Alfred’s extra help
Batfamily x new maid part 1
The past couple years haven't been kind to Alfred. Although, he would never admit it... His years have slowly been catching up with him. After a recent attack on the household, Alfred took it upon himself to hire some extra part time help during the school year. The new help just so happened to be a college band kid in desperate need of money. This is how it went.
Jason:
It was the little things, Jason had decided, that made the family enjoy the extra addition to the household. The faint singing that could be heard three doors down as she made her usual morning rounds. Dusting. Bleaching . Sweeping. It didn't matter what she was doing: music always played in her head. If you were lucky, sometimes you'd get to hear it too.
Alfred:
Monday Mornings were Alfred's favorite. After a long weekend of dealing with super-powered vigilantism, Alfred looked forward to the way she would clock into Wayne Manor with shy grin. It didn't take much prompting to get a play by play of how the Gotham U football game went. The Batfamily had never considered her being targeted by Batman's Rogue Gallery until Halftime was interrupted by the Joker emerging from a comically large birthday cake. When reinforcements arrived, they were shocked to discover the entire Color Guard beating the Joker senseless with their wooden rifles. To any outsider, this would have appeared to be part of the choreography with the way each guard member chanted "5,6,7,8 SLAM DOWN."
Y/N couldn't figure out why Nightwing, Red Hood, and Red Robin had all come to check on her until Monday morning when the door opened to reveal a hallway full of smiling Wayne's. Even Damian couldn't help, but give her a hug... after an intense lecture on how dangerous the Clown Prince of Crime was.
Even more confusing was the way Damien's older brother, Jason, would always end up forgetting something at the manor when she worked. After chatting for a couple hours, she would say her goodbyes and silently acknowledge the fact he left empty handed... again.
Damien:
Damien admired the dedication on display. In the early morning mist when she thought nobody was awake, the wooden rifle would make an appearance. With the kitchen wiped down and the oven on self cleaning, all there was to do was wait. Damien admired her resilience when practicing rifle. Each brutal slap of the wood and metal on skin had to be painful, but she never complained when the bruises littered up and down her forearms. She was radiant. In her element, it was easy to get distracted by the crisp rotations on display. One day, he hoped she would feel comfortable enough to show him a few tricks... until then he enjoyed his early morning performances.
Dick:
Dick had warned her against working for Bruce from the beginning. The Bats mood swings could drain even the sweetest of souls. The relentless pursuit of a better Gotham has always been tainted by the blood of those lost. Bruce Wayne was not always known as the nicest guy to work for. Yet, after years of witnessing the tragedies of Gotham... Dick couldn't help, but notice the way her eyes shone with excitement whenever they would visit a new part of the city. The alley Scarecrow tested his fear toxin for the first time now is littered with book shops, ice cream parlors, diners, etc. In each street that’s rooted with trauma, a new sprout of hope grows out of the shadows. The quiet formality that he had grown accustomed to growing up in the Manor faded away. It was a nice change.
Tim:
Tim didn't even notice there was a change in the household until he stumbled into her conversation with Jason for the 3rd time that week. Typically, her shift would have been over at 3pm, but since her classes had been canceled that day she had worked overtime. With Jason's sudden reappearance after months of no contact, Tim took note of the way his older brother's voice deepened ever so slightly whenever she was in the room. Or how during Saturday night patrol they always managed to spot Red Hood "doing business" on a building close enough to the stadium to watch halftime. If anybody questioned it, Jason would have fiercely denied any interest claiming that he was merely "watching out for the Joker".
Tim mostly minded his business whenever she was working. His night life tended to consume most of his waking time, so if he got sleep (big if) he tended to wake up hours after she left. Mostly he appreciated the cute little animals she would make out of the groceries that week. One day, he opened the fridge to a cheese ball that looked like a turkey. Two olives made the eyes and each of the turkeys feathers were made out of crackers. His favorite had to be when she made a Robin out of Bell peppers and Grapes. Tim had left his sketchbook out the night before flipped to that exact drawing. After she had cleaned the kitchen, she left the treat along with a note explaining how beautiful she thought the drawing was.

