Today I went ahead and maxed out the RAM to 64, but with 3600mhz instead of 3200 for higher frequency. The performance increase is merely by a margin but I mainly did it to future proof. I get so tired just thinking about the GPU, processor, power supply and motherboard lol. By then I will have bought an entirely new desktop.
I already have someone ready to buy my old 32GB RAM, just waiting on someone to get the original 16GB the desktop came with. I also have two extra monitors I still need to get rid of.

Yeah...that's my wallet finding out I'm going to have to spend at least $4,000.00 to run inZOI decently on my computer. The thing is that you can no longer play these newest games on "integrated graphics chips". You have to get a dedicated card. My wife wants to play Dragon Age 4 (The Veilguard) which is coming out on October 31, 2024. And those games are just as intense on hardware as it is with inZOI.

It's over and above what is pictured in MSFS2020. Chillblast said that the "recommended specs" for FS2024 is the following:

I'm calling HORSESHIT on that right now. I'm saying it's more in the realm of what inZOI and Dragon Age the Veilguard is putting out. You don't get that kind of gaming experience with the specs Chillblast espouses. Especially on the processor and graphics end of things. After all, on the FS forum board, the recommended specs being tossed about just for FS2020 is the following:
Intel i7-12700K CPU
Z690 motherboard
32GB DDR4 3600mhz RAM (upgrades for this on the site are very cheap, but like you said I’ve seen a couple instances where this RAM outperforms most others)
1TB SSD
Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti
Liquid cooled, nice case, 850 watt power supply, etc
Frankly as far as I'm concerned, I'm tempted to go all out and perhaps go so far as investing in:
i9-13900K CPU
64GB RAM DDR4
4TB SSD
NVidia RTX 4090
Z790 GAMING X AX
at least a 1000watt power supply so that I can run peripherals like scanners and other photographic requirements...on top of just my gaming shit.

I'm sure there will be detractors going, "You don't need that kind of hardware to play Sims 3...or the current games"...well, the main thing in building a system is that you have to shell out for future proofing (as much as technology development allows at any given time) so that you don't have to spend as much money upgrading your computer system on an yearly basis as opposed to once every three to five years and that Sims 3 is not the only game that I play. And the new releases coming out are that graphics-intensive...
I play SWTOR currently and I'm finding that the game stutters especially when there is a lot of people on a server. I want to minimize that so I'm thinking the more RAM I have and the better the video card, I'll get a little less lag out of it and that will help when I'm taking on Imp or Pub forces whichever side I'm playing against at the time. That and maybe improved graphics to the point where it looks semi-realistic. I'm also planning to get Dragon Age 1-3 and then Dragon Age 4 as well. Plus there are a few other graphics intensive games such as Digital Combat Simulator World (DCS: World) as well that are attracting my attention. I may even get into Call of Duty (depending on the feasibility of the user controls.
Mass Effect drives me absolutely friggin' nuts when it comes to controlling my character Shepard - she's a "femShep". I have to key-bind my movement keys to keys that I'm familiar with in order to keep from going bug-frickin' mental. That also messes with the shoot key too. I'll get there someday. In the words of the ever-immortal Maverick Mitchell:
So in a nutshell, these latest games if not forcing people to upgrade to a better class of gaming PC, will find that a lot of people with restrictive budgets may just drop out of the PC market and try to find it on console (if they play console games) no matter how restrictive the console games are in comparison to the PC versions as opposed to spending $4000 on a new gaming system. A standard PS5 is $499.95 CDN as opposed to spending 10X that much trying to set up a PC to be able to play these newer games. Add a couple hundred dollars buying a hard-drive for these consoles will maybe bring that amount to around $600.00 still much cheaper than buying a whole new PC. Dragon Age the Veilguard will only be released for PS5 and PC - No plans in the works for XBOX Series X as far as I know. And for now, inZOI is PC release only (with an intent to release to console later on down the road - though who knows when that will be) Why though am I looking at a new PC on a restrictive budget? Well, it's because I want to play the games in their full graphics and be unrestricted and potentially moddable states. Does it mean I'm going to have to save a lot of money while waiting on a new PC? Yes. Do I have the patience to wait? Yes...I'm in my fifties, I've waited this long...might as well.

