Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren to Star in ‘Yellowstone’ Prequel ‘1932’

Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford are joining the “Yellowstone” universe in the upcoming series “1932” for Paramount+.

“1932,” which is the show’s working title, is an origin story introducing a new generation of the Dutton family. It’s set to explore the early 20th century when pandemics, historic drought, the end of Prohibition and the Great Depression all plague the mountain West and the Duttons who call it home,” the streamer said in a release.

(Note that the actual title of the show is 1923)

1923: Harrison Ford & Helen Mirren Series Expanded to Two Seasons, Paramount+ Sets Premiere Date

1923 is coming soon to Paramount+, and the series will stick around a bit longer than expected. What was expected to be a one-season limited series, has now been expanded to two eight-episode seasons. The Yellowstone prequel series will star Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren, Sebastian Roché, Darren Mann, Michelle Randolph, James Badge Dale, Marley Shelton, Brian Geraghty, Aminah Nieves, Julia Schlaepfer, Brandon Sklenar, Robert Patrick, and Jerome Flynn.

The series will arrive on Paramount+ on December 19th with a special two-hour premiere.

Ford CEO To Release Second Season Of His Podcast "Drive"

What does it say about podcasting that the CEO of a corporation ranked 19th in the Fortune 500 and brings in more than $160 billion in revenue annually has his own podcast?

It says that podcasting is a legitimate media force. Kudos to Ford CEO Jim Farley for using podcasting as a valuable tool.

Usually, CEOs are meglomanical, greedy, and power-hungry. Submitted as evidence -- Linda Yaccarino X/Twitter; Mark Zuckerberg Meta; Michael Tipscord State Farm; Elon Musk Tesla; and any recent CEO of Boeing.

When Spotify first approached Ford in 2021 about the idea of launching a series with a business leader, Farley didn't like the idea. He said he didn't want to be that boring business leader guy.

So he took a whole different approach, talking about life and car memories rather than business tips.

The pilot project, recorded between the fall of 2021 and spring of 2022, aired exclusively on Spotify. Season 1 routinely ranked in Spotify's Top 50 Business podcasts, reaching as high as the Top 10 out of 996 shows, Ford spokesman Dan Barbossa told the Detroit Free Press. That was part of the inspiration for Farley continuing the project, because it's finding an audience, Barbossa said.

The top three most listened to episodes (in order) featured football legend Tom Brady, actor Dax Shepard and late-show host Jimmy Kimmel.

So, Jim Farley is bringing back his "Drive" podcast for a new season.

Farley has a fresh lineup of weekly guests, starting with Dr. Sanjay Gupta, CNN correspondent and son of the first female engineer at Ford Motor Co. The first episode, which debuts Jan. 10, will be available on Spotify, Apple and YouTube. Upcoming guests include singer Kelly Clarkson and late-night host Jimmy Fallon.

The full lineup has not been released because Farley is still taping, according to The Detroit Free Press.

"Cars say a lot about who we are," Farley said in his Season 2 teaser. "They kind of represent what you stand for, whether you're explicit about it or whether it's a bit of a secret. This season on Drive, I'm going to talk to all sorts of different people."

When Farley talked to Gupta about what it was like growing up in Michigan, he tells how his parents met after his mother's car broke down.

"My friends would go to my parents for dating advice when I was growing up," Gupta said in the podcast. "When you have a mom like my mom, there's nothing that you don't potentially strive for, I guess. It doesn't mean you get everything. Don't, don't get me wrong. But why wouldn't you do that? Try that. Yeah, just go for it. Why not? You know, that was always her sort of approach. And so the brakes were off ..."

When Farley talked to Clarkson, she talks about struggling to buy her first car and why it was important.

"You know, my first car I ever bought for myself was a Ford Explorer Sport. And I felt like, I mean, it was way too much for me to be buying. It's my first car, but I did it all by myself. And, um, I had like three jobs," she said. "It ... just represented freedom and opportunity."

Season 1 was exclusive to Spotify and Season 2 will now be available across all podcast platforms. This move expands the listener reach, Barbossa said.

Kudos to Farley for his vision. Now, we have to get the other 499 Fortune 500 CEOs to stop focusing on stock buybacks, quarterly profit projections, and indiscriminate cost-cutting to do some good in the world. They could start with an entertaining and informative podcast.

Soulframe is Elden Ring meets Ghost of Tsushima as a “cozy” MMO

TennoCon 2023 experiences a silence, which is unusual given the event's sold-out status and large number of guests. Why, you inquire? Simply said, it's Soulframe. Our first in-depth look at the new MMORPG, which is unmistakably inspired by 2022 Game of the Year Elden Ring, has been provided by Digital Extremes. In order to learn more about the upcoming game, PCGamesN had the privilege of meeting down with Soulframe's chief creative officer, Steve Sinclair, at TennoCon 2023. It is set in a beautiful, high-fantasy setting that serves as a stark reminder of some of the evils that exist in our own world. Nestled in Digital Extremes’ cozy streaming room amid myriad Warframe goodies and a rocking horse (that Warframe creative director Rebecca Ford informs me used to talk), I ask Sinclair about Soulframe’s Elden Ring-esque aesthetic. Combat features a lot of dodging and parrying, and while the ‘purified’ world looks more akin to something out of Fable, the warped, twisted iteration of Midrath that we’ll likely spend most of our time in certainly channels the moodiness of Elden Ring’s Lands Between. When I ask if Soulframe is directly inspired by the game, Sinclair tells me “it’s impossible to avoid it. When we were naming the game, we have this premise of the souls of our ancestors, and then we put f**king ‘souls’ in the name.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5PPPNbJ3UKc “When Elden Ring came out, we were just starting on Soulframe and obviously we, like every developer in the world, looked at each other and went ‘oh shit.’ was just so incredible in terms of how the exploration felt and, for me, the non-linearity made it that, when you hit a wall, you just go to a different place – which was refreshing. So yeah, we are taking a lot of inspiration from it.” However, it’s not the only game that has inspired the Soulframe saga. “There are a lot of other influences there; great melee combat games like Ghost of Tsushima are huge ones as well. You’ll probably notice that the camera is a bit more like Ghost, and less like Elden Ring.” An armored character with a sword fights an enemy with a stag skull for a helmet in a forest clearingHe does tell me, however, that there’s a “cozy” element to the game. Soulframe is a step away from the grimdark worlds of series like Warhammer 40k, and Sinclair says he’s hoping to channel more “Disney princesses” than blood, guts, and gore. We see a bit of that during the menu sequence when your character has fallen asleep in the forest and accrued a slew of adorable animals who have dozed off in their lap. When I ask who came up with the idea of adding said adorable sleeping critters, Sinclair tells me “that was Geoff . I genuinely felt tears well up in my eyes as we watched the Torment Stag boss fight – that moment cemented the fact that I want to play this game. The music, the aesthetic, and just the whole meaning behind Soulframe has sunk its claws into me, and it’s already skyrocketed towards the top of my most-wanted games.