I hate how you technically can't legally watch any 3pm kickoffs in this country. Like we have to pay enough to watch all the other games. And we can't even watch what is arguably the best time slot for football on a saturday afternoon??
#i used to just stream them but i ain’t taking any chances now#they care more about illegally streaming football than actual crimes in this country 💀

UK has a ridiculous 3pm blackout rule where no football can be broadcast when 3pm games on a Saturday are being played.
Was introduced like 60 years ago to encourage people to keep going to games rather than watch on TV. Stupid old fashioned rule for a stupid old fashioned country lol
lol seriously? that's actually hilarious. Let me guess they don't change it because it has always been this way😂 (cause that's why things sometimes don't change here...)

Sky Sports Leeds: Making Money, Moving Leeds
(The voice of the Don Revie Stand this season have been very critical of sky sports).
The final seconds of Leeds 2022/23 Premier League campaign saw Lucas Moura in his final game for Spurs strike the ball into the back of their net. A goal that would confirm Championship football next season and a turbulent year comparable to the relegation that happened 19 years prior. Though Leeds had a troublesome summer with many departures and replacements on and off the field, they find themselves on the brink of promotion back to the Premier League.
See Championship table and full match list HERE
Relegated with Southampton and Former winners of the Premier League Leicester City the whites find themselves in a race for promotion with Ipswich town with both pushing for the automatic spots. After being considered a miracle days before the new year the Leeds team that was 17 points off Leicester City caught up St Patrick’s day beating Millwall 2-0 and making it 10/11 wins in the calendar year. But, with wins comes exposure.
Since the start of the Calendar year Leeds have only had 3 Saturday 3pm Kick offs. That’s the fewest of any team in the league with all games being moved to TV. Over the course of the season Leeds have had 24 games moved because of TV selection making it more than half of their games been moved and also making them the most televised team in the league (see graph below).
(This Graph shows the top 10 most televised teams in the EFL Champioship with Leeds United Playing 6 more games on TV than any other Club).
Sky Sports have been the broadcast partner for the EFL for many years with Leeds featuring the most frequently. Between 2016 and 2020 when Leeds were in the championship they were one of the most televised teams outside the so called ‘Big Six’ with games getting moved forward and backward a day just so the game could be played on the sports channel.
(This artwork was created by player Mateusz Klich after the team won the championship in 2020 a year where they were televised similar to this season).
The West Yorkshire side have a massive following worldwide with fans all over the globe from Australia to the United States. Many people follow the club from its glory days in the 60s and 70s and due to this, make it a massive attraction on Sky Sports. But Leeds fans up and down the country are the ones being punished.
https://x.com/lufc/status/1767959013935689729?s=43
(This Leeds tweet shows the frustration the club has had when sky has been moving the games).
If it’s moving their staggering 518-mile round trip at Plymouth to a 12:30 kick off or moving their final away trip of the season at QPR to a Friday night, you can tell why many of their fans have started to voice their frustration at Sky.
A commonly used chant inside Elland Road nowadays is ‘Sky TV is F***ing S**t’ a chant that was sung frequently at their Monday night trip to Middlesbrough. This chant also made sky have a meeting with the club asking how to stop the anti-sky chants with Leeds suggesting that they stop moving their games.
Jack Cornes attended the match as he will be on Friday night when Leeds play QPR away. Cornes isn’t happy with the fixture’s been moved due to his work commitment but has still attended every game
(Jack Cornes (Centre Right) has attended every Leeds game home and away this season and isn’t happy with the changes to the fixture list. This was taken at Middlesbrough away a Monday night game moved because of sky sports).
‘Sky Isn’t putting the real fans first and we’re being punished with awful kick off times’ he told us. ‘Because of our game on Friday night away like most of the fans here I will not be earning for a day as I will be making the trip down to London’.
