After seeing the fun fact about Becoming Potatoes, I now wonder how far back does the process of one event is from conceptualizing it to fully releasing it. Is it months? Years? I know development and planning can be long but how far back are things planned for Proseka's events in spesifics.

i have an extra fun fact about that song that i don't think i've mentioned before: it's the only song to never have a teaser before it's released in-game, probably because there was no point in it since the vocaloid version had been released months prior. annoyingly, neru never did a corocoro producer interview, so it's basically impossible for us to know what exactly went down in the development of that song.

here's some stuff i can tell you about event planning and such (most is song related lol bc there's far less interviews with the writers):

in an old Q&A around the 1st anniversary, the writers said it takes around 6-12 months to complete an event after conception

in the same question, they said they immediately have to prepare a summary after commissioning so they can pass it on, suggesting the commissioning stage comes first

i know i usually don't mention leaks but these aren't leaks anymore. back in early 2023 around the time of Little Bravers, the song titles and producers for commissions up until Samsa leaked. The producers for Hug and Regulus also leaked 1-2 months in advance. p sure there used to be a staff leaker LOL but at least they confirmed the comms are finished a fair amount in advance

for early events though, some accounts make it sound like vocaPs were being commissioned like years in advance. PinocchioP, Oster Project, NayutalieN did not receive a story summary.

NayutalieN also said that he was contacted very early on in development, only being shown character designs for MMJ. He literally says that "nothing had been decided and he was fed more details as they were finalised". and later in his interview mentions that the "omoi no kakera" lyric was not an intentional reference [to what is known as wish pieces on EN], since those didn't even exist yet.

Syudou says that Jackpot Sad Girl was made in 2020, not very long before the launch of the game, so there's a little less time there.

Surii said he was commissioned ~6 months before launch, so around a year before Pale Color ran. It's also worth noting that he was given story details at this point in time, meaning Pino/Oster/NayutalieN were commissioned before this point.

The designs were completed in early 2019 according to CGWorld's prsk feature, so we can assume that the vocaPs who weren't given story details were commissioned around this time

The story has a planned ending and has had this since early development. The overall story has always been decided but only as an outline, more specific details and the actual events are written as the game goes one.

However certain details, such as Mafuyu running away, were planned in advance.

Apparently it takes about a week to get to the final draft of an event story, after going through checks with other staff and re-drafting (same source as the "specific details" link)

Additionally: card art. According to that 1st anniversary q&a i mentioned earlier, the art team takes two months or more per card. might be longer now because of the higher art quality. The art team sometimes bases set themes off the commission (such as Hitsuji ga Ippiki & kiuan set), or off the event story, which again gives us an indicator of how far in advance this stuff is finished.

Amazon MGM Studios is developing the YA novel “The Loneliest Girl in the Universe” as a feature film.

Joe Roth and Jeffrey Kirschenbaum (“Anyone but You,” “Fast X,” the upcoming “Jackpot”) will produce the film alongside Katherine Langford, best known for starring in Netflix’s hit YA series “13 Reasons Why”; Seldy Gray will oversee development for Roth Kirschenbaum Films.

The project is in early development at the studio with Sarah Conradt-Kroehler writing the script, from a treatment by Gary Dauberman.

The Loneliest Girl in the Universe was first published in 2017. It was nominated for the 2019 Carnegie medal, named one of Barnes & Noble’s Top 15 YA Books of 2018, and shortlisted for the STEAM Children’s Book Prize 2019.

Romy Silvers is the only surviving crew-member of a spaceship travelling to a new planet, on a mission to establish a second home for humanity. Alone in space, she is the loneliest girl in the universe until she hears about a new ship which has launched from Earth with a single passenger on board. A boy called J.

Their only communication is via email and due to the distance between them, their messages take months to transmit. And yet Romy finds herself falling in love.

But what does Romy really know about J? And what do the mysterious messages which have started arriving from Earth really mean?

Sometimes, there’s something worse than being alone…

I’ve been holding onto this secret for four long years, so I’m beyond thrilled to finally be able to share it.

The production company, Roth/Kirschenbaum, made Damsel (Milly Bobby Brown/Netflix), Anyone but You (Sydney Sweeney/Glen Powell), The School for Good and Evil (Paul Feig/Netflix), Fast X (Vin Diesel) and The Gray Man (Ryan Gosling), so Romy is in very, very good hands indeed.

A movie deal is, obviously, a dream come true. It’s not something I ever thought would happen to me. I feel lucky enough to get to keep writing new books, let alone for someone to make an adaptation of something that came out of my brain.

The Loneliest Girl in the Universe is a very special story to me. I wrote it when I was 22, fresh out of a physics degree. On the surface, it was inspired by some of the physics I’d learnt about deep space travel at university, but mainly it was propelled by the complicated feelings I had about technically being an ‘adult’ while really just feeling like a naiive kid. It was about internet dating, and fandom as a form of self expression, and my complicated relationship with girlhood (as someone who no longer really identifies as a ‘girl’).

