My GT Sport Gameplay - Part 15 [Jan 28, 2023]

Hello, hello! Here’s Part 15 of my “Gran Turismo Sport” experience playthrough!🎮🚗

• Okay, back again for another round of "Circuit Experience". And as you can see, I choose picked another batch of eight tracks. So, here's my rate chart for Part 14:

• So far, I don't have any hard rank tracks from my pick, and that's pretty good for me. 🙂👍 Although, I'm having a slight problem with "Dragon Trail - Gardens", but, thankfully, I managed to do 1 lap without a single retry. So, I gave it a Neutral rank. Also, the "Autopolis" track is new to me, which also I gave it the Neutral rank. And what's my favorite race track of the eight? Mmm... Tough choice, but I picked the "Red Bull Ring". Also, shout out to the "Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix" because I recognized this track from my old PS1 racing game; Formula 1'97. 🙂

• Finally, today's "daily workout completion" is the Ford Focus Gr. B Rally Car 🇺🇸. Mmmm... Can't wait to drive in dirt beside the Mustang Gr. B. 🙂

• Once again, much like my previous part, I have now double cars on my (digital) garage, including my starter car, the Honda Civic Type R (UK). I'm starting to get deja vu, here. 🤔 But, I digress...

Anyway, let's move on to the "GT League". 🙂🏁🏆

19th & 20th Screenshots: ↑

• My today’s GT League races are "The Passion of Dr. Wankel" (for Mazda rotary cars) & "Tourist Trophy" (for Audi TT cars). The 1st race I take on is like walking in the park (with Clean Race & Handicap Bonuses) 🚶‍♂️🌳, but the latter is when I switched to "serious" mode 🎮😠. On the 2nd race of "Tourist Trophy" (Dragon Trail - Seaside reversed), I was struggling to reach the leader pole, and my qualified car's horsepower didn't have the strength to chase. 🙁 So, I have to quit the race & tweak the HP settings just a little pinch before I go for another race. 🔧⚙️🚘 However, I ended up in 2nd place 🥈, so I have to tweak more & race again. So yeah, I finally beat the race by tuning my qualified car.

• However, for my 3rd race (Nürburgring Nordschleife) of the aforementioned "Tourist Trophy" I decided not to used this car, and this is the moment where I purchased my first car in GT Sport.

• I went to the Audi dealership in the Europe section of "Brand Central" to buy the Audi TTS Coupe '14 as my achievement trophy for "My First Car". Pretty neat! 😊🏆After that, I'm ready to continue my Tourist Trophy race! Overall, I'm wiping 'em all with a "Clean Race Bonus" 🧹🏁🏎️, including one "Handicap Bonus" from using the other car before. ⬆️🏎️ Plus, I nailed the Nürburgring Nordschleife's (Race 3) "Green Hell" long course without bumps, bruises, or out the tight track! 😃

For the "The Passion of Dr. Wankel" race: ○ Mazda RX500 '70 🇯🇵 (location: Underground Discharge Channel - Kasukabe, Saitama Prefecture, Japan 🇯🇵)

For the "Tourist Trophy" race: ○ Audi TTS Coupe '14 & Audi TT Coupé 3.2 Quattro '03 🇩🇪 (location: Konzerthaus Berlin, Berlin, Germany 🇩🇪)

• The so-called ✌️"other car"✌️ that I refer to was the Audi TT Coupé 3.2 Quattro '03. It put out of the fight at the Northern Isle Speedway (where I claimed the "Handicap Bonus") & the Dragon Trail - Seaside II (reversed), but sometimes, speed wasn't enough against the TTS Coupe. But hey, big props for the 1st gen TT coupe though! 😊👍

• I made huge progress in GT Sport, with eight tracks covered in gold in the "Circuit Experience" 🛣️🥇, and an intense race 🚘🏁🚘 at the "Tourist Trophy" in the "GT League's" amateur league. More importantly, I got 91% of my campaign. As only (last) eight courses left in the "Circuit Experience", hoping I could take out these, in the coming weeks. And once I'm done, I'm onto the "Lewis Hamilton Time Trial Challenge" (after purchasing it using my PSN wallet).😁

