My PC Cooling Upgrades Review - Part 1 [Second Half] (w/ my paper dolls) [Recorded on Jun 9th, 2023]
Hello, June! Here's the continuation of "My PC Cooling Upgrades" Part 1 (featuring my paper dolls). 🙂
If you haven't seen my "First Half", then please [CLICK ME!].
So, without further ado, let's get started!
29th to 31st Image(s) ↑:
• Alright! Moving on to other items 📦📦, now what item should we open? 🤔
32nd & 33rd Image(s) ↑:
• My paper dolls says "Why not both?". Good idea! 😄Tada! Two items had been revealed! And I know the PC fan was misleading & un-advertised to the box, but, we'll get to that in a bit.😉
34th to 36th Image(s) ↑:
• Now, you've already seen this before during my unwrapping parcels, right? So, here's the 4-pin fan splitter connector for my Motherboard. And the reason to buy is because I need more than one PC fan to get the ventilation going & prevent from overheat the hardware components (including the motherboard) 🌡️💨❄️🖥️. I wish I could buy more than three slots (w/ more PC fans), but since my tower case is an old style, I guess this will do (for now). 🙂
37th to 41st Image(s) ↑:
• [37th to 39th Images] Lastly is the 80mm 12V PC fan with w/a blue light strip around closer the transparent fan blades. Sure, an affordable normal PC fan is fine but also boring. So, why not get this? Because the transparent fan is rad & a colorful LED light strip (which depending on what color you choose, so I picked "Blue") was icing on the computer cake (no pun intended). 🥰💙💡
• [40th & 41st Images] Also, I was expecting to be a 4-pin fan connector, but instead, this mini fan has a Molex connector; in both male & female ports. And you know what, I'm okay with that, a single Molex slot should make room for it. And I can't secure the PC fan without a pack of four screw bolts.🙂
42nd to 43rd Image(s) ↑:
• And there you have it, my trio of items for my PC cooling upgrade! Hope these will delivered a solid worth, and my paper dolls agrees! We can't wait to install these goodies! 😁🖥
BTW: I haven't talk about my current PC. Well... It went horrible, on June 7th. Hours after I record the video & posted. 🖥😟 And you noticed, I covered my monitor with a fiber cloth. I'll spare the details when I make "Part 2".
Overall & Asking Price:
• Problem aside, I hope these will make cooldown the heat of the CPU chip & other internal components. Although, I have one last item that I need to purchase. ☝️ But sadly, I need to earn just a little bit. 🤏💵 So I guess I'll cover it, in the coming months once I bought the last item.
• As for the "Asking Price", here are the ff.:
○ Jonsbo CR-1400 from EasyPC (Shopee PH site) - cost ₱ 699 - 755 (Free Shipping Fee in voucher) in Black or White colors available
○ 80mm 12V PC Fan from ogamma-ph (Shopee PH site) - cost ₱ 75 (Shipping Fee ₱46) in Red, Blue, White, and RGB LED light colors in different sizes (There's also selling an actual PCCooler FX-12CM RGB for ₱129)
○ PWM PC Fan Splitter from Meuc Store (Shopee PH site) - cost ₱50 - 75 (Shipping Fee ₱38) depending how many ports you want
SIDE NOTE: I didn't buy anything from Lazada PH, so its a nice for me to change. 😊🛒🌐🇵🇭
Well, that's all for now. And you haven't seen my previous month, then please [CLICK ME!].

Wine and snacks to followed. It was rumored that the after-party would be more of a Holiday-Hoot-Nanny than usual. A party of dominant women had taken control and our LHCF Management was not responsible for the outcome.
Somehow the entire menu of Chuy's showed up on long tables around the picnic table. The only problem was that since the darkness was upon us, we needed headlamps to see what we were eating. Consultation with a local Rabbi representative gave his/her imprimatur endorsing the accidental consumption of non-kosher Mexican food in a drunken darkness. All the food was consumed. Also there were fancy cookies, fancy cupcakes, and other snacks.
Alcoholic beverages were well represented. Approximately 4 good white wines and 10 good red wines were available. (The menu at North Italia has toasted Italian Bread and GOOD Olive Oil. Can we ask for BAD Olive Oil)?? Tom brought some expensive old wine but I barely got a taste. Ed was kept busy with his big-ass blender making Icy Margarita's with top-shelf Tequila. In spite of everyone's best efforts, there was a tiny bit of wine left over for next week.
The fancy cupcakes were in fact a variety of small birthday cakes intended for a belated celebration of Sweet Shannon's 36th birthday (Armando said). We sang an unbelievably harmonious birthday song and she blew out her candles. Shannon gifted me a good book for her birthday. I love her.
