ICONIC PLACES
For this assignment, I chose to use my digital camera to document a really fun day at the fair with some of my friends and my closest friend. I wanted to make it sort of like a lost footage video and give it a very early 2000s feel. I even added a song from one of my favorite artist PinkPantheress, who is known for doing very old-school PC music which is very reminiscing of the Y2K aesthetic. I also like that with the lyrics of the song and the food that you can kinda get a sense of like maybe this is a video from like when someone used to be alive and then they will never see them so it’s like a yearning video kinda of reminiscing, the good memories of someone who passed away.

My idea for the third project was to use my backyard as the iconic place since im close with it as i spend alot of time outside in it watching my dog. I made my dog the center piece of the video by making sure i got a camera shot of her in the beginning and end of the video while the rest of the video is me exploring and showed off the rest of my backyard and what it looked like.

Iconic Places:
The iconic place I decided to choose for my project is a park by my house called KSP. I actually learned how to play soccer there with my dad and we used to eat empanadas there which is super random, but the memory is so vivid every time I come here. Also, since the project was choosing a location that resonates with you, I chose this hidden soccer park by my house. It's not really hidden, but I feel like this was the place where I grew up and identifies with me as well as holding a personal connection to it. I also decided to choose this song to the video because it was a song that was playing on the radio the day I was with my dad and I remember it vividly as well.

Iconic Places
materials/medium: iphone camera, video editing software.
dimensions: my bedroom size
For this project, I knew that I wanted to do a perspective of my life in my iconic place, my bedroom. Mornings to myself are really important because I work full time most weeks and also am a full time student. I crave alone time. I am not an introvert but I try to be in my room as often as I can, because I get to take it slow and breathe. So, I thought it would be good to highlight this important place by showing details in my room that I love.

Iconic Places
My main theme in this project was to show the Miami Open. It is an event to which I go with my family once a year, so the whole day and place has become something special and time to be together. For this video I decided to use different transitions that showed several parts of my day and change but in a fun way. As it is an event of a lot of fun and movement, I wanted the video to reflect the same thing, being fast and with active music. I really liked the result and I feel that I was able to capture the atmosphere well.

Iconic Places
Medium: iPhone video
For my project, I wanted to capture the nostalgia and calmness of my Mosque and Elementary and Middle school. My elementary and middle school is attached to a mosque that I’ve been going to since I was little. In this month of Ramadan, my mosque holds “Taraweeh” prayer which is an Islamic prayer that happens in Ramadan during the night time. I filmed most of my shots during this time as I wanted to capture the serenity and focus on worship inside the mosque. I flip between scenes of loud noise and stillness to show how on one side the mosque is playful and inviting to all such, as the children, yet it is also a place of worship and silence. For my shots, I thought it was important to include the playgrounds and the children playing because it hints at my own childhood as I grew up playing in the same playground and mosque. One thing I noticed was the sounds of birds chirping in some shots and I think that added to the overall nostalgia that this place holds for me.

Iconic Places
I decided to choose the portion of the assignment that illustrates a location significant to myself, and for that I chose to go with my ride home. The idea of this piece was to capture the nostalgic scene that we all experienced as a kid, where we would fall asleep in a car after a long journey and end up back in houses. Usually as kids we pay less attention to the road, as we fall asleep to the music but there's a uniquely familiar sensation that we can all feel that allows us to become aware of just how far we are to our comfort, our homes.

ICONIC PLACES: FINAL DOCUMENTATION
CLUBHOUSE. Smartphone video camera. No dimensions available. My intent with this project was to capture a public space that is nostalgic to me. I chose the bathroom building I have seen in the golf course attached to my backyard every day for the past ten years. I chose to keep the audio natural to capture some of the auditory environment in addition to the visual one. I focused primarily on the small details of the house structure itself, with only a few shots filmed from my house to establish the scene and capture my usual point of view, as well as catch a glimpse of my father walking our dog, another familiar sight.

