Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) Directed by Steven Spielberg off a story by George Lucas, an eponymous archaeologist (Harrison Ford) travels the world and battles a group of Nazis while looking for a mysterious artefact, in what is now often considered as one of the greatest films of all-time. Infernal Affairs (2002) Martin Scorsese's Oscar-winning The Departed is a remake of this original Hong Kongian film, in which a police officer is working undercover in a Triad, while a Triad member is secretly working for the police. Both have the same objective: find the mole. Into the Wild (2007) Based on Jon Krakauer's nonfiction book, Sean Penn goes behind the camera to direct the story of a top student and athlete who gives up all possessions and savings to charity, and hitchhikes across America to live in the Alaskan wilderness. Iqbal (2005) In writer-director Nagesh Kukunoor's National Award-winning film, a hearing- and speech-impaired farm boy (Shreyas Talpade) pursues his passion for becoming a cricketer for the national squad, with the help of a washed-up ex-coach (Naseeruddin Shah). The Irishman (2019) Based on Charles Brandt's 2004 book “I Heard You Paint Houses”, Martin Scorsese offers an indulgent, overlong look at the life of a truck driver (Robert De Niro) who becomes a hitman working for the Bufalino crime family and labour union leader Jimmy Hoffa (Al Pacino).

John Wick (2014) In the first part of what is now a series, a former hitman (Keanu Reeves) exits retirement to find and kill those that stole his car and killed his dog. Less story, more action, with the filmmakers drawing on anime, Hong Kong action cinema, Spaghetti Westerns, and French crime dramas. Jurassic Park (1993) It might be over 25 years old at this point but watching the very first Jurassic film from Steven Spielberg — based on Michael Crichton's novel, which he co-adapted — is a great way to remind yourself why the new series, Jurassic World, has no idea why it's doing. Lagaan (2001) Set in Victorian India, a village farmer (Aamir Khan) stakes everyone's future on a game of cricket with the well-equipped British, in exchange for a tax reprieve for three years. The Little Prince (2015) Antoine de Saint-Exupery's 1943 novella is given the animation treatment, in which an elderly pilot (Jeff Bridges) recounts his encounters with a young boy who claimed to be an extra-terrestrial prince to his neighbour, a young girl. Rachel McAdams, James Franco, and Marion Cotillard also voice. A Little Princess (1995) Alfonso Cuarón directs this tale of a young girl who is forced to become a servant by the headmistress at her New York boarding school, after her wealthy aristocratic father is presumed dead in World War I. The Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001-2003) Peter Jackson brought J.R.R. Tolkien's expansive Middle-Earth to life in these three three-hour epics, which charts the journey of a meek hobbit (Elijah Wood) and his various companions, as they try to stop the Dark Lord Sauron by destroying the source of his power, the One Ring.

Loveless (2017) A Cannes winner about the social ills of life in modern Russia, told through the eyes of two separated parents who are drawn back together after their 12-year-old child goes missing. The Lunchbox (2013) An unlikely mistake by Mumbai's famously efficient lunchbox carrier system results in an unusual friendship between a young housewife (Nimrat Kaur) and an older widower (Irrfan Khan) about to retire from his job. Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (2015) With the organisation he works for disbanded and his country after him, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) races against time to prove the existence of the schemers pulling the strings in this fifth chapter. Introduced Rebecca Ferguson to the franchise. Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975) The legendary British comedy troupe mix their talents with the tale of King Arthur and his knights, as they look for the Holy Grail and encounter a series of horrors. Monty Python's Life of Brian (1979) Satire so cutting that it was banned for years in the UK and elsewhere, Life of Brian saw Monty Python turning their eyes on more long-form storytelling. My Neighbor Totoro (1988) Set in post-war rural Japan, a heart-warming tale of a professor's two young daughters who have adventures with friendly forest sprits. Hayao Miyazaki writes and directs. Mystic River (2003) Three childhood friends reunite after a brutal murder, in which the victim is one's (Sean Penn) daughter, another (Kevin Bacon) is the case detective, and the third (Tim Robbins) is suspected by both. The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012) Emma Watson stars in this coming-of-age comedy based on the novel of the same name by Stephen Chbosky, who also wrote and directed the film. The Super Bowl matchup is set, and Geoff Schwartz identifies one reason to believe in each team.

Wow, folks. I’m emotional. This is awesome. For those who don’t know, my brother, Mitchell Schwartz, is the starting right tackle for the Kansas City Chiefs. And he’s now in the Super Bowl. How cool. I’m so happy for him and for his team.

The Chiefs face off against a very complete San Francisco 49ers team. They are a beast. This is an exciting contest that either team can win, as evidenced by the early line, which opened with the Chiefs as a 1.5-point favorite.

At quick glance, let’s explore why each team will win.

Why the Chiefs can win: They have the best player on the planet

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes is coming off a marvelous game against the Titans, going 23 of 35 for 294 yards and three touchdowns, along with a team-high 53 rushing yards and another touchdown. Mahomes saw the field from the start, and the Titans attempted to play a ton of zone coverage and drop eight when they could. They even put a spy on Mahomes, and it did little to affect him.

When no one was initially open, he’d move out of the pocket, avoid the spy, and find someone down the field (he dealt with multiple drops throughout the game as well). When no one was open, he’d use his legs to get yards.

The biggest moment of the game happened before the end of the first half. The Chiefs scored to cut the Titans’ lead to 17-14. The Titans got the ball back with roughly four minutes in the second quarter and needed a drive before the half to extend their lead, as the Chiefs had the ball out of the half. What if a convenience store was a place to waste time?

Amazon’s next grocery shop format looks… quite conventional? None of the “just walk out” checkoutless technology seen in Amazon’s Go stores, but there will be digital shelf labels, and an area for order pickup (by customers and delivery partners) and returns. So perhaps this grocery store experiment is about where logistics meets digital. 

