Proverbs 6- Life Lessons
The Passion Translation (TPT)-
Suggested song:
This chapter will probably hit a few between the eyes. But, remember that the Lord corrects in love, if you feel anything else but that, ask yourself why you are offended? If it is anything else but love, that is not from the Lord. The first part talks about handling business, the importance of why not to procrastinate, and the consequences to adultery.
With the mysterious ways that God works, I love that there is a cut and dry list of the 7 things God hates. This chapter is very straightforward in calling out the depravity of mankind in the world that sometimes we may get consumed by or that we may just be around. It’s important to be cautious. But, thankfully, God is so holy and pure that this list of things He hates reminds us of His character and the wonderful God we serve. If you think back to Genesis when He destroyed most of the human race because they were so consumed with sin, it is also a reminder of how much He hates sin. However, BECAUSE of His active hate for sin it’s important to look towards the Calvary and remember that He surrendered His own Son so that sin would be forever defeated and the sting of death would fall flat. Sure, sin is still an issue but, the depth of God’s grace runs so, so deep that we can move forward in victory.
So lets get to the point of those 7 things He hates:
1. Haughty eyes. This, I believe speaks volumes that this is #1 on His list because this is pride. This is the VERY reason why the devil fell. God can easily humble someone who won’t bow before Him in humility. I mean, Jesus knelt down and washed His disciples feet in humility (John 13:1-17). Jesus. The King of Kings, straight from Heaven, washing feet. Think about that.
2. A lying tongue. Humans are humans, we’re going to fall sometimes and yeah I didn’t want to admit I took a cookie from the cookie jar. But, a lie is a lie is a lie, there isn’t getting around it. Remember too that the devil is the father of lies (John 8:44). I will remind over and over until my voice gives out that that is the beauty of God because He forgives, He understands, and His grace is here to catch us when we fall. But, don’t take advantage of it, He knows whats in your heart.
3. Heartless cruelty. This is hands that shed innocent blood. But don’t think that if you hadn’t murdered anyone that you’re free from making this mistake. If you think back to Genesis once again and remember that Cain shed innocent blood when he killed Abel, it’s more than that. Just to jump forward some chapters, Proverbs 18:21 says the tongue has the power of life AND death. Think about anyone who you may hate or have spoken judgements upon etc. Well, technically that makes you a murderer. 1 John 3:14-15 warns us that hating someone makes us murderers in our hearts. BUT, once again, it’s okay to make mistakes, God looks deeper than the surface. Just ask for forgiveness.
4. Vicious scheming. When we let our flesh take control of us, the sinful passions aroused by the law are at work in our bodies so that we bear the fruit for death (Romans 7:5). Our flesh wants whats in this world. We are supposed to die daily and let our spirit man rise up and take charge.
5. Mischievous eagerness. These are people who rush to do evil. These people who clearly operate in their flesh are the kind of people who get no rest until they’ve caused destruction. People before the flood were planning or were already practicing wickedness and God’s judgement came like a wave (Genesis 6:5-7). Once again, people of Sodom were practicing their perverted lifestyle and God’s judgement came once again (Genesis 19:24-26). someone who lives a life like this can’t get away from God’s judgement.
6. Social slander. A false witness who pours out lies. This is pretty straight forward. Gossipers and people who for the sake of speaking will curse people for no good reason. Every single person in the entire world is a brother or sister in Christ. Which means that God as our Father loves each and every single one of them, including you, and that means you must love them too.
7. Divisive strife. I’ve read elsewhere that this is probably the worst of them all. This includes the people who seek division by gossip and opinions. The Lord LOVES unity because a kingdom divided itself can’t stand, a house divided against itself cannot stand (Matthew 12:22-28). Well, in the end times when the the Lord takes us to the Kingdom of Heaven, there shouldn’t be any division. Why do you think the devil always attacks the church? Because a house divided against itself cannot stand.
Lord, I come before you now and I thank you that you are a God of mercy and grace. I thank you that You are so pure and holy. I ask that You search my heart and take out any offensive way in me. In anyway that I haven’t been humble, or have lied, gossiped, divided, schemed I ask that You forgive me. I ask for Your guidance and love to overcome me and help me as I live this life day to day. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

