ENTRY# 2

The Padul-ong Festival is the province’s way to pay homage to its Patroness, the Blessed Virgin Mary. The capital city of the province, pronounced as “bo-rong-gan”, was derived from the Waray-waray word “borong” which means “fog. The festival commemorates the day they received the image. It depicts a mythical presentation on how the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary was inexplicably transported to Borongan City all the way from Portugal. The festival also illustrates the legend of a mysterious “Lady in White” who allegedly visits the Hamorawan Spring regularly.

According to the locals, the Lady in White has been blessing the spring waters with miraculous healing powers. Every September 7 or 8, Borongan City celebrates an early morning mass in a quaint chapel at Barangay Punta Maria. The mass signifies that the Padul-ong Festival has officially started. From the chapel, the small image of the Blessed Virgin Mary is transferred to Rawis Port. The first part of the festival which usually starts at 5:00 in the morning is the fluvial procession where boat owners can join along with the official boat carrier of the small image across Rawis Bay.

The image is then paraded through the town going to Borongan Cathedral. At the Borongan City plaza, you can watch the re-enactment of the transportation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It tells the town’s old legend on how the image was brought to the Philippines. Celebrate with the Boronganons, join the procession and be amazed at the colorful costumes of the performers while enjoying the lively beat of the drums during the street dancing parade.

We visited the fair at Baybay Boulevard, a vibrant and bustling event filled with excitement and wonder. Our main objective was to indulge in the myriad of thrilling rides it had to offer, including the exhilarating Vikings and the classic Ferris wheel. As we embarked on our adventure, the anticipation grew, and our hearts raced with the promise of unforgettable experiences.

The Vikings ride, with its towering structure and twisting tracks, took us on a wild journey of loops and drops, leaving us breathless and exhilarated. The rush of wind against our faces and the screams of joy from fellow riders heightened the sense of adventure, creating an atmosphere of pure adrenaline-fueled fun.

After experiencing the adrenaline rush of Vikings, we decided to take a moment to catch our breath and appreciate the sweeping views from the majestic Ferris wheel. As we ascended high into the sky, the cityscape unfolded before our eyes, revealing a breathtaking panorama that stretched as far as the eye could see. The gentle sway of the Ferris wheel's carriage allowed us to relax and soak in the beauty of our surroundings.

Each ride was meticulously designed to provide an immersive and enjoyable experience, and they certainly delivered. The expert craftsmanship and attention to detail were evident in every twist, turn, and ascent. The seamless blend of excitement and safety ensured that we could fully immerse ourselves in the moment, knowing we were in capable hands.

As we disembarked from the last ride, a contagious sense of joy and contentment filled the air. The laughter, smiles, and shared memories among friends and family made the experience even more special. Our visit to the fair at Baybay Boulevard truly left an indelible mark on our hearts, reminding us of the power of amusement and the joy it brings.

In conclusion, our adventure at the fair was an unforgettable journey filled with thrilling rides like Vikings and the mesmerizing Ferris wheel. The rides transported us to a world of excitement and wonder, allowing us to create cherished memories that will be treasured for a lifetime.
