I edited the lighting in some 3.8 screenshots as lighting practise (notes and original colours below)

Eula was really easy with a simple airbrush ambience lighting and rim lights, but Collei I had to basically redo the key light while imagining an offscreen light on the left side that’s separate from the spotlight, but also airbrushed some red ambient light so the contrast isn’t so harsh (and to imitate the in-game bloom effect)

original colours (….yes, the background I kept the exact same, but redid the lighting on the characters so it makes more sense, to me..)

Also I edited the base colours (aka “off-filter” version straight from the original screenshot) for Collei a bit so her hair and skin tone is darker

Imagine Albedo seeing you wearing a Witch outfit

(I Haven't played the new event yet! But all the fanarts I've seen tell me it's wonderful, and inspired me. By the way, sorry for my bad english)

On an inconvenient afternoon, high-pitched giggles filled Albedo's laboratory. Who else could it be but Klee, excitedly twirling in her new witch-inspired dress? You couldn't help but find all those ruffles and adorable details utterly endearing.

Curiosity piqued, you noticed something peculiar inside the delicate box that held the small dress. There was another dress, larger in size, but with a different color, yet still following the witchy concept. You wondered why it was there, but the temptation to try it on overcame you, and you made your way to your room, slipping into the dress.

As you stepped out, wearing the enchanting attire, you found yourself face to face with Albedo. His eyes widened, a light blush tinging his pale cheeks. With a soft chuckle he observed you and then he spoke, "You could have told me that you and Klee had planned match outfits."

Your face flushed with embarrassment, and you fidgeted nervously with the hem of your dress. Your lips parted slightly, ready to begin an explanation, but Klee's excited little footsteps arrived faster, and both her eyes and her smile widened upon seeing you. "[Name] is a witch too! Come on, come on, Uncle Kaeya will love to see us like this!"

Klee exclaimed, tugging you towards the door.

Albedo let you two go, mentally noting that he definitely had to paint you later...

Why Kaeya’s Sailwind Shadow outfit from the Secret Summer Paradise event is the way it is (contains spoilers for the event)

 I finished all the Secret Summer Paradise event quests, and it hit me in the end why Kaeya’s vision is different or fixed. You could say in his new Sailwind Shadow outfit, in the quest dubbed as the dagger bandit outfit.

 Because that’s Kaeya’s wish, that’s him being given a moment of mirage. That he too can be free from his shackles and burden. That he can abandon the position besdowed upon him by fate. Or perhaps that he doesn’t have to choose and can be both a Monstadter and a Khaenri’ahn.

 But it’s all only a momentary fix/resolve to his problems. 

 In the end as Idyia says in the end and sort of something Kaeya and the others realized. The wishes of the founders of the lamp in the story and also the wishes of the visitors can only be granted/exist inside the bottle.

SO...

 Only inside the magical bottle can Kaeya’s vision have three wings, while at the same time sport a Khaenri’ahn star behind it. Only inside the bottle can Kaeya feel free of his burden and feel like he too can belong. 

Kaeya doesn’t mind the role of the Dagger Bandit, because in this bottle world he can be both a knight and a bandit, stand both on the good and the bad side. (this is also just a nudge to Kaeya’s existance as a hidden Khaenria’hn pawn in Monstadt taking also on a role of a knight. Basically playing a double role.)

But even Kaeya realizes this is only a dream, a play, a farytale. The opposition to Kaeya’s own words lays in the desrciption of the outfit, which starts as a dialog between Kaeya and Klee, but mostly it shines light to Kaeya’s inner thoughts.

 And during his inner monolog, he brings out that the roles of people/characters have been given to them and thus dictated by fate. As he says a Bandit can’t carry out the role of a Knight and vice versa a Knight shouldn’t do shady stuff and backstabing. The ugly reality of Kaeya’s life and the world of tevyat is that a person/character needs to play out their role according to the rules/plan, otherwise they are betraying fate itself.

