Hammond Report June 30 2021 From Pandemic Quarantino Jon Hammond - Daily Music and Stories from the organist & accordionist Jon Hammond, today's music story is about playing original tune 'Hip Hop Chitlins' with my band on 57th Street in NYC at the old Mediasound Studios which became Le Bar Bat - on the band the late great Bay Area Funk drummer James Preston, Alex Foster on tenor saxophone, Chuggy Carter congas & percussion, Barry Finnerty guitar and yours truly Jon Hammond at the organ.

Daily 30June2021

1320 Central Standard Time

Oh, boy.....That boy is dreaming up some heat, tonight. Seriously....from the small flashes of his dreams I have gotten....Wow. I get the feeling I am in for it.

Oddly, though, it isn't just bedroom thoughts in his dreams. It's quiet mornings over coffee while we wait for the kids to wake up. It's evenings, after they have gone to bed, and slowly swaying in the living room to 'nigh-nigh music'. It's work and coming home. It's not being home for what seems like forever, and then finally getting to go home.

He has dreamt of us, almost dancing around each other in the kitchen while we fix supper. Of nights spent swaying in a hammock on the deck. Of the kids shrieking 'Ahh-TaYYY' as the four of them play tag.

But, the best dreams are of him, knee deep in a cool creek, teaching two toddlers about how we act in nature, about respecting our place in the web. The ones of us teaching them about where food really comes from and how to be self-sufficient.

Honestly, I love most of his dreams. I say most, because there are the ones that are dreams of work; of rewards and accolades that come with his job. Don't get me wrong, he has worked hard for those, but it's because they take him away for so long.