I got my very first car in February 2023 and purchased it all on my own. It was a beautiful 2018 Dark blue Honda Civic Sport. I worked two jobs to save enough money for my own vehicle since I was 15. When I first got the car, I drove to the other side of Florida and went over 100 mph for the first time ever. My favorite color is blue so having my dream color car felt great and gave me a strong confidence boost. I felt so pretty being in the car and just standing next to it when I got out. The plan was to have this car all throughout high school. I even decided that I wanted to drive it to prom. Not only would I save money instead of getting a rental, I would match my dress to it. I didn't have a prom date my junior year but I didn't mind since I had my car that I worked very hard for. Our prom was in the beginning of May so I made sure to find the perfect dress in April. Once I did find the dress I was extremely excited just for pictures. However the end of April was the worst timing possible. A week before prom I was in a tragic accident. I was driving alone late at night and had just gotten off the highway. As I was making a left turn I was struck by a large truck and the front of my dream car was completely gone. I had lost everything I worked for within 3 months of having it. One week away from my perfect prom pictures was taken away. I never wore my blue dress next to my blue car. I ended up having to get a rental which just wasn't the same.

Untuk olahraga balap mobil (roda empat), Honda akan melanjutkan partisipasinya di kejuaraan dunia Formula 1 (F1), IndyCar Series, IMSA, TCR Series, Super Formula dan Super GT di Jepang. Pada kejuaraan F1, musim ini Honda melanjutkan kemitraannya dengan memberikan dukungan teknis kepada tim Oracle Red Bull Racing dan tim Scuderia AlphaTauri melalui Honda Racing Corporation (HRC). HRC memproduksi komponen unit daya untuk Red Bull Powertrains (RBPT) sepanjang musim. Dimana pada musim 2023 lalu, tim Oracle Red Bull Racing meraih gelar Konstruktor dan Pembalap dengan meraih total 21 kemenangan. Tahun 2024 ini juga merupakan peringatan 60 tahun keikutsertaan Honda di ajang balap F1. Di Amerika Utara, Honda Performance Development (HPD), yang bertanggung jawab atas kegiatan balap Honda di wilayah tersebut telah berganti nama menjadi Honda Racing Corporation USA (HRC-US) mulai bulan Januari 2024 ini. La Honda Civic 2023 et le Salon des collectionneurs de Drummondville

Il y a quand même un bon bout de temps que je me suis assis dans un siège de Honda. Certains croyaient que j’avais abandonné la marque? Ce n’en est pas le cas. Certaines circonstances ont fait que je n’ai pas conduit de produits Honda depuis plusieurs mois. Il était donc temps que je me rapproche de la célèbre marque japonaise qui a fait la pluie et le beau temps depuis des années en sport automobile, voire même en production automobile.

Si l’on n’entend plus autant parler de Honda de nos jours, c’est peut-être parce que cet important constructeur japonais n’est pas assez dans le portrait actuellement occupé par l’automobile électrique! Car, avouons-le, Honda n’a actuellement présenté rien de remarquable dans ce créneau qui occupe présentement la presse automobile. C’est malheureux, surtout si l’on se rappelle comment Honda a réussi, au début des années soixante-dix, à bouleverser l’industrie automobile dans le monde au complet!

J’y étais! Je me souviens en 1973 de voir, alors que je débutais ma carrière comme enseignant, de nombreux profs (au budget assez serré, merci!) optaient pour la petite Civic pour leurs déplacements. Pour moi, je ne connaissais Honda que pour ses petits véhicules curieux comme la N600 et surtout la miniature sportive S600 au minuscule moteur à quatre cylindres de 606 cc et 57 chevaux tenter de faire la guerre aux populaires Mini Copper au Circuit Mont-Tremblant (d’ailleurs, je me demande où seraient rendues ces petits bolides de course aujourd’hui?)!

