【車展同場加映】多連桿來襲、扭力樑依然撐得住！2020 Ford Focus ST-Line Lommel賽道特化版試駕實測！

不太確定這該說是多麼痛的領悟，又或者早買早享受、晚買享折扣之類的購物心得，在全新MK4世代Ford Focus國產化導入後其銷售成績確實有目共睹，連帶更殺的最速前驅車型Focus ST也隨即進口，只能說Ford此次真的透過Focus扳回一城，並連動其他車款，為品牌帶來高達24.5%的成長幅度！但也因此，先前的ST-Line車型由於是搭配扭力樑後懸吊，搞得好像有不少鄉民有那麼一點痛徹心扉，好似非多連桿不買帳一般，這也使得原廠乾脆加碼推出Focus ST-Line Lommel賽道特化版，想要多連桿嗎？想要的話可以全部給你，去買吧！我把多連桿都放回Focus上了！

所以如今打算入手Focus的車迷朋友們，在舊換新87.8萬的售價下，如今已不僅僅只是晚買能多點促銷優惠而已，印象中理應更加穩定的多連桿車型如今居然在2020台北車展之際直接販售，雖然這是否真會讓已率先購入的車迷們恨得牙癢癢還不得而知，但至少就動力配置上，不論是眼前的這款Lommel賽道特化版或是一般的ST-Line，皆清一色地配置1.5升直列3缸渦輪增壓汽油引擎，最大馬力182ps/6,000rpm，並且具備24.5kgm/1,600-4,500rpm的峰值扭力，變速箱也同樣採用8速手自排配置。此般已令人感到熟極而流的數據和動能輸出想必也無須多言，但因應新年式的緣故，不論是Lommel賽道特化版或ST-Line也皆在一些微乎其微的細節上進行很難發現的改變。

其一，譬如這位於前保桿的雷達感知器的塑膠外殼，原本上頭有著沿著左右隔線形塑而出的塑膠突起設計，但在新年式上原廠特別將此部份拿掉，不確定是因為原先的造型會影響雷達感知或其他因素，但這確實是在Lommel賽道特化版上發現的一項細節改變。

再者，在Lommel賽道特化版與一般ST-Line別無二致的內裝配置下，另一項微乎其微的調整在於門把料件。原先在其L型的造型上有著一道並不太深的斜向刻痕，如今在新年式上則是一體式呈現。只能說這些新舊年式的調整還真無須太過鉅細靡遺地講究，但既然發現了就據實以報唄！

但儘管如此，Ford ST-Line Lommel賽道特化版倒也為了更具競技本色，特別強化煞車的部份。前輪碟盤加大至308mm、卡鉗制動半徑達124mm；而後輪的部份則比照Focus ST車型來設計，302mm尺寸的碟盤並具備129mm的卡鉗制動半徑。值得一提的是，Lommel賽道特化版在延續ST-Line採用18吋輪圈的同時，配胎亦採尺寸235/40R18的Michelin Pilot Sport 4，這些細節相信也是對於該車型好奇的車迷們會特別著重的一���。

然車體尺碼全然未變的情況下，除了可以看到車尾多了Lommel的銘牌之外，眼尖一點便會發現尾燈亦更加亮眼的L型LED配置，不過這確實也得要夜晚時分才能見識到其光型方面的調整。只是既然檢視到車尾了，那麼自然也該趴下來瞧瞧該車型最大幅度的調整之處，也就是鄉民們敲碗以久的多連桿懸吊。

說真的，會想要配上比較貴的玩意確實是人之常情，不諱言地說屬於獨立懸吊的多連桿正因為結構較為複雜，自然得耗費較高的成本才能打造。也因此在這四連桿式的配置下比起一般ST-Line車型，與Lommel賽道特化版之間的價差莫約是落在3萬元左右，而除了獲得理論上更加扎實的後軸表現外，加上煞車的調整總共額外奉送近30kg的重量。所以這到底是否划算呢？某方面來說還真取決於車主個人的心態和駕駛方式及環境。

事實上在Ford Focus ST-Line Lommel賽道特化版於2020台北車展正式發表前，咱們和眾家媒體便已經在六福村一帶進行了由原廠安排的繞錐和麋鹿測試，加上於發表之後更特別商借車輛進行一般道路實測，平心而論或多或少還真有些試駕心得。不可否認的是，擁有多連桿配置的Lommel賽道特化版確實具備更加顯著的後軸穩定度，但比照繞錐和一般道路駕駛，必須在相當的條件下才會有所差異。

首要來說，現行的ST-Line其扭力樑配置確實調校得可圈可點，包含鋼材用料乃至實際道路表現，甚至奔上賽道都能發揮相當的水準，甚至在操控上都還令駕駛無太多後顧之憂。也因此配置扭力樑的ST-Line和採多連桿的Lommel賽道特化版其差異咱們必須承認確實是微乎其微，直至繞錐實測時，才多少感到後軸有著更高的貼地穩定性，在連續繞錐這種極端的情況下與地面產生的沾黏感使得駕駛多少會認為好像真的不太一樣。

