the night is still young, and you sigh as you relax into the many furs adorning muriel's worn mattress, limbs aching after a busy day at the shop. 

asra saunters over to your relaxed form, smelling of herbs and spices and holding a steaming cup of tea, grinning when you open an eye to peek at his admittedly revealing silk lavender robe; it was a gift from nadia, handed over with a knowing glint in her eye. 

"like what you see?" he teases, soothing voice almost gliding over you like butter. he looks gorgeous with the crackling fire illuminating his already-ethereal features. you blink and he's seated on your left, his free hand guiding your pliant head to rest on his chest, before taking a sip of the tea and placing it on the nightstand. "rough day?" he coos, adjusting his tune as you nod and he reclines back, your head still resting on his bare chest; still listening to the steady beat of your hearts. 

just then, the door swings open as muriel hobbles in, shoulders sagging as he beelines it for the mattress, front door swinging shut behind him. the large frame of your shared lover looms over you and asra before he climbs into bed on your other side, relaxation visibly washing over him as he reaches a beefy arm around your waist and softly kisses the crook of your neck. now, it was your turn to ask; "long day, love?" returned only with a grunt from the man tracing his slightly chapped lips along the most sensitive spots of your throat. 

you shudder, and you feel muriel's lips turn up against your skin, beginning to leave open-mouthed kisses against your hot skin as you keen lightly into your loves' hold. asra strokes your hair softly, scratching and massaging your scalp and leaning down to whisper sweet praises in your ear as muriel's arm tightens, hand sliding down to grip your hip.  

asra coos, voice breathy in your ear, before capturing your shuddering lips in a deep kiss. when he pulls back, the hand tangled in your hair pauses and grips the locks as he gazes half-lidded into your eyes, even as you let out a soft moan at the stimulation. "do you want to keep going?" he asks, and even muriel pauses in his ministrations for your answer. 

you bob your head rapidly as his words finally breach your hazy mind. you're so tired and all you want tonight is for your two favorite people to help you relax. "use your words, baby," asra tries again, honeyed tone never faltering. 

"yes--" you rush out, squirming in your lovers' hold. "please." you add, desperation laced in your tone; a soft moan erupting as muriel bites down on the meaty part of your neck.

asra surges into you, slotting his pillowy lips to join with yours and smiling into the kiss. he only pulls away when you can't go a second more without a breath of air, slowly slipping off your uncomfortable garments with deft fingers. he focuses his attention on your now-bare front, trailing lips from your own, down your neck, and suckling on the soft flesh of your chest, while looking into your eyes the entire time. 

you shudder as muriel busies himself with marking your shoulders and back, grinding deeply into the mattress as he lets out near-audible groans of pleasure.

It had been 12 weeks since you’d delivered you and Carmy’s first baby, and your postpartum depression was in full effect. It really had not much to do with your baby, and everything to do with you. You felt gross after you delivered, you barely even wanted Carmy to look at you which he took like a stab in the heart. 

When you came home, it wasn’t really different. Even though showering was…very painful, and you could really use the help and would appreciate that help very much - you couldn’t accept it. The idea of your husband seeing your naked body that you considered to be mangled and gross brought tears to your eyes. The idea of him watching blood run down the drain as you carefully rinsed your mangled bits he used to devour nearly every night made you want to throw up. 

There was still a tiny part of you that believed he did this to you, so he shouldn’t be upset with the result - but somehow that just made you more angry because what if he was upset with how your body looked now, and just wasn’t saying anything? And how dare he not like your body after all you’ve done for him, for your family?! 

You were stood in front of the full length mirror in the bedroom after you showered, observing yourself. You could have sex how, if you wanted. But you had convinced yourself you’d never let Carmy see you naked again in fear he would shriek and cover his eyes and run away, a bit dramatic - but still you couldn’t face the idea of your husband not loving you anymore because he saw what left you have to give after 9 months of hell.

You touch your now jiggly, wrinkly belly, pulling the skin back with your hands and sighing a bit, remembering how you used to look. Tears welled in your eyes, “you’re so fucking vain” you whispered in the mirror. 

“Baby?” Carmy nudged the door open and you shout 

“JESUS CHRIST!!! IM CHANGING! Shut the door Carmen!” 

He jumps a bit at your sudden outburst, a frown coming to his features “why?” He asked and shut the door behind him. You quickly grabbed your shirt, sliding it over your head and pulling it out so it wouldn’t rest over your belly. 

“Cause- cause I deserve privacy?” You snap, angry that he wasn’t just running away like you’d expected him - or wanted him to. 

“Privacy? From…y’husband?” He comes over and rubs your arms gently “baby- are you gonna tell me wha’s up?” He asked. 

Your lip wobbled, more tears coming to your eyes. You shook your head quickly and looked at the floor, squeezing your eyes shut and hot, thick, shameful tears roll down your cheeks. “I’m ruined now” you said, your voice watery and defeated. 

“What?” He wiped your tears and hugged you, rubbing your back “baby what’s been goin on? You haven’t let me see you in months. I miss you, y’know that, right?” He kissed the top of your head as you sniffle in to his shirt

“I- I’m ugly now an-and wrinkly and covered in stretch marks and- and all…different down there. What if you stop loving me?” You burst into sobs. He could barely contain the lump growing in his own throat as he hushed you and rubbed soothing circles into your back. 

“Princess” he said his voice cracking a bit and he led you to the bed, sitting and pulling you into his lap “I could never stop loving you. I would have to be warm and dead to stop loving you. Y’hear me? You, and little dude, are the only things in this world that matter t’me…and maybe the restaurant…but-“ he said, just to bring a tiny smile to your lips 

“Mmm? See there’s that smile” he wipes your tears “what’s been bugging you baby, show me. I promise, I love every bit of you, I love you more every day- I still don’t know how that’s possible, but you make it work somehow” he teased and you blush, hiding your teary cheeks in the crook of his neck as he rubbed your back and side soothingly. 

“You say that but what if you see me and you can’t help it” you sniffled a bit. 

“Not possible honey” he countered. “Cmon- tell me. What’s been buggin you?” 

“My belly. And - and my thighs are so big now. My belly is all…ugh. Wrinkly and has all these red marks on it. And my bellybutton looks all weird” you whine 

“This belly?” He rubs his palm over it “the belly that kept our son all warm and happy n’safe till it was time f’him t’come home?” He asked and you huff 

“Yes but..it’s not…normal anymore” you said and he hums in agreement. 

