third life (1991) (lost media)
I remember watching this series when I was a kid about a bunch of people being trapped in the desert and made to kill eachother (like hunger games)?
I think it's lost media I haven't been able to find anything about it online other than the attached clip (found it on internet archive with no additional context or information). Not sure about the country of origin but I'm pretty sure I watched a bootleg dub because I remember it sounding weird (characters talked over eachother alot).
If anyone else remembers watching this or has any additional information please contact me 🙏

This is in response to @liauditore's "Third Life lost media" thread, but I had to make a separate post because Tumblr's stinky video uploading. But, yeah, an old CD-less CD case I dug up that MUST be the same thing? Associated with Third Life? It's a sampler CD, "Red Winter" edition, whatever that means, apparently there's other ones too. You can get a closer look at everything in the video and me pointing out some things that I noticed but. If anyone can make heads or tails of this, please feel free, or if this brings back any memories for anyone of this or other Third Life media. I checked all my other old CD cases just in case the CDs had gotten mixed up at some point but couldn't find the one that belongs in here :(

I found some more in on those life series OVAs!
Uh, context is probably needed first though. I had started a show over the summer about pirates, and was really enjoying it, so I talked with a friend about it. He was like, oh yeah, I had found an interview with one of the VAs, if you would like to see it. I said yes, not expecting much, but oh boy, I was wrong. When I was given the drive with the interview (because my friend is fucking insane), not onl was it incomplete, but it also had mentions of one of the VAs past jobs, working on a series of OVAs focusing on death battles. I'm working on getting the full interview into a state where you can actually read it, because magazine scans suck, but I wanted to post some of the information I got from it. So, check under the cut!
Q: Is this your first time voice acting?
A: No it's not. I started with a pretty obscure anime, 3rd Life. They had me playing Martyn, the loyal hand to the red king. I actually continued for five more animes, and I was supposed to be on call for a sixth, but the studio ended up shutting down before the 6th was released.
My notes: This implies that there were 6 of these life OVAs, but I've only ever seen mention of five. The sixth must be an even bigger piece of lost media.
Q: your character, Marty, had really good chemistry with Scott. Is there any particular reason why?
A: Scott and I had worked together before, and we were pretty good friends, so of course we would end up with good banter.
My notes: So, this let me know that the person being interviewed was a VA who goes by L.W. that's one name down for cast list. I would also speculate that Scott was also a part of the life series, as after a quick imdb search, Pirates was the only show they shared. Also, yes, the VA and the character shared a name.
Q: Was the vilian arc out of your comfort zone?
A: Not really. I played a vilian before, in Limited Life. My character there, Martyn, ends up betraying his closest ally so he can seize the win. It was actually really fun to play a more morality gray character again.
My notes: First of all, Spoilers! I guess I know who won Limited Life now. Unfortunately, only one character name, and I don't think it's a new one. I'm actually not sure if any of this information is new to the search, but I thought it was interesting. Who knows, maybe seeing how it ends with help someone remember the plot.
Uh, I'm going to keep an eye out for more things like this. Uh, watch pirates, it's really good, and if you have the full interview, can you let me know?

