Frank Lampard has been named the new head coach of Coventry City, a new chapter in the celebrated former England midfielder's managerial career. Lampard, who has agreed to a two-and-a-half-year deal, replaces Mark Robins, who was dismissed after leading the team for seven years. The Sky Blues, currently 17th in the Championship and only two points clear of relegation, will look to Lampard to steer them clear of danger and into calmer waters. Lampard's appointment follows a period of uncertainty for Coventry, whose new owner, Doug King, completed the takeover of the club in January 2023, making this his first managerial appointment. At 46, Lampard comes into this role with considerable experience but mixed results in his recent managerial stints. This will be his fifth managerial job after serving at Derby County, Chelsea, in two separate terms, and Everton. Brian Minkoff London-Pixels, CC BY-SA 4.0 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0, via Wikimedia Commons After his short stint as caretaker manager at Chelsea in 2023, Lampard had stepped away from the nitty-gritty of club football and spent time in the media. But the temptation of management has been too great, and he is keen to bring his experience to Coventry. His first game in charge will be at home against Cardiff City on Saturday, a must-win game as the club looks to turn its fortunes around. Lampard has been welcomed with optimism by the camp of Coventry, as confirmed by Doug King, who commented on his excitement about this new appointment. "I am delighted that Frank Lampard has agreed to join our club as head coach," said King. "Frank cut his teeth in the Championship and knows what is needed in this league to be successful.". His experiences thereafter at Chelsea and Everton will ensure he brings to our talented squad clear understanding of exactly what is needed to succeed at the very top level that we as a club are striving to reach." Lampard is the son of former West Ham United legend Frank Lampard Sr. He grew up in a footballing family. His uncle is ex-West Ham manager Harry Redknapp, another great influence on the sport. Lampard's own football career was started with a loan to Swansea City in 1995, and by the time he was 17, he had made his first-team debut for West Ham, ironically playing against Coventry. It was then that he had his career-defining transfer to Chelsea for £11 million in 2001. During over 13 years at Stamford Bridge, Lampard left the club as the top scorer of all time with 211 goals, besides winning 11 major titles. He stepped into his managerial career post-retirement in 2017 when he started off with Derby County in the Championship. Under his leadership, Derby County reached the play-off final in 2019 and lost to Aston Villa. That achievement sealed his return to Chelsea; he was given the post in 2019 and had a successful debut, with Chelsea finishing at the fourth rung of the Premier League and was highly praised for gifting the first-team place to Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount, and Reece James. However, despite having a healthy win percentage of 52%, Lampard was sacked in January 2021 due to the lack of major trophies under his leadership, with the club bringing Thomas Tuchel. Lampard's second managerial position was at Everton in January 2022. He ensured the team did not get relegated that season but was sacked after just over a year when the results went badly for the team, being dismissed in January 2023. He then returned to Chelsea as an interim manager but struggled there too, winning only one of his 11 games, which resulted in another early departure. As he takes on this new challenge at Coventry, Lampard will have to hit the ground running, especially with the team in such a precarious position in the Championship. The team has shown signs of underachievement this season, and Lampard will need to address this fast, especially with the next transfer window on the horizon. His experience in the Championship at Derby may prove priceless and invaluable in navigating the minefield of second-tier football, where consistency and strategic acumen are key. On BBC CWR, sports editor Rob Gurney had an analysis on this: "Lampard is a highly-profile move for the club". He said that though the appointment may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it is sure to get some eyeballs on the club as Lampard's is a big name in the football world. "His profile is just what the owner wants—bringing the name of Coventry City Football Club into the psyche of people outside the game," Gurney said. "Now Lampard has to find a way to unlock the potential in this squad, taking them beyond where Mark Robins could." Lampard also needs to set his priorities in terms of tactics and personnel. The transfer window will come at a crucial time for Coventry, as they look to strengthen their squad and get away from the relegation zone. But there is little doubt that Lampard's reputation and connections in the football world will allow him to attract talent that could really make a difference. It's a fresh start for both the manager and the club with Frank Lampard appointed at Coventry City. There is this excitement that comes with his return to management, but then it also rings a reality, in that in such a tight competition as the Championship is, it is the result that will matter. The Coventry fans will be hoping that Lampard's experience and passion can lead them to safety and beyond, back to the upper echelons of English football. Only time will tell if Lampard can work his magic and return the Sky Blues to the heights they aspire to reach. Read the full article

DISCLAIMER:  harley quinn, in my opinion,  is the story of a victim of domestic abuse who takes back her life and comes out the other-side changed.  the joker and harley is not a ship, but a past relationship that is important to her character. if i see any harley x joker shit,  i will be hardblocking you and reporting you to a governmental agency so you can be put on a watchlist.