Cornes heavily criticized Sky and claimed that Leeds weren’t the only ones being affected by it. ‘You see it in the prem all the time, its more about making money than it is about the fans that pay to attend something needs to be done about it’.
When asked what he thinks Sky should do about the situation, he replied ‘Stop Changing the games to silly days Saturday kick offs are normally okay but moving games to Mondays and Fridays when most people work through the week is ridiculous for the travelling fans I know there is midweek games but we shouldn’t be playing any more games through the week then we already do’.
Though Leeds are frequently televised at the moment, from next season Sky will be increasing the amount of games on TV with over 4 times more games than before. If they remain in the division what will this mean for the club?
Even though Sky are affecting Travelling Leeds fans around the country is there any positives from having frequent televised games? What about the fans that can’t attend? What about the exposure that the club will receive from appearing on TV?
(Elland Road the home of Leeds United has been the home of many of Sky’s Championship fixture’s this season).
Speaking with Leeds United Season ticket holder Thomas Wigglesworth He was unhappy with the situation revolving the rescheduling on fixture’s for TV but does believe that Leeds benefit from it.
‘Sky make money on Leeds we are by far their biggest profit from the league’. He went on to state ‘it brings a lot of expose, it brings a lot of attention but negatives are the changing of the games because when fans have booked hotels and trains they shouldn’t be able to change the games.
Like the EFL, the top flight the Premier League has come under attack for their rescheduling of fixture’s for Sky with fans feeling they are against them. With Leeds pushing for Promotion to the top flight will this happen again?
All of Leeds United's Remaining Fixtures are televised on sky sports with the final game against Southampton next Saturday at Elland Road.

Droylsden's Comeback Worth More than a Little Coverage
DROYLSDEN may no longer be the non-league powerhouse they once were, but there’s no disputing the fact that the Bloods are back.
Reports of the their death were exaggerated. After three years in suspended animation they have confounded the doom-sayers by not only returning to the field of play, but by enjoying a highly respectable first season.
And to make sure I didn’t overlook the fact — as if I dared — chairman/manager Dave Pace stopped me recently, pointing out: “A cup final, a cup semi-final and the play-offs in our first season back. I thought that might have been worth a little Pav?”
However, in another change from the old days, my offer to do an interview was declined. All I got was “I prefer to let the football do the talking these days”.
Time was when Dave Pace had a comment on anything and everything. Much of it was tongue-in-cheek, but if his intention was to hog the headlines he certainly succeeded.
He bought Droylsden FC from Dave Sterling in 1992 and spent his first four years signing and sacking a string of top-class managers. Then he decided to run the team himself. After 28 years in post, he has a claim to being one of the longest-serving managers of all time.
Back in 1997 his picture appeared beneath the back-page banner headline “promotion or I’ll quit”. He stormed: “I always said in the first instance I would only take on the job until the end of the season. If I decide to stay on, which is more than likely, I’ll make this promise — I’ll either take the team up or resign.”
It’s no wonder he used to be a popular guest on BBC Radio Manchester.
I attended the Bloods’ last NPL game, on the Saturday before lockdown was declared in March, 2020, and watched them lose 4-0 to Clitheroe. That was a club in serious decline, losing and conceding heavily, week after week. The only good thing about the day was the crowd of 350, but it was artificially swollen by the dearth of football that weekend.
Soon after, when Dave announced he was suspending operations and Droylsden resigned from the Northern Premier League most people must have thought that was that. How long would it be until the Butchers Arms was sold off and built on?
But somewhere in the darkness, Pace kept the flame flickering and it sparked back into life last summer.
Okay, the Bloods are now in the North West Counties League first division south rather than the Conference where they plied their trade less than 20 years ago. It could be many years until they’re playing another Football League club in the FA Cup. But the Bloods have made a more than promising start. The club has a future.
A cup final and a play-off spot offer a great deal of hope. Crowds are much higher than they were in 2020 and often around double the 350 of that drab March afternoon. That used to seem unthinkable.
So hats off to David Pace. Despite his well-earned Marmite status — you either like him or you hate him — his dedication to Droylsden has never been in doubt. Thanks to him they have lived to fight another day.