You might think of retail changing along the dimensions of speed and visibility. Speed: Amazon makes things a bit slower (you have to wait a day or so). Convenience stores make things faster (the store is on your way home, and you’re in there for 5 minutes). Mobile phones make everything faster (immediate purchase) and slower (delivery the day after tomorrow). 

Visibility: high street retail presents goods in your eye line. Ecommerce hides everything from you except the advertising call to action, the digital shopfront and the delivery person. And Argos moves the inventory out the back so they can stock a wider range. 

Maybe shops could do both hidden and visible or both fast and slow at once: could you have a convenience store that also sold services, even if purchasing them took advice and time for consideration? Or could there be convenience shops that you wanted to waste some time in?

Supply chains and coronavirus

So with the Bronco unveil fast-approaching, I felt with recent information we should probably have one last thread about what to expect before the official unveil. (Timelines for that range between end of this year to the beginning of next year, so less than 6 months away!) Some of this is speculation, but I've only included the stuff that I've read from trustworthy sources on the Forums and linked sources when possible. Everything about the year, and new frame development came from this post on the Forum which has a lot of info. We'll start off with looks:

These two pictures are the only two that exist of the Bronco... the top image being the SHADOW, not the orange Escape-Based Ford Maverick. Every other image you see is a made-up fan rendering or the old prototype from 15 years ago. Ford has been INCREDIBLY tight-lipped about what it's going to look like, it is a complete skunkworks project. A very select few certain dealers have been shown a finalized Bronco prototype and "Those in the room said the SUV has a retro design, featuring a rectangular grille, round headlights and the word “Bronco” stamped across the front." A poster on the Bronco6g forum also just purported that "If you like the first-gen 1966-1977 Bronco you will not be disappointed. Rugged and retro is an understatement, it looks amazing and the Wrangler better be on high alert."

It will be a 2021 model year, not 2020. It was apparently never intended to be a 2020 model year, just that it was DEBUTING in 2020. The first ones will be rolling off the assembly line in late 2020 and in showrooms in early 2021. It was originally intended for a summer 2020 debut but it has been delayed a few months. The reason it seems so long is that UAW revealed the Bronco returning probably 2 years before Ford wanted to reveal it. Hence why it seems like such a long wait.

It will have V6 EcoBoost and 4 cylinder EcoBoost options. The hybrid system will likely be similar to the new Explorer, which offers pretty good performance with a 6 cylinder NA engine. Bronco may get a 4-cylinder with that hybrid system? This really isn't known. But a hybrid is guaranteed.

It will be the debut of the next-gen ranger platform. I think most people had thought prior to this new information that it was going to be on the T6 ranger platform, however, it sounds like the T6 cannot fit a V6 which is why they are debuting the new platform with the Bronco! So really the next-gen ranger will be based on the Bronco platform :)

The forum post confirms that it will have a 7-speed manual transmission, along with Jalopnik having an article about it... and also some new info that was in an article about the electric mustang crossover. Dave states that part of the "Ford Icon" program (Mustang, raptor, Bronco) they do intend to keep manual transmissions as a part of that legacy; I can only assume that's a hint towards the Bronco getting one!

It is going to have some serious off-road chops. It is not going to be a shitty crossover, it is going to be body on frame, with rear wheel drive, a real transfer case, and differential lockers. They are going to be trying to "Reclaim their rightful place as the off-road vehicle leader." which is a direct quote. Apparently they have been testing wrangler rubicons and are gunning for it in regards to performance off-road. This is supported by the test mule sporting 33” tires just like the wrangler rubicon, which is pretty darn big for a stock tire. In addition, It will have Dana axles however there has not yet been a leak about whether it will be solid front and rear or independent front/ solid rear. There were apparently prototypes for both, but I've heard whispers that it will be a solid front axle. Nothing to bet the mortgage on but a glimmer of hope for sure.

There will be both a 2-door and a 4-door. This is confirmed, the Ford-released picture is of the 2-door. We have also seen test mules for both 2 and 4 door.

It will have a removable roof and doors. This article also states that the bronco will have removable doors that fit in the cargo area, and that the mirrors don’t come off. Pretty sweet! Now we get into a bit of the speculative with this part... Ford has filed a LOT of patents that could relate to the Bronco. From quick-release doors and bumpers, to built-in tube doors with airbags, there is a lot. A lot of it will likely not come to fruition, but it sure shows they are thinking outside the box with this one! I'll link some of the patent articles here:

And last but not least... the debut. According to the Forums they just finalized the design in late 2018, and prototypes have been made with the final design and are being tested. They are under SUPER tight lock and key right now, with no spy shots allowed. Something that is detailed in the forum is that "spy shots" are 100% ok from the manufacturer, if they don't want people to see a vehicle then you won't see it. (Hence the Ford GT) So basically, Ford will not show it until they want to. Everything i've read has indicated prototypes will start showing up towards the end of the year with a possible EOY debut, or possibly early next year. Apparently there will be some teases leading up to the debut, but some Ford insiders have hinted it's coming sooner than we think.

The Fiat Chrysler car maker has finally given the much-needed redesign of the Grand Cherokee. The spy shots of this popular SUV show the new exterior styling. Precisely, the upcoming Jeep will look more conventional. The changes will include new headlamps, revised grille and some minor adjustments on the rear fascia. Inside, the Grand Cherokee is expected to remain pretty much unchanged. Under the hood, the Jeep should continue with the same engines as the current model which means that there will be several units available. The technology as well should be the same as in its forerunner.

Its main rivals will be Volkswagen Touareg, Land Rover Discovery. Ford Explorer and Toyota Forerunner.