Several non-WOD people came for the after-party. Larry's kiddo's and the lovely Crystal came (Howards Daughter). Chase's glowing Anna came (after sending Anna's home-made bread and butter). And naturally Sammy D somehow interrupted his trades of Bitcoin and high-commission annuities, drawn to the scent of free booze, Mexican food, and very fit women. Cherrita missed another good one.
Bill P came for his 2nd workout. He performed admirably but with humility (2+). He had purchased new CrossFitting shoes and left with a borrowed Jump-Rope he wanted for practice (2+). He totally skipped out on the after-party (-1), but spontaneously inquired as to the time of the early Saturday workout (+1). With a total score of +4, odds are that he will return at least one more time.
Saturday at 0730 and at 0930.

Wellness Wednesday:
Better, Warmer, Closer
Last week I reported I was sick, and today... I would say I am still not 100% - I say, I am 85%.
I still need the use of cough drops, still blowing my nose multiple times a day, and still have sinus pressure.
But, none of that has prevented me from forging on.
I up'd the ante in my workout routine by increasing the sets/reps and adding squats back into the rotation.
Now, with my previous workouts I was getting my sweat on - but - with this new regiment I am sweating buckets - I am sweating from pores that I didn't even know were active.
Increasing the sets/reps and adding squats have also reintroduced the classic muscle burn - something I haven't felt since January.
I was also leery of adding squats back into the mix as they were often paired with knee pain, but I took the risk of adding squats back since I've lost over 80 pounds - so far - with the reduced weight, I have no current indications of knee pain.
Hoping I can keep trucking and feel fully recouped of illness by the weekend.

Closing Thoughts:
The Good:
Been getting workouts done during regular hours which has been improving my sleep - or - the previous lack thereof.
Appetite has increased since my recent illness, and yet my weight has maintained from last week.
Put a massive dent into my student loans before interest start accruing back. Hope to have them fully paid off before the end of the year.
The Bad:
Still stuffy. Waiting on my head to clear.
The Ugly:
Nothing worst than my head-cold this week - so, not too bad.

the night sky is “silent” yet still playing a universal symphony orchestrated by our beautiful mysterious Creator
like instrumental music and poetry, we see and hear things in nature just as we see written words
words that when taken inside become intertwined with our own heart and thought-life (the heart is where desire is “conceived” just as speech)
with God addressing Job:
Can you bind together a cluster of twinkling stars—
the seven sisters of Pleiades who keep company in the night sky?
Can you loosen the cords of Orion’s bow?
Can you lead the stars of the Zodiac out in their proper seasons
and guide the Bear with her cubs?
Do you know the rules of the heavens,
or apportion their influence on the seasons of the earth?
The Book of Job, Chapter 38:31-33 (The Voice)
God orchestrates “signs” in the heavens even as the stars align, yet we have no need of things such as astrology or horoscopes as forms of fortune-telling which are idolatrous in nature.
Israel in the course of their History went astray time and again from God’s truth, and some still don’t yet see their Messiah in Yeshua who the writing of the Hebrew Bible (Tanakh) points to. did you know there is a point in the world’s fiction that can become idolatry when it takes all the time of the heart & mind rather than focusing on our Creator and His truth as what is most sacred and treasured inside?
And we can see the rebirth of Israel on earth as a clear sign of God restoring the Jewish people and all Gentile believers are actually “ingrafted” into the Jewish Vine and its pure “Root” of Yeshua as Messiah over all of us
from the 36th chapter of the prophet Ezekiel:
Eternal One: On the day I cleanse you from all your sins, I will bring people back into your desolate cities, and heaps of rubble will be turned into grand structures. The wasteland will be plowed and sown—a vast change from the emptiness those passing by are used to seeing. They will be amazed, saying, “This place used to be an empty wasteland. Now it’s like the garden of Eden! The cities were demolished, lying in ruins and completely abandoned. Now they are all restored, strong and full of people!” Then the nations near you will know that I, the Eternal, am the One who rebuilt and restored the ruined cities and replanted the empty wilderness. I, the Eternal One, promise to do exactly what I’ve said.
The Book of Ezekiel, Chapter 36:33-36 (The Voice)
And we see the significance of this in the heavenly city of the new Jerusalem with its foundation stones inscribed with the 12 apostles of Yeshua and the city’s 12 gates with the 12 sons of Israel (Jacob):
Heavenly Messenger: Come with me, and I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.
