📽 TobiView 📽 LOVE AND MONSTERS ☄️ Am 16. Oktober 2020 feierte LOVE AND MONSTERS in den USA seine Premiere. Netflix sicherte sich, dank einem Deal mit Paramount, die internationalen Vermarktungsrechte und so ist LOVE AND MONSTERS seit dem 14.04.2021 auf der Streamingplattform in Deutschland verfügbar. ❤️ "Zombieland" lässt grüßen nur ohne Zombies, dafür mit Monstern. Den Vergleich muss sich der Film gefallen lassen, da er in einer postapokalyptischen Welt spielt und als Abenteurer-Action-Komödie daherkommt. Besonders am Anfang sind Parallelen unverkennbar. Was LOVE AND MONSTERS aber fehlt ist der gnadenlos überdrehte und zündende Humor. Es wird eher auf situationsabhängige, komödiantische Versatzstücke gesetzt. 🪱 Ein weiterer Schwachpunkt ist ein Großteil der Charaktere, die leider absolut austauschbar und blass sind. Dylan O'Brien als "Joel" ist zwar sympathisch und macht seine Sache gut, aber ich kaufte ihm sowohl die nerdige "Schisserrolle", als auch die sehr schnelle Wandlung zum Überlebenskünstler mit top Armbrustskills nicht wirklich ab. Michael Rooker hingegen hätte ich gerne sehr viel länger gesehen. Star des Films ist in meinen Augen aber der Hund Boy und dessen Beziehung zu "Joel", die, wie ich finde, richtig schön ausgearbeitet wurde. Die heimlichen Highlights sind die zum Teil echt creepy gestalteten Monster, denen "Joel" über den Weg läuft. 🦀 Die allgegenwärtige tödliche Gefahr ist eben nicht allgegenwärtig, sondern wird episodenhaft abgehandelt. So trifft Joel auf seinem Weg erst auf Monster A, dann auf Monster B usw. - da wäre mehr drin gewesen. 🐌 Trotz der genannten Kritikpunkt fühlte ich mich gut unterhalten.