Cool solutions for your life - Robocook Electric Cooker
If you are tired after a long day at work or have a very busy schedule and don't want to stand in the kitchen for hours, then an Electric Pressure Cooker can help you in saving your time as compared to traditional cooking methods. Electric Cooker is comparatively efficient than other stove top pressure cooker methods because it uses the steam trapped inside it, instead of releasing it in the air. Automatic Electric Pressure Cookers don't make much noise which is perfect for moms having sleeping babies.
Don't have to worry to guard them while cooking! these Pressure Cookers are automated which allows you to leave the kitchen on a hot summer day. Electric Pressure Cookers come with a tight seal, so you don't have to worry about a certain smell filling inside your house. The Electric Pressure Cooker is an amazing alternative to traditional cooking methods because when cooking in large quantities of water for long periods means that foods are more to lose their color and flavor, as well as minerals and vitamins that are evaporated. Perfect for people having a busy lifestyle.
Want to Cook with Ease - Know about Geek Robocook!
The main difference between an automatic Electric Pressure Cooker and a stove top pressure cooker is in the heat source. In the stove top pressure cooker method, you are in control of the heat source. You can increase the temperature and decide how long the pressure cooker should be applied to the heat. With Robocook Pressure Cooker, the most control you have is pressing a button, you simply have to press that button and walk away, only to return when the Electric Cooker is notifying you that the timer is up and it has finished cooking.
Buy Electric Pressure Cooker Online at Low Price - 2yr Warranty | Harkin
When it comes to Robocook Electric Pressure Cookers, you can choose between 5 liters and 8 liters capacity with two different inner pots that match your family's needs. If you are looking for a durable and modern product that you can rely on, then the Geek Robocook Automatic Electric Pressure Cooker is the best available option that I got benefited from using it.
Geek Robo Cook offers different variants of Electric Pressure Cookers like,
1. Geek Robo Cook 3L with Automatic Electric Pressure Glam Non-stick pot
2. Geek Robo Cook Zeta5 - NS Pot with 5L Capacity
3. Geek Robo Cook Zeta5 - SS Pot with 5L Capacity
4. Geek Robo Cook Nuvo - 6L Electric Pressure Cooker
5. Geek Robo Cook Zeta8 - NS Pot with 8L Capacity
6. Geek Robo Cook Zeta8–8L SS Pot
7. Geek Robo Cook Ova - 8L Electric Pressure Cooker with Non-stick Pot
8. Geek Robo Cook Fryo - Smart Air Fryer
Conclusion
When I started using one in my kitchen, some conditions and requirements were fresh to me and it took little time to understand what it all meant. Things like how much water do you need to add to the pot before cooking? And at which minute the natural pressure will release? It's all a little puzzling.
But you don't have to be intimidated! And if you're thinking about making a jump and trying an Electric Pressure Cooker, It's not so difficult and tough, once you understand how it works it will be a piece of cake for you to use. Finding the right product is often a hard task but I have dedicatedly found these products of cookers really good that I am benefiting now! I hope the readers also benefit from buying the above products.
"A cool environment has a very positive impact on your daily lifestyle."
Geek Robocook Electric Pressure Cooker ensures that your house/apartment stays cool by cooking your food quickly and doesn't let your house/apartment heat it up like a simple pressure cooker or oven. Like normal cookers or induction stoves, it doesn't have to stay plugged into the electricity all day. An automatic Electric Pressure Cooker is that you can take it everywhere you want while you are traveling or camping as long as you have access to an outlet or power source.

hello, "Secret Life" anon here. sadly me and my mom haven’t found a dvd. also Sabrina’s Secret Life isn’t it and although i thought my childhood memories were scrapped and maybe i was remembering things incorrectly, my mom told me a logo had a heart on it or something so it isn’t it. BUTTTTTT. reading article from the post i asked my mom all about it and apparently my uncle remembers something. it wasn’t bankruptcy of a company (mom and uncle know nothing about AWM) but it was what some episodes had flashing images which led to epilepsy attacks what may caused company’s downfall. also uncle said what he and my mom had different editions of "Secret Life" or something so i have a theory what these dvds were sold with different editions for special experience for any viewer. i don’t know. it also just from memory and nor uncle nor my mom have any proofs so i don’t know what to believe. but i’m so glad i have a chance to participate in this lost media hunt.
Hi there!! Sorry it took me awhile to get to this. I've been talking to some other people on here regarding "Secret Life" and after consulting them I don't think you're mistaken. This post mentions it too as part of the same series and even though it doesn't match up one to one to your experience I'm more willing to believe this did exist now (unless this is all a very elaborate prank lol)
But that last part about epilepsy attacks makes sense. I've mentioned remembering the last two episodes of third life being buggy to the point of creeping out kid-me before and I've seen other people say similar things.
Thankyou for sharing! This rabbit hole just seems to get deeper :'D