He took me away in the Spirit and set me on top of a great, high mountain. As I waited for what I thought was a bride, he showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God. It gleamed and shined with the glory of God; its radiance was like the most precious of jewels, like jasper, and it was as clear as crystal. It was surrounded with a wall, great and high. There were twelve gates. Assigned to each gate was a messenger, twelve in all. And on the gates were inscribed the names of the twelve tribes of Israel’s sons. On the east wall were three gates. On the north wall were three gates. On the south wall were three gates. On the west wall were three gates. And the city wall sat perfectly on twelve foundation stones, and on them were inscribed the names of the twelve emissaries of the Lamb.
The Book of Revelation, Chapter 21:9-14 (The Voice)
A poetic post finished over 8 years ago that points us toward our heavenly “Home”

Bad Buddy’s character's name's meaning
Small things you might or might not know about Bad Buddy.
Sometime ago, I saw some people call Wai a liar, and then I found out that it was because in English sub, he told Pran he gave Pat's group a thumbs up in the bar, but he actually gave them a middle finger. In Thai, what he says is he raised a finger for them, so technically he didn't lie.😉
Their university name is South Technology University, and their school is Prasertsilpwittaya School.
Pat says he wanted to change his picture on his student ID when he cut it to make a pick for Pran, but on his new card and even the university one, the picture is still the same.
At first, the bar they go to is named "in front of the flagpole", but after Wai and Korn's takeover, they rename the bar "behind the curtain", which is the novel's name in Thai.
Pat is near sigh.
In the pilot trailer, Pran let Pat copy his English homework in exchange for Pat's physics homework, and in the last episode we saw that the students in the 36th class of their school all failed physic. So......🤔
Pran sigh all his postcard ครับเพื่อน (krap friend). (I saw some people translate ครับเพื่อน as yes friend but it kind of...not give the same feel? At least to me.)
Their condo address is 75 Jasmine Condo, Sukhumvit 53, Phra Khanong, Khlong Toei, Bangkok 10800.
Junior is really a better chef than Pat and Pran. The actor, C-nine, is a participant in the Master Chef junior program.
Pat tries and fails to sleep in Pran's room on his own birthday.🤣
The Rose Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk is a fake brand they made up because they don't want any non-sponsor brand on screen. I thought it was Mali at first, lol.
Sometimes Pat says Korn's(กร) name as Gon(ก้อน) which actually won't be spelled differently in English if we do follow the rule. Both should, in fact, be kon. But my point is that it means "a descriptive term for a small, clinging, or tightly packed, mostly round shape". and that is incredibly cutefor me, and I must share it😌😌

Remembrance of Things Past - Eps 1-10 Impression/Rant
Not really a first impressions post since there are only 2 episodes left, but as I’m waiting on the last few episodes, I thought I’d rant a bit about the drama here.
First of all, I agree with everything that AvenueX said in her review of the first 6 episodes. Her review is what prompted me to start the drama. I needed a realistic slice of life drama to balance out the idol drama that is You Are My Glory (which I’m also waiting on for new episodes), and ROTP seemed to fit bill. ROTP is just so good.
I binged ROTP in 3 days. It could have been 2 days, but I started it at 2am on a Wednesday night, so I didn’t get very far the first night. Each episode is about 75 minutes long, so almost the equivalent of 2 regular lengthed episodes, but not quite.
I cried during the first two episodes. The character development is just phenomenal. You really feel for Jing Jing’s character even though you’ve only seen her character for an hour. There are little moments throughout the drama that made me tear up too, like when the girls were celebrating Nan Jia jie’s 36th birthday and I got emotional over how close their bond is, or moments when the girls reflected on their aging parents and how we often take our parents for granted.
Plot pacing and structure
The plot is tight and well-paced, and each girl’s storyline is interwoven well. Sometimes they’d cut between simultaneous scenes between the girls to compare and contrast what they’re each going through. For instance, when Xu Yan is having an argument with her boyfriend, the drama will also cut and flip back and forth to Qiao Xi Chen going through problems at her workplace. When Xu Yan makes up with her boyfriend, the drama cuts to QXC and Nan Jia being romantically pursued by Jian Yi Fan and Ou Yang. It’s interesting to see how their lives mirror and differ from each other.
Because the storylines between the girls are so interwoven and keep flipping back and forth between each other, it makes it hard to skip scenes because you can’t just skip an entire segment or else you’ll miss something important in all 3 storylines. I can see that this might be a little annoying if you have a preference for one of the girls and want to skip someone else’s storyline. But I actually like seeing all 3 of their stories play out, so I’m not bothered by it.
