Okay, it's time for my end-of-the-year Follow Forever...this year has been kind of low activity for me, something I plan to correct in the coming new year. But without further delay, here it is, starting with the honorable mentions.

@entangledmuses: You're definitely one of my closest followers, you've been putting up with my ass since 2013, and even though we had ups and downs, you're still dealing with me; I feel like I should apologize for that. You've given me my number one ship, and I love them, not saying that I don't love all of our ships, and I know you know which one I'm referring to.

@aquamanandfriends: What can I say about you that I haven't already? This one is a tough one, but let's start by saying that I love how big of a nerd we are for Star Wars. I love our little universe and can't wait to expand on it; Ellis and Anakin are some of my favorite BROTPs. Plus, it's fun having you on my dash, and I love seeing you and @thestoriesincoffeestains stuff on my dash. It brings me no greater joy than seeing you on my dash.

@goddamnmuses: This motherfucker! We don't interact as much as I like us to, but it's still fun seeing you on my dash and all the shenanigans your muses get up to; you're definitely in that few that has put up with me for so long, like seriously, what is wrong with you that you want to interact with the likes of me? LOL. I adore Peter and Ellis. Here's to more time writing together.

@heartonanoose: Though you disappear for days, weeks, maybe months, I can honestly say you're one of my best friends on here, and I love you with your crazy ass, and just as much as Vergil and Aluzka drive each other crazy, you can tell that our friendship pours into them both. You’re 800 miles from home.

The land is flat, fields empty, too early in the season for anything to grow. An alert comes across your phone—tornado watch. The sky threatens rain, but so far, the dark clouds above have only produced lightning bolts that arc across the sky. You’ve weathered your fair share of storms before, hurricanes and nor’easters, but none in a place like this, vacant and open.

Yellow green. They call it a tornado sky.

You sit in the backseat of your friend’s Honda, waiting in the drive thru of a truck stop Arby’s, hungry from your time on the road. Beside the car, a dying light flickers almost rhythmically. You can’t look at it for too long. As you order nuggets, your friend compliments the cashier’s hair. Pull to the curb, she says, I’ll get you a fresh batch of fries, thank you, you’re welcome, have a nice night.

The car drifts forward and stops.

You hear her.

She’s quiet. If you think too hard, her voice disappears. As you wait in the flickering light, wind buffeting the vehicle as the sky decides how much damage it wants to unleash, she sings:

Hi! You caught me at a good time (one where I have energy) so let's see if I can pump this out. I am in no way an authority on the entire Saw fandom so I will only be talking about my little corner of the internet. Please forgive me, my beloved followers, mutuals, and other owners of posts I have loved in this very small fandom-because I may forget some of you. The brain fog sometimes gets the best of me and if I did a full complete list, it would be.... It would be so long. This is in no way in order of best or worst, and sometimes I just have no words for why I love a person's blog.

@turnipoddity - Oh, what an artist! Every single post I see, love it. So excited to see an artist acquiring the Saw brainrot.

@bloodcoveredgf - Luna! Also just all around funny & good posts in addition to the Saw insanities.

@dracofelin - Jay has such good writing, and will make you love the ship of Mark Hoffman/Peter Strahm (coffinshipping).

@thefoulbeast - Simply put, Will's art makes me want to bite my own arm off. If you're interested in the video game Pathologic, his blog is worth a follow for that too.

