taste) as well as Tai-chi to keep me mindful (and limber). Also, devastating that Izzy used the gun on himself, but relieved that it failed.

A Flicker of Lost Love Part II - Holding onto the Past

*Set in AU where Hotchniss had a brief relationship when he worked for Ambassador Prentiss. This chapter takes place in 3x02 after Emily quits to save Aaron's job.*

She hadn't thought about their past together in months. Not wanting to do any injustice to the woman he chose to be his wife. Emily promised herself she couldn't ever consider thinking about him as she had before. She needed to do her job without drama and distraction.

The job that had been her dream for longer than she cared to admit. Knowing this time the morality of her work wasn't going to be a problem. Because she knew clear cut who the good guys were in these scenarios.

It was a huge adjustment moving, but she couldn't turn down the opportunity when it presented itself to her. It had felt like fate, coming to her at the perfect time, when she felt stuck and lost and needed a change. And it brought her back to him, but she didn't like to ruminate on that path of thoughts. It was too slippery of a steep slope to even consider transversing. Plus he was more off limits now than he had ever been before.

She needed to put all past thoughts and feelings from him in her vault. This job was too important, to put unnecessary risk or paint herself with a target in any way. Emily knew there was always going to be confidential parts from her past she couldn't share, but here she felt safe. Like she didn't have to hide every aspect of her life and personality from the people on her new team. She hoped eventually to feel at ease with them and a part of the team they so carefully cultivated.

Emily could see herself eventually being accepted into the inner fold of the amazing people who already had her respect. She wanted to have a future here, where she could make a clear cut difference and not have to worry what side of the law she stood on.

The welcoming she received overall luke warm at best, but she understood the underlying hostility in this line of work. It was literally life or death, so she didn't blame them for distrusting her.

It seemed to be a mixed bag of reactions to her joining their team. While some like Hotch and Gideon were slow to trust and accept her like she expected, JJ's hesitance and Morgan's friendly demeanor surprised her more. She would have thought the reception she garnered from them both to be reversed based on her gut instinct and perception of the them.

It was clear Morgan, wasn't someone who trusted or warmed up to just anyone. And Emily originally assumed JJ was going to be an immediate friend and ally. But instead the woman seemed wary and suscpious of her for no particular reason as far as she knew.

Yet now she knew the truth of her job offer she excitedly thought she earned. Finding out she was brought on by their Section Chief as her Marionette puppet to control. Erin Strauss wanted to have her do her bidding, to keep her own hands clean. Reminding Emily at her hesitance to comply, that she wasn't a real BAU agent. That her position and future could be taken away in a blink of the eye.

Emily stared down at the shoe box she brought down from the back of her closet. It had been almost two years since she had last dared to peer inside at it's contents. Ticket stubs, little love notes, a few pressed flowers, a small stuffed bear keychain with an I❤️NY t-shirt, the locket, and a douzen or so photos from their time together.

It was eerily haunting the way her younger self smiled so carefree, so unaware of how much pain she would experience, care of the man smiling just as genuinely in that captured moment, frozen in time. Seeing them like that, so content, positive, and hopeful made her sad. Knowing she had incurred countless scars and memories since that, made what they had seem like a fairytale from another life.

Emily knew it was all for the best, that quitting now was how it was meant to be. That maybe it also meant it was time for her to move on and forget about their past. To finally let go of the man she once thought she would spend her life with.

She headed to her refrigerator, considering pouring herself a glass of wine to help drown out the memories. The knock at her apartment door interrupted her musings. The man in question was probably the last person she expected to show up at her door, yet there he was. It felt like deja vu of the last time he'd shown up at her door unannounced.

Yet, last time he had come to apologise for a stupid misunderstanding they had, that visit had ended with both of them taking their clothes off. Emily wished she could fondly remember how they hadn't left her apartment for almost 48 hours straight then. But it would be inappropriate now, for numerous reasons.

Emily knew this time there was no way anyone would be losing any layers. If anything she would need to bundle up if the frosty demeanor in his glare was any indication. Emily invited him in knowing from his stance he had no intention of leaving, and she had no intention of giving her neighbors a show.

Emily wished she had remembered the items sprawled out on her coffee table. She hoped if he saw them, realised the significance of the items, he wouldn't think she was pathetic and desperate for holding onto the past.

That he wouldn't kick her while she was down in the gutters with horrific comments about what they had had, and how little it had meant to him. How easy he found it to forget about the secrets and dreams they shared, for the future she thought they would have together.

Emily was glad he didn't seem to notice or even show interest in the decor around him. He stepped into her kitchen and Emily stood infront of the items she left out, further hiding them from his line of sight. Leaving the kitchen counter as a barrier between them, allowing Emily little peace of mind. Aaron interrupted the momentary silence that settled, cutting right to the chase, informing her of the true intention for showing up at her door.

