Rumble of Ancient Times Li-ion Rechargeable USB-C Mod

Yeah I know, I just modded the RoAT with an 18650 and USB-C like a week ago. And I got to noodling around with it, and the form factor was somehow irritating me. It was too tall or something. So I was thinking that the wee USB-C charger slash step up board thing could handle Li-ion batteries and got to snooping around Jamazon for something rather high-ish capacity but still 3.7V. Found a 5000 mAh battery for around ¥2500 and said why not. It was a quick transplant surgery once it got here.

For the sake of keeping height as low as possible with this battery pack, I needed to move the USB-C charger thing and attach it to the bottom panel. I used 1mm thick 3M VHB super strong double-sided tape instead of the 3mm thick stuff as well. Once it was all back together it looked like this:

Wacky rechargeable screwdriver there propping the thing up. It works fine. I used 15mm black anodized aluminum hexagonal m3 spacers just to keep with the overall BLACK aesthetics, but I'll probably go back to the 1cm gold ones it came with from the factory so it has the lowest profile possible. Come to think of it, I may have black anodized aluminum 1cm ones around here someplace. Hmmmm. Anyway, yeah so this has been a fun mod to do. This synth is lots of fun too. I need to get everything hooked/wired back up in here and noodle around a bit more seriously. All in good time.

anyone have experience removing 3M VHB tape and not destroying the thing it's attached to. cause I do not.

i used it to attach glass to plastic so no acetone on account of the plastic. also the shapes of the two objects i taped are basically nested bowls (inner one smaller than the other) so i cant really get tools in there. maybe there's a special scraping tool i don't know about that would fit though.

last time i tried soaking this tape with 91% isopropyl alcohol but i don't think it was getting where it needed to go due to how well the tape made contact with the surfaces it adhered to. there was nothing for the alcohol to touch but the very outer edges, and it didn't seem to enter further into the tape unless i scraped it away with a blade. which fucked up my plastic. I was mad but then i broke it so w/e.

maybe i didn't let it soak long enough though? I can't remember how long I had it covered with soggy paper towels tho cause i was panicking on account of fucking everything up.