BRIEF BIOGRAPHY:
NAME: harleen quinzell, harley quinn.
AGE: late twenties-mid thirties.
FACECLAIM: julia garner.
GENDER & SEXUALITY: nonbinary, presents femme. happily uses she/they pronouns. bisexual.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTORS: short / muscular build. about 5'5. stark white skin with a greenish tint. white hair that is often dyed over. acrylic nails done at home, generally one or two broken ones. can be seen wearing colorful make-up with drag leanings most days.
STORYLINE:
harley quinn (born harleen quinzel) is a former childhood gymnast, current outlaw, and life-long anti-hero. she was once a licensed psychiatrist at the arkham asylum. her romantic relationship with her patient, the joker, leads to her being fired from the job. alienated from her former life, harleen becomes obsessed with the joker and willingly participates in his criminal escapades as his self-proclaimed side-kick. the two are involved in a scheme gone-wrong that ends with harleen falling into a vat of dangerous chemicals. her entire body is bleached to an unnatural off-white, and she is imbued with superhuman powers. harleen begins going by harley quinn.
over the course of several years, the joker gaslights and verbally abuses harley, using her trust and obsession with him as a means to motivate her to act in his favor. she frequents gotham jails and hospitals and spends time in the arkham asylum as a patient. an year long stay in the asylum leads her to realize the joker would not come and save her like he said. he does not love her, but utilizes her devotion. this is an awful realization that makes her look back on the past few years without rose-colored glasses.
harley breaks out of the asylum and begins to take her life back, re-introducing herself to the world as an independent name. she now spends her time caring for her highly illegal pet hyenas, kicking ass at the roller derby, and committing high crimes and misdemeanors.
INSPIRATION:
my harley is inspired by amanda conner and jimmy palmiotti’s HARLEY QUINN run,  BIRDS OF PREY AND THE FANTABULOUS EMANCIPATION OF HARLEY QUINN (2020) [i know. i’m sorry.], HARLEY QUINN: T HE ANIMATED SERIES (2019), and a random assortment of gotham city siren comics i read when i was twelve.
i have loved harley quinn most of my life; however, i would say she is consistently written terribly and to fulfill weird misogynistic fantasies. there are so many comics and cartoons that piss me off so bad i don’t want to talk about it.  i love her personal style, her bold outrageousness, her stupid new york accent. i love that she left her ugly boyfriend and got romantically involved with an anti-capitalist lesbian terrorist. she deserves to be portrayed with respect for her past and her current sexuality.

The Academy Which Doesn't Stop
By Ryan Watson
Tumblr media
In the rich history of football, the use of academies has produced some of the greatest players and teams, like the Class of 92 and La Masia, who went on to become some of the biggest stars in the history of the sport. During the last decade, we have seen academies being used less and less with billions being pumped into the football economy to buy the best overseas talent. At one club, this hasn't changed.
Based in the south of Cheshire, Crewe Alexandra is a football club which has a philosophy focused on bringing through their own to achieve success. Some of the players who have been brought through at Gresty Road are Ashley Westwood, Danny Murphy and David Platt who went on to captain England during Euro 1992.
Focusing on the current day, The Railwaymen has had 21 players play for the first team this season across all competitions which have been brought through the academy. Nine of these players have played at least ten games for the first team in their league campaign showing the constant involvement of academy produce.
This hasn’t hampered the Reds, they have qualified for the playoffs by finishing 6th and aiming for promotion back to League One after they were relegated from the third tier just under four years ago.
The Railwaymen also caused huge upsets in domestic competitions defeating Championship side Sunderland at the Stadium of Light by penalty kicks. Pride Park, the home of Derby was another ground Crewe were victorious at in the FA Cup.
Tumblr media
The Academy has also achieved success this year managed by a mixture of Mike Jackson and Kenny Lunt. In domestic competitions by reaching the third round of the FA Youth Cup and being defeated away at Arsenal to end the run. In the local FA ran competition, Crewe has played young academy prospects as they fight for senior contracts next season and have cruised to the Cheshire Senior Cup final beating Macclesfield, Barnton and Vauxhall Motors.
The academy team fell short in the final as they were defeated on penalties against Hyde United after drawing 2-2 in normal time.