“Y’right, it’s better, it’s new, it’s gonna take you some gettin’ used to- but I love it. Can I tell y’somethin and y’promise not t’be mad?” He asked and cuddled you into him more, kissing your cheek and hairline, wherever he could reach. 

“Mm” you hummed, sniffling softly 

“Your body now is the most beautiful it has ever been. Because it’s yours. It’s my wife’s body, my beautiful Mrs.Berzatto, it’s your belly, and your thighs, and your new different pussy you’re so afraid of” he said playfully in your ear to which you giggle a bit, cupping his cheek and looking at him with tear rimmed eyes.

He raised his brows in the ‘are you fucking with me’ Carmy way, “want me to show you?” He asked and you felt heat in your cheeks, looking down shyly. “Okay-“ he laid you back on the bed carefully, pushing up your shirt. “I think-“ he starts kissing from your ribs, over your sternum, down, down, over your belly, making it a point to kiss each little dimple and mark 

“I fed you and little boy sooo good while you were pregnant, so these? You can blame me. But I love them as selfish as it makes me” he kissed over your hips. “And these” he squeezed them with his hands “mmm fuck I looove these- I can’t wait to hold these while I’m fuckin’ you mm?” He traveled his hands up your waist, squeezing gently and continuing to ravish you in kisses. 

“And these” he gently squeezed your breasts together in your nursing bra “are fucking amazing. And a literal life source for our boy. An’he’s growin so well. He’s in the 95th percentile, he’s so healthy, and chunky. Y’doin amazing babe.” He cups your cheeks.

[2025.02.25] GOETHE April issue - Yuzuru Hanyu Special 30th Birthday Edition

Cover Story

The cover shoot took place at a studio in Sendai, Yuzuru Hanyu’s hometown. That day, he had multiple media shoots, with ours scheduled last. Despite how tired he must have been, Hanyu entered the studio with a deep bow, saying, “Thank you for waiting! I look forward to working with you!” His thoughtfulness instantly captured everyone’s hearts.

The shoot spanned 20 pages and lasted for quite some time. Yet what left the editorial team in awe was his unwavering focus and astonishing ability to adapt to the photographer’s requests. He effortlessly absorbed each instruction and transformed it into expressions that far exceeded our expectations. In one of the most memorable shots, Hanyu holds his own pair of skates—a reflection of his deep love and passion for figure skating.

At the end of the shoot, he once again bowed deeply and said, “Thank you very much! Thank you for your hard work!” before swiftly leaving the studio. The entire team couldn’t help but burst into spontaneous applause.

Interview: Challenging a New Self

On December 7, 2024, professional figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu turned 30. Even now, he continues to train with greater intensity than when he won his Olympic gold medals. We delve into the mindset, beliefs, and unwavering determination at the core of a man who constantly strives to evolve and surpass himself.

Special Interview Part 1: "I Decided to Stick to What I Believe Is Right"

The Current State of Yuzuru Hanyu at 30

For Yuzuru Hanyu, Japan’s national skating treasure, there’s no need for empty flattery. It has been about two and a half years since he announced his professional transition in July 2022. As the executive producer of his own ice shows, he has completed three major productions: GIFT at the Tokyo Dome, followed by RE_PRAY and ECHOES OF LIFE. These monumental achievements brought him a sense of fulfillment that could only come from overcoming such grand challenges. Reflecting on his journey, Hanyu speaks calmly:

"It was both tough and fulfilling. Being thrown into a world of freedom also brought its own kind of restrictions and made me realize my own limitations. It’s been a journey of searching, reaching out, and finally starting to understand many things by my third year as a professional. My connection to visuals, projections, and how the stories link to the programs has deepened significantly. It feels like all the efforts I’ve made beyond skating—branching out, absorbing inspiration—are finally starting to grow into a solid trunk."

Stepping into a space where Hanyu performs feels almost reverent. Through his ice stories, he tackles the profound theme of the meaning of life itself. His wholehearted performances pose philosophical questions to modern society:

"I’ve always wondered about the meaning of my own life since I was young. By the time I became aware of myself, I already had a name and was already ‘living.’ My earliest memory is realizing I could blink on my own. That night, I wondered: What if I fall asleep and wake up as a baby again? Life is so intangible—you can’t even prove your own existence. Because life is so fleeting, I hope my performances can inspire people to reflect on life and what it means to be alive."

The right thing to do is to leave it to each and every once-in-a-lifetime encounter.

Hanyu’s pride in his method of expression is clear. Rather than conforming to expectations, he listens to his inner voice and translates that honesty into his performances. One example he mentions is his 2023 show RE_PRAY, which drew on video game worlds to portray the destiny that lies beyond the choices we make in life.

"Honestly, if I were choosing music just for those who supported me during my competitive career, I think I should have stuck with classical pieces. But I deliberately chose game music because I decided to stick to what I believe is good. As a result, game fans and people who hadn’t been interested in figure skating started to watch my performances, expanding the audience. Every time I create something, I want it to be something I genuinely love, something that resonates with me. I’d be happy if fans of those original works see my respect for them while also enjoying my performance as Yuzuru Hanyu’s unique form of entertainment."

His most recent show, ECHOES OF LIFE, combined piano compositions with contemporary dance and hip-hop to convey the idea that what seems like coincidence might actually be destiny.

"I’ve recently realized that with the right skills and creativity, a lot can be done even on ice. This time, I worked hard to bring movements I learned off the ice onto it. I constantly think about what I want to express at its core and try to translate that through figure skating."

When asked about future performances, Hanyu candidly admits to the uncertainties and evolving passions in his journey:

"Over time, my creative ideas may dwindle. There aren’t many things in life you can dedicate yourself to with complete passion. For me, it’s been figure skating, games, manga, and anime. But who knows? Maybe turning 30 will lead me to discover new interests. I think trusting in those chance encounters is the right approach for now."

Being an Athlete Is My Foundation: The Profession of Yuzuru Hanyu

When breaking down what it means to be “Professional: Yuzuru Hanyu,” one thing becomes clear—he never cuts corners in creating captivating performances. His unwavering belief in figure skating as a sport underpins every intense and powerful routine.