@bathroomtrapped - I sometimes get the honor of previewing Larry's art mid-construction (because with all those colors and layers, it looks like building a house) and even half finished, it blows my socks off <3

a lot can happen in a year. 

from the beginning of the year to the end of the year, i've been on six or seven new medications (give or take). i went from being unemployed for over a year and a half to having a part time job that pays the same as my last. i went from hardly ever leaving the house to seeing movies and going out with friends. i started doing therapy again. and i rejoined tumblr, something i wasn't sure I'd ever do again. i've never been overly fond of social media to begin with, and i wasn't sure if I was even making the right decision to start using it again. i had been in fandom communities off and on for years, with experiences far more negative than they ever were positive, and i couldn't be sure that this would be any different. 

i am so very glad to say i was wrong.

i've talked about elvis on a handful of occasions now, but allow me, if you will, the chance to be sentimental about its significance one last time. prior to june of this year i had no real concept of what baz lurhmann had planned when he released elvis 2022 into the world. yet another musical biopic, this time carried on the shoulders of a relative unknown? i have always had love for baz lurhmann's artistry, but this seemed like a long shot, even for him. 

still, it had my attention. 

i had given up on any attempts to connect with my family after years of false promises, spending most of my summer feeling isolated from most of the people in my life for one reason or another. i decided I'd treat myself to something after the way the year had gone thus far. knowing my dad liked elvis, i convinced him to go see the movie with me on its opening weekend, thinking we both might get something out of it.

it was, without a doubt, one of the best experiences i've ever had sitting in a theater.

i went on to see elvis seven more times in theaters, each time wondering whether or not the magic would wear off and it would lose its opulent, cinematic luster. in reality, it only ever burned brighter and brighter, giving me a love and appreciation of elvis presley that i wouldn't otherwise have beyond the simple enjoyment of music i had listened to off and on for as long as i can remember. it introduced me to a talent whose performance was so captivating it made me overlook tom hanks in every scene he was in. and, perhaps more than anything, it introduced me to people who were not only like-minded in their experience with this film, but were unwavering in their kindness and their friendship.

elvis is not the entity of my tumblr experience (this being my 4th time interacting on the platform). there are many other people and types of content i have interacted with since starting this blog and, if you have made it this far, i simply want to thank everyone for the memories they have given me at a time when I needed it most. 

to the people who colour my dash with their passion for the things they love most. my dash would not be the same without you.

i never expected to have followers, or an impromptu movie club, or even a blog to begin with. i certainly didn’t expect to end the year on a positive note. i am not someone who makes a habit of being particularly optimistic, but i dare to hope that maybe, just maybe, this next year will be better. to all of you reading this, wherever you are, may you find kindness and warmth and many blessings in 2023. may you eat well and heal and continue to grow. may you find comfort in the things you love, and may your new year be rich with the love and support of the ones you hold dear in your life, be it family, friends, or pets. whatever your year may have been, i hope it ends on a better note than it began on, and i look forward to not only sharing new films, but making new memories with all of you.

Bughead Appreciation Week - Day 1 Bughead Fandom Love Day

First of all: thank you @bugheadcentral for putting this together! I think we all need this.

I won’t even attempt to name all the people in this fandom I’m thankful for because I will inevitably forget someone and feel terrible about it!

I have been in this fandom since Jan. 2017 and so many people have entered (and some since exited but I still remember them fondly) my life because of this crazy show. There’s too many to name in just one post (and I have mommy brain and would forget some of you)!

If we’ve ever interacted, I hope I made you feel like you mattered and like you brought something into my life. You all have. So here are a few blanket statements:

1. I’m so very thankful for all our Bughead fic writers who keep finding new ways of writing our ship falling in love over and over again in thousands of different manners. They have been especially important since canon has been failing us.

2. Thank you to all the wonderful gif makers. I stopped watching at 4.16 and you guys allow me to see only the good Bughead stuff that’s happened since then and remind me of all the wonderful moments we got before things got so completely messed up.

3. Thank you to the ones I call the 'Bughead commentators' because even though I stopped watching, through following your blogs, I can keep up with what’s happening in the land of Bughead on Riverdale.

4. To every single one of you who has encouraged my writing in any way, liked, shared, commented on my stuff: thank you! You enrich my online life and bring me joy. I’m grateful for you.

5. And finally, thank you to all the artists who’ve drawn Bughead. I hope it’s no secret how much I adore each of you, just look at my art collection and you’ll see that.
