Meet Leia' Love: @leialovesalon “Every year I try to do something for breast cancer awareness. (This year was a little different because it hit closer to home.) I started thinking and thought why not do some makeovers on survivors and those who are in support of bringing awareness about breast cancer. Earlier this year I lost one of my clients to breast cancer. I remember maybe her second or third visit I couldn't get her nail request right so I just told her I would not be upset or offended if she went somewhere else and she stopped me during my sentence to tell me she wasn't going anywhere and I was going to do her nails until I got it right. That was during my first year of being open for business and I have really valued the fact that she was so committed to me in my business and helping me raise my standards for myself. She was tough as nails and I really miss her and our conversations. When she was diagnosed with breast cancer a couple years ago she helped me with my video to win the Vidal Sassoon scholarship. I asked her to be on the video she was a little reluctant because she didn't want anybody to know her cancer was back but she told me she wanted me to win more so whatever I needed she would help me with. The type of person that would do anything to help anyone out. As I started doing the makeovers I realized this was yet another part of being able to help change women's lives because I watched as their personalities shifted from when they walked in to letting loose with the photoshoot. We were doing more than just playing in makeup--- we were celebrating life! Taking a moment to pause and celebrate those who are fighting, surviving, and those supporting the fighters.