Why is this asus/rog store selling a pc with 16gb of ddr4 ram (with xmp not enabled/2133mhz) and a 3070 for $5000aud
and one with an Intel ultra 7, a 3080ti, and 16gb of ddr5 ram (4800mhz which if I remember correctly is the base speed and not xmp) for $8000aud
Like I know prebuilts are generally marked up an unreasonable amount (even considering build labour cost) but I built my pc for less than $3k aud three years ago and it’s got a 5700x, a 3080 (an rog one as well), and 32gb of ddr4 ram (3600mhz with xmp) with a 2tb m.2 ssd and a 2tb hard drive (both the store’s systems only had one drive so. Y’know). Also I bought an unnecessarily expensive case because I wanted good aircooling potential and also pretty (I also definitely spent at least an extra 30-60 bucks buying all white parts for stupid reasons)

NEW ‘PUTER
a friend needed to sell their pc, and i decided to throw a couple upgrades in it since it’s new to me and i’ve been lowkey planning on getting a tower after i figure out taxes this month
so i ended up swapping out their old 2080ti for a 4070ti Super, upgraded the PSU since the 40 series needs a special cable, added 2x32 RAM to the existing 2x16 at the same speeds, both are DDR4 3600mhz, and installed a new hard drive since i told them to pull theirs and keep it somewhere so they don’t lose everything, and the cpu (i9-9900 something) is water cooled
need to pickup a displayport cable on the way home today to plug the new baby into my ultrawide but i got windows flashed and steam installed and logged into and queued a bunch of my games to download over night
bitch is *excited* to get home today

PC Upgrade Journey!

I've mentioned here before how I've wanted to upgrade my almost 4 years old pc to something nicer, but I'm very against changing stuff for luxury instead of replacing things that no longer work, and it lasted for 3,5 long years, fortunately. The funniest part is that the upgrade hype really kicked in because my power supply broke.
So as I'm very invested now in getting some things in better shape I thought it might be funny to document the changes and see the final result vs the start!
And here's a special thank you for my lovely commissioners who support me and make it possible for me to enhance my work tools/work space!! 💖

Starting by my original configurations that are soon to change:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10400F;
Asus PRIME H410M-E DDR4 LGA1200;
T-Force Vulcan Pichau 16GB DDR4 3600MHz red (2x, only 1 originally);
Afox GeForce GTX 1050TI 4GB;
Lexar NS100 128GB 2.5" Sata III;
HD Toshiba P300 1TB 3.5" Sata III;
Mancer Thunder 500W Bronze 80 Plus (it broke and i bought the exact same, bc it worked long enough);
Mancer Fans 120mm Z100 in blue, green and red (i was so dumb choosing those fr);
Cabinet Pichau Gaming Kronen;
The whole setup costed exactly R$4,000 in February 2021 (around $750 at the time), it was custom settings and the store put it together before sending my way.

Right now I'm planning to make long term upgrades, starting by aesthetics and then weaker parts. Great news is that my computer is really well kept and all it's parts are in good condition, so I'll sell the old ones here in my country after upgrading
I'm aiming at a pleasant white and black PC with aRGB LEDs, inspired by my goal video card RTX 4060 Aero OC Gigabyte 8GB, I want to make a beautiful (and strong) setup!
Plans are: cabinet and fans are already bought, I'll buy the video card on black friday and, after I'm done paying it, a new motherboard + CPU and possibly new vRAM next year around second semester (depending on my financial situation).
This will be a wild run!

Alright RAM and headset have been ordered. They won't get here in time for this weekend's game of Enshrouded but next weekend should be good.
I don't know a whole lot about RAM. I ended up getting the Corsair 64gb modules. It has 3600mhz. I'm not sure how great that is for DDR4 but it's faster than the cheaper memory sticks that were 3200. I see DDR5 is up to 6000mhz but that requires a new motherboard.
As for the headset it has 3 input modes. There's a bluetooth option which I'm going to avoid since I'm sure that's what's causing my current audio problems. There's a 2.4ghz USB dongle for non-bluetooth wireless. Finally if all else fails there's an option to use an AUX cable.
My next weak point in the system is my video card. I have a GTX 1660TI with 6gb of V-RAM. Since I don't care about ray-tracing and I hardly ever play any new games it shouldn't need to be replaced anytime soon.

Thank you! It’s mostly used for gaming, as I do not work from home, but I do also use it for my university coursework (which is primarily just using Microsoft Office Suite programs, Canva, Canvas Student and my digital textbooks via Chrome).
Here is the general list of specs of my PC:

It performs very well. I have had no issues playing things like Diablo 4, Fortnite and Hogwarts Legacy on max settings. I think the hottest I’ve seen my GPU get was around 60-65°C? And that was after a few hours at max settings. Otherwise, my CPU, GPU usage and temps are quite low (25-32°C on average) with the CPU, GPU and RAM usage also always being quite low. It’s a pretty high end build in my opinion. Cost about $2500 CAD with taxes and all ($1900 USD) so I mean I should hope it performs pretty fucking well 😂
But yeah, I’ve had zero complaints about it!