而在基於後軸改變後更換避震配置下，能夠理解的是其筒身跟彈簧的基礎設定卻也維持在同樣的水準，因此換來的側傾和支撐感平心而論並未有太大的差異，可這也使得這兩款車在包含方向機設定如出一轍的情況下，Lommel賽道特化版或許在小角度連續切換時能夠更加從容，但此般差異所佔的百分比應該不會太高。

也因此在闖入麋鹿測試後，Lommel賽道特化版雖然能在時速80km/h下輕鬆反應過關，但平心而論除非要面對以上這些較偏向極端的駕駛條件，否則現行ST-Line其實就已經能滿足一般使用者的需求。即便是咱們後來商借Lommel賽道特化版進行一般道路試駕，在雨天之際小跑了一趟山路，都還是認為就算是ST-Line在面對這樣的情況其表現也還會具備一定的水準，唯可能在多連桿加持下Lommel賽道特化版會給予駕駛多那麼幾分的安心感，反應在方向盤上就是給予了更多的穩定和自信。

只是撇開懸吊的部份，Lommel賽道特化版另一點讓人倍感驚喜的是，怎麼聲浪表現比起ST-Line更加明顯？在理論上進排氣未進行顯著調整下，這款特仕車型還真的比想像中還更具賽道意味，只是在原廠尚未解析當中因由下，咱們也只說這聲浪還真的變得更加澎湃啊！

平心而論，多連桿也好、扭力樑也罷，Ford此次在打造Focus系列時不論是實質的駕馭表現，或者是連Level2等級都如實奉上的Co-Pilot 360之主動安全配備，整體來看早已是滿到溢出來的程度。因此在面對Lommel賽道特化版，咱們能提供的考量切點，無非就是這款車適合操控要求要在ST-Line以上、但預算或性能需求未滿Focus ST的族群；其次則是在長期駕駛後，作為固定不可調的扭力樑配置，或多或少在行經顛簸路面、坑洞，又或者停個車後輪稍微碰撞到人行道時，久而久之累積的形變在日後換胎定位時可能較難調整回歸為原廠數值，但多連桿配置在這方面相對比較有調整的空間，但真要開到這種程度，通常也得認真開個較高的里程才會遇到唷！

2020 Ford Bronco Scout/Adventurer: Everything We Know

International Harvester introduced its Scout SUV five years before the launch of the 1966 Ford Bronco. So it almost seems fitting that Ford’s new, rugged-looking Escape-based Bronco Scout—which may actually end up being called the Ford Adventurer—will launch before the highly anticipated Ranger-based Bronco. Shown here are artist’s renderings of what we think it will look like.

The smaller off-road SUV will be billed as the off-road antidote to the 2020 Escape, which itself has been redesigned to look like a tall Focus wagon. Word is the Adventurer/Bronco Scout chassis is being tuned for trail traction in order for it to compete with the likes of Jeep’s unibody, transverse-engine models (Cherokee, Compass, Renegade), though size-wise, the small Ford will compete most directly with the Compass.

  Engine choices will mimic what’s available for the new Escape, from a 1.5-liter EcoBoost inline-three with 180 horsepower and 177 lb-ft to a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder with 250 horsepower and 275 lb-ft, plus two hybrids—a conventional hybrid and a plug-in-hybrid option—both coupled to a 2.5-liter Atkinson cycle four. Cargo capacity should also be similar to that of the new Escape, which has 38 cubic feet of space behind the second row (34 in the hybrids) and 65 cubic feet behind the first row (61 in the hybrids).

Ford is targeting the iconic Jeep Wrangler with its new-age body-on-frame Bronco and is planning two- and four-door versions to battle the Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited. We’re hearing that the Bronco will come with an independent front suspension and a solid Dana rear axle, and Ford has patented both a removable/retractable roof and a take on removable doors that have tube doors hidden inside. We also learned that the company is planning a Bronco pickup truck to battle the Jeep Gladiator.

The Bronco is expected to launch with the Ranger’s 270-hp, 310-lb-ft 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbo-four paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. A hybrid model, likely with a version of the Explorer’s 3.3-liter Atkinson cycle V-6 with a 1.5-kW-hr lithium-ion battery pack, is also in the pipeline.

  After the initial launch in the fourth quarter of next year (the Bronco will be built at the same Michigan Assembly Plant as the Ranger), Ford is expected to offer a variant of its 2.7-liter twin-turbo V-6 making about 350 horsepower and as much as 400 lb-ft of torque as part of the Bronco’s powertrain mix. It’s uncertain whether Ford will name it the Bronco Raptor or Bronco ST, although an all-new Ranger, due in the 2023 model year, will also be offered with the engine and the Raptor name.