Another aspect about the plot’s structure that I appreciate is how they use the mystery behind Jing Jing’s suicide as a throughline for the drama. Up until episode 8ish(?), each episode ends with a question about Jing Jing’s life prior to her suicide and the next episode opens with the girls trying to find an answer or a clue to it. The girls and we the audience learn more and more about Jing Jing with each episode. However, episodes 9 and 10 deviate from the structure a bit and so the drama has recently been less and less focused on Jing Jing’s story, especially after they found out that she had depression. The drama seems to imply that her depression due to the stress of living in Beijing was the main factor that led to her suicide, while the successive unfortunate events that happened on her birthday was the trigger.
Characters
I like all the main characters in the drama, albeit some a little more than others, which I’ll explain. I think the 3 male love interests are a little too perfect though, and so I guess this slice of life drama is actually a little idealistic after all.
Xu Yan - My least favourite of the four girls. She’s materialistic, but not as spoiled as I though she would be. But it does annoy me how she keeps picking fights with Shen Zi Chang, when he’s just trying his best. He’s so tolerant and patient with her. He apologizes, they make up, and then the cycle repeats. It’s just a very unhealthy relationship, and I’m tried of seeing them fight and make up.
EDIT: So, I started writing this review when I had only watched up until episode 9, but now that I’ve finished episode 10, um, wtf?? Xu Yan made a bad choice and got scammed of all her money, her friends try to comfort her, loan her money, and tell her not to repress her emotions like Jing Jing. And then she just lashes out at them saying they have no right to comfort her because they were the ones who caused Jing Jing’s death. Xu Yan starts off blaming QXC for not knowing that Jing Jing had a crush on her boyfriend, and then she blames Nan Jia for being a bad older cousin. She blames both of them for being ignorant of Jing Jing’s depression and only caring about themselves. QXC (rightfully) retorts back than Xu Yan knew all along that Jing Jing had a crush on her boyfriend, and yet Xu Yan never told anyone, so she’s just as guilty as all of them. Honestly, I was sympathetic towards Xu Yan before, but she was just so ungrateful and entitled in that scene. What right does she have pointing fingers and assigning guilt to people? And to weaponize Jing Jing’s death against them? That’s just cruel. The argument between them in that scene at the end of episode 10 just felt so random and out of place. All of a sudden, Xu Yan points out all of these problems she has with QXC and Nan Jia, when all they’ve ever done is pamper her. Also, you can’t blame QXC for dating Lin Rui even if Jing Jing liked him first, and not to mention that QXC wasn’t even aware. QXC might not have even chosen to date Lin Rui if she had known. But it happens all the time between friends where your friend might date someone you like. All’s fair in love and war, and there’s no first come first serve rule when it comes to dating.
Jing Jing - She becomes more complex as you learn more about her. She puts her friends first and is fiercely supportive and protective of them. We get a glimpse of how far she’s willing to go for them she pulls a butcher knife from the kitchen and points it at QXC’s debt collectors in the first episode. Her friends see her as being really open, expressive, and bubbly. She’s the first one they each go to whenever they need help with a problem or want to show off an achievement. But in reality, she’s really secretive. She hides her feelings to keep her friends happy, and when they slowly uncover her secrets, she becomes less and less recognizable to them, as though she’s been living a double life all along.
At the end of episode 10, Jing Jing is described as the “hole in the tree” that everyone goes to to share their secrets, but they forget that she’s also a person with her own secrets to share, and she’s not just a tree hole to serve others. Can we blame the friends for not paying enough attention to Jing Jing and only using her for emotional support? Yes and no. It’s complicated. We should always do more to try to care for others and to be more attentive to them, but at the same time, it’s impossible to completely know a person. I purposely hide parts of my life from my friends because I don’t want them worrying or judging or commenting. So I would never expect them to be able to figure it out, and neither do I want them to figure it out. I think it’s interesting that the drama is exploring the friends’ self-imposed guilt, but I don’t agree that Xu Yan should be the one to point it out them and to be Jing Jing’s spokesperson. Xu Yan positions herself as Jing Jing’s heroic and righteous advocator, when really Xu Yan is the most problematic person out of the three remaining friends.
Also, after seeing how the friends interact, they don’t feel narcissistic. Yes, they each readily vent about their problems to each other, but they also ask about the other person. It’s not one-sided. Xu Yan talks about her problems with her boyfriend, but she also asks and cares about what’s happening in QXC’s life and vice versa. Nan Jia is more mature and is busy with her business, but she always takes the time and effort to help her friends. All of their conversations are reciprocal and they are genuinely interested in each other’s lives. So, I don’t think they have a major communication problem or that they don’t care or that they’re ignorant. Which again, makes Xu Yan’s accusations in episode 10 feel even more unfair.