A sluggard says, “There’s a lion in the road, a fierce lion roaming the streets!” As a door turns on its hinges, so a sluggard turns on his bed. A sluggard buries his hand in the dish; he is too lazy to bring it back to his mouth. A sluggard is wiser in his own eyes than seven people who answer discreetly. wonder if anyone noticed, but I used succulents for all of the graphics I made for this study. Succulents are a thick, drought-hardy plant that not only stores water in its leaves and stems, but can also thrive on limited water resources, such as dew or mist. Can you see how valuable it would be to store up God’s Word and the lessons we’ve learned so that when the dry or difficult times come we are prepared. Saturating ourselves with the Truth of the Bible equips us for whatever lies in our future.@ wateringcanblog.com #31daysofproverbs #proverbs31 #wisdom #Bible #truth #proverbs31women #inspiration #inspirationalquotes #elisabethelliot #faithblogger #wateringcanblog (at Freeburg, Illinois) https://www.instagram.com/p/BtTmBeCn9SR/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=es2z225wr0ah

Proverbs 2- Simple Knowledge
The Passion Translation (TPT)-
Suggested song: First Love- Jonathan David Helser, Melissa Helser
Proverbs 2 starts off by simply saying “my child”. I believe that what God is establishing right now is a form of intimacy. Before I knew Jesus, I never knew that that word was something special or that we all crave intimacy. This special word brings forth closeness, and a type of familiarity which reminds me of the verse in Jeremiah 1:5 that says “before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart”. To be taken back to where we started, in the arms of the Father where you could only feel nothing but His agape love.
This kind of wisdom that Proverbs 2 is talking about is not simple knowledge. This is the kind that is only received through fervently seeking God. The more you align yourself with God the more you will want what He wants and He only wants what’s good for you. Once you get to that place of wanting what God wants for you, you’ll crave for more of this Godly wisdom. As humans, we are so easily led astray that we have to begin to advocate for ourselves. Imagine this, God has this giant box that He presents to you; big red bow and everything. He tells you “Just hold out your hands, and it’s yours. It has your name on it”. In order for you to even know that He has a gift waiting for you, you have to know that He is there. Then, once you get to that place, He presents that big box with a big red bow on it to you. Once you open it, it’s not material things, no. It’s full of wisdom that continues to flow through you because now you’ve unlocked a special part of you that you allowed God to move in.
Verse 4 tells you to seek this gift like a man would seek for sterling silver, searching in hidden places for cherished treasure, then you will discover the fear of the Lord, and find the true knowledge of God.
Here is something comforting, verse 7-8, “for the Lord has a hidden storehouse of wisdom made accessible to his godly lovers. He becomes your personal bodyguard as you follow His ways, protecting and guarding you as you choose what is right”.
Verse 9, “then you will discover all that is just, proper, and fair, and be empowered to make the right decisions as you walk into your destiny.”
God created you and all that you are. He has a book up in Heaven with your name on it and a whole timeline of your entire life and everything that you are from when He began to carefully knit you (Psalm 139:16). From the wrinkle on the bottom of your foot to each hair particle that is on top of your head. Aligning with the creator of Heaven and Earth sounds like your best bet because not only is He able to take care of you and give you the inheritance of the throne in Heaven (Romans 8:17), but, He will also defend you on Earth AND love you like no one else.
Now, we’re only in chapter 2 of Proverbs but already have we been warned of sexual lust. This smooth-talking seductress (v.16), this woman who left her husband and forgotten her wedding vows (v.17). Stay on the right path and receive what God has for you. The wisdom being offered, will guide you away from trouble and verse 21 tells gives you a promise that those who love God will enjoy life to the fullest and will inherit their destinies. and verse 22 says that the treacherous ones who love darkness will not only lose all they could have had, they will even lose their own souls.
Again, this sounds heavy and almost discouraging. But God is a God of grace, patience, love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness and He knows your heart. If you are doing what you can do, and yielding to the Father’s will for you He will not let you go further than you can handle. Everything you go through is for a reason.
Father I ask that you search my heart for any offensive way in me. In anyway that I have allowed darkness to enter I call in You to overflow so that there is nothing but You, God, within me. I know that You will not let me fall because You love me and You want me to succeed. I ask, Lord, that You comfort me in my time of need and guide me where I need to be guided. I want that gift that You have so generously offered me that is full of wisdom. I want more of God, and less of me. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Doing the #31daysofproverbs challenge. Day 1. "If sinners entice you, turn your back on them! They may say, "Come & join us. Let's hide & kill someone! Let's ambush the innocent! Let's swallow them alive as the grave swallows it's victims. Don't go along with them, stay away from their paths

#proverbs #31daysofproverbs #bible #teamjesus #christian Do not let your heart envy sinners, but always be zealous for the fear of the Lord. There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off. Listen, my son, and be wise, and set your heart on the right path: Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat, for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags. (Proverbs 23:17-21 NIV)