Aside from Shelby Mustangs and other pony-car variants, Ford Performance is relegated to Raptor variations of pickups and ST models of SUVs. Following on the heels of the new base Explorer after it goes on sale this fall will be the 2020 Explorer ST, powered by Ford’s 400-hp, 415-lb-ft 3.0-liter twin-turbo V-6 mated to a 10-speed automatic and rolling on 21-inch wheels. Within a couple of years, an all-new Edge will migrate to the Explorer’s rear-drive platform and get the same ST performance engine. Despite the big wheels with their heavy unsprung weight, the Explorer ST doesn’t have the harsh ride and overly quick steering of some performance sport utilities, as we discovered during our first drive; rather, enthusiasts will appreciate the difference in the ST’s dynamics compared with other Explorers.

Save your New Year’s resolutions for spring

Instead of chasing your holiday cheer with New Year’s resolutions, consider waiting a few months.

People tend to see resolutions as black or white, forgetting that change is incremental; being “happier” is a better resolution than being “happy,” for instance, says Tim Bono, lecturer in psychological and brain sciences at Washington University in St. Louis.

A lack of flexibility often means that after one slip-up—skipping a run because it’s raining, or only drinking seven glasses of water instead of eight—people give up entirely.

When it comes to the practice of setting new goals for the year ahead, however, there’s one problem that Bono can’t help with. One that can only be overcome with a cultural shift, a radical change in the way we view this time-honored tradition: Winter can be a real downer.

“Maybe we need to disabuse ourselves of the idea that January 1 is the best time to make resolutions,” he says, offering up a new tradition: Spring renewal.

New Year’s resolutions vs. Spring renewal

“January is probably the hardest month of the year to change behaviors,” says Bono, who is also assistant dean for assessment in Student Affairs.

In much of the country, the weather can be prohibiting. “If your goal is, say, to run five miles a day in Forest Park,” Bono says, “well, there’s going to be cold weather and snow to contend with.”

The weather also means people are more likely to stay cooped up, missing out on a support system to help them stay on top of their goals.

Another obstacle: Coming out of the holiday season leaves many people exhausted as they head back to regular schedules. There’s also somewhat of a post-holiday slump, Bono says.

“It’s the same thing that people experience the week after their vacation or the week after their wedding or anything else where there’s been a lot of anticipation. Anticipation itself is pleasurable,” he says. “There’s a huge body of psychological research that has shown that half the fun of a vacation is having something to look forward to.

“There’s usually not that much planned in the early months of the year. When there’s not as much to look forward to, our spirits are usually lower. That can translate to less motivation to stay on task toward new initiatives,” he says.

Consider that spring sunlight

Even someone living in a warm region with a jam-packed social calendar will find themselves fighting an uphill battle with New Year’s resolutions, though. That’s because the biggest impediment to a successful resolution may be the short days of winter.

“We tend to underestimate just how much sunlight impacts us,” Bono says. “The early days of January are among the shortest of the entire year.”

Many studies have looked at the relationship between weather, specifically sunlight, and mood.

“We know that when sunlight enters the visual system, it activates neural circuits that are associated with a number of psychological states,” Bono says. “For some people, when they leave home for work it’s dark, and when they get home at the end of the day it’s dark. Such limited exposure to direct sunlight this time of year can take a heavy toll on our overall well-being and energy levels.”

Harsh weather. Fatigue. Post-holiday slump. Lack of sunlight. Not to mention colds, the flu, and other bugs that go around in the winter.

“All of those things affect motivation,” Bono says. “And then we say, ‘I’m going to make progress toward all of these new goals,’ when there are so many forces working against us?

“Really,” Bono says, “the optimal time for resolutions is spring or summer.”

Spring has always been a time for new beginnings. Hibernating animals wake; the thawed soil and heavy rains beget sprouting plants. Why not use this time for a self-renewal instead of the dead of winter?

“It’s the same reason why you don’t plant new seeds in January,” Bono says. “It’s all about aligning the behavior to the environment most likely to promote those behaviors, and be fertile for them to grow and develop.”

Do what works for you

To be sure, any time is a good time to work toward improving yourself, Bono says. “If you’ve set past New Year’s resolutions in January and that has worked for you, go for it.”

For some people, January is their preferred time to make resolutions because they find that having fewer events or social engagements provides the time and space they need to focus on themselves. If that’s you, there’s no reason to hold off.

But a large number of people who aim for such aspirations in January quickly fall off the wagon.

“And if that turns out to be you in 2020, just remember all that’s working against you this time of year,” Bono says. “There’s nothing wrong with postponing a few months and trying again when the environmental circumstances will be a bit more conducive to working toward your goals.”