Ji Nan Jia - Jing Jing’s cousin and also the oldest of the three girls (about a decade older). Sassy, witty, unapologetic, confident. She’s who you’d think of when you imagine a successful, independent, career-driven woman. She’s extremely annoyed by her mother’s nagging to get married. But she herself is trying to figure out whether she actually wants to find someone to settle down with or if she just wants to beat her biological clock and have children while she still can. She’s pursued by Ou Yang, ten years her junior, and he’s absolutely enamoured with her. He seems to be unconditionally in love with her, which is what I meant when I said that the male leads in this drama seem too perfect and idealistic. But I like Ou Yang though. He’s adorable.
Qiao Xi Chen - The main character of the four main characters. Like Nan Jia, she’s also quite sassy. In some ways, she’s like a younger version of Nan Jia. QXC is also very career driven and competitive. She’s confident and believes in her abilities, but she also gets easily overwhelmed and emotional (like when her stress and nervousness prevented her from being able to give her proposal presentation and she ran out of the room. I’ve definitely felt that way before my committee meetings). QXC is a character you can self-insert as because she represents the everyday employee who struggles with the long commute to work and tries to stand out and make a name for herself in the company. QXC is also extremely paranoid, which is understandable when you’re a woman living alone in the city. I know what it’s like to have to briskly walk home late at night and constantly having to look over your shoulder to make sure no one’s following you, or having to check your hotel room before you change, or having to make it seem like you’re not the only one living in your apartment. QXC is smart, logical, helps people when she can, but is also reasonably selfish when she needs to protect herself, like when her co-workers try to take advantage of her or throw her under the bus. She’s a character everyone can relate to.
She and Jian Yi Fan also make such a cute pairing. I love all their interactions. I love how Jian Yi Fan can’t help but smile when he’s with her, but he tries hard to clamp it down. I love how QXC is aware of her own attraction and easily admits to to Xu Yan that she does have feelings for him instead of beating around the bush. And I especially love the awkward but adorable confession scene in episode 8. Such great banter and play on words (”你是什麼意思” “沒意思” “你對我是不是有意思?”). The drama did a great job of depicting the frustration of trying to guess whether someone likes you when they seem to be sending mixed signals. A lot of dramas that don’t focus on romance seem to do a better job of showing romance than idol dramas that focus on nothing but romance. I grew up with TVB dramas, and in most of them, romance is usually secondary to the main plot, but I always loved the romances in those dramas.
Like Ou Yang, JYF is such an idealistic love interest. He’s so supportive of and attentive to QXC. I haven’t watched too many slice of life dramas, but To Dear Myself and My Best Friend’s Story both had flawed (and sometimes even irredeemable) male love interests. This drama’s rose-coloured glasses definitely reduces the amount of performative angst, but it also makes the drama a little less realistic. The men in Jing Jing’s life aren’t villainized either even when you expected them to be sinister. I think the most antagonistic character is Lin Rui, but even he’s made to be sympathetic. In fact, nearly all the characters in the drama are sympathetic characters because many of the choices they made were forced because of the situation they found themselves in, and what they did was an act of self-preservation. And so, you can’t hate them or blame them.
Acting and Dialogue
I mean, what’s there to say? The acting and dialogue just sucks you right in. I love it so much. The characters are so animated and charming because of how well the actors delivered their lines. I’m not a mandarin speaker (I’m a cantonese speaker but learned mandarin afterwards), but even I was able to notice the colloquialism and slangs and idiosyncratic ticks in speech that made the dialogue feel so real and alive. The actors had great comedic timing, and when they cried, you could feel how vulnerable they are.
Lastly, I also like the little “life lessons” they include at the end of the drama where there’d be a voiceover by one of the actresses and they’d muse about life. One of my favourite musings when when they talked about what it means to have a sense of security. For some people, having a sense of security is about having a certain amount of money in your bank account, or having someone waiting for you to come home, but a sense of security isn’t something tangible or physical that you can achieve or possess. It’s a belief. It’s a belief that you’re able to face any problem and that life will go on. It’s a belief that the one that you love will be faithful and supportive. It’s a type of belief that allows you to be confident to face uncertainty. And thus, a sense of security is something that only you can give yourself. I really like that little food for thought because it’s a great reminder to be self-dependent and to not rely on external gratification. Que sera sera. What will be will be. Don’t get too hung over on failure and don’t let stress dominate your life.