Yet, she wasn't in a charitable mood, wanting him to spell it out for himself what he deduced from her quitting. Emily knew he was smart enough to read through the interaction in his office. That he would understand it had been a show for their section chief's benefit.

Complimenting Hotch after welcoming him back and pretending she hadn't noticed the other woman in the room. Strategically leaving herself with the last word finally acknowledging the Section Chief as if she was an afterthought. It was Emily's own version of a professional 'fuck you' to Erin Strauss. She had known even then he had sensed the tension in the room between her and their boss. That he had been aware something was amiss about the whole interaction.

Emily Prentiss had always been willing to follow him to whatever depths of hell he led her to. Even if he didn't know the the devout faith she had in him that had nothing to do with her unwavering love. It has everything to do with her respect for him and all he stood for.

Emily knew she didn't owe him anything, that he didn't deserve her loyalty after everything he had put her through. Even dismissing their past and how he broke her heart. Since her return into his life, he had been a real condescending jerk to her. So Emily knew she didn't owe him anything, she had solely been trying to do the right thing. To do her part to ensure the team she'd grown to care for in her short time with them, weren't torn apart in thanks to her.

Emily had quit because it was the only way to recuse herself from helping Strauss. It was the right thing to do, she refused to let anyone use power and politics to win. Especially when the BAU team needed a man like Aaron Hotchner at its helm to lead them and make the tough decisions. To help bring order and justice to restore some semblance of balance with the overwhelming evil and danger in the world.

When he correctly deduced her qualm, he issued her a challenge with his ultimatum, knowing full well she was too prepared not to have a go bag packed and ready. Emily knew it was his way of skirting around their personal past and saying she earned her place on the team. Of finally acknowledging without words that he had wrongly misjudged her and her morals.

She'd never know when she went to quickly change and grab her bag, he grew misty-eyed observing the items she had left out, immediately recognizing them for what they were. Or that he was the reason her favourite slightly worn photo of them went missing from her stack.

Yet years later, when she learned where the photo ended up, Emily would be glad to know it had comforted him in ways he couldn't even begin to explain to himself when he took it from her collection. That she had been the light that pulled him from the depths of his own darkness all along.

Even more pleased to know now, that even then he carried a torch for her. Because the love they had for each other had always been an eternal flame. One that kept burning no matter the time, distance, or barrier that came between them, threatening to extinguish their flames. Just waiting until they were reunited, so it could burn brighter than ever before.

I didn't (mostly) have strong feelings about 3x02 The Kids are Alright, so I'll keep it to one post:

Knowing what comes later, it was fun to meet Lisa! Was written more as a symbol of what might have been than a character I fear, but I still enjoyed meeting her.

Writing Ben as a mini-me of Dean to string on whether he might be Dean's kid was pretty funny to me. Who's gonna tell Dean kids don't genetically inherit their Dad's vocabulary.

Some of the lines they gave Ben to paralel him to Dean? Pretty gross! However when he jumped into looking after the other captured kids the second he was freed from his cage. Well that did get to me.

More Ruby! I'm enjoying her, I'm glad she'll stick around for a while. I hadn't expected Sam to know she was a demon nearly this early, but I like that they're going that route.

For some reason I thought Mary's backstory didn't come until much later in the series, but I'm pleased to be wrong. Yay for incoming Mary lore!

I mean ofc Dean's reaction to possibly having a kid is the big emotional beat for the episode, and I don't really have anything to say about it but yeah. I am not immune to it.

Ok here is the reasoning behind each choice of clip in terms of what I felt each taskmaster moment represented:

1x01 - Lolly's "Friendship is truth" = the trio's close friendship that's very well established in the first episode

1x02 - Iain's "scumbag" = Tully is a scumbag lol

1x03 - Joe's "how'd you feel about death" = the episode focuses on death

1x04 - Doc's nursery-rhyme turned rap = Mitchell and George not always knowing how to talk to Bernie and trying to connect with him

1x05 - Mike's "Tick tock it's tough guy o'clock" = I know other stuff happens in this episode but I always just remember the awkward fight with Seth and I thought Mike joking about being uncharacteristically violent matched Annie and George's similarly out of character violence.

1x06 - Ok this one was probably the only clip that I knew immediately had to be David Correos and also that it probably had to be something from the diss rap task. So yeah this one is referencing killing Herrick. David's intensity in hyping himself up, their team name being "the three friends," and them telling Matt and Urzila "Fuck you" all just felt way too perfect for that whole climactic sequence.

2x01 - David pretending that his task went "Perfect" then walking off and screaming = George's delayed reaction to finding out he infected Nina

2x02 - Josh and Anne's "That was gay!" = this being the only episode in the show with a confirmed gay character, Carl.