"When I turned pro, I made it clear from the start: I am an athlete. Figure skating, while inherently an artistic sport, is a discipline in which the athletic aspect makes up about 80 percent. Without physical strength, you can't skate properly, and without technical skill, landing a quad is impossible. In Ice Story, doing two quads after skating for 30 minutes was nearly impossible. The most important thing for me as a pro is not to lean too heavily into the artistic side just because I’m no longer competing. I take great pride in the fact that what I have dedicated myself to is a sport. As an athlete, I strive for strength and the ability to inspire. I believe that my professional pride now lies in continuing to merge the inspiration drawn from the power of sports with the emotional impact of art."

When thinking of Yuzuru Hanyu during his competitive days, one imagines his hunger for victory and raw instincts on full display. While that aspect remains unchanged, what has evolved is his definition of "victory."

“Every time I create a program, I build it with the mindset that it’s impossible to complete. In a good way. Before, winning and becoming a champion was my main goal. Now, executing this program perfectly has become my challenge and my goal. If I can’t do it flawlessly, that’s my defeat. If I can, that’s my victory. Since an Ice Story performance doesn’t end in just one day, it motivates me to aim for perfection in every subsequent performance. It's like turning what I once thought was impossible into something possible within myself.”

How does he maintain such a consistently high level of motivation? The way he sets his goals reveals the essence of a truly exceptional athlete.

"Setting goals in life is very difficult. The closer the goal is, the easier it is to achieve, but the sense of accomplishment doesn't really generate a sense of self-efficacy. But if the goal is too far away, it feels unattainable, and every day just becomes a struggle. But for me, setting distant goals is more enjoyable in a sense, even if it means struggling along the way."

Searching Earnestly, Finding Value Within Himself

Despite his illustrious records, including two Olympic gold medals, behind those achievements lie countless failures and relentless trial and error. His fighting spirit, the ability to keep standing up after every setback, is rooted in witnessing the resilience of people rebuilding after the Great East Japan Earthquake��an event he experienced firsthand.

“Humans tend to remember negative experiences much more vividly, so forgetting failure is impossible. But every failure has a reason behind it. Maybe it’s because the goal-setting was wrong. But instead of giving up, I search for solutions—whether it's a lack of effort on my part, the wrong method of practicing, or even focusing on the wrong technical aspects. If I keep searching without giving up, I believe I can achieve it. It is really difficult to have the strength to believe. But like the people rebuilding from the Noto Earthquake or the Hibakusha who received the Nobel Peace Prize, I'm sure they are where they are today because they have continued to believe for so long. I experienced 3/11 firsthand, so I have a deep understanding of how powerful human belief can be. It sounds idealistic, but if you don’t give up, things will somehow work out. However, if you half-heartedly try without full commitment, nothing will change. That’s why it’s important to seriously search for what’s valuable to you and keep working on it steadily.”

I have more muscle, technique and knowledge now than I did when I was competing.

The daily routine to remain a top athlete. It was self-training six days a week, an average of more than five hours a day.

“I practice on the ice and train off-ice for about three hours every day. After a quick break, I sometimes train for another three hours, focusing on weightlifting—lifting barbells, swinging dumbbells, the typical weight training exercises. There is no time to relax. Sometimes, my exhaustion shows in my attitude. But I’ve learned to recognize when I’m pushing too hard and try to rest intentionally.”

While he was a fierce competitor during his active career, as a professional now, he’s also a solitary artist. His commitment has become second nature, and through it, he constantly transforms himself into a higher version of who he is.

“In figure skating, even sleeping needs to be considered part of your training. It wasn’t just about being a professional athlete; even during my competitive days, I had to structure my entire life around winning Olympic gold. That hasn’t changed. To be honest, I definitely practice more now than I did back then, I'm more toned, I have more muscle, and I have more technique and knowledge. It's fun to keep improving myself like that."

Valuing Every Small Moment Each Day

At 19, Hanyu won gold at the Sochi Olympics, and at 23, he achieved back-to-back victories at the PyeongChang Olympics. In his late 20s, he attempted the unprecedented quadruple Axel and made a fresh start as a professional skater. The 30 years of his life so far, marked by legendary achievements, are simply a continuation of his present, where he continues to live life to the fullest.

“I think I’ve always been fully focused on the present. From the outside, people probably think I’m someone with an incredibly strong core. But in reality, the thoughts and ideas surrounding that core can be quite fragile. When something bad happens, when I see something unpleasant, when someone says something hurtful… I waver easily. It’s easy for me to lose motivation for practice. But looking back on my 30 years,  I think I’ve always managed to live through those wavering moments with care and keep going.”

Now at a pivotal age of 30, Hanyu describes himself as being "in his prime." His widened experience and perspective bring a deep sense of fulfillment.

“I finally feel like my knowledge, imagination, and physical ability are reaching a new level. There are still many times when my body doesn’t fully align with what I envision, but I've finally begun to grasp how to train in a way that moves me closer to that goal. When I set a goal, I think I have a pretty good understanding of the path to achieving it. But I'm sure when I'm 40, I'll realize that I still didn't understand anything back then. It feels like I’ll keep repeating that process forever.”

“I Probably Have a Stronger Sense of Anticipation for Tomorrow Than Most People"

How does he see himself as a professional skater moving forward? Aware of the ever-present risk of injury, his eyes remain fixed on the future.

“I think I probably have a stronger sense of anticipation for tomorrow than most people. That’s why I feel that if I don’t take responsibility for my actions today, tomorrow will only become more difficult. For example, I think my physical condition today is a direct result of what I did yesterday. I don’t know if this mindset comes from being an athlete. Honestly, in figure skating, even if I go to practice tomorrow, there’s no guarantee I’ll be able to practice the day after. So, it's not that easy to draw a blueprint for the future. But, just as I’ve worked hard for the past 30 years, I want to keep valuing the little moments of each day. I hope that when I look back tomorrow, I can think, ‘I gave it my all today.’”

A life rich in experiences has shaped his intricate way of thinking. Yet, he still leaves room for the unexpected. For Yuzuru Hanyu, a one-of-a-kind skater, walking his own path with unwavering composure is, in itself, a continuous challenge.

Devlog 2024-02-09 (Episode 4 - Part 1 is out NOW!)

It's Friday! And this is a special Friday because it's a RELEASE Friday!

That's right! Episode 4 - Part 1 is now live!

Update Edit: It's also a sad day for my family. I lost someone dear to me this morning, someone even dearer to my loved ones, and my heart is aching with them for our loss. I wish things weren't the way they are. I wish I could do more to ease their suffering.