Note: Watching this at the same time as You Are My Glory is extremely humbling. YAMG is an idol drama, and so they make the romance look so easy. Heck, idol dramas make being a protagonist easy. The protagonist is destined to stand out from the crowd. It’s easy to be noticed. It’s easy to cause a change in the status quo. But ROTP is a reminder that we’re all practically nobodies in the big city. It feels impossible to make an impression when there are millions of other people living almost the same life as you are. There’s nothing special about you, and it’s hard to find meaning and purpose. Obviously, the drama shows that even when it feels like you’re trying to swim upstream in a big city, we each have a life worth living. We may feel insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but to our friends and family, we’re their world and they’re ours. I think it was Camus who said that we should find meaning in the face of absurdity. Live in spite of how absurd and meaningless things feels. Anyway, this drama gives you a lot to think about, even though I don’t really like the melodrama they’ve recently added to drag the plot (*cough cough* that explosive argument scene at the end of episode 10 that I keep ranting about). You’d think that a 12-episode drama wouldn’t have filler, and yet here we are.

Ateez reacting to their s/o being insecure during a pregnancy
❦ Genre: Fluff.
❦ Pairing: OT8.
❦ Word count: 2k2.
❦ Requested: Yes, thank you! 🦋
❦ Masterlist.
HONGJOONG
Hongjoong heard you growl or roar, he couldn’t figure it out, in the bathroom. He stood up from his chair and joined you in the room, maybe you needed help. But when he saw that you were standing up well, he asked: “Is everything okay?” You turned around, to face him. “Does it look like I’m okay?” He stepped back. He tried to know if your hormones hit you or if he did something bad. Unexpectedly, you lifted your shirt to show your round belly. “Have you seen these stretches marks?” You asked him. Hongjoong raised a brow, “is it a big deal?” You fixed back your top and walked to the kitchen, still angry. Your fiancé stared at you, ignoring what to do or what to say. Your pregnancy was something uncontrollable for him. Sometimes, he could choose the right words and comfort you but other time, it was a complete failure.
Anyway, this time again he needed to give it a try. Hongjoong followed you and said: “Are you angry because of your hormones?” “No! I’m angry because my body changed a lot! Especially those stretches marks! It’s everywhere on my body.” You sniffled, ready to cry. Hongjoong passed his hands on your belly and kissed your cheek. “I’m pretty sure you can get rid of these marks. And because of your mental and physical strength, you are going to give us an amazing present.” You pouted, resting your hand in his, “are you still going to love me? Even if I look like a zebra?” He chuckled, “of course idiot.” “Promise!” You tend your little finger. “Promise babe.” He replied.
SEONGHWA
It was just a matter of time before you give birth to your daughter. You were buying the last items or outfits she would need to be comfy. Suddenly, something on the rocking-chair got your attention. “What is this babe?” Seonghwa smiled at you, “are you serious?” You stared dumbly at the strange gloves. “Babe, it’s the scratch mittens. Like that she won’t scratch her baby face.” He explained, playing with the imaginary baby fingers. “Ah... I see.” You simply said. Seonghwa was ready to welcome this baby but day by day, you started to doubt about your ability to become a good mom. You were ignoring so many things. Yesterday, you couldn’t even remember how to prepare a good and not too hot bib. You sat on the little seat in the corner of the room. “Y/N? Are you crying?” He asked, not sure. You nodded, hiding your face in your hands. “Are you hurt? Do you want to go at- “How did you learn to be such a good father?” You asked. “I forget or ignore so much things! I’m already a terrible mom!” You busted in tears. Seonghwa crouched down at your level. “I just do my best. And you know like 75% of ‘how to take care of a baby’. I just know the 25% left.” He rested his head on your laps. “There no perfect parents. We are just going to do our best for our little princess.” “Okay,” you sniffled. “I’ll do my best.” “You are already a really good mom. Thank you for taking care of our little angel so well.” He rubbed your face.
