Below is a list of television episodes from the past two to three decades that I find memorable:

MEMORABLE TELEVISION EPISODES

1.  “BABYLON 5″ (3.10) “Severed Dreams” - When President Clark of Earth Alliance escalates his brutal repression upon Earth’s population, Captain John Sheridan of Babylon 5 declares the space station independent.  Hugo Award winner.

2.  “GAME OF THRONES” (3.09) “The Rains of Castamere” - The new King of the North, Lord Robb Stark, his mother Catelyn and his wife Queen Talisa; arrive at the estate The Twins for the wedding of his uncle Edmure Tully to one of Walder Frey’s daughters.  Brandon Stark’s small traveling group decide to split up after a close call with the Freefolk.  And Daenerys Targaryen plans to invade Yunkai in order to free that city’s slaves.

3.  “LOST” (2.07) “The Other 48 Days” - This episode depicted the first 48 days on the island of the surviving Tail Section passengers of Oceanic 815.

4.  “AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.” (1.17) “Turn, Turn, Turn” - In this companion piece to the 2014 movie, “Captain America:  The Winter Soldier”, S.H.I.E.L.D. has been compromised by an old enemy from the past and Agent Phil Coulson’s team do not know whom to trust.

5.  “THE FLASH” (6.09) “Crisis on Infinite Earths: Part Three” - The Arrowverse heroes continue their efforts to prevent the Anti-Monitor from destroying the multiverse and creating a new one. 

6.  “GAME OF THRONES” (1.09) “Baelor” -  Robb goes to war against the Lannisters in an effort to save his father, Eddard “Ned” Stark, imprisoned at King’s Landing.  His half-brother Jon Snow finds himself struggling on deciding if his place is by Robb’s side or with the Night's Watch. Khal Drogo falls ill from an infected battle wound and Daenerys is desperate to save him.

7.  “LOST” (6.14) “The Candidate” - With Jack Shephard's help, the Man in Black rescues the castaways/candidates from Charles Widmore's compound.  But their plans for leaving the island are forced to change.

8.  “BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER” (5.22) “The Gift” - Buffy Summers and her friends prepare for battle when the hell god Glory plans to use her sister Dawn to open up a portal to a demonic dimension.

9.  “D.C.’s LEGENDS OF TOMORROW” (2.17) “Aruba” - The Legends decide to break a cardinal rule of time traveling in order to prevent the Legion of Doom from using the Spear of Destiny to change the world’s reality for good.

10. “BABYLON 5″ (3.22) “Z'ha'dum” - After his supposedly dead wife Anna Sheridan turns up very much alive on Babylon 5, Captain Sheridan ignores previous warnings and  travels with her to the Shadows' homeworld Z'ha'dum.

Lost Rewatch: 2x07 The Other 48 Days

Hey, you know that massive cliffhanger from last episode you probably want an answer to? Well fuck you!

Wow, Eko looks weird without the beard

All the survivors fell into the ocean, and yet Emma is the only one who needs CPR

Eko is such a good guy!

Jesus Christ, Libby, surely you should give some warning before you snap that guys leg into place?

Why would Goodwin immediately draw attention to himself after running out of the jungle screaming for help? He says in a flashback later that he thinks that the plane landed in the water - why not spend five seconds jumping in a lake or something?

Bernard was presumably up that tree for a while, right? So why does it only start to fall when Ana and Goodwin get there?

How was Goodwin able to tell the Others exactly who to take after just a few hours?

You see, Locke? Eko knows to properly dispose of a bloody shirt

Of all the people here, Ana is probably the best suited for leadership (just about). But my problem is, how does anyone know that? With Jack it made sense - he’s a doctor, everyone was going to him over the first few days. But Ana hasn’t does anything besides save two people’s lives - important, to be sure, but only Eko and Goodwin saw her do that

Cindy, you waited until Day 2 to tell anyone that the plane was going in the wrong direction?

When we see the Tailies bury Donald (Who Libby says was the fourth to die) we see 8 graves. Being generous and assuming Eko burried the two dead Others somewhere else, that means that only four people died in the initial crash, and I’m sorry, but I’m calling bullshit on that

Also if you do the maths (assuming Libby includes Goodwin when she said that 23 survived), that means Donald is the last one who dies of his injuries. No doctor on sight, and only 4 people die after a plane crash?

The show is trying to imply that Goodwin fancies Ana Lucia, which is odd, given that he was in a relationship with Juliet twelve days ago

Nathan, did you forget that your people were being kidnapped?

So, did they not start a lookouts system after the first three were kidnapped? Everyone is asleep!

Actually, it could have been Goodwin who was supposed to be lookout, but surely if that was the case someone would have brought that up?

So when Ethan drags Claire and Charlie off into the jungle, there’s an obvious trail to follow, but when loads of Others carry off nine Tailies, there’s no trail?

Nathan took 2 hours going to the bathroom?

So Cindy says that she’s good at remembering the faces of the passengers on planes, but it doesn’t occur to her once that Goodwin wasn’t there?

For someone who isn’t guilty, Nathan really seems to be trying to incriminate himself

That look Ana gives Goodwin when he asks if she has kids - oof 🥺

Jeez, Goodwin, stop staring at Ana as she sleeps!

Why, when Ben chose who infiltrates the Losties, did he choose the two creepiest people there?

Why, when whenever the DHARMA people abandoned the Arrow station, they took basically everything except, a working radio, a bible, and a glass eye?

Goodwin says that one the first night the Others took the strongest of the Tailies, so... why didn’t they take Ana? I mean, she did manage to kill an Other with one strike with a rock later. And have you seen those arms?