And having lost in the play-offs and the semi-finals of the Edward Case Cup, who’s to say the club won’t make it third time lucky in the final of the Macron (league) Cup on Saturday, May 11, when they face Barnoldswick Town at Accrington Stanley (3pm)?
A piece of silverware would be a great way to celebrate their rebirth. It would show that the Bloods are not only back. but back to stay.

MATCH REPORT: READING (0) 1 LINCOLN CITY (0) 1
EFL ONE : Saturday 6 April, 2024 : 3pm kick-off
Like last week, v Northampton Town, it was another blustery, Saturday afternoon in the Thames Valley, albeit with more sunshine.
Prior to today - inform Imps had inched up the table to 6th (and the Play offs) with The Royals (just above the relegation spots) in 18th.
Immediately after - born in the USA - referee, Alex Chilowicz, sounded the first whistle, Lincoln had a couple of quick and decent half-chances and although in the end a draw was perhaps a fair result, in terms of attacks as City's were definitely the sharpest.
As for Reading, they showed plenty of confidence and composure at the back but were slow switching defence into attack, although as the game closed down they were finding useful out balls to Azeez, who had an indifferent game, (suggest) mainly due to him not anticipating the ball coming too him. Femi seemed to make more of an effort 2nd half, but was look slow to react, first.
Baffling how Lincoln City players time wasted throughout so a fairly late Reading equaliser was rough justice. Bindon from a corner on 83 replying to Draper on 72 . Whilst it's usually a positive for a ref only to book three players in a game of football, as two were Reading's, one wonders how he missed the impish fakery that was clear for most of the home crowd to see - both halves. He could have at least booked an Imp who took forever to take thrown on, first half, although it was never a dirty game, so maybe Chilowicz feels justified in the low card count.
Overall, not a great spectacle despite a marvellous Harvey Knibbs goal-line dribble, but it was one of those occasions when the ref should have gone to Spec Savers, he was passively poor, and maybe at least one of three penalty claims for Reading should have been given. Reading's tactical failing (suggest) was not making any subs around the 60 min mark, when Royals were obviously flagging, and Imps on top.
An updated league table sees Lincoln drop one place to 7th and Reading up one, to 17th.
Reading: Pereira, Elliot, Knibbs, Smith, Azeez, Mukairu (Mola 70'), Yiadom ©, Dorsett (Ehibhatiomhan 70'), Bindon, Mbengue, Wing Subs not used: Button, Savage, Wareham, Abrefa, Craig.
Lincoln City: Jensen, Sorensen, Erhahon, Hackett, Taylor (Makama 68') , Bishop, O'Connor ©, House (Draper 51') Rouchan, Mitchell, Moylan (Eyoma 81') Subs not used: Wright, Jackson, Burroughs, Duffy, RDG MOTM = Jeriel Dorsett, played it safe so a neat & tidy performance at the back.
RDG PLAYER OF THE SEASION (My vote for) = Amadou Mbengue
LINCOLN CITY MOTM = No.2 Lasse Sorensen excelled down the flanks.
Attendance: 15,209
ENTERTAINMENT VALUE: 6/10

AFL Top 100: The goal kickers
The first round of (then) VFL football was played on the 8th May 1897 and on that day (and all 4 games started at 3pm on the Saturday) 6 players kicked 2 goals each, and were equal goal kicking leaders after one game of VFL/AFL football, but even then it highlighted the excitement that kicking goals brings to the game of aussie rules. When a player runs onto a football field to play a game,…

Something is rotten in the state of Manchester United.
It’s obvious to even the most casual observer that something is badly wrong within the team. Last season represented very satisfying progress: third in the league, winning a cup and getting to the final of another. It’s not upto the standards of the Fergie glory years, but it was a huge improvement on the dross of what has been seen since he finished.
How then has a team in a very promising state of development become so “bad” - almost overnight as it seems?