Romy is one of the most precious character I’ve ever created. I poured so much of myself into her personality; her insecurities; her flaws and strengths. So many readers respond to her vulnerability (and mine) with deep love. People have told me that they would die for Romy. That she’s their favourite fictional character of all time. That she’s helped them process so much of their own anxiety, trauma and imposter syndrome. That she’s a role model for girls who are deciding to study science at university. As a writer, it’s the biggest honour to have created someone who feels so real and important to so many people.

I can’t wait for Romy to reach a whole new audience on screen through Amazon MGM Studios. The team at R/K have a very clear vision for Romy’s story, and so much respect for her journey as a character. I’m very excited to see what they create.

I have some experience of the TV industry in UK through my work in the Heartstopper writer’s room as story consultant, but movies and Hollywood are obviously a whole new ballgame. I’m excited and nervous to learn more!

Orville Peck, Nikki Lane & Vincent Neil Emerson – The Met – Philadelphia, PA – October 18, 2024

It was a fantastic night for Philly country and Americana music fans because Orville Peck made the ninth stop on his Stampede Tour at the Met. Along with Peck, incredible country acts Nikki Lane and Vincent Neil Emerson lit up the Met stage.

The first act of the night to take the stage was Vincent Neil Emerson. Emerson released his first album in 2019 and has gone on to release two records since then, each one as incredible, if not better, than the last. As soon as he and his band began playing, the room filled with excited energy. Emerson played hits including “25 & Waistin’ Time,” “Road Runner,” and “Hang Your Head Down Low.” It was such a treat to see an opening act light up the room like Emerson and his widely talented band did.

Up next was Nikki Lane, and boy, was her set electric. The vibes instantly shifted when she took the stage. The amount of confidence and talent that Lane exudes is immeasurable. She played a good mix of older and newer songs including “Try Harder,” “Denim & Diamonds,” “Jackpot,” and “Send The Sun.” If you’re a country music fan and haven’t checked out Nikki or Vincent’s music before, I highly recommend both of their discographies.

After Nikki’s set, it was finally time for the man himself, Orville Peck, to take center stage. The lights went down as Bob Dylan’s “All the Tired Horses” began to play, and the Met erupted with jubilation and excitement. Peck and his band stepped on stage and played the first track of their set “Big Sky,” from Peck’s 2019 debut studio album Pony. He kept the Pony vibes going with the next song “Turn to Hate.”

The feelings at an Orville Peck show are easily the most positive and accepting that I may have ever experienced. Although the demographic was varied, everyone came together to celebrate country music with their favorite artist. The Met was filled with kindness, acceptance, and appreciation. It was incredible.

Up next, Peck sang “The Hurtin’ Kind” from his latest album Stampede, followed by “C’mon Baby, Cry” from my personal favorite album of his, Bronco. After performing “No Glory in the West,” Peck began opening up about his mental health, sharing that these shows are some of the first back after taking time off to take care of himself. He went on to share that he’s now “happier and healthier” and he’s been “in his whole life.” After stating that this is one of his favorite songs from Bronco, Peck began to play “Hexie Mountains.” Fans came together to express the love they have for the song by singing the lyrics word for word back to Peck. It was a beautiful experience.

The rest of the set was a great mix of songs for OG Orville Peck fans as well as new, featuring hits recent and old including “Dead of Night,” “Daytona Sand,” “Bronco,” “Old River,” and more. If you get the chance to see Peck on this tour or any in the future, do it. You will have an amazing time, hear some amazing music, and have a night you won’t forget.

We got lucky and caught the ear of desert recording guru, Matt Rendon (The Resonars, and as of 2021, the fourth Exbat!) and we put out our first tape in 2017. In 2019 we hit the jackpot again attracting Bobby Carleson Jr. on bass. Our latest record for Goner Records is the hyper-catchy sunshine-pop inspired Now Where Were We. It’s our favorite set of songs yet. We have evolved to the point where we are basically oblivious to modern recording trends, but the lyrics do a decent job reflecting very modern concerns. We live in Bisbee, Arizona. It’s way down in the south-east corner of the state by the Mexico border. It’s a sweet little arty hippy town. Come say hi! -inez and kenny mclain. The Exbats are Inez, Kenny, Bobby and Matt. And they are all a little worried but enjoy making songs.

Painted Air was joined in 2008 by French organ goddess Organella (Curlee Wurlee!), whose saturated Vox organ finished to polish the sound of their brandnew album “Come on 69”. She was recently replaced by Czerno from the band “Rock’n’Roll Hotel”, who makes the sound even more evil! “Come on 69” was recorded analogue and under live conditions in April and June 2008, and mixed in December 2008 by Dennis Rux (Trashmonkeys) at Hörwerk Studio near Bremen, and will be released by Green Cookie Records from Greece.