And as we have learned so far in the Genshin story, Fate can hardly be overturned. Each characters role has been pretty much set in stone by fate.

But Kaeya doesn’t yet want to ruin Klee’s wondrous innocence and thus he leaves that out and fills it with tales, as he recognizes that fate can be defided in dreams and farytales, which kind of fabricates a made up oppostion.

There’s much more details hidden in the desciption, but for this now, I’m only bringing out the related stuff. (*cough* story of the bandit as a kid is probably just Kaeya’s childhood hidden in a farytale.*cough*..plssss Kaeya tell me the story!!!)

Anyways, I am going now, to brood over this whole connection. 

Kaeya has managed to hide his reality behind a sunny, funny and cute summer event. Many of us thought this outfit was Hoyo tying the loose ends, but no, instead they brough us to the loose and showed us what it could be, but then snapped their fingers and ripped it away, telling us this is something Kaeya will not be given.

I was wondering during the trailer why there’s this Fellflower-like decoration on the stage

…….it’s ‘cause Whooperflowers are masters of disguise, huh. and it seems illusions/stage/water are prominent motifs in this event… interesting

The event story quest is good, I don't know why, I felt so much emotion at the cut scene, the feeling that resonates some of their stories within me, Idyia said that she sometimes feel lonely but not sad, thinking that she only has the hydro eidolons to portray the people she met in the bottle. Her low self esteem and her shyness, ahhh so beautiful and well written character 💖

Hi! hope you're doing well. If you still do character analyses, could you do one with Eula? I'd love to hear your take on her, particularly her character flaws and her coping mechanisms (if you're comfortable with it ofc). Just a side note and you don't have to do this if you don't want to, but can you contrast her with Kazuha? I feel like they reflect each other somewhat but I can't quite put a pin on it.

First off, let me apologize for taking so long with this. It took way more reading up than I was expecting. I’m going to be honest and admit that I am not 100% confident in my analysis as I did not read everything, so there still may be things that are lacking or wrong. Take everything with a grain of salt.

Eula is a very interesting person as a whole. For everything she went through in her life, one would expect her to be a misanthrope, someone that has closed off her heart to the world. You would think she would be bitter or hurt by the way she has been treated by others. Eula proves to be the exact opposite, though? While she purposefully puts on an icy exterior, deep down she shows a very pure face to the world. She doesn’t avoid people. She’s always open to helping. She’s kind. She’s forgiving. She worries what others think of her, etc.

As for character flaws, I don’t think she really has any. Though I’m not sure what you would define as a character flaw. As for her coping mechanisms, it seems to me that she puts on an icy exterior with promises of revenge to give her the strength to deal with the prejudice of others. “If I present myself to be a haughty noble, I will not be hurt when people treat me that way.” That being said, I feel that while it may have started off as a coping mechanism, it’s more of a quirk now.

The thing with coping mechanisms is that for it to be one, one has to be coping with something. Eula does not show much evidence of being insecure of her background. While I’m not saying she wears it with pride, she doesn’t hide from it either. She doesn’t show any signs of getting down on herself when treated with prejudice, but lets those things slide off of her easily. In my opinion, she’s a very strong person that doesn’t seem to be bothered by her past anymore.

As for how she contrasts with Kazuha, I admit I’m having a hard time seeing where they relate. If I had to point out one thing, it’s how Eula faces her problems head on while Kazuha tends to avoid his. Where Eula is like a mountain, Kazuha is like the wind. Eula directly interacts with the people of Mondstadt despite their prejudice. Kazuha, though having multiple calls to stay in Inazuma and connect with his past and clan, is always seen traveling.

At least, that’s how I see they connect. If you could describe to me how you feel they relate, could you let me know? I’d love to see them in a different way.

Congrats to Kaeya for being the first character (in my memory) in Genshin to have both a story quest and hangout event!

Also I love his new skin, I’ve been taking a break from Genshin but fuck I’m certainly gonna start playing again because of this