Obviously I do not attend training sessions, so I don’t have the answer. However, like all fans I am entitled to an opinion and I can clearly see the body language of certain players. My thoughts are therefore:
THE GLAZERS/ownership situation. The Glazers are the root of all the problems at Old Trafford, although my football correspondent would disagree. However, I think they are too far removed to be the immediate cause here.
INJURIES. Without question, the team has been very severely hit by injuries. Any team would suffer badly with this level of injuries. What doesn’t help is having ridiculously long, over rigorous pre-season tours all over the world. It also doesn’t help when we buy players who are already injured. However, a Manchester United team should play with pride and purpose whoever is injured: this one DOESN’T.
VAR - we were rather lucky when the penalty decision against Wolves went in our favour, but since then, every single VAR decision has been relentlessly against us. However, to blame VAR for all our ills would be childish.
RUSHFORD. Here we come to the crux of the problem. He received a very big new contract, and as soon as he received it, his play has gone back to the standards of the season before last. It is obvious just from looking at match photos that he really is NOT enjoying his job at the moment. The critics are piling on to him for being greedy, never passing the ball. The fans are calling for him to be dropped. He is clearly a very unhappy young man, and the malaise has obviously spread to the rest of the team.
A football team is like an office: if one person is miserable, they can become a “wet blanket” and this very soon effects the morale of the rest of the office/team. Something is wrong with Rushford, and until the manager sorts it out, I don’t think things will get better. My guess is that Rushford is NOT deliberately playing badly, he is NOT being deliberately greedy, he is NOT being deliberately moody: but SOMETHING is definitely wrong with him.
It could be literally anything, but my guess is that he is upset about how his friend Sancho is being treated. I’m afraid the only solution for this is for him to wake up and smell the coffee: Ten Hag was naive and unwise to have said what he did at the press conference, but Sancho should not have done what he did, and in my opinion he should not play for the club again. If this is indeed the reason for Rushford’s mood, then I think it would be best for all concerned if both of them were to leave the club.
Anyhow, there is confirmation of a sort for my theory. On Tuesday we played Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup. A number of regular starters (on both sides) didn’t play. United played some keen youngsters, who did very well. On Saturday the regulars returned - and with what might be said to be predictable results.
My football correspondent was at the match and sends me his usual no holds barred honest account of the farrago.
hi - my mood was boosted on saturday morning as i had managed to obtain a ticket for next saturdays game v brentford which is another 3pm kick off
on the other hand watching united this season has not been particularly entertaining - last week they ground out a win at burnley thanks to some inspiration by bruno and the midweek 3 - 0 cup win was against palace's reserves
united had plenty of possession at the start but did little with it - build up was slow and palace seemed dangerous on the break as instanced by guehi heading wide from a promising position - after 25 minutes a couple of mistakes by united led to a free kick for palace on their right wing - eze swung it in and it travelled to the far edge of the box where the unmarked andersen smashed the ball into the net - for the 3rd home game in a row united had conceded the first goal - united responded with hojlund having a shot cleared off the line and casemiro firing just wide but they trailed at half time
2nd half united again monopolised possession without much effect - johnstone fisted over a bruno effort and parried a hojlund header - garnacho pulled a ball back from the byeline - it evaded united players and rolled across the 6 yard box - dalot crossed from the right and the ball was cleared underneath the bar at the far post - mount headed over - it sounds exciting but these were rare moments on a frustrating afternoon - by the end van de beek and maguire came on in a desperate move by ten hag but palace's doughty well organised defence held out for victory
so it is now 2 successive league defeats at home and 4 defeats out of 7 overall - a pretty bad start - performance wise it wasn't great - no one was that good - no one was that bad - all were just bang average - a pundit opined that the key to success against united is to let united have the ball because they don't know what to do with it - then counter attack united and there's every chance you'll nick a goal from a set piece or a united mistake
last season rashford got lots of goals and many times united won 2 - 0 or 2 - 1 - this year rashford has just the 1 goal - not all his fault but him and united don't seem the same - fans will hope united and rashford find form soon or it will be a very long season indeed
as you can imagine my mood was less than buoyant as i made my way home and the rain got heavier and heavier and ...........