#2 Assignment: Iconic Places
In the context of my Valorant video presentation, I find myself at the intersection of personal ambition and familial expectations. As a dedicated player associated with a prominent gaming organization, the video showcases my ongoing journey towards professional gaming and the pursuit of financial recognition within this competitive landscape. However, this endeavor is not uniformly embraced within the familial sphere, where a nuanced discourse on the legitimacy of gaming as a career choice persists. Valorant transcends its virtual confines, transforming into a vital realm for communal connection and respite from quotidian pressures. This presentation encapsulates the intricate interplay of personal aspirations, familial considerations, and the unique sanctuary that gaming provides within the broader narrative of my life.

Iconic Places
For this assignment I decided to go to Kendal Indian Hammocks Park. I have a lot of fond memories of this park. This is where I first met some of my close friends. It is also the site of the first date with my girlfriend. The park is also beautiful, it has many trails as well as a playground. For the first video, I wanted to record the park and overlap the footage in order to make it look like a memory. While on trail for this park, I found a cat along the way and decided to make it the focus of the second video. Since this park has many cats and racoons around, it fit with its portrayal.

Assignment 2
Let the Sound Take Place.
This piece was inspired by the sacred healing spaces of women's circles gatherings. My purpose in creating this piece was to create a meditative experience through sound and visuals.
The visuals at the end were highly experimental. I will make this more a more subtle visualization of the meditative sound journey.

#2 Assignment: Iconic Places
Untitled
An iphone, ipad, and CapCut.
I created my video by first setting up two cameras at different angles of my room. I wanted one angle to capture my computer where I would begin the process of heading to bed and another angle showing my bed and how I prepared it. The idea was to show what the process is, after a long day, heading to bed looks like for me. I included my normal routine of getting off the game, blowing out my candles, putting on my bonnet, and clearing off my bed. I included soft music that I felt set the mood for sleepiness and bedtime.

Iconic places
When looking at iconic places, I decided to look at some thing that was more personal and introspective. I chose to do the home I currently live in which has been home to over seventeen of my family members. Although in the last five years, it has drastically change structurally there are still parts of it that remain integral and have survived 30 years of life. Although re-purposed my now studio workspace area was once my grandmothers kitchen, and before that my cousins bedroom, and longer before that, a separate apartment. Places like the front door of the house, which now lets in thick beams of light during the morning, were once rust brown wooden doors with emblems of a family that had just immigrated to the United States. I chose the song All Is Full of Love by Björk, because it speaks to the nature of this home. Everything within it has its own independent history and is filled with love. There are shots of my late grandmothers alter to her saints along side shots of the backyard were a large tree that my grandfather planted when he first came to this country once was. The video ends on the house number, as to encompass, the identity of the place.

Assignment 2: Iconic Places
Title: Memory-Watching Summer
Materials: Iphone camera and iMovie video editing software.
This piece is personal to me as this area is near to my house. That parking-lot to the left is where me and my friends used to constantly people watch after buying drinks in the store nearby. Most of the friends I used to do it with have moved on to different things, but that place is still there every time I go outside my house.
I wanted to give the video that same strange feeling of calm yet inevitability that comes when you are about to graduate high school, thats where the song (Missed Connections by Louie Zong) comes from. Additionally I wanted it to feel dream like, so the events appear as out of order, the left being the actual action of people watching while the right are the silly rituals and turns to get to the same spot, they both show different events with different moods, yet at the end they meet in the middle. Past and Future gently bumping into each other, creating the present.

Iconic Locations
For this assignment we were asked to go out into the world and make a one minute video of a place we feel is important to us in some way. We had to shoot an overview video and put it side by side with some close-up shots.
For my “iconic location” I chose a park that is nearby my house. It was a park that I used to visit very often with my family and I thought it would be nice to return and make a video of this place.
When in the editing process, I thought a lot about what song I wanted to choose and how to tie it into my overall theme. I wanted to go for a nostalgic vibe so I put filters that I feel like represented the nostalgic feeling I was thinking of.