Also, why bother taking the strongest, if your tactic was always stealth?

Goodwin says that the people who weren’t on the list ‘weren’t good people’. Okay, Nathan I get, Ana is debatable, and we don’t know enough about Cindy to make judgements. But Eko, Bernard and Libby are all clearly good people, so why weren’t they on the list?

So did nothing really happen from Day 27 ‘till Day 41? Stuff was going down every other day for the Losties, and they had it pretty alright compared to the Tailies

Ugghh, even hearing Boone’s voice makes me annoyed

Seeing Ana completely break down next to Eko is heartbreaking. Ana Lucia is such an amazing character (but I’ll get to that next episode)

You can just tell that Jin said something sassy to Eko

I didn’t mention this last episode, but in the whispers you can hear Boone say ‘Shannon’ and ‘dying sucks’, which really implies that he wanted Shannon to die, or at the very least did nothing to stop it. You know, if you wanted another reason to hate Boone

Overall Review:

I mean, I know we had to find out what happened to the Tailies at some point, and choosing to put this between Shannon’s death and the reaction was... a bold choice, I’ll give them that. But come on.

That being said, it is a pretty good episode. It explains why they’re all so suspicious, and we get some insight into the Tailies’ characters. But did it ave to be here?

Im calling this the faberry files cos I feel like a spy when I'm really just very gay

This is just basically timestamps of every faberry moment I could find as I was rewatching season 1-3. I don't know if anyone wants to see it but I just put it here cos why not. I wasn't really planning on posting it but here we are so it features my gay ass commentary. Anyway there u go.

-1x20-43:06 I can’t really see where she’s looking under those long ass lashes but I think when Rachel does that little giggle she stares at her while smiling, might just be Faberry goggles tho

-3x08- 41:10 the look of joy on Quinns face when Rachel touches her shoulder is just pure gay energy

NineWheels Rewatches Lost 2x07 “The Other 48 Days”

I appreciate how much worse the Tailies had it than our original gang. It’s both an interesting motivating factor for them as characters (especially Ana Lucia), and it makes this episode more interesting than just a condensed version of season one featuring different faces.

I’m not blogging to catalog firsts, but there are quite a few in this episode. It’s the first episode to not feature Jack, Kate, or Hurley--who up until this point were the only characters to have appeared in every single episode. It’s also the first episode to take place entirely in flashbacks, and the first where those flashbacks, and therefore the entire episode, is set on the island.

November 18: Thoughts on The 100 2x07

Okay, gonna try this again with another ep. Long Into the Abyss

The last time I was watching T100 I was back at the beginning of S2 so I could remind myself of some stuff for a fic so now I’m really out of sorts.

I remember watching this ep for the first time and thinking, ‘oh, I guess Keenan isn’t going to be important, then.’ The fucked-up-ness levels of this scene are supremely underrated. Much like how they experiment on Maya--they know no shame. Also I feel like the implication is that Keenan isn’t the first person they’ve killed in this way. Does no one.... miss them? Why was there no revolt from the populace on the grounds of ‘they’re experimenting on us’ if not on the grounds of ‘they’re experimenting on these random kids’?

That Keenan was felled by rain makes me think that the rain was....dun dun dun, acid the whole time.

“Civilian check-in will take place at 0900 hours. All civilians must be accounted for by your station supervisors.” I mean first there are only two stations lol but otherwise... collecting more data for the Ark AU.

“This is not our home, it’s theirs” is SUCH a retcon and I’m still angry about it.

It makes absolutely no sense that Abby is still in charge even though the duly elected Chancellor is back in the settlement. I mean I know they’re just making shit up now but they’re not even trying.

Jaha’s faith would be more compelling if it didn’t mean randomly abandoning big chunks of his people--not just Marcus and the 48 but every other station that may or may not be out there. I guess he still sees them as a whole not as individuals or even as sub-parts. (I’d say he’s being selfish but in fact he will sacrifice himself too.)

This would have been a good time to lean even more into the 100 as a distinct people all their own. Clarke (and co.) care about the 48 than anything else. But no one else does, really; they were already thrown away.

That was the worst speech Chancellor 1 and Chancellor 2 could have given because now it’s super obvious they are not on the same page.

“The Grounders are attacking because of me” is 100% true and you should say it. People in this fandom love to hate on fuckboy Finn but the actual main characters stuck behind him right up until the bitter end lol, let’s not forget that.

Also yes Clarke’s line is stupid (”The Grounders are attacking because that’s what they do”) but.... she’s not entirely wrong that the Grounders have historically targeted them for almost no reason, over and over, since day one. So yeah they’d probably be attacking anyway. Not five minutes ago Jaha was saying they were just trying to get ‘invaders’ off their land so....yeah no one knows.

The Mount Weather delinquents! I love them. I love their group dynamic. I love the bizarre way Jasper is sitting, and how much faith he has in Clarke, and Monty being the voice of pessimistic reason. I do not love Monty’s hair. That is an unfortunate cut.

Like tbh now that I’ve looked at the whole season from afar, trying to make it make sense for fic writing purposes, I see that this whole ep’s story line probably mostly exists just to buy some time while actual progress is made outside the Mountain but... I still love it.

I’m not super crazy about the Finn and Lincoln comparisons given that Finn acted of his own free will and Lincoln was turned into a cannibal.

The only scenes that really matter are the MW ones as per usual.

“She was Anya’s second” as in that should matter because Clarke and Anya were such good friends....?