Episode 4 - Part 1 continues the story after the dramatic conclusion from Episode 3.

It introduces several new characters, several new and redrawn backgrounds, several new portraits, several new music tracks, an overhauled story controller, a new free-roam mechanic, a new star system navigation interface, a lore gallery with unlockable entries, a system for players to load custom-made stories written by other players into the game, a seasonal event (Spooktober Heist), and nearly 40K additional words of content (some being intimate content for Kiaria, Lochem and Khalil).

It also includes two very special player portraits! Thanks to the amazing ladies from Wanderlust Games, you can now play your Mah'Abeu as a younger version of Damon or Ayame from Andromeda Six! (Seriously, if you're hearing about Andromeda Six for the first time– You're about to fall in love. Go check them out and support them if your wallet allows!)

We've been working extremely hard to bring this release to you, and while we've added a ton of new things, we would have loved to add more. Sadly, we had to draw a line in the sand and release what was available.

Some of the things that we could add before the deadline that were requested by our beta testers:

MC is more knowledgeable about the Cephilusk.

Added a location hint during free-roam sequences.

Made Kiaria more Kiaria when dealing with current events.

Your Mah'Abue now crafts the notice being sent to the crew.

Several more personality options (with more on their way)

Most free-roam scenes now have the crew members touching on or hinting at the current situation.

Fixed some logic bugs with Sonia's scene.

Adjusted Andreas' scene with an additional choice if he becomes too much.

Added some additional logic and checks to the response you can give when the crew/your LI asks about how you are coping. (Might still expand on this.)

Your Mah'Abue now has more control over how they handle Nikau.

Basically Miner betrayed us by sexualizing minors behind our backs (and he is friends with someone named Red Radiant who sexually harassed Kev back in 2020 and apparently ships himself with Brandy, a ship which Miner encourages... Crazy I know, we never found this out until after our hiatus and we're all disgusted by that), so Kev called them out for these things

After that Red made a (meme filled) video responding to her document by basically hiding Miner's wrongdoings to the public and giving excuses for the sexual harassment that are prevalent in r*pe culture ("I never sexually harassed her! We were both minors" and "It was never recorded so it never happened!"), only taking Mob's name on it for views (he was only mad at her because she started selling characters from Affinity this year ((2024)) and he thought she lied to him when she told him she wasn't going to do so back in 2022... A lot can change in 2 years. She didn't lie to him, she just changed her mind. This is literally a common sense issue). All while continuing to slander Kev in the process and encouraging his viewers to do the same. He had also misgendered both myself and Kev in his video, calling us both "they" even though he knows what both of our genders are (Red had been to Mobcrit before, he asked Mod Springtrap for a mod role which they denied)

During this occurrence, Aftonsocks, one of the buyers, talked with Miner and told him nothing but lies about a situation that had happened with Kev regarding a co-own, basically siding with him just because he didn't get his way (even though he's... Literally friends with someone both Miner and Red hate ((that being Miles))? Like okay pick your poison I guess)

During this time I had asked for Kev's socials to be censored in Red's video for her own safety involving her personal life, but this request was refused and instead of honoring my request Red actually doubled down and continued to show her socials despite the safety concerns in his shorts and making meme videos about the matter, milking the situation

A little while after Red's video came about Kev made a very in-depth video showing more evidence of the sexual harassment occurring, going over her document, pointing out the strange things in Red's video while showing Miner's wrongdoings ((drawing fetish art of canonical minors via aging them up to sexualize them and using the excuse of "it's just fiction" to defend it, using AI as a source for his claims, etc.)) and that the two of them did no research on her before speaking about her, showing how what Socks said to Miner was all lies with recorded evidence, and revealing that Miles shipped not one, but two inc*stuous pairings with Socks shipping one of those pairings with her ((I say her because Miles detransitioned while the video was being edited)) and even drew ship art of it (It's very long, like a half-hour, but it's worth your time due to how in depth it goes)

Red's response to the matter was basically continuing to milk the situation and Miner's response was him simply continuing to make excuses for his actions

Due to Kev saying all that she needed on the matter, she doesn't wish to be involved further with any more of this mess. All I want is for her to be safe, but both Red and Miner refuse to respect privacy, so I filed a privacy complaint on Red's video. Red (obviously) saw it and blamed Kev even though she didn't do it, and I made a comment on his video where he blamed her saying this to him

After that, we made a video discussing the bad eggs of the fanbase and spoke of this whole situation. With Red making another video in response (it was a meme video disguised as an update video, basically saying that we made a video and was trying to twist our words and not giving a correct timeline of events. As well as only saying the correct gender of myself and Kev's after he was called out about it)

Obviously, I had commented on this video but Red deleted it. Since almost nobody has seen this comment, I'll put it here:

(And for those wondering, Red and Miner never spoke with me in private messages. So once again my request was refused)

Miner has said that he'd make a response to our video, but it will likely continue to only be excuses once again. If we have to, we'll say something about it

Though currently Socks is trying to blame Kev for his own problems that don't even involve her (he is trying to blame his blog's closure on Kev's video, but this is a lie. As Socks was posting like normal even after Kev's video released and only made the post about the closure on the day his problems started). Kev has a post going more in depth about it though

Notes: Hello, hello, hello. Welcome back to our fics. We decided to make our speciality/favourite reader once again: inhuman. Reader is a doppelgänger. They are gender-neutral (they/them) and the doorman. Title is from the song: Guts by graveyardguy. Comments are appreciated and sought after.

Before the outbreak, you never thought you’d have the chance to infiltrate the human race. Your very creation goes against all humane ethics and the deceptive morality therein. When it comes to their pursuit of scientific advancements, government protocols and principles regularly fail to limit their ambition or the lengths they will go to. With their greed for results, you’ve become a lurking by-product of their hard work and study, just like many of your kin.

To mimic another is forbidden by the humans but praised graciously among the Doppelgängers. To be a carbon copy of these pitiful creatures, fooling everyone around you, is sought after. Many are killed or taken back to containment for being unable to fool them, after all. Those that fail and have not perished must learn from it and evolve, just as you have; you wouldn’t have landed this job otherwise, after all.

A card slides through the slot, identifying the person across from you. Next to the little plastic thing lies a piece of paper with “ENTRY REQUEST” typed across the top page. You look over the paper, noting that everything looks correct. A glance over the identification card checks out, too.

