You heard it here first. The Levorg will be the start of a luxury brand for Subaru. As the next decade begins Subaru will be launching a single car brand with the Levorg (who knows if that’s what it will be named) as their flagship model with more to follow.

When the Levorg is on the new Subaru Global Platform it will likely lose its boy racer scoop and other visual characteristics that link it so heavily to the WRX and Outback, but under the hood will still be a turbo-charged boxer engine and Subaru’s signature all wheel drive pumping power to all four wheels. That being said, expect a premium price with Subaru’s cutting edge safety features and all the bells, whistles, and plush textures you’d expect from European luxury brands.

We don’t know what’s on the horizon for this potential new brand, but it wouldn’t be a stretch to expect a version of the Viziv 7-seater or perhaps even a return of the SVX as a more sophisticated sports coupe. For now let’s all be thankful (or hopeful) that at least some version of the WRX wagon that so many other markets enjoy is finally coming to the United States.