Jaha hates not being in power so bad. Like he’s this-close from saying ‘Abby stop playing and hand over the pin to a real adult.’ Like he truly thinks she’s just fucking around and he’s entitled to the final say because...habit I guess?

Another point to Finn: if they left they would NEVER come back for the MW kids lol. What an obvious lie. Does Jaha believe his own bs??

Also someone should have pointed out that the Grounders have literally never been good faith with them. Never. Like who says that if the Ark left the Alpha Station site that the Grounders wouldn’t pursue them and kill them anyway? The delinquents abandoned the dropship site and were followed and attacked. (Am I mis-remembering or was ‘leave or die’ the offer then too?) The Ark doesn’t know how much land “belongs” to Trikru (prob because none of it does lol). Like, Jaha’s confidence that Lexa wasn’t lying to him the whole time--like every other time she opens her mouth, because almost everything she says is in fact a lie--is wildly misplaced imho.

All of that said and I completely stand by it--he’s not wrong that he’s the real Chancellor and it is ridiculous that the actual elected Chancellor has to beg the rando who just happens to have the pin to do something. Like--he is right  on the procedure but wrong on the substance is what I’m saying.

And here another example of how only the person who controls the army has real power.

Remember when Abby and Clarke had a good relationship? And it was significant and moving? Anyway another answer to ‘why are you throwing everything away on this plan’ would be ‘because it’s not a shitty plan, you’re just not hearing it out,’ or alternately ‘because we need to deserve to live as I have already said back in the pilot and walking away from MW would be morally abhorrent.’

Honestly as soon as the stuff with the Grounders moves to the fore I just zone out. Maybe it’s because the tension is gone when you know what happens or maybe it’s because I never really believed ADC but...eh. She has a cool glove though.

They really do hammer home the idea that the MM aren’t really “alive.” Someone bring back that ‘they’re the souls in the underworld’ meta stat.

“This is our world. We deserve this.” Imo this is the hubris of the descendant of American Executive Branch survivors, the belief that, because they were chosen to live for their importance to the whole concept of America, that they now deserve not just survival but a return to that which they themselves destroyed. (I know in this universe it was some rogue AI blah blah blah--it’s more interesting if it was a nuclear war in the traditional sense in my opinion.) Dante has the other side of the argument: We are the keepers of history. The responsibility, over the entitlement. And he recognizes that this legacy is already stained, perhaps irrevocably. Is it ridiculous that he drew his line in the sand? Did he even make that decision, about the Grounders, or did his father make it? Does he think it’s okay because the Grounders are ‘savages’? Because the MM can survive without the bone marrow but not without the blood?

I’m going to be honest, I have no idea what the concept is here with saving Lincoln. Like is this real science about overdoses or just like shit made up as they went along? The only thing I got was the heart thing with the electric shock but like...unclear on the rest... is it just waiting out the detox, I guess?

I never shipped M/inty but that was a nice moment. Love those attempts to expand Miller’s character. Also completely forgot that what Miller found was the engineering schematics.

“It’s not complicated really. We just need to keep them alive long enough for the drug to leave their system.” Okay so I was basically right. Not sure how she came to that conclusion from the fight scene but w/e.

L just strikes me as like a young person pretending to be a leader rather than like an actual leader... I’m sorry. But that’s just my read.

Anyway here she is, bad faith as always--moving the goalposts again. “You can have your truce if I get one thing”--LADY YOU GOT YOUR ONE THING THE FUCKING REAPERS HELLO. You don’t get a second thing. I mean fuck really you’re already getting two things: the Reapers and an ally in taking down the Mountain. Now you want a third thing?? No. No more things.

“Maya?” as soon as your friend opened her eyes you rushed forward. You grabbed her hand and brushed it, while she sat up straight. The treatment had worked, Jasper’s blood had worked.

“Welcome back,” Doctor Tsing said to her.

“What happened?” she asked you, confused.

“containment breach in the dorm, you are damn lucky” You explained to her.

“No one’s ever been as sick as you and come back,” The doctor said.

“How do you feel?” you asked Maya.

“I feel… great. How is that possible?” You stepped aside and Jasper came in her view.

“Jasper saved you,” you said.

“Hey,” He said quietly. At that moment the president son came in, Cage.

“Can we speak outside, please?” He said to Tsing, and she walked outside. “You too (Y/N)”

“It was an emergency, we couldn’t reach you in time” Tsing explained, and you guessed she was talking about Maya.

“You expect us to believe that?” Cage said.

“Sir, I apologize for going around you, but it worked”

“How is the patient?”

“her recovery is miraculous-”

“I was referring to Jasper”

“He’ll recover, as I assured you he would”

“That’s not the point,” Cage said, “You disobeyed a direct order from the president not to experiment with those kids”

“Mister President, why bring them here if not to use them?”

“I’m sorry to interrupt you,” You said, “But what are we talking about? I had no idea you wanted to use them for their blood. And why the hell-”

“That’s none of your concern,” Cage said to you.

“Then why did you bring me here?”

“Shouldn’t you be with your monsters?” Doctor Tsing said.

“They’re not monsters, they’re soldiers”

 “Excuse me, what monsters-” you started, but The president interrupted you.

“Sorry (Y/N), maybe it was a mistake to bring you here. I thought doctor Tsing has told you more by now”

“I am telling her everything she needs to know,” She said.

“Well, that’s clearly not enough,” Cage said.

 “That’s enough, both of you. We all have jobs to do. Mine is to be obeyed. And yours is to teach (Y/N) everything about what we do here because she is important to our future” He said to doctor Tsing. And then he looked at you.

