Final Artifact ♤
Our piece follows the theme "admist the crisis, the states celebrate as the moon covers the sun." To reflect this idea, we constructed a diorama, similar to those of what you'd find in elementary school science fairs, to demonstrate this phenomenon. We used sheets of cardboard for the solar system, foam balls, and clay to construct the human figures and part of the planetal bodies. The goal was to garner and disrupt people's attention similar to what the event does, as it dims part of the sun's light. We came dressed to a Home Depot as researchers for the purpose of maintaining its scientific aura and also finding a unique crowd of people.

For the final proposal we decided to combine the idea of the diorama with the projector and build a piece that displayed the phenomenon behind a solar eclipse. We would place lights within the sun to cast a shadow, from the moon, onto the earth. We included an image of people in distress, burning from the panic to stay more true to the statement we had come up with during the research process.

Proposal (3/3)
People battled and screamed in the commotion caused by a roaring fire on the left side as they tried to get away. Flames licked at structures, illuminating the terrified faces with a terrifying glow. However, the solar eclipse remained in the sky, a universal aberration calling for notice, despite all of this chaos. On the other hand, something else was happening on the right. Attracted by the eclipse's dreamy charm, people gathered, putting aside their disagreements and holding hands in amazement. Ignoring the chaos to the left, they took comfort in the bond that was created by the captivating beauty above.

Proposal (2/3)
For this idea, I thought of visually representing the sentence word for word. I wanted to display the eclipse in the background, with figures in the shape of states, likes the states of America, holding hands celebrating while watching the eclipse. I thought i could represent the crisis through the fire that’s surrounding the body of the states. For the way it’s displayed, i thought of painting it or even projecting it in a public area.

Proposal (1/3)
Since our generated statement centers around the crisis the eclipse creates, we decided to capture the idea of observing this natural phenomenon through the makeup of a solar system. Using the idea of a solar system display, we will demonstrate what occurs during the eclipse but with a twist. Half of the earth will be placed flat on the board and constructed in a manner that represents an eye. The idea is to reflect on how we see the eclipse as a whole and to somewhat communicate the panic that brings attention to it.

For the flag assignment, I wanted to create a flag that reflected my interests towards cute things. I decided to use the bow that represents a bunny character since she's typically surrounding by things I adore.

Iconic Places
I decided to choose the portion of the assignment that illustrates a location significant to myself, and for that I chose to go with my ride home. The idea of this piece was to capture the nostalgic scene that we all experienced as a kid, where we would fall asleep in a car after a long journey and end up back in houses. Usually as kids we pay less attention to the road, as we fall asleep to the music but there's a uniquely familiar sensation that we can all feel that allows us to become aware of just how far we are to our comfort, our homes.