“So, does everything check out?” Angus Ciprianni asks, sounding quite happy despite the fact that you’ve been stalling this entire time.

“Your neck,” you say, not taking your eyes off him. Or rather, off his neck. It’s all there is to look at through the window.

“What about it? It’s completely normal,” he insists, sounding confident in his words. You stare a bit longer, internally sighing at how stupid your own species seems to be. You can’t help but humour them at times, taking a multitude of moments in indulging in their need to try and fool you.

“Mr. Ciprianni’s neck is not that long, I’m afraid,” is all you say as you click the red button. The alarms sound as you dial the D.D.D to take care of the— quite frankly— stupid issue at hand. A knock at the window alerts you to the finished clean-up protocol. With the grate over the window lifting, you give a nod at the biohazard-dressed agent. You’ve done this dance so many times that there’s no need to even talk with the simple-minded fools; that is, at least, in your opinion.

With the agent gone, someone occupies the empty window, shoving their documents in through the slot. It’s little Anastacha at the glass, staring at you with tired eyes. You give the young human a small nod, looking over her documents. The lack of buzzing under your skin already tells you that she’s not another Doppelgänger.

“Whatever, can I enter? Mmm...” You slide the information into the opening, letting her take her information before unlocking the door for her. It slams shut, locking back up for the next person in line.

The work you do is repetitive. If you were human, you’d have allowed your vessel to work hazily on autopilot instead of being on full alert. Truly, there is nothing but humans to let through and your species being slaughtered in the name of the government’s “justice.” Perhaps if they hadn’t gone dabbling with things they shouldn’t have in the first place, this issue would not exist.

The end of the day approaches, with there being fewer humans to let in as time progresses. You see more Doppelgängers, sending them each to their deaths or capture. It's not a particularly troubling task, as your kind has no fondness for another, unless it’s in the name of some sort of courtship; you wouldn’t know much more than that, as you tend to avoid such topics with the humans you’re in charge of looking after. As far as you know, you have no feelings nor care for such a trivial matter, and neither does the majority of your species.

You’re about to lock up, looking at the pile of clothes and blankets in a pile; it’s too far from the window to be seen. It’s a place you’ve claimed as your resting spot, having nothing else to do other than be the doorman for this human living complex.

You don’t need much, unlike your squishy counterparts; Doppelgängers can survive just about anywhere amongst humans, and comfort or care is not needed in any capacity. The only thing that matters is blending into their way of living, slowly taking over despite there being no real purpose to it. Well, beyond them being a good source of sustenance, and blending in keeping you hidden as you consume them in their entirety.

It’s just as you’re about to click the button to have the shutters come down, signaling the end of your shift, that you get that buzzing feeling.

In front of you stands one of Mr. Mosses’ Doppelgängers, staring at you with pinprick pupils. The dark caverns that are his semicircular eyes and gaping-open mouth drip with an unidentifiable inky-looking liquid; his lips are upturned into a huge, void-like grin as he stares straight at you.

“How can I help you?” Your face is empty of any emotion, unlike your fellow kin’s.

“Hooooonn…” He drawls, still watching you. He leans towards the glass, his eyes still on you. “Hoon hoon hoooooooon…”

You’re not quite able to understand him or his speech. In your time as a doorman, you've never before met a Doppelgänger that couldn’t speak like the humans. He taps the glass a few times, repeating his single word over and over, almost like he’s attempting a conversation; it’s just one you can’t decipher.

“I don’t understand,” it’s a statement that sounds harsher than you intended it to be. You shouldn’t be indulging in this Doppelgänger, especially since he’s not trying to give you any documents or trying to get in. Or maybe he is trying to get past the door, but it’s hard to know with his limited speech.

It isn’t until a bloody mass is pressed against the glass, smearing its gore on it, that it dawns on you that this is not an attempt to kill you or the humans in the complex— it’s a mating proposal.

Doppelgängers do not share their kills with others unless it’s some form of courtship; it’s much more bloody than that of the Homosapien species. One could say that the ritual of obtaining a mate is horrific when it comes to your kind; to woo another, you must give up the most recent kill you’ve hunted and bestow it upon the chosen partner. From there, it’s only a matter of the other’s acceptance or refusal. Acceptance means the mating ritual is complete, while refusal usually ends with one of the Doppelgängers dead at the hands of the other.

Very few of your kin take a mate at all, as there is no purpose to it other than appearing normal in human eyes. There’s also the added factor of Doppelgängers being very picky when it comes to kills they will accept, especially if they’re not going to copy the hunt’s existence entirely.

The semi-mute man on the other side of the glass presses the gore through the slot, more of the blood from it tainting the once-clean space. He stares, waiting for your answer. A small bud of something lights up in your being. It’s not love, oh, no. Maybe it’s flattery? Confusion? Awe at another so much as considering you as a possible mate? Whatever the feeling is, it’s enough for you to take the mass you’ve been given.

You can see the other shaking, perhaps in happiness, as you turn the offering this way and that in your now blood-soaked fingers. You look over the piece of kill you’ve decided is worth the courtship and take a large bite, the fluids flowing down the sides of your mouth and chin as you devour more and more of the flesh. The coppery taste of blood mixed with the sweet flavour of human meat leads to the entire thing being eaten in just a few bites.

You don’t look at the fake Milkman as you click open the door, allowing him the opportunity to enter the building and towards your little office. You have accepted his courtship.

Interaction tags are used by traits for other purposes, but you can make your own tags, apply them to Interactions, and apply new or existing Interactions to a Lifestyle’s Trait Appeal!

Q: Can we get any more info about demographics? I believe it's been said we can control population settings like gender, orientation, race, etc. Does this also extend to things like traits and income? Is it possible to even extend that to the clothing a certain group of people wear? Also can we set different demographics per region? Per subregion? A: You can control population settings using Population Presets-- Population Presets define a bunch of things like clothes, traits, skills, likes, dislikes, colors, age ranges for the life stages. Then, from the Demographics screen, you can select the proportion of the population for each Population Preset. You can apply clothing to specific groups of people and you can check out Willem’s latest tutorial to see that in-editor! Any demographic changes would apply to your entire population, not specific regions currently, but please do add a request if that’s something you would be interested in.

Q: How many people can you create in the create a character mode? If you cannot create enough for the family you need can you link relationships with other people in the world? A: You can make as many unique characters and save them to your library as you want, however our starting limit for a household is currently set to five people in the character creator– you can add more once you’re in-game. You can also update relationship types in game, either through entering a romantic partnership or going through the mod tools (using Live Edit mode for those who have watched our videos), however we are considering adding more robust options for people moving in and out of households later on.