“Yes sir,” She said, “Follow me (Y/N)” You walked after her after the president gave you one last smile, but you couldn’t return one. Your head was spinning after the conversation, and full of questions.

“What was that al about?” You asked Tsing as soon as you were in the elevator.

“It was the thing I wanted to show you. I’ve done some research. If I’m right, the blood of the 47 will give us a chance to live on the ground-”

“So you want to use them for their blood?” you said with wide eyes. How could she be so ridiculous? Everyone welcomed them in their house, and now she wanted to use their blood? There was no way in hell you would agree to this.

“Yes. Think about it (Y/N), we could finally go to the ground” She smiled at the idea, but you didn’t.

“So you want to kill others to-” you couldn’t finish your sentence because the elevator door went open. Two men stepped in and the doctor gave you a look to stay quiet. You looked at the floor, for now, you would shut your mouth. But you would not give up your new friends.

When you and Tsing got out, she stopped and looked at you.

 “(Y/N), I need you to keep this to yourself. The president is still deciding-”

“Don’t worry,” you said to her. You knew deep inside that if you told your friends things wouldn’t end well. But if she made you choose between the ground and your friend's lives, she didn’t know you very well.

“It has been three days and Maya’s numbers are still climbing. It’s too soon to be sure, but… I believe she may actually be metabolizing radiation on her own now” It had been three days. Three days you had to keep your mouth shut, and the word hard was an understanding. The idea of your friends hung upside down didn’t leave your mind, and you couldn’t believe doctor Tsing. You had always seen her as a nice person, but now you knew that deep inside she wasn’t. She was willing to let others die to help herself.

The president turned his chair around and looked at her.

“Jasper’s blood was eight times more effective than any outsider we’ve ever measured” she continued.

“You’re saying that it’s a permanent solution?” Cage said, he probably couldn’t believe what he just heard.

“She’s saying it’s possible. But she can not be sure” You explained, you wanted to do everything to make the president say no.

“In the meantime, sir, you have to let me move forward with the 47,” She said, and this left you dumbstruck. You looked at her with wide eyes. Then your eyes found the president, waiting for his words. It felt like forever, but finally, a word left his mouth.

“No” You sighed. Maybe there was someone not totally crazy in this room besides yourself.

‘Dad, I agree with her” Cage said, and you glared at him. “I know that the plan was to assimilate them into the gene pool, but this changes everything,”

“She just said, it’s not proven,” The president said.

“Mr. President, even if it’s not a permanent solution… with their blood, we’ll need fewer treatments. we’ll live longer and we’ll feel better”

“Jasper volunteered. I will not put those kids in cages like animals” Thank God for the president.

“No one wants that. If you can convince the rest of them to volunteer, great! But what if you can’t?” Cage said.

“I’m sure (Y/N) can do that for us,” Tsing said, and you glared at her.

“I won’t push them into something that can cost them their lives”

“You won’t have to. Just, have a nice conversation” Cage said to you, and he held your shoulder. “You can do this (Y/N)” he said. You shrugged off his shoulder and looked at the president walking away.

“Come (Y/N), let’s go,” he said, and you followed him.

You and the president walked into Jasper, the person you were trying to find. He was holding a box full of ‘thank you’ cards and presents.  

“Jasper,” The president said, walking up to him, “We’d hoped we would catch you before you were discharged” Jasper looked at you and you send him a little smile. You still didn’t like this.

“I see I’m not the only one impressed by your courage,” he said, pointing at the box.

“I just did what anyone would do,” Jasper said.

“You are a hero Jasper,” You said to him, and a smile appeared on his face.

“I’d like to believe that’s true, Jasper. After what happened to Maya, I’m sure it woný come as a surprise to you to learn that we’re not entirely safe here. Mount Weather wasn’t build to last this long. Over time, trace amounts of radiation seep inside. The breach in the dorm is an extreme example. We have methods for dealing with this, but those methods pale compared to what we saw with you and Maya.”

“Sir, I don’t think I could to that for everyone”

“of course not. But if you could inspire your friends to follow your example, imagine the difference you could make here,” You saw that Jasper was thinking about it, and you shook your head slightly.

“(Y/N)!” you heard your best friend call, so you turned around. Maya walked toward you holding a notebook.

“Hey, what’s up?” you asked her, but then you saw that something was wrong.

“I found out something, we have to tell the others,” she said, and she walked out of the room. You followed her and stepped into the elevator, while she pressed the button to level five.

“They are watching them everywhere, so you have to act like everything is okay”

“What are you even talking about, what’s wrong?” Maya looked into the camera and turned around. You stood beside her, and she opened the notebook out of the camera’s sight. There stood: “the breach wasn’t an accident”. Off course it wasn’t, you knew that it wasn’t right. Tsing had it planned out the whole time, and you didn’t see it. You shook your head and turned around again, while the elevator door opened.

“Hey, guys!” Maya said cheerfully. She held up her notebook and Monty and Jasper read it. When she walked away you waited until they followed her, and they did.

 Maya led you to a basement, where you could talk freely.

“We don’t have much time,” she said.

“What the hell is going on?” Jasper said. Maya pressed her lips together and tears formed in her eyes. You put your arm around her and you heard Jasper say her name. She apologized.

“Maya? What do you mean it wasn’t an accident?” he said.

“she means that they exposed her to radiation on purpose. It was to get you to agree to be her blood brother” Monty said, and Maya nodded.

“He’s right,” you said, “This is why Clarke escaped”

“Did you know about this?” Jasper asked you and you shook your head.

“Why would they do that to you?” Jasper said to Maya.

“because the standard treatment sucks compared to you” You explained.