howdy! i’m dropping into your ask box because i sort of remember 3rd life too!!! too scared to reblog the chain of posts and let everyone know who i am so i’m doing this anon lol TvT
anyways- I remember seeing that same clip you posted sometime years ago- It really intrigued me but I could never find more on it. Almost like it never existed. When I found your post I honestly had to double take for a few minutes- I had almost started thinking I had dreamed it lol
I wasn’t born when the series was released so I asked my parents about it and my dad thought he might’ve owned it at one point? but he threw it out because the end episodes were filled with glitches and he thought the disk was bad or something. I dunno. He wasn’t entirely certain. I looked on Amazon to try and find a disk for it but I couldn’t find anything- I even tried for Last Life! I might try looking through some other websites later, i’d really like to watch them! I’m curious to see what this hunger games like show has to offer :)
i hope you have some luck with finding out more about the series!
sorry this sounds really silly but you mentioning the glitchy last episode actually gave me goosebumps lol
it's like. the more I think about it the more creepy I'm making it in my head. I was soo so terrified of those last two episodes but especially the very last one you have no idea. Again I'm sure it wasn't all that bad (I also got scared by like. the plants vs zombies game over screen. lmao) but I think it's the mystery of it that's messing with me. You know that creepypasta candle cove and the part about the screaming episode? same vibes as that.
anyway thank you so much for sharing and I hope you'll find something soon! I also couldn't find a single trace of this thing online other than that one clip so I can't help you there 🥲
Here's to hoping I can get that DVD working 🙏

Hey! Hi! I've been going through your OVA tag, and I had a question to ask you? There was a company I heard about, a couple months back. It was a defunct company that went bankrupt in the 90s after spending a huge budget on a show that went bankrupt. It shared a similar acronym to the company on the sampler disc, but they called themselves watchers I think?? If you want I can see if I can find the article, I know I took a couple screenshots just because it blew my mind, but if you're interested let me know I can send the screenshots
I assume by sampler disc you mean the one in this post?
Tbh I haven't reached out to OP yet about that one so I couldn't say for sure but I noticed there was this written near the barcode so I assumed this was the studio/distributing company/something or other (I couldn't tell you for sure, haven't really looked into how these things would've worked back then)
Please do send me the screenshots or better yet the article itself I couldn't find anything when I searched them up, all I got from "watcher" was stuff about those ex-buzzfeed guys 😭
Also sidenote a little bit but what kind of fucking name is Always Watching LMAO hello??? What kinda creepy ass branding is that 😭😭😭
#asks#3L OVA#cw unreality#unreality#maybe it just seems creepier to me because i was scared of the last two episodes as a kid#still though. always watching. watcher. the hell man#at least the youtube watcher is like. a horror channel. kinda so it makes sense

i stumbled across your 3rd life hunt on accident and decided to check it out because i’m a huge fan of lost media but now reading all these posts i remember something similar. that clip you posted really reminded me of a dvd i watched as a kid. i don’t remember any desert castles or cheating as said in posts but i clearly remember this artstyle and "life" in the end of the name. i asked my mom about that and she said she remembers owning a dvd called "Secret Life" and there was this red jumper guy. she said the font was different tho so i don’t know if it’s the same series or not. i’m so invested in this lost media hunt now and i’ll try to find that dvd
Hi hello!!
First of all thankyou for reaching out I didn't realise this was such a common experience. If you ever do find that dvd please do let me know!
Are you sure the font was different? How different was it? Because while I was looking around I found this "sabrina's secret life" show that could've been what you're talking about, the art style isn't a one to one match but everything looks different with nostalgia goggles, and there's this character I keep seeing in screenshots that totally could be mistaken for the same red jumper guy if your memory's muddy enough!
Asking about the font cus even though it's not a one to one match I'm seeing some versions of the title/logo that look pretty similar to the font used on my third life dvd as well
not quite the same but the "secret life" portion of it has some similarities (look at the L, for example)
Not saying that what you watched wasn't tied to this, of course!! I'd have no idea I'm just putting forth what I'm finding. Occam's razor or whatever etc etc. I've gotten some claims sent to me that are questionable at best although I don't want to call anyone a liar (and I know how weird childhood memories can be) so I'm not ruling anything out 💪