Des Civic, nous en avons eues chez nous (chez mon père!), surtout grâce à mon frère Jean qui a participé au Volant Québécois (une série de courses en circuit routier qui avait été mise sur pied par le journaliste automobile Gilles Boursier de La Presse au milieu des années soixante-dix au Québec). Il avait acheté une Civic de cette époque qui avait été «modifiée» pour la course (l’auto était de série mais elle avait une cage de protection et autres modifications du genre pour la course mais aucune retouche mécanique sauf du réglage perfectionné!). Il a participé à plusieurs épreuves au travers la Belle Province alors commandité par le concessionnaire Rainville de l’Île-Perreault, son plus important exploit ayant été un capotage spectaculaire au circuit routier de l’Autodrome Saint-Félicien! Plus tard, il a converti une autre Civic 91976, celle-là), pour des courses sur glace en hiver. Je l’avais aidé dans la préparation de la bagnole (peinte au pinceau!). Mordu de Honda, il avait échangé sa Civic pour une des premières Accord (à boîte manuelle) avec laquelle il a eu un accident d’importance en rallye, un face-à-face avec une fourgonnette dans les boisés de Sainte-Émilie ce qui a mis fin à sa «carrière». Il travaillera par la suite aux Autodromes de Laval et de Saint-Eustache.

Vous comprendrez alors que pour moi, les Honda Civic étaient devenues des «sports cars», les remplaçantes des Mini Cooper de l’époque. En 1978, ma femme acheta une Honda Civic légèrement modifiée qui allait devenir sa voiture de tous les jours (et mon «calvaire» de réparations mineures répétées)!

C’était donc la Civic de première génération. Malgré mon respect pour cette voiture (que je considérerais une légende aujourd’hui), j’ai commencé à me désintéresser de cette auto jusqu’à tout récemment. Qu’est donc devenue la «légendaire» Honda Civic? Il était donc temps que je remette la main sur une Civic. Honda Canada m’a donc confié une telle Honda 2023 mais en finition Touring!

Vous savez, sans doute, que la Civic est (ou plutôt était) la voiture la plus vendue au Canada depuis les 24 dernières années (elle a été battue par la Toyota Corolla l’année dernière), qu’elle a été nommée Voiture de l’année par l’Association des Journalistes Automobile du Canada (AJAC) et des journalistes de l’American Car of the Year nord-américaine en 2022, année où la voiture a été redessinée!

La Civic à laquelle j’ai eu droit fut une berline (l’auto est aussi proposée en coupé sportif) à quatre portes de finition Touring. L’auto que j’ai présentée à plusieurs amis et connaissances a d’abord été identifiée comme une…Accord par la plupart d’entre eux, déjà des connaisseurs de voitures! Il est vrai que pour une «vulgaire» Civic, cette auto affiche une ligne beaucoup plus gracieuse que jamais. Mais on est loin, très loin des sportives «petites» Civic du passé. Sa ressemblance aux Accord nous la fait confondre avec des autos tellement plus imposantes grâce à son empattement plus long et sa voie un peu plus large.  Et pourtant…

L’intérieur de la Civic Touring n’a rien d’une voiture à bon marché non plus. On a affaire ici à une véritable petite luxueuse avec un tableau de bord élaboré qui inclut de nombreuses commandes (certaines pour des accessoires qui devraient appartenir à des autos plus luxueuses) mais il est bien conçu. Outre la niche qui contient les instruments de base (compteur de vitesse, compte-tours, etc…), le tableau de bord inclut un petit écran en son centre pour la navigation, la radio et la caméra de marche arrière. La console centrale retient le levier de vitesses et autres petites commandes mais elle n’est pas trop envahissante.

Les sièges avant de la Touring ont cette caractéristique d’être très enveloppants, presque des sièges de course. Toutefois, sur une longue distance, leur centre devient plutôt dur et moins agréable. Quant aux places arrière, elles ne sont pas si mal pour une berline de cette dimension. Les passagers les plus grands pourraient se plaindre d’un certain manque de place pour les jambes mais pour les gens de grandeur moyenne, ils sont bien.

Quant au coffre, il est surprenant. Il propose quand même beaucoup de place pour les bagages et autres objets!

Sous le capot!

Sous le capot de ma voiture d’essai se cachait un rapide quatre cylindres turbocompressé de 1,5 litre. (Photo Éric Descarries)

Fidèle à la tradition, la Civic propose un moteur à quatre cylindres à l’avant avec la traction avant! Dans le cas de ma Touring d’essai, il s’agissait d’un moulin de 1,5 litre turbocompressé de 180 chevaux et 177 li-pi de couple (la version de base a droit à un quatre cylindres de 2,0 litres atmosphérique de 158 chevaux et 138 li-pi de couple) mais il vient combiné à une boîte automatique à variation continue CVT (ce qui déplaira à quelques amateurs de performance) et à la traction avant. Malheureusement, la boîte manuelle à six vitesses ne vient qu’avec le coupé hatchback. La suspension indépendante aux quatre roues est toujours d’actualité ainsi que les freins à disque aux quatre roues et la direction très précise et les pneus Goodyear Eagle Sport All-Season 235/40 R18.