“What’s the standard treatment?” Monty asked, afraid of the answer.

“over there,” Maya said quietly, pointing around the corner. She walked to it and you followed her. The boys stepped forward to the window and looked inside. Terror crossed their face and you looked at the floor. You were ashamed of your people.

“Why are you showing us this?” Monty asked Maya.

“Because I’m afraid you’re next”

“Who else knows about this?”

“Everyone” you answered, “nobody talks about it”

“without the treatments, we’d die. What are we supposed to do?��� Maya said.

“Die,” Monty said, still looking through the window.

“You have to get out of here,” you said, looking at Jasper.

“Dante said we could leave, right?” Monty said, turning around.

“He was lying. He knew I’d be too scared to leave. Just like he knew I’d do what had to be done to save Maya” Jasper said.

“If Clarke got out, we can too,” Monty said.

“You’ll never make it. Ever since Clarke disappeared, security all around has been increased.”

 “We have to try!” Monty said, almost shouting.

“We're not leaving, I’m not leaving the others behind” Jasper concluded. “We volunteer”

“You’re all set Monty,” Tsing told the boy, who was lying on a hospital bed. “The general anesthetic will take effect shortly”

“You won’t feel a thing” you reassured him, sending him a smile. Tsing walked away, leaving you and Jasper with Monty.

“How high are you right now?” He asked Monty, and you laughed.

“I almost don’t care that there is a six-inch spike in my neck” He answered. Monty sighed and you smiled before checking on the others.

“When is this going to end?” Maya said to you, looking at Jasper. She was talking about the 47 volunteering with their blood, what they did recently.

“I don’t know… They think they are buying themselves some time so that Clarke can save them, but I don’t know if they are”

“What do you mean? Did Tsing say something to you?”

“She is almost -obsessed- with their blood. For now, things are okay, but when they stop volunteering, or they become too weak to give more blood… I’m sure she will find out something worse than this”

“But for now the president is on our side, right?”

“Yeah, but Cage doesn’t listen to him”

“What can we do?” May asked, looking at you desperately. You wish you could answer, but you didn’t know.

“(Y/N) we need your opinion again,” Tsing said to you when she contacted you. You really didn’t wanna go, but there was no way ignoring her. You knew you were important, and she needed you for everything. But deep down, you didn’t want to imagine what you were going to see when you stepped in the room.

“I’ll be there in a minute”

“Welcome,” she said when you walked into the room. When your eyes focused on what was in front of you, you almost fell. From this day, you officially hated doctor Tsing. In front of you laid Keenan, a girl you knew, dead. Her body was full of blisters, and you couldn’t believe your eyes.

“Why did you bring her here?” Cage asked the doctor after he saw your reaction.

“She has to see why the blood of her friends is so important,” she said, looking at you. “Based on these results, treatments with the blood of the 47 will never be enough to get us to the surface,”

“Why are you saying that like it’s good news?” Cage asked.

“Because it’s made me start over,” you knew she would not give up. “If treatments with their blood give us temporary immunity, how do we extend that immunity forever?”

“Bone marrow,” you said without any emotion, still looking at the body. You missed the smirk that formed on Tsing’s face when you said that.

“What would happen to the donors?” Cage asked, and you looked at him.

“There’s 382 of us. That’s roughly eight procedures for each of the kids,”

“You didn’t answer my question”

“They all die,” you said. You turned around, opened the door, and walked out of the room.

“STOP IT! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” you yelled when you walked into doctor Tsing drilling into Harper’s body. It was horrible, the girl screamed and she kept drilling. You wanted to stop her, but you couldn’t do anything. You needed to warn the others. They had to get out of here.

In the corner of the room, you saw Cage, just standing there.

“Why are you letting her do this? What is wrong with you?” you said, walking up to him. He grabbed your shoulders and held you down.

“Listen to me, (Y/N). I told you earlier that you are a great use for everyone, don’t ruin that by stopping this. This is our future,”

“This is your future” You snapped, and shrugged his hands of you. You walked out the room and slammed the door shut behind you. It was time to see if the president really was on your side.

“I have to talk to the president,” you said to the guard in front of his office. He nodded and opened the door for you, and you nodded thanks.

“President Wallace?” You said, and the president turned around.

“Hello, (Y/N)”

“I have to tell you something important”

“Wallace?” you heard a familiar voice say behind you, and you turned around. It was Jasper, with a desperate look on his face.

“Can we talk?” he said to the president.

“I see you both need something from me,” the president said, and he walked up to you. You nodded to Jasper, letting him talk first.

“My friends. Two of them are missing” Jasper said. You took a deep breath, looks like you came here for the same thing.

“Tell me where they are,” Jasper said, tears forming in his eyes.

“Jasper, I don’t know what you’r-”

“Stop lying,”

“Excuse me?”

“You lied about there not being survivors from the Ark. You lied about Maya’s accident. I don’t even know how many lies you told about Clarke”

“Please, sit down-”

“No!” Jasper yelled, and you backed up. within seconds, Jasper grabbed a sword and held it against Wallace’s neck. You held your breath.

“You’re gonna tell me the truth,” He said with big eyes.

“No,” you said, making him look at you. “I am”

You slowly reached for Jasper’s hand and reached for the sword.

“What are you talking about, (Y/N)?” The president asked you.

“I’m afraid your son and doctor Tsing have been doing some stuff behind your back. Some stuff I don’t agree with” The president walked to his desk and pressed a button, what made the guard come in.

“Yes, sir?”

“Could you please find out where Dr. Tsing and my son are at the moment?” The guard nodded and walked away.

