This piece just like the other had me sobbing for the background. I made every inch of the net by hand pfff.

But it was so worth it!

I love this friend group, they sound like the sweet beans that suddenly turn chaotic

Kiku is pacing in his room, not unlike a caged dog, phone in hand after retrieving it from the entrance. He's annoyed; the meal was so obviously a bribe, and rather than blame Hikaru for his own actions, Kiku is blaming Longwei for disrupting them-- again. The thought that Hikaru is even considering agreeing to this simply based on the invite being extended to the both of them positively burns him up, and he longs for the days in which he could actually do something about it. Skulking around as he does is the extent of what he can do, and once it's finally out of his system, he sits down at the low table in the center of the room.

This is not how I wanted to spend my evening, he thinks, opening the group chat they are all unfortunately forced to participate in. For a good minute, Kiku considers the option right before him. He's always starting shit in this chat, after all...

However, his ears pick up the distinct sound of Hikaru shuffling around in their room, and the idea is discarded as quickly as it came up. Instead, he taps the contact info for Longwei, and then the call button.

Kiku hates himself for what he's going to do, but for the moment, he'll at least salvage some of his pride. As soon as Longwei answers the phone, Kiku skips right over the greetings and launches into a tirade-- albeit a restrained one.

"So, you think you can dangle something like that in front of him and undermine me?" He accuses, stopping himself from slamming his clenched fist on the table. It's all he can do to keep his voice down, but it's still likely going to be heard by just about everyone in the house if they happen to be close enough.

"It's been three decades-- neither of us are interested in some nonsensical custom. The world has long moved on from things like the lunar calendar, or have you forgotten? It's thanks to me that Japan has no need for such things, and I will not allow you to drag us back into the nineteenth century with this."

Kiku laughs rather mockingly, and fully expects to be hung up on at this point-- if it hasn't happened already. As far as he's concerned, Longwei should consider himself lucky that certain addictions haven't been brought into the ridicule session yet.

"Humor me with a response, would you? Before you're twice as old, preferably."

I wish you guys all the best for the rest of 2023, now that the day of the Lunar New Year has passed! Luckily I still have until the Lantern Festival (Yuanxiao Jie) on Feb 5 to finish some of my other art/fic ideas! ;w; 

I should not have prioritized this over homework/sleep, but how could I resist [one of] my CNY art idea when it involved my rabbit OC for the new year of the rabbit?
