So, Dreams of heaven last night.

I saw it.

Felt it—unearthly good feel to it.

Plus—I think I encountered my soul (in the dream) in the old “Coffee Loft” which is now Preservation Coffee.

And( while I was awake) I heard 3 knocks on my bedroom door.

Death knocking?

Some say that if you hear 3 unexpected knocks on a wall or door, it portends a death.

I have been writing in the same coffee house space in Modesto, California since the late 1980s.

It has gone through different owners and names, but, it has always been a coffee house.

When I first began going it was called “The Coffee Loft”. Now it is called “Preservation Coffee”.

maybe it was true, with how cheap his lies were becoming as well as with the way he acted.

“please don’t lie to me again,” you choke out, trembling fingers slipping over the chats as you forward the link, “i can’t take it.”

tears linger at the corner of your eyes as haechan’s widens at the article, scrambling to scan the write-up.

and you say the one thing that makes haechan’s body burn with heat and hesitancy, despite the freezing weather.

“do you even still love me?” it was a sentence you never wished you needed to say, but, all good things must come to an end.

you just wished this would be an exception.

“i- no, i don’t think… so, anymore.“

the answer was a bullet, shattering your heart even more as he stands dumbfounded and caught in the act.

the atmosphere changes again; the downpour became background music, the conversation of pedestrians faded away and the cacophony of sounds blasting from your headphones were enough to keep you distracted.

“at least your last answer wasn’t a lie,” you whisper, brushing past haechan into the heavy rain. it soaks into your clothes with a coldness that was almost deadly.

all you could focus on, however, were the hot, salty tears trickling down your face as the night descends deeper in oblivion and the hour that haechan kept you waiting for fades away into nothingness.