“Let’s go find your friends,” he said to Jasper, and then he looked at you. You knew that you couldn’t go with them because then doctor Tsing knew it was you who told him about the bone marrow.

“I can’t come with you,” You said to Jasper, and he nodded. You stood with them in the elevator but got out on level five.

“Thank you for telling us this, (Y/N)” The president said before the door closed. You nodded at him.

You paced up and down the room, afraid that Tsing and Case would found out that you told the President and Jasper about their experiments. There were only 2 patients in medical, and they both were asleep.

You looked at one of them, a woman you had seen a few times. You walked up to her and looked at her state, which was surprising. At that moment, a guard walked in.

“Seargent Lovejoy, can I help you?” you asked.

“Where’s Thorpe? I need to go over the treatment schedule so I know how many cages to clear” He responded.

“He’s not here, I think he just left”

“Thanks, I’ll try to catch him” He walked away, but turned around again when the machine next to you made a sound. The sound meant that the patient’s treatment was done, but she was done too soon. Grounder blood wasn’t this effective. It had to be someone from the Ark if Jasper was right about saying there were survivors.

Lovejoy looked at her files, and his eyes grew.

“She’s done an hour early,” he said, “Twenty-five-minute treatment, that’s gotta be a record” You needed to figure out to who the blood belonged to.

“You really need Thorpe now, huh? He said something about going to the mass hall”

“Thanks,” He said, handing you the papers. You smiled and waited for him to leave the room. When the doors closed, your eyes followed the blood pipes. It led to the room where you found Clarke, where Mount Weather gets their blood. You scanned your card and sighed before stepping into the room.

By comparison, season 1 had the overall ratings of 7.54/10. (Season rankins and ratings are in this post.) Not a surprise - I liked season 1, but season 2 was a massive improvement and possibly the best season of the show... or at least one of the two, so far - it will be interesting to see if I’ll end up ranking season 2 or season 4 higher.

But before that... something much worse: I’ve already started the season 3 (sigh) rewatch and I’m up to 3x03. Those write-ups will have to be much shorter, just bullet points, because of my lack of time and tons of real work and deadlines. I don’t think I’d have energy to analyze in details and rant about season 3 episodes anyway.

Notes about the timeline and body count in seasons 1 and 2 under the cut.

Timeline: While The 100 wiki says that it has been 52 days since the 100 landed on Earth (I have no idea where they got that, there is no source provided), by my count, and I’ve paid attention closely, it couldn’t be more than about 40 days since the Pilot, at most. Season 1 lasted just a little over 3 weeks, and season 2 couldn’t have been more than about 2 weeks.

Body count: This is going to be long...

Eight more Delinquents died in season 2 (46 died in season 1). 54 Delinquents survived into season 2 (48 of them were in Mount Weather, but Clarke escaped), and out of that number, 3 were killed outside Mount Weather: anonymous Delinquent was killed by Tristan in 2x01; Sterling died falling off a cliff while trying to save his friend Mel in 2x04; Finn Collins was about to be brutally executed for his crimes on Lexa's orders and was mercy killed by Clarke in 2x08. Inside Mount Weather, while all 47 seemed in danger of certain death throughout the season, 42 survived while 5 Delinquents were murdered for bone marrow (among them Fox). As of the season 2 finale, there are 46 surviving Delinquents (including Clarke, Octavia, Jasper, Monty, John Murphy, Nate Miller, Harper, Monroe, Bree - who we haven't seen in a while), plus Bellamy and Raven.

An unknown number of people from the Ark made it to Earth in the season 1 finale. By my count, the number of people on the Ark at the beginning of the show was 2659, before 101 people landed on the dropship and Raven went to Earth, leaving 2557 people. 320 people died in the culling, leaving 2237 (the number mentioned in the show). Other deaths in season 1 included Shumway, more than 6 people (probably around 10 to 15) in an explosion of the bomb planted by Diana's people. Diana and an unknown number of her supporters and others who just wanted to get to Earth (probably several hundred people) died in the crash of the Exodus ship (caused by Mount Weather), and an unknown but large number died in the shutdown of the Ark caused when she took the Exodus ship, leaving about 1,000 survivors (according to Kane's assessment). Some of the stations landed well, but others did not - everyone in the Factory Station died, except for Mel. Also, while this is only revealed in season 3, the Farm Station landed safely but was immediately attacked by the Ice Nation, who killed about 120-130 people, including 15 children and Monty's father.The status of some of the other stations is unknown. In season 2, two Arkers were crucified by Trikru as a warning in 2x02. Father of one of the Delinquents in MW was accidentally shot by a guard in Camp Jaha while trying to wrestle his gun from him. At least 1 Arker guard was killed by the acid fog and 2 by Reapers.  Major Byrne was killed by the mutant gorilla. Some Arkers probably died in the bombing of Tondc, but we don't know how many of them were there.  Several Arkers were killed fighting the MW guards who captured Kane, Abby, David Miller and Monroe. At least 4 people in Jaha's party died - two in the land mine explosion, 2 were killed by the sea creature (one of them, Craig, was murdered by Jaha, who pushed him into the water to be eaten).