Q: 1. There's a social media app (Social Feed) in LBY and that's how news get spread around the world. Can we post rumours/gossip on there too? Can they be false? 2. Do things posted in Social Feed affect our relationships with characters we know and don't know? 3. What features most likely won't be ready for Early Access release, but will be one of the first things to get added/changed/improved in Early Access? A: To answer your first question: You can post information that has been crafted to be promotable to social media, including specific actions or state changes (basically things that naturally show up in the timeline). You click on it in your timeline and hit "post to social media.” The content can be whatever you’d like. For our content, we have kept it "true" to avoid confusion but this is absolutely something that modders/creators can use to create chaos gremlin content, like scandalous lies.

Q: If we can ask more than one question, I have another two I'm interested in. No problem if it's just the one question per person. 1. What is the "Markets" section in the mod creator? 2. I've seen postboxes in a few videos now. Are they functional or just decorative? A: For your first question on "Markets": These are in game markets for creative careers like writing, where you can edit the demand/pricing around products. For example, a market might be Science Fiction Novels or Romance Novels, and the markets will go up and down and have a demand/price which changes over time. An important note: We have unhooked our first creative career (Writer) for the start of Early Access, as it requires new UX and some polish. However, we hope to test and edit this feature alongside you all during Early Access! If you’re looking for how to set up a shop, there is a Stores editor in the game right now, which you can use to edit or create new store lists available in online stores, through in-game store displays, and at cash registers. You can actually hook a store up to the object of your choice.

Q: One of my main question was asked that Rocio said she'd look into 🙂 yesterday about would we be able to build worlds in Unity engine them port them into the game? Outside of that, I'm curious if there's a medical system planned that could link to hospitals in the future? A: For your second question, on a medical system: We are currently focused on other priorities for the start of Early Access, however we will be balancing community requests for specific content like hospitals, based on what’s most highly requested. Definitely drop anything you’d like to see in the requests channel!

Q: How many subregions can we attach to one another and what is the largest map size for one region? A: Right now each region is its own map, however, due to their size, we have multiple “towns” in our first region, which serve as subregions. We'll go into further detail on this in future videos, but creating your own from scratch, which I think you're referring to, is separate in Unity and will be a big ol' guide post-Early Access launch. Q: What is the feature you're most proud of? A: We conferred for this one and ultimately, this is going to differ depending on who you ask on the team– however, in general: building a living, breathing open world was one of the biggest challenges that we took on as a team, and ultimately is something that everyone has put hard work into. We had to overcome a lot of technical, art, and design challenges to make the open world work on so many levels. Humans had to simulate, build relationships, collect and share social information, go to work and be believable, and so on. Basically, every little decision we made was impacted in some way by the open world. That is probably our biggest accomplishment as a team, but I'm also open to going around asking everyone individually if you are curious

Q: Have you thought about some iconic lore for premade families already? If so can we get a little hint about who they are A: We are working to add lore to the game (as you all have requested), however we're starting off by testing out a few environmental ways for us to introduce lore. While we don’t have any premade families yet, we are talking about some characters to start populating the character library at the start of Early Access, so please let us know if you have any requests for types of characters!

Q: Can you save characters to a library or similar so you can use the same character in multiple games? A: Yes! This timed really well with our most recent modding video where Willem shows you how. Q: The team constantly monitors feedback on social networks, often there are players with unjustified criticism, is the team satisfied with the feedback? Because it affects the release of the game A: As the community manager, I’m happy to answer this one! Something I learned early on in my time as a community manager is that criticism typically comes from a specific place of dissatisfaction. While the feedback itself might be unclear, the feeling behind it isn’t. So my job as the community manager isn’t necessarily to say ‘Players don’t like X’, it’s really to say why don’t players like X. If someone doesn’t like something because it impedes their gameplay, because it lowers their enjoyment, because it’s not intuitive– those are all different things to solve for, scenarios for the team to tackle. The tldr here is: I’m always happy to receive feedback! I would always much rather receive feedback that needs a quick interpretation from me than receive nothing at all.

Q: For the requests channel I wanted to know if the team would you prefer more singular specific requests? Ex. "I want beanies and pom pom hats" "I'd like to have baseball caps" "I'd love it if we could have bonnets" Or would you rather fewer requests but with more detail? Ex. "I want to see all kinds of hats. Bowler hats, top hats, fedoras, and berets to name a few..." I just want to know what the team would find most easy to go through, so that our requests are as constructive as possible. A: This is fantastic question, thanks so much for asking! To be honest, I think the most helpful for us would be to be as specific as possible-- Some folks may ask for specific things that are more/less popular than others and it's easier for us to digest and understand which when it's a more focused request.

Q: Will we be able to mod the number of traits to be more than 2 per category if needed? A: Currently it's capped at 2 traits per category, however if you find that you need more, please let us know in the ⁠requests channel.

Q: Will it be possible to have different stores attract (or repel) different people based on various things like age, likes, career, attributes, wealth bracket etc? So for example maybe you have a hot topic type store with only goth/punk clothes that attracts teens or goth/punk characters and then you have an upscale avant garde clothes shop that attracts rich customers or those with a snob/posh attribute. Would that be possible? A: Yes, however not something we're currently testing with. Character autonomously shop, so a store with only Teen clothes would only be used by Teens. But we need to dig deeper on this during Early Access to make sure we cover your suggested cases. Which we love by the way!

Q: Hi, you mentioned previously you can only create 5 at a time in character creation, how will this work with big family’s such as parents, children, aunties and uncles and grand parent living together and having that relationship tie ? A: Great question! You can add in characters outside of the character creator and assign them relationships through the Live Edit menu currently. We plan on seeing how this works for the start of Early Access and expanding upon it as we add more family gameplay, so we do hope to have more options for you down the road. Expect the Character Creator to get updates throughout Early Access

Q: Will my current characters simulate if I do a 10-year timeskip? Like start relationship, have children, and so on? A: Our current timeskip includes basic life events right now (including death), and it will exit the timeskip for a birth (once those are available). Other events will be added during Early Access!