2x03 - So this is my least rewatched episode of the whole show so it was a hard one for me to do. I just remember Mitchell's line where he goes "My name is John Mitchell and I've killed more people than you've met" and I was like well I guess it sounds like he's on his top sensitivity level lol

2x04 - Nish's sudden outburst of "bubbly fuck" which has immediate consequences = George's new swearing tic making things difficult for him

2x05 - Johnny's "me and teddy are going on a bender" = Mitchell's 1960s bender with Herrick in the flashback

2x06 - Judi forgetting who Greg is and pretending she said "Heg" = Alan Cortez losing his psychic powers and awkwardly making things up on stage

2x07 - Daisy and Richard ravenously eating watermelon = box tunnel massacre. This was another easy one. I almost changed it to Romesh and Tim eating the watermelon after smashing it but I thought Daisy and Richard feeding it to each other and Daisy making zombie-like noises just captured it way better lol.

2x08 - Lou hiding from Alex in the bin = Mitchell sneaking up on everyone at the facility

3x01 - Bob's "I'm a sinner" = Mitchell admitting his past crimes (sins) to Lia

3x02 - Mark's cheeky texts to Greg that go from playfully cheeky to just "I have a big dick" = Adam trying to be suave but mostly just being crude and awkward

3x03 - Victoria yearning for death = Sasha accepting death

3x04 - Ed's "If I'd have known in advance I wouldn't have made a baby" = George and Nina worrying about their baby

3x05 - Ivo's "curse of politeness" = the way that the gang have to pretend that everything is normal and be polite and calm in front of the social worker.

3x06 - Greg's "compaatative daaad" = George spending time with his dad (who I wouldn't call very competitive but this just had to be the chosen clip, it's too funny)

3x07 - Josh being confused about whether or not the person he just airhorned was actually Paul or not = Mitchell's paranoia about who the wolf-shaped bullet is

3x08 - Paul's "bastard's crying innit" = everyone crying at Mitchell's death

4x01 - Ok this was one of the hardest ones, if not the absolute hardest and I didn't have time to actually rewatch every single Taskmaster episode to find the perfect clip. I wanted to find a task where someone did a skit about the apocalypse or something but I couldn't (and only after posting did I realize that maybe Jenny Tian's scarecrow apocalypse could've worked but oh well). So I went with Sally's surprised reaction to her absinthe-marmite on toast cause I feel like episode 4x01 is such a weird episode that feels very different from the rest of the show so her reaction to the toast was sort of like our reactions to the show idk. Also the introduction of a more sci-fi like apocalypse future when the show hasn't previously had any storylines like that is sort of like two things slapped together that maybe shouldn't be (aka absinthe and bread).

4x02 - This was another hard one. I considered the clip from series 4 of Lolly, Noel, and Joe's bathtub task where they keep sabotaging each other since that kind of matched the awkward incongruencies between Annie and Tom v. the new trio. But I felt that I couldn't really trim down that clip without losing the humor of it. So I went with Greg talking about Joe and Sian's awkward meeting cause episode 4x02 is one with a lot of awkwardness between the two groups. Also Joe saying he's "just a weird guy" kinda captures Hal pretty well.

4x03 - Rhod's edgy gothic poem = Michaela's edgy gothic poem

4x04 - John secretly sabotaging his team = Kirby secretly sabotaging the trio

4x05 - James telling Greg to open the box and Greg going full teacher-mode and scolding him about his language = Yvonne constantly going full teacher-mode and scolding Adam for his language

4x06 - Guy and Paul's awkward but sweet date = Tom and Allison's awkward but sweet relationship

4x07 - This was another hard one and originally I was trying to find a task relating to a nightclub but landed on Roisin making Alex eat the hot toothpaste pie cause it made me think of Cutler getting Hal to drink blood. They both are very reluctant to do it (for very different reasons lol) but ultimately give in haha.

4x08 - This was one of the other really hard ones (what is it about season 4 that was so hard to capture with taskmaster lol). I wanted to find a task with some explosion-like creation to imitate the bomb but couldn't find something that seemed to match well enough without rewatching 17 seasons. But Julian politely insulting Alex by saying that Alex and confident aren't two words you normally associate really reminded me of Mr. Snow with just the way he says it.

5x01 - Lucy, Sam, and Julian badly running a hotel = Hal and Tom getting jobs at the hotel. I wish I could just put the entire hotel task as the clip for this one haha. I tried to pick the most chaotic clip from it. I realize that they don't actually do much hotel work in this episode though but it is the episode where they get hired.

5x02 - Mike's haunted house trying to scare Alex = the trio's house being haunted by Oliver who's trying to scare them

5x03 - Aisling's "dignity intact" dancing in her underwear = seems like something Lady Mary would do lol

5x04 - Ed realizing he's been put on a team with David = Tom being snobbish about Bobby

5x05 - Ed's nice date with the chickpea only for the chickpea to be tragically killed = Tom liking Natasha only for her to be tragically killed

5x06 - Joe begging "please don't take this away from me" = the trio initially not wanting to leave their human lives but also how we as viewers don't want the show to end :(