Sur la route

Évidemment, passer derrière le volant de cette Honda Civic inspire une conduite plutôt sportive. De ce côté, malgré le poids qu’elle a gagné au cours des années (elle est rendue à plus de 3000 livres), la Honda Civic conserve son esprit sportif. Toutefois, sa boîte de vitesses CVT (qui, en vérité, n’implique pas d’engrenages mécaniques comme tel…) enlève un peu de piquant à la conduite de la Civic. Cependant, le plus important défaut que j’ai trouvé à ce petit véhicule presque légendaire, c’est le manque flagrant d’isolation au niveau des passages de roue. En effet, le son venant des pneus est tellement audible dans les Civic qu’on se demande si l’on ne roule pas sur des pneus hors-route! Et l’effet est encore plus saisissant si l’on roule sur une route au revêtement rugueux comme l’autoroute 15. Il est même difficile de se parler tellement le niveau sonore est élevé! On aurait tendance à blâmer les pneus Goodyear mais il faut admettre que de ce côté, il y a place à l’amélioration.

Question performances, la Civic Touring est capable d’accélération de 0 à 100 km/h en quelque huit secondes ce qui n’est pas si mal mais ce qui n’en fait pas une «sportive». Par contre, les reprises en cas de dépassement sont rassurantes. Et la visibilité y est bonne. Quant à la tenue de route, elle demeure à la hauteur de ce que l’on peut s’attendre d’une Civic! L’auto est vraiment toujours aussi plaisante à conduire. Mais, sur une longue distance, je dois vous avouer encore une fois que le son des pneus devient fatiguant (tout dépendant du revêtement, bien sûr!). Du moins, c’est ce que j’ai vécu sur autoroute lors d’un déplacement de Laval à Drummondville…

En ville, c’est une autre histoire. La Civic est parfaitement adaptée à la circulation urbaine. Elle y est très à l’aise avec un encombrement raisonnable. Elle y est facile à garer (surtout grâce aux aides à la conduite et la caméra à l’arrière) mais je trouve que la position de conduite y est très basse et surtout intimidante lorsqu’on se retrouve aux côtés d’un camion de livraison de type poids lourd!

En ce qui a trait à la consommation, j’ai obtenu une moyenne de…9,17 litres aux 100 km alors que l’ordinateur de bord indiquait 7,0. ! Et je l’ai calculé deux et trois fois! J’ai déjà lu dans d’autres reportages que l’on y avait observé une consommation qui dépassait celle mentionnée par le constructeur. Mais ici, je fus très surpris! Pourtant, je n’ai pas abusé de la pédale! J’ai même vu des résultats de 8,7 dans certaines publications canadiennes…Hummm!

Quant au prix de cette auto construite au Canada (Alliston, Ontario pour la berline), dans sa version de base, elle affiche un prix de 28 230 $. La berline Touring qui me fut confiée avait, elle un prix de 35 280 $. Disons qu’on est loin du prix des Civic si simple des années soixante-quinze! Mais c’est la réalité. Toutefois, il me serait difficile de ne pas la recommander. La Civic a déjà fait ses preuves au point de vue fiabilité et robustesse. Mais à ce prix, on ne peut s’attendre à moins, n’est-ce pas?  Surtout que la concurrence (Mazda 3, Toyota Corolla, Volkswagen Jetta, Hyundai Elantra, Nissan Sentra et autres) se fait de plus «menaçante»!

Le Salon des Collectionneurs

J’ai donc profité de la Honda Civic pour aller à Drummondville où se tenait le Salon des Collectionneurs. Sur place, je ne me doutais pas qu’il y aurait tant de visiteurs. J’y ai donc vu plusieurs belles collections et de multiples articles intéressants à acheter…mais je me suis retenu! C’était quand même un évènement intéressant!