YUNHO
This documentary about being a single mom made you anxious. Everything was doing well with Yunho but no one knows what could happen tomorrow. Yunho noticed that you were a bit lost in your thoughts today. It wasn’t the first time since the beginning of your pregnancy. “Do you want to go out for a little walk?” He asked you. “Now? It’s pretty late?” You looked at the time on your phone. “But the weather is really good! Come on! When the baby will be here, we won’t do that before a long time!” He had a point, you thought. “Okay... but no more than 1 hour! I don’t want to be a single mom!” Yunho didn’t add anything but your comment made him curious. During your little walk, your fiancé noticed that you were holding his hand the whole time. But not like usual. It was tighter. “Are you okay sweetheart?” He finally asked. “Hum? Yes, why?” “You look... anxious or lost in your thoughts.” Yunho knew you to well. “It’s okay,” you smiled. “It’s just a stupid insecurity.” He stopped, pulling you closer to him by your hand. “Tell me. Don’t keep this for yourself.” You stared right at him. He was your fiancé and the future dad of your baby. But you didn’t want to worry him, so you just said: “You are not going to leave me, right?” You asked. “When the baby will be here... we are going to be a happy family huh?” Yunho was surprised but it made him soft in the same time. “I am not going anywhere babe. I will always be there for you and our little boy okay?” He kissed your knuckles. “Don’t ever think of leaving me okay?” You repeated. “I would never do that Y/N.” He smiled.
YEOSANG
You changed your position for the 36th time. With the size of your belly and now your breasts, you couldn’t find the perfect position to lay on. You were aware that your belly rounded a lot but your breasts, it’s another story. Pissed, you turned on the light stand and stood up to reach your mirror. You looked at your whole body. Your face was almost the same. The only thing which surprised you was your breast. It had a huge difference. All of your bras would end in the trash after this pregnancy. “Y/N? Why are you awake?” Asked Yeosang, sleepily. You turned around and sat on the edge of the bed. “Are my breasts disgusting?” You asked, worried. Yeosang blinked few times. Were you really worrying about your body proportions at 2AM? “So? Should I take this long silence for a yes?” “Huh? Wait Y/N, this is non-sense.” He instantly gulped when he saw the look you gave him. “I mean, no- it’s not disgusting! Just different. But in a good way!” “Are you sure? I feel like it’s too much.” You claimed, cupping your breasts sadly. Your fiancé could almost get a blood running nose at the scene you showed him. “You are still pretty.” He looked away. “To be honest, pregnancy fits you well.” “Really?” You smiled widely. He nodded, “really, you are glowing?” You narrowed your eyebrows, “are you telling me this so you can go back to sleep? Or to comfort me?” He kissed your cheek before slipping back under the sheets. “Both. But for real. You are gorgeous. I’ll need to make you pregnant again. And sooner with your new breast size.” “Perv!” You throw your pillow on him.
SAN
You were at your 6 months of pregnancy. It was a new world for you. Your body was getting different, your hormones were playing with you too and sometimes on San too. You started to get used to your new body but the only thing you couldn’t deal with was your weight. You gained so much weight in only 6 months that you started to be insecure. San was always saying that you looked more loveable now. But you could get a piece of lettuce in your teeth, he would say that you look cute. “A whale...” you whispered, looking at your profile. “Whale?” Repeated San, lifting his eyes off his phone. “Yes! For real! Look at me San!” You turned around. “This baby is driving me crazy.” You busted in tears. “Wow wow wow Y/N! Relax!” Claimed San. “Relax?” You grabbed a tissue on your nightstand. “Do you know how it feels to see your body, if I still can call it like that, changing like this?” You almost shouted. “I can’t even see my feet anymore.” “Y/N... your weight isn’t a big deal?” Said San calmly. “It’s just a matter of time.” “It’s only 6 months... how I will look at the end? You are going to leave me for a prettiest girl.” You sobbed. “Babe. I would never leave you. I love you when you are skinny, chubby or thick. Even when you have make-up on or not. I love all of your facade. And I love you more because you were strong enough to carry our baby.” He hugged you. “You couldn’t tell me that earlier? I would not cry like a baby!” You pinched his arm, sobbing. “It’s okay, like that I’ll get 2 crybabies.” He giggled. You scoffed, “I can’t wait.”
MINGI
Even if your doctor almost begged you to rest and stay on your bed till the end of your pregnancy. But you had so much things to do or to adjust before, to welcome this baby well. When Mingi came back from his practice, he would never imagine finding you cleaning all the cupboards on the kitchen. “Y/N? Are you crazy?” He yelled at you. “You should be on the bed right now.” “I know. But I was thirsty.” “Then why are you cleaning?” He ripped the sponge off your hand. “I saw a dirty spot and another one there, and there too, and-“ you pointed at all the cupboards. “Y/N. What is going on? I know that you go on this extreme cleaning phase when you are stressed.” “Yes, I’m insecure right now!” You explained. “What if we are not enough ready huh? Do you know how this baby can be happy?” You asked, almost crying. “What? Yes of course, he’s going to be happy.” He simply relied. “This baby is going to be the happiest baby in the world.” “You said that because you want me to rest.” You rolled your eyes. “No! I said that because you are already a good mom.” He rubbed the back of your head. “I know that he’s already the happiest. You told him uncountable of jokes and stories. I’m sure he’s laughing inside.” He pinched your cheeks playfully. “Or, he’s simply happy to be your son.” Seeing Mingi so happy made your emotional but you busted in tears there. “Thank you so much,” you whined, hugging your boyfriend tightly. “Hormones...” whispered Mingi a bit done.