All of the Mountain Men, except one - Carl Emerson - died in season 2: at least 381 people. One was shot by a person in Camp Jaha, one died trying to assassinate Clarke; Dr. Tsing and at least 35 Mount Weather guards were killed by Bellamy and/or the captive Delinquents in fighting inside Mount Weather, plus 2 guards were killed by Octavia in the finale; the sniper who caused the mass murder in Tondc was killed by Clarke; one MW resident - Keenan - was killed by Tsing and Cage who used her as a guinea pig and then let her die so she wouldn't talk; some guards were killed fighting the Grounder/Arker army at the dam and the ridge in 2x15; several Mount Weather rebels - including Vincent Vie and Mr and Ms Peters - were murdered by the Mount Weather guards for being "traitors", Dante Wallace was shot by Clarke, Cage was killed by Lincoln, and about 300 other people, including Maya Vie, died when Clarke, Bellamy and Monty irradiated Level 5 to save their people.

It's impossible to know how many Grounders live on the territory of North America, so I don't know how many of them are left. But as for how many died:In season 1 (1x13), about 300 warriors died in the ring of fire or in battle with the Delinquents, as did a number of Reapers - killed by Finn or Lincoln or the Grounders in battle or in the fire. Previously, several Grounders were killed on the bridge when Jasper activated Raven's bomb, and another one was killed by Clarke before she escaped.

Season 2: Tristan (shot by Kane to save Finn and Bellamy) and another Grounder (shot by Raven) died in 2x01. Anya was shot and killed by Major Byrne in 2x04.  An unknown number of Grounders died in Mount Weather from being drained, plus at least one (probably more) during the "trial" fights between Reapers-in-making. 19 Grounders (mostly civilians in the village, and one prisoner) were murdered by Finn Collins. Gustus was executed by Lexa for treason in 2x09. Quint and one of Lexa's guards were killed by the mutant gorilla. One died of wounds he sustained while stopping the MW assassination attempt on Clarke. About 250 people died when Mountain Men bombed Tondc on Cage's orders, and Lexa and Clarke didn't want people, and more died when the sniper was killing the survivors. Most of them were Grounders, some were Arkers.

Some of the Reapers were killed by Grounders and Octavia in a fight, and others by Bellamy and Octavia when they were rescuing Lincoln. But we have no idea what happened with the surviving Reapers after the season 2 finale. I'm still annoyed at the way that storyline was dropped.

So, all in all, in about a month and a half or less, the show has managed to kill around 3,000 people.

I have no idea how many people were still alive on Earth at that time - especially since we have no idea about how many there were in other parts of the world. But the season 4 and season 5 finale will be very clear in that regard.

"LOST": The Death of Nathan

"LOST": The Death of Nathan (2.07) ”The Other 48 Hours” is the 31st episode of ”LOST” that aired on November 16, 2005. This episode featured the Tail Section passengers of Oceanic Air Flight 815 and the story of their first forty-eight (48) days on the island. A controversy popped out from nowhere in this episode and it featured a fellow survivor named Nathan, whose death led to a barrage of criticism aimed at another character – Ana-Lucia Cortez, portrayed by Michelle Rodriguez.

 The previous episode, (2.06) ”Abandoned” ended with the kidnapping of one of the Tail Section survivors, stewardess Cindy Chandler (Kimberly Joseph) and Ana-Lucia’s accidental shooting of one of the regular Fuselage survivors, Shannon Rutherford (Maggie Grace). ”The Other 48 Days” unfolded the events experienced by the Tailies that led Ana-Lucia to pull the trigger in such haste. And one of those events included the death of a Canadian-born passenger named Nathan (Josh Randall) at the hands of the Others’ spy, Goodwin Stanhope (Brett Cullen), The ironic thing about Nathan’s death is that when this episode had first aired, many of the series’ fans blamed Ana-Lucia for the Canadian’s fate. When Flight 815 of Oceanic Airlines had first crashed on September 22, 2004, the plane broke into several pieces. One of those pieces included the tail section, which landed in the water, somewhere opposite of the Fuselage passengers’ camp. Not long after the survivors swam ashore, some of them – Ana-Lucia Cortez, Mr. Eko (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Libby (Cynthia Watros) and Others spy Goodwin included – helped the others. But after Tail Sections passengers (aka the Tailies) settled down for the night, the Others snatched three adult males and Eko managed to kill two of them with a rock when they try to take him. It was Nathan who pointed out the disappearance of the three male survivors. Several injured survivors die in the passing days before the Others attacked again on the twelfth night and snatched nine more survivors – including two children named Emma and Zack. Ana-Lucia managed to kill one of the Others. The remaining survivors – Ana-Lucia, Mr. Eko, Libby, Cindy, Nathan and Bernard Nadler (Sam Anderson) – and Goodwin head into the jungle to evade the Others. During their trek into the jungle, Nathan peevishly insisted that they break for rest and water. Although against the idea, Ana-Lucia obliged due to the arguments from the other survivors. She eventually dug a pit – on her own – and converted it into a cage. For Nathan. Apparently, Ana-Lucia had developed a suspicion toward the Canadian-born survivor since the Others’ second attack. Along with Cindy, he wanted to stay on the beach, following the Others’ first attack on Day One. Nathan also lengthy trips into the jungle, supposedly to take a bathroom break. He also seemed rebellious toward Ana-Lucia. Nathan spent four days in the pit without food, despite protests from Bernard and Goodwin. He also had to endure unrelenting questioning by Ana-Lucia. When she indicated her intention to torture him, Goodwin helped Nathan out of the pit. Then he killed the Canadian by snapping the latter’s neck. Ever since Nathan’s death, many fans – but not all – have dumped most of the blame on Ana-Lucia’s shoulders. In the recap for”The Other 48 Days”, someone named Daniel had this to say: ”She kneels by a stream, and starts to break down. Who says Michelle Rodriguez can't act? She stops herself when she sees Eko standing there watching her. She barks at him, for no one must see her cry. He tells her that everything's going to be okay, and he crouches beside her. "What, you're talking now?" he says. "It's been forty days," he says simply. "You waited forty days to talk?" she says. "You waited forty days to cry," he says, and that totally sets her off, and she collapses, sobbing in his arms. I'm going to hope that the tears aren't strictly of the "even a girlfighter needs to let it out once in a while" variety, and that some of these tears are being shed for Nathan, whose death Ana-Lucia bears some of the responsibility for, whether you like her or not." He was right to claim that Ana-Lucia bore some of the responsibility for Nathan’s death. I only wished he had included the others who were also responsible in the above passage. Even one of the series’ screenwriters got into the act. Both Elizabeth Sarnoff and Christina M. Kim, who wrote (2.16) ”The Whole Truth” had Ana-Lucia assume all of the blame for what happened to Nathan: GALE: I don't mean to be ungrateful, but why are you going to help me get out of here? ANA: On the other side of the Island there was this guy with us. I was 100 percent convinced that he wasn't on the plane. So I dug a whole and I threw him in it. GALE: And what happened? ANA: I was wrong. And now he's dead. But good news for you Henry -- I don't make the same mistake twice. So how about you tell me your story? Well, it is all peachy keen that Ana-Lucia was able to accept responsibility for Nathan’s death. But it would have been sweeter for me if the other Tailies had accepted responsibility on screen, as well. Yes, I am saying that the other Tailies – along with Goodwin – were responsible. Let us exam how each individual in that group was responsible:

*Nathan – You read it right. I believe that Nathan was partially responsible for his own death. I realize that he had spoken the truth that intestinal problems led him to disappear from the Tailies’ camp every few hours. But Nathan had been the one who first noticed that the Others had kidnapped three survivors on that first night. He should have realized that disappearing into the jungle by himself for several hours – for whatever the reason – was a stupid move. The Others’ attack on the first night would have convinced me to overcome any embarrassment and insist upon company so that I could groan and fart for two hours with some semblance of safety. And there was the problem of Nathan’s personality. Not only did he have an ornery personality that irritated Ana-Lucia and the other Tailies, he also had a secretive nature that aroused many suspicions among his companions.

*Ana-Lucia Cortez – As I had stated earlier, Ana-Lucia was partially responsible for Nathan’s death. She was the one who had dug the pit. She was the one who dumped Nathan into the pit, starved him and questioned him constantly. She also threatened to torture him. And although Nathan’s behavior failed to help his cause, I suspect that Ana-Lucia’s own dislike of him allowed her to easily believe that he was a spy for the Others.

*Bernard Nadler – Although Bernard had protested against Nathan being dumped and kept in that pit, he did nothing to help the latter escape. Despite knowing that Ana-Lucia was attempting to starve Nathan into confessing.

*Libby – Like Ana-Lucia, she disliked Nathan’s behavior. And she had expressed her distrust of Nathan before Ana-Lucia had finished digging the pit: LIBBY [entering]: Hey. ANA: Hey. LIBBY: Back at the beach -- the night they came back -- you said that Nathan was gone for 2 hours? That he was missing? Creeps me out, Ana. Do you really think it's possible that one of us is one of them? Later, she responded to Goodwin’s protest: GOODWIN: You're not all serious. LIBBY: He never talks about himself, Nathan. Every time I ask him anything, he just dodges. You know what really irritated me about Libby in the end? She dumped all of the blame for Nathan’s death on Ana-Lucia in (2.08) ”Collision”: ANA [to Libby]: What about you? LIBBY: I just don't think you're the best judge of character. I was with you when you put Nathan in the pit. That is correct. Not only was she there when Ana-Lucia dumped Nathan’s ass into that pit, she was one of those who had supported the act. Her hypocrisy toward Ana-Lucia really annoyed me.

* Cindy Chandler – Like Libby, Cindy expressed distrust of Nathan. She also claimed that she had never seen him on board Flight 815 before the crash – despite her gift for knowing faces: ANA: We were in the air for 2 hours -- I didn't see him once -- not once. GOODWIN: It's a big plane, Ana, just because you didn't... CINDY: No, I didn't see him either. I'm pretty good with faces, you know, with the passengers, and I did not see him. I believe that Cindy may have overestimated her talent for faces. Apparently, she had failed to spot Nathan before spent time in one of the plane’s restrooms, dealing with his “problem”. And she failed to realize that Goodwin had never been a passenger aboard Flight 815.

*Mr. Eko – He was kind enough to feed a banana to Nathan, while the latter was being deliberately starved by Ana-Lucia. And yet . . . he did not bother to free Nathan from the pit. One could argue that Mr. Eko had feared incurring Ana-Lucia’s wrath. But we all know that he was the last person on that island who could ever be intimidated by her. Like most of his companions, Mr. Eko probably harbored suspicions about Nathan.

*Goodwin Stanhope - Naturally, he is the main person to blame for Nathan’s death. After all, he snapped the other man’s neck. Goodwin had helped Nathan escape from the pit. He realized that if Ana-Lucia had tortured the other man, she would have realized that Nathan had been speaking the truth. As a spy for the Others, he could not afford for her to continue any suspicions. But . . . there had been no need for Goodwin to commit murder. He could have simply allowed Nathan to maintain his distance from the other Tailies. But he chose murder instead. From the above statements, it is easy to see that I have managed to place the blame for Nathan’s death on just about every member of the group that had left the beach, following the Others’ second attack. Yet, because Ana-Lucia happened to be so unpopular with many fans of "LOST", she has received most of the blame. I hope this will finally set the record straight.
