Hello! I’ve been looking for this one fic for absolute ages and I can’t find it, so I was hoping you might help me. I can only remember snippets? I remember it was on AO3, and I read it a few years ago at least so it’s not new! The detail I remember most vividly is that Draco wears really outlandish robes, even for wizards. The fic takes place after the war, and I think Draco goes through some old wardrobes in the man or and decides to wear old types of wizard robes, which are all really colourful and flamboyant and really very old fashioned. I remember he starts wearing them, and at some point Narcissa commissions ones for herself as well, maybe? I know it’s not a lot to go on, there’s plot and things as well, but what really stuck with me was the way the clothes were described and the part Draco’s fashion reflected his character. Harry liked it as well I think? They end up falling in love anyways!

An image captured by the Hubble Space Telescope depicts Arp-Madore 2339-661, an object that until not many years ago was considered a pair of interacting galaxies, cataloged as NGC 7733 (bottom right) and NGC 7734 (top left). However, observing the upper arm of NGC 7733, it's possible to see a sort of large knot of a color different from the predominant blue which is actually a dwarf galaxy, now cataloged as NGC 7733N. The consequence is that the interaction taking place is what some call a merging group. Mergers between two galaxies are normal but sometimes there are more galaxies and in this case, there are three of them that show signs of having active galactic nuclei.

I FOUND A THING

So I love making book covers for fanfic I read, largely so that my shelves on Calibre have some variation to them just at a glance. One of my favorite ways to implement specific art for a fic is by using it in a cover modeled after the Penguin Paperback Classics. However, I never wanted to have the "Penguin Classics" label and the Penguin logo, because...well, because it's not Penguin.

But I still want that look, so what I've done with mine is replace "Penguin Classics" with "Archive Classics" (as in Archive of Our Own), and replaced the Penguin logo with the AO3 logo (which you can download as a PNG or SVG on Wikimedia). All variants that use the Penguin orange somewhere in the design I've replaced with the color on the AO3 logo (HEX #990000, for anyone curious). I've spent many hours manually sizing fonts and graphics and such, comparing one thing to another and having varying amounts of satisfaction with my results from project to project. I'm anal like that, and if it's a millimeter off from where it needs to be, I notice it and it's always the first thing I see later, so I try to get it as exact as possible.

But now, in another one of my link-hopping search journeys, I found the exact dimensions needed! And I'm so excited I have to share it with anyone who might see this, so if you already know about it, hush—this isn't for you.

On Jim Stoddart's website (the art director at Penguin Books), there's a section that shows the design specifications for a bunch of styles that are used with their publishing. The one I want to draw your attention to is the Penguin Classics (the 2019 template redesign).

Not only is there the specifications for all three sides of the design, but also for alternative titling layouts for both the cover and the spine. There's even a basic grid layout without all the example text/graphics, so it's easy to build off of.

I've included the images mentioned below the cut, but if you're interested in more of this kind of thing, you should also check out the pages for the Penguin Modern Classics, Little Black Classics, Penguin 'AL' Paperbacks, Lines, and the Archive. I'm obsessed and amazed I haven't found these before.

Also, if anyone is interested in my version of the template, here's the PNG version of it, which you can place over the top of your chosen art/picture, before adding the title and author on top of that. For the measurements to be accurate, the dimensions of your final cover should come out to be 1524 × 2339 px, so adjust accordingly.

I hope this is of use to someone else too, and if not, I hope y'all can appreciate my excitement for this!