WOOYOUNG
“Y/N? Are you ready? We are going to be late!” Yelled Wooyoung from the living-room. You entered the room, throwing your favorite dress on the couch. “I don’t go to the restaurant anymore.” You let him know. “What? Why? You know that San would be happy to see you at this birthday party!” “Then I’ll send him a text and apologize.” Wooyoung grabbed your dress. “Why do you want to stay at home?” “Because nothing fits me anymore!” You confessed. “My favorite outfit, my make-up! Even my shoes!” You pointed at your feet. “Do you know that feet could gain weight too?” You yelled before storming back to your bedroom. Wooyoung blinked, not understand why a sudden change. [“We are going to be late.”] He texted his friends. Your fiancé entered the bedroom slowly. Seeing you so sad made him feel ashamed. He needs to find something to comfort you. He sat on the bed, rubbing your arm. “Babe... do you want me to bring snacks and drinks?” You shook your head. “I need to lose weight. I can’t it eat.” “Y/N... I don’t know what you are going through because I am not a woman but... I know that you are a strong and smart girl.” He claimed. “Yes... your body is going to change a lot. You will need some time to get used to this change, but you will be and stay a really attractive girl. No matter what. Weight isn’t going to define how pretty you are.” He kissed your shoulders. You finally turned around, “when did you learned to be so mature?” You asked, wiping your tears. “Since I’m going to be a dad.” He winked. You smiled, holding his hand. “Okay mature boy. Let’s get ready for San’s birthday.”
JONGHO
“So, Y/N, when are you going to give us our little niece?” Asked Yunho, giving you a glass of orange water. “Hum... in 3 weeks. If this little girl wants to.” You giggled. “Are you prepared enough?” Made sure Seonghwa. “Huh... I guess?” You replied not really sure. “She’s going to do well,” added Hongjoong. “Are you going to give birth at home or at the hospital?” Asked Mingi. “Huh-“ “Hospital! What if something bad happens?” Stated Yunho. “Well okay... I need to go to the restroom okay?” You said, trying to leave as fast as possible. When you exited the living-room, you stood up against the wall trying to calm down your heartbeat an reduce the stress. Being pregnant made you feel insecure but the thought of giving birth was worse. What if you do something wrong? “Y/N? You are not with the boys?” Asked Jongho, pizzas in his hands. You just shook your head, still doubting about your abilities. “Do you think I’ll do great?” “Great? Do what?” He removed his shoes. “Giving birth. Do you think I will do great?” Jongho stayed speechless for few seconds. “You are one of the bravest women I know. You will do good for sure!” I could bet my career.” He pecked your lips lightly. “But what if something-“ you stated. “We can make a new world with “ifs” Y/N.” He smiled. “Don’t be afraid. I will be right there with you.” “Then okay...” you said, not fully reassured but convinced that you will go through this big step with your fiancé. “Let’s go eat! Pretty sure our baby is hungry too.” He rubbed your belly softly.

Warning: Tsunami talk.
I was reading the reports of the 10th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake, which prompted me to buy Richard Lloyd Parry's Ghosts of the Tsunami, one of the most powerful books I have read in a very long time. Be warned it is, unsurprisingly, emotionally heavy going, focusing on what happened at Okawa Elementary School, where 74 kids and 10 teachers died. (In total, only 351 out of more than 18,000 victims of the earthquake were children. Of those, only 75 were in the care of their teachers at the time. All but one died at Okawa Elementary.)
I am kind of hung up on that disaster because I was in Tokyo on that day, on the 36th floor of a building that rocked like a ship in rough weather. Nothing bad actually happened to us, though the following two weeks were one of the most anxious times in my life thanks to the Fukushima disaster. But my proximate experience, tiny as it was in comparison with anything that people on the north east coast and in Fukushima suffered, makes me sensitive to anything about that disaster.
I have also been watching a bunch of the videos that people took of the tsunami, which continue absolutely to shock me with just how powerful that thing was. Literal obliteration. (The link is to a YouTube video of the tsunami hitting Minami Sanriku Cho. The first 6 minutes or so show basically all the buildings getting completely pulverized into matchsticks.)
Horrifying.