bye

Another season bites the dust
Bank Holiday Monday sees the end of the 2022/23 season for North End with a home game against Sunderland. With the Black Cats having plenty to play for we should have a decent spectacle, that is if manager Ryan Lowe can get the boys up for last last hurrah at Deepdale before a season of missed opportunity comes to an end. The game comes nine days after North End`s play off hopes ended with a hugely disappoint 1-4 defeat at Bramall Lane last Saturday and one which prompted Lowe to speak out openly and critically at the end of the game. Just what the repercussions of that outburst will be we may not know before the end of the season but clearly Lowe is annoyed and angry at the way things of gone this season as he very much alluded to the ambitions of the club not aligning with his own. For now North End must give it one last effort to ensure we finish in the top half of the Championship at least and hopefully into the top ten. I must say I concur with a lot of what Lowe said although the manager cannot remain blameless at the way this season has panned out.
Last Saturday saw the twenty third and final away league game of the season and although it ended in a heavy defeat, we must acknowledge that our record of ten wins, five draws and eight defeats is clearly play off form. We all know that the season failed at Deepdale and not on the road. At Sheffield we played a side already promoted but we just didn't show enough in the game to say that we were desperate to get in that top six. Yes, we were in the game for an hour or so but the way we capitulated in the last twenty five minutes is just not acceptable and the players must take their share of responsibility for that. In fact once we had equalised we looked like we could go on and get another but our effort barely lasted ten minutes and the Blades made mincemeat of us in the last quarter of the game assisted by some very poor defending. It was a day of celebration for the home side bur a day of resignation and reflection for the travelling 2,000+ North End fans.
With the Kings Coronation this weekend the final league game of the season for everyone in the Championship kicks off at 3pm on Monday afternoon. Nothing on the game for North End of course except pride and the best possible league position but for our opponents a win will see them go very close to a top six spot depending on results elsewhere of course. Tony Mowbray has done a great job at the Stadium of Light because consolidation would certainly have been acceptable after Sunderland`s promotion from League One last term. Nothing less than a win will do for the visitors so it should guarantee a decent spectacle with Sunderland, as expected, selling out their 5,600 allocation over two weeks before the game. It should be a crowd of over 18,000 inside Deepdale for this last hurrah of the current campaign and all the eyes of the home fans will very much be focussed on the attitude and commitment of the home players after falling short with the play off attempt at the penultimate hurdle.
And finally this week:- I had the pleasure of being at Thurston Road, Leyland on Tuesday evening to watch the North End Youth Team win the Lancashire FA Professional Youth Cup final. North End eventually ran out 2-1 winners after a cracking game of football with North End down to ten men for the last fifteen minutes. Two goals from Finlay Cross-Adair were enough to see off plucky Accrington on the evening, but only just, in an encounter that was a great advertisement for youth football.

If I lived here I would frequent here.”Grace A., September 2022 “Really enjoyed this establishment. They have excellent drinks and a fun atmosphere. The service was spectacular. Shey was an amazing server. Very attentive to our large group. I will definitely be going back.”Randy S., September 2022 “Very solid Irish bar – especially for Maui. Guinness was correctly poured; I mention this because apparently, this is not the norm in the various bars I’ve been to stateside. The service was good. Erica (I think) was super nice and on top of her game. This def had a “local” feel to it, which honestly I appreciated. The menu was substantial.” Amanda D., September 2021 “Good Irish pub close to the beach. Good food, good drinks, and friendly service. Enjoyed the trivia too!” Matthew J., June 2021 “What is better than a Guinness on the patio, enjoying the warm Maui breeze? Maybe the fact that the bartender was super nice and attentive! She checked on us several times, filling our water glasses and making us feel welcome. I’d like to come back and try the food in the future.” Anne B., May 2021 Happy Hour at Dog and Duck Irish Pub is from 3pm-6pm daily and features discounted drinks.