Hi, I'm the person who originally brought up Double life, Birdi. It's been a while, but I think I found something relating to the dubbing cast! I still have a bit of work to do with it, but I'm hoping it can shed some light on the series!
Awesome to hear!!!!! Sorry that it's been awhile between updates, I found a cd player for cheap online but it can't read the disc so I've been a bit distraught 😔
Hope your search turns up more, I remember the dub being very strange and.. fan-made sounding? So I'm interested to see where this goes 🔥

#my art is the tag for my.. art
#3L OVA is the tag I use for documenting information on an animated series I remember from my childhood, "3rd Life", which I believe is now lost media. Please contact me if you think you remember it too! (unreality project)
i occasionally draw suggestive / gorey / shipping stuff. i try to tag everything with 'cw _____' but shipping still confuses me a bit, although i do try to slap 'trafficshipping'/'hermitshipping' on when I'm not sure. If you're a minor I prefer you block 'cw suggestive' before you follow.
DNI if you're @thecoolerliauditore
asuka pfp haver (stealing ASK's art til i draw my own again) and Team BEST / Divorce Quartet enjoyer. bdubsboy.
have fun!

Wow, I wonder if that was a glitch...? I never saw or knew of "Secret Life" but that would have freaked me out as well. But maybe it was some kind of publicity stunt instead and intentional? I wish someone had that preserved, or if anyone else ever accessed this website, to hear back from them if that happened to them too. The website URL changing makes sense, would indeed explain why the URL I found and none of the other assumed URLs seem to work. Crazy to think that that was in the 2010s if what you're saying is accurate, that doesn't feel that long ago... This series would have had a hefty lifespan too and yet so little documentation of it...
This is in response to @liauditore's "Third Life lost media" thread, but I had to make a separate post because Tumblr's stinky video uploading. i don't know honestly it was weird, there was this whole thing with divorced parents too? Weird arc to put in there, maybe to make it more interesting or something? I've heard something about it carrying to another film by the same company but I'm pretty sure I didn't see it cause we avoided them after that. I mean I refused to have any clocks in the house for a good few weeks, I don't think it was great media for an anxious kid.

Oh oh I remember Limited Life!! My grandparents picked it up from one of those movie bins at the store to entertain me when I was younger. It was weird. Lots of time motifs (I blame that for my fascination with such things), and they were killing each other again. I think there was, like, a gang? Red guy from third life might've been there? Oh oh and a family. A really weird sitcom esque family. And that blonde dude that makes everything get all glitchy won in the end? I remember the dialogue and animation was fucked, captions were all kinds of weird, honestly I think it was slightly scarring because I hate weird animation glitches now they're really really disturbing to me. I think we threw it away afterwards, something about curses? My grandparents stopped picking up random movies after that.

Yall!!!!
I saw this and I remembered having a dvd just like this at my parent's house. Thankfully I'm staying there this weekend, so I went digging in the dvd cabinet.
LO AND BEHOLD!!!
I remember loving this as a kid, but my parents wouldn't let me watch it much since they didn't like the "death games" aspect. Plus I don't think they really liked the cheating and "adultery" lol.
The girl in red was my favorite character, even though she was the antagonist. I think she actually won the games in the end and was paired with the teal guy.
I see Scar and the blonde guy on the cover (Grain or something) but I don’t remember much about them.
I never watched the previous two series, and honestly didn’t know they existed before these posts. But there was a preview for the next series that I think was called “Limited Life” sadly the disc is too scratched for me to watch anything :’(

I did some searching, apparently "double life" (and variants of it) is actually a fairly common movie title? 😅
None of the covers I could find online looked anything like what you were describing, but if it was at a garage sale I could imagine it being some weird obscure foreign release variant or the reseller just cobbled together their own after losing the original to make it look newer?although I guess it'd be harder to pull something like that off before photoshop was widely accessible
Imagine if it was part of the same series tho. "death game but this time with ~romance~ and ~adultery~" LMAO