Q: Hi! Can lots be placed directly next to each other/how close can they be placed? And can walls be placed on the edge of lots? I want to attempt row houses/dense building areas A: Currently lots can be placed next to each other! Buildings such as terraced houses will require further work during Early access (because lots overlapping or touching can look a bit odd). But yes-- you can customize Lot sizes, place them right next to each other, and place walls/objects on the edges.

Q: What is the population limit per region? A: Population is currently set to 90, but that number may evolve through early access. Population is a key performance driver, so we will include recommended population levels for folks with lower specs. This is a configurable value, though it comes with the caveat that it will impact performance. Things like the number of beds in the world and lots will impact how many people organically visit the town over time and how the town is populated, but you can add/remove those as you see fit!

Q: There's a social media app (Social Feed) in LBY and that's how news get spread around the world. I got a few questions about it. 1. Can we only post information we've seen, or can we post things other characters told us that we haven't directly witnessed? 2. Can we post fake rumours, can fake rumours be posted about us? 3. How do things that are posted on Social Feed affect the humans? A: Hi Vix! Could you split these up into three questions? It helps us when we're going back to answer!

Q: In Life by You will it be possible to run your own business or buy a community lot and also will restaurants, shopping malls, grocery store, convenience store, car dealer, electronics store, supermarket, department store, barber shop, bars, clothing store, motel, hotel, resorts and etc A: You can absolutely create your own community lots and add jobs to them via the editors (like your example of being an "owner"). If you're not wanting to create your own custom store from scratch, you can take objects from existing stores lists and place them on the lot to begin selling.

Q: What would you say the most challenging thing has been in the development of LBY? A: We would say the scale of it. A simulated open world where each object is interactable, plus having the entire game customizable by players and modders, all which with autonomous characters has been a massive challenge. Happily it all came together!

Q: Can you interact with the beach water at all? Such a swimming, surfing, boating, or fishing? A: Water-related activities are not currently in for Early Access, however it is content that is on our designers' radars and will be prioritized once we enter Early Access alongside other community asks. I think you've already mentioned it in the ⁠requests channel, but another good one for that channel!

Q: Can you turn aging off? A: You can currently via console command, we will look into adding aging off as a setting for Early Access! You can also edit your life stages to be younger or older during gameplay or adjust your population using demographics by limiting the age ranges.

Q: Are apartments planned for early access or the full launch? I'm just wondering because I've seen a description on the postbox item that mentioned apartments. A: Apartments aren't currently planned, however it is something we are aware the community is asking for! Like some of the other requests, it will be prioritized alongside those other requests based on what we think the community wants most.

Q: Do we always have to start a new game in the character creator? Can we not just start in a world and pick someone or build first? A: For now, the flow is: you start on a screen where you can select and customize your region demographics, then move into the character creator. Currently you need to go through this flow, but to get around this, you could randomize a character and jump in immediately-- either controlling them or any other person in the world. If you'd like to stick to building, you can also remove characters to build out that way. Noted the request in the ⁠requests channel for this though!

Q: We know about some of your team's thoughts on heavy themes such as nudity, misfortune, abortion and women health (as you are looking at it), Can I ask what is the team's stance on alcohol, smoking (ciggarettes, vaping), light drugs (cannabis) and gambling? Is it something too heavy for the game (even in terms of rating) or is there possibility of adding these into the game? A: We are a PEGI-16 game and will need to stick to the requirements of that rating when it comes to these particular topics. PEGI has specific guidelines around how thse topics can be portrayed. For example, some of this content is allowed by their guidelines but how its is portrayed is crucial. Mods created by others however are not subject to the rating-- just be sure you're tagging your mods appropriately when the time comes!

Q: Does the game come with a calendar where we can add custom reoccurring events to it like wedding anniversaries or some system to track that info? A: The game does come with a calendar system (which you can access viat the phone) which includes player chosen events. Wedding anniversaries are not yet in for the start of Early Access. But a fantastic suggestion for us to add during Early Access!

2023 Reading Wrap Up

Hiya everyone!

So 2023 happened, huh? Pretty chill year, nestled between COVID years and the wild start of 2024 we had in Argentina. So I completely forgot about Tumblrs existence except for Astarion fan edits! Here’s to a better year, productivity wise and every-other-aspect-wise.

Reading wise 2023 was fantastic for me. I read more books by more diverse folks and stepped outside my genre comfort zone (with good results!). So here are the details, with graphs!

2023 Goal Vs. 2023 Reality

Woah woah woah! This year I exceeded my goal courtesy of reading comics. I debated whether to add them to the list or not but in the end I decided that yes, I’d count them, seeing as:

I actually read them and they’re a book-adjacent media (are picture books still books? are graphic novels still books? yea they are)

I’m not competing with anybody so who cares

I don’t want to end up not reading comics because they won’t count towards my goal. Am I an idiot? Yes, a bit.

While on it, my average to finish a book is 6 days - averages are lies, some books I read within the day and one specific fantasy book took the entirety of November!

2023 Ratings

Look at all those 5 stars! Lucky me, enjoying stuff so much lol

It’s rare that I pick up a book without reading the blurb and reviews to figure out if it’s actually a fit for me, and on top of that I’m a positive reader: if the book has anything that works for me it’s likely I’ll enjoy it despite any defects, at most dropping it to a 4. Lastly, like in all things in life, having the bar reasonably low allows me to enjoy most things and not be disappointed all that often.

2023 Genres read

Whenever I pop into a bookstore I’ll beeline to the SciFi, fantasy or horror shelves. In 2022 I decided to diversify my reading by choosing either the winner or one of the runner ups of each genre in Goodreads Choice Awards, but kinda forgot about this in 2023 - still, my 2022 plan clearly made an impact as it’s not a 3 wedges pie chart!

2023 Part of a Series Vs. Standalone

Pretty balanced, but the real question is: did I finish any series? How many of those did I just start and abandon? At a quick glance… I only finished one series (ACOTAR), continued a bunch and started some others. I might have trouble committing.

2023 Author stats

These stats might be irrelevant for some people, but as a lifelong horror fan I realized I was reading mostly white men - decided to widen the pool a bit and it’s a smidge better - still have a ways to go.

2024 Goals

Based on these stats, I set some goals for this year:

Read more books: This one is basic, I’ve been increasing my goal by 10 every year so I’d have to set it to 60 but as I’m now tracking both manga and graphic novels I’m setting it to 90 books. Wish me luck!

