New Tesla, Audi & Volkswagen EV launches due in 2020

It’s very difficult for even a car lover to keep a track of every car and to know when they are going to launch, especially if you are a truly interested in Electric Vehicles (EVs). There are many EVs going to launch within the next twelve months despite the Global Pandemic – Coronavirus. So, it is worth knowing the details of few of these EV launches and their main features including price, launch date and performance.

Tesla Model Y

This model was revealed in March 2019, however it is not expected to be available for sale in US for another 6 months or and the UK even after that. It is the sister vehicle to the Model 3 will come up as a much-in-demand as a compact SUV with the alternative to include a third column – which could make it the go-to EV for big families. It share a common platform and powertrain with the Model 3, which will ideally accelerate Tesla’s capacity to deliver vehicles on schedule.

A much developed form of the company’s ‘supercomputer’ semi-automatic driving system is also anticipated, which will be an increasingly powerful performance variant.

Tesla Roadster

Tesla Roadster is a leading sports car which is here to replace the original one – Lotus-based Roadster that announced Tesla to the world, the next-generation Roadster has been previewed extensively ahead of an official debut. As per Tesla it has a top speed more than of 250mph and can reach a speed of 0-60mph in 1.9 seconds, and it has a range of 620 miles which is due to its 200kWh battery pack which is the biggest in a production EV. Tesla has decided to price first 1000 cars at $236,466.42 and will be termed as Founder Edition Models. After that they have decided to make it around $188,865 once the general sales begin.

Audi E-tron Sport back

Audi will start the deliveries of its 2nd SUV at the end of the spring. So, just like any other e-tron model, Audi is offering two power variants for now: a 50 and a 55. These converts to 308bhp/398lb ft and 355bhp/413lb ft respectively. Customers can expect around 278 miles of range, as per the WLTP test cycle. Its power comes from twin electric motors that produce up to 402bhp which allows for a 0-60mph in just 5.7seconds.

Its price start at around $77640 for the base E-tron a 50 where as a 55 will be around $90481. If you will look it as a complete package, Audi’s E-tron is well thought out car to rock the roads in coming future.

Volkswagen ID 3

Planned and worked as an unadulterated electric vehicle (EV), the ID hatchback will be a decisive vehicle launch for Volkswagen (VW). It will be a close match to the Golf hatchback in size. Volkswagen is expecting to price it from $34000- or near to Golf diesel, making it one of the most reasonable EV than existing models.

It will be based on the integrated MEB platform, and offer different battery alternatives which falls within the range of 249 and 373 miles between charges. As per the reports the final plan will be based on the original concept of 2016, which inspired many other ID Models, which we can expect to launch within coming years.

In early 2018, Scania invested €10 million in the battery manufacturing company Northvolt. The collaboration concerns the industrial scale production of battery cells. A joint research consortium called European Battery Union led by Volkswagen and Northvolt was announced recently. The consortium is applying for funding from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy to finance the research, development and industrial scale production of battery technology. Furthermore, the Volkswagen Group is one of the largest car manufacturers in Sweden. 103,000 passenger cars and 16,700 trucks from the Group were registered in Sweden in 2018, accounting for a 27.4 percent share of the passenger car market and a 30 percent share of the truck market. 2020 Volkswagen Golf • • • • With the new Golf, Volkswagen has started a hybrid offensive. As the first model of the brand, the eighth Golf will be available in no less than five hybrid drive versions. Its debut also celebrates 48V technology: a belt starter generator, 48V lithium-ion battery and the latest generation of efficient TSI engines form a new mild hybrid drive in the eTSI. Tangible benefits: consumption has been cut by up to 10% (on the basis of WLTP) and the vehicle is extremely agile and comfortable when moving off. Volkswagen will offer the Golf in three eTSI output stages: 81 kW / 110 PS, 96 kW / 130 PS and 110 kW / 150 PS. The eighth generation of the best-seller will also be available as two plug-in hybrid drive variants. A new efficiency version generates 150 kW / 204 PS while the very sporty GTE delivers 180 kW / 245 PS. Both Golf versions with plug-in hybrid drives will launch with a new 13 kWh lithium-ion battery on board that enables larger electrically powered ranges of approximately 60 kilometres, and temporarily turns the Golf into a zero-emissions vehicle. New VW Golf GTI, TCR, GTD and R: power outputs confirmed Following yesterday's leaked image of new Volkswagen Golf GTI's rear-end, official power outputs of it and three more hot Golfs set to debut throughout 2020.  Set to make its official debut at the Geneva motor show in March, the GTI follows the plug-in hybrid GTE, revealed last year, and will be joined by a high performance TCR variant, a new diesel GTD and a range-topping R.  The slideshow - which appears to have come from a brand or dealer presentation - confirms the GTI's previously reported power output of 241bhp (converted from the kW figure). That's the same output as the GTE. It also shows a TCR variant (which may be badged something else) with an output of 296bhp.  The diesel GTD returns, too, with power upped to 197bhp, but it's the Golf R that once again heads up the range. This appears to put out 329bhp - a 33bhp increase on the outgoing car.    Following the reveal of the GTI and GTD at Geneva motor show, the R version is expected to be shown in July at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.  The transformation from regular Golf to GTI is likely to be as subtly handled as previous variants. Review: The Improved 2020 Volkswagen Passat Is a Missed Opportunity

When Volkswagen decided to launch the significantly updated 2020 Passat near some of Southern California’s legendary driving roads, it raised a few eyebrows (both of mine). The Passat is no longer our first choice for a midsize sedan we’d hoon up a world-class road like Angeles Crest, but could this midcycle refresh change that?

The U.S.-spec 2020 Passat still rides on an old platform—unlike the Passats for the Chinese and European markets, which are now built on VW’s much newer MQB architecture that underpins the Golf (a MotorTrend favorite). So even though the Passat is refreshed for 2020, the body-in-white is essentially the same as the car that took home our Car of the Year honors in 2012. VW says this is to keep costs down because sedan sales are on the decline in the U.S., but as a result the Passat is hindered from start to finish.

For 2020, the bodywork is now a bit swoopier, with a reworked front-end design, new LED headlights, a fresh grille that ties it to the current Jetta, and a sculpted rear that makes the Passat a more handsome machine than before.