Read more books by women and LGBT authors: my favourite genres are unfortunately dominated by white men, so this requires some legwork - for now I already have some women authors I’m interested in and will have to do some more research on authors before purchasing.

Read more BIPOC and non-global-north white authors: I swear I’m not trying to be complicated, it’s just that whiteness is a complicated term when including LATAM - would you say Borges was white or Latin American? Because he was definitely both. So what I’ll try is to include BIPOC or non-global-north white authors. This will also require legwork - small indie books don’t really hit the shelves here in Argentina, so I’ll have to both purchase more local authors and request more BIPOC authored books in NetGalley.

Finish a series: Self-explanatory - I’ll pick one or more of the series I started last year and finish it before starting a new one.

I almost forgot about this conversation, but thought it should be shared here.

This looks like a mess, but I have to post these as screenshots because the original comments have been deleted.

This cruel, aggressive person has been calling me crazy, monster, ill, sick, jealous and 'full of myself'. She has been twisting the truth and spreading lies and slander about me all over social media for years. I can assure you, I'm not any of that. I have no reason to be jealous of anything and I'm not crazy either! I just can't tolerate hateful bullies and liars. This 'adora' is not the lovable and innocent person, she pretends to be.

Never believe anything this rude and vile person and her tiresome sidekick say about me or anyone else!

They seem to have some sort of obsession of my watermarks, they literally drive themselves to the brink of rage over them... because that's all they can complain: I don't post ugly, plastic, over processed content 24/7 but good quality photos and videos. Besides it doesn't matter if 'the watermark is on his body' or somewhere else, it's still a watermark. It's hypocritical to make a lot of noise about something and still continue doing the exact same yourself.

I have been criticizing their work, because Aidan is a beautiful man as himself, he doesn't need their ridiculous improvements and ugly, unprofessional photo and video editing. The collages and videos are tacky and old-fashioned, I've seen those 15 years ago. Their awful plastic creations are a disgrace to this beautiful man, like this photo of Philip above. And I'm allowed to express my opinion as well!

This 'adora' and the tiresome sidekick are the only people who have been causing trouble in this fandom, stealing photos, gifs, videos, ruining every photo and gif with Remini and then whining in their support (FB) group when people don't like or dare to criticize their creations. They have a constant and unhealthy need to bring attention to themselves.

The admins of that FB group speak of 'freedom of speech' and 'freedom of thought' but at the same time the members who dare to disagree are kicked out of their prison-like group. The rest of the members seem severely brainwashed.

I feel so happy and grateful that so many fans of Aidan Turner follow and support me. I don't have any need to compete of who is the fasted and who has more followers, views, likes etc. I just want to share content that doesn't make your eyes bleed.

I'm not going post much about this matter anymore, I'm ignoring most of their BS, but I felt this is something you have to see yourself and to defend myself against these constant lies. I've asked these people to leave my screencaps, edits, gifs, videos untouched but that request has been rudely ignored with obnoxious responses. Any normal person would have understood that request. Y/n caught the Escrima stick that his boyfriend threw him easily “Look alive” Jason ordered swinging is own training stick with ease and obvious practice 

“Oh, so bossy, I like seeing  you all serious and in training mode” Y/N teased lunging forward with his stick pointing at Jason playfully 

Jason hits his stick against Y/n weapon, a stern look in his gaze  “don’t flirt with me, lower your centre” he demanded, causing Y/n to raise a brow and a flirtatious grin on his face as he did as Jason said. 

 They both get into a fighting stance Y/n holding his  weapon in front of himself ready . Jason  moves quickly hitting Y/n stick forcing him to step back. Jason followed after him hitting it again this time Y/n Met his swing the sound of their weapons hitting against each other fills the room. 

Y/N met Jason’s swing stopping it from hitting his, Y/N quickly changed the direction of his swing moving forward causing Jason to have to move back to blocking his harsh swings. 

Jason kneeled during a move to take out his legs but Y/n pirouetted easily pointing his weapon at Jason faces smugly  as they both pant “that the best you got babe” He teased smirking at him.  Jason looked at him with glare before quickly gripping the other boy's weapon with his hand and swooping His stick down to knock out his legs but Y/n jumped, dodging it easily . Jason moved and managed to get the upper hand  knocking Y/N down on the mat and took  his stick from him.  “You got cocky, that could have been the end of you” Jason said, throwing both weapons  into a corner.

Y/n rolled his eyes a smirk on his face “I don’t know about that” he said standing up and throwing a surprised punch which Jason dodges ,Y/n throws another one but Jason  avoids it again. Jason caught his arm  but Y/N managed to elbow him in the stomach making him pull away. 

Y/N spun playfully, walking away as he recovered, Jason went to swing at him but Y/N avoided it by ducking and getting behind him, kicking Jason's leg causing him to fall between Y/N legs, his arms wrapping  around Jason's neck neck getting him in a choke hold. 

“told ya babe ” Y/N teased as Jason struggles to get out of his hold. Y/N twisted  so he was leaning on Jason's back. He locked his leg in front of him, caging Jason slightly as Y/N held his face to the ground. Jason rolled over knocking Y/N back so  Y/N wrapped his leg around Jason's throats as Jason held his wrists captive. 

“ you know I’m beginning to think You like choking me” Jason said teasingly panting slightly out of breath as he struggled to keep his grip on Y/n wrists 

Y/N snorted a laugh and  squeezed a little tiger against Jason's neck  with his  thigh  “maybe I do” he said smirking.  Eventually both of their grips loosen allowing them both to roll and get to their feet still breathing heavily.

They both began  to circle each other as Jason smirks "if I didn’t know any better, I’d say you had choking kink” 

Y/n laughed and shrugged playfully “I never said I didn’t ” he said, flicking his gaze up and down Jason with a heated gaze which Jason returned as y/n smirked at him. 

Jason swallowed “that’s fucking hot” He whispered  before walking quickly toward  y/n and pushing him up against the nearest the wall and covering his lips with his own in a heated kiss he swiped  his tongue against y/n bottom lip for entry which y/n allowed him easily. Just as Jason's hand  began to pull up his boyfriend's tank top Y/n pulled away breathing heavily and heated as spoke with difficulty  “Not here Dick will kill us. 

Jason groaned and pulled his hand away from his stomach  “Bedroom” he suggested quickly his eyes staying trained on Y/n lips. The Other boy nodded and pushed Jason away “ bedroom” Y/n said walking away from him, Jason watched him go for a few second before walking after him quickly