Tumblr media
Football academies in England are ranked into categories with the top development academies such as Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United ranked in CAT 1.
Crewe's Academy is ranked in CAT 2 as one of just two teams from League Two who are in the category. Other teams with academies at this level consist of Burnley, Sheffield United and Watford.
Over the past five years, Crewe has had several players who have joined Championship clubs and become key players for the second-tier outfits.
Perry Ng and Ryan Wintle joined Cardiff City after showcasing their quality for the Railwaymen during their promotion to League One in 2019/20 after the season was stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They have both captained the Bluebirds since their arrival in Wales.
Harry Pickering joined Blackburn Rovers for an undisclosed fee in February 2021. The Chester-born left-back has made over 100 league appearances for Rovers since he left Gresty Road.
Tumblr media
In the current 2023-24 season, The Reds completed another sale of an academy graduate in Connor O'Riordan.
O'Riordan followed in the footsteps of Harry Pickering and joined Blackburn Rovers in the final days of the January transfer window after his release clause was activated to leave the football club for an undisclosed fee.
O'Riordan played 27 games for the Alex until his move and was called up to the Ireland Under-21s and played two games for his country.
Tumblr media
In an interview with, academy manager Aidan Callan he said: "The challenge is now for us to produce the next Connor. That work never stops and we can’t stand still"
"We are in a good shape. All age groups have top players, alongside strengths and weaknesses.
"We have lots of players who have come through this season, a few have come in and settled, and a few have had a little taste of the first team.
"This is why, it is important for our job to keep working with these players to help development and make sure they are ready for more first-team football.
"We communicate a lot with Lee (Bell) and Ryan (Dicker) due to the surroundings of the building. They both came through the same academy coaching.
"They know lots of the young players coming through having coached them at younger ages. That is a massive part of the club culture and it helps the handover of academy players into the first team."
Tumblr media
Lee Bell was nominated for League Two Manager of the Season for this season. Crewe was predicted by most pundits and supporters to finish towards the bottom end of the table.
The Railwaymen lost top goalscorer Dan Agyei in the summer alongside Rob McDonald and Kelvin Mellor.
Bell trusted faith in his academy yet again, giving opportunities to Joel Tabiner, Tom Booth, Lewis Billington and Matus Holicek who have repaid the faith restored in them.
All four academy graduates have been rewarded with long-term deals which could see them stay at the club until 2026.
Tumblr media
The EFL nominated Crewe youngster and academy talent Calum Agius for League Two Apprentice of the Season.
Agius signed a three-year contract back in September with an option for an extra two years.
Agius has impressed since signing the deal, making a handful of appearances on the bench for Crewe this season. In the Professional Development League 2, Agius has scored nine goals in seven appearances alongside impressing in the Cheshire Senior Cup and the Papa John's Trophy against the likes of Port Vale and Wrexham.
The 18-year-old has been called up for the Welsh Under-19s ahead of their qualifying campaign for the Under-19s European Championship last June.
The work done here at Reaseheath will continue to happen over the next decades. With plenty more talented players being created and made at Gresty Road for the future.
With lots of experience bodies, in coaching, scouting and academy management will make sure Crewe are in safe hands for years to come.
For the latest updates on all of Crewe's recent news and latest updates follow them on X.

THE ROARING 20'S
The 1920's were a decade of luxury and indulgence for many; however, there was a lot more to it than just wall street and flapper dresses.
FASHION OF THE 20'S
Fashion in the 20's consisted of a lot of things. The main fashion statement of the 20's was the liberation of the corset, a very different thing from the past hundreds of years. As women were now starting to gain more rights thanks to the suffrage movement, many women did not want to be limited by the rigid corsetry of the Victorian era.
Following the movement of more fredom of clothes in the 1920s, the sillouhette generally moved away from the hourglass steriotypical. Up until this point in history, many people now prefer a dropped wait line due to its versatility to different body shapes as it made everyone look great, as well as a shorter hem. This also allowed much more freedom for movement as women found they could now dance more freely as well as play many more sports. however just because these dresses were simple it does not mean they wasn't beautiful many techniques were used to create different effects which look absolutely gorgeous
Headware and hair also changed dramatically in the 1920s. Many people opted to wear hats such as chloche hats and bobbed hairstyles. This, I believe, came mostly from the insporation of La Garconne, the bachelorette, who went against almost all society standards of the previous era, getting pregnant out of wedlock, cutting her hair short, and wearing stereotypically manly clothes.
on this website it lists many other fashion trends of the 1920s in more depth.
youtube
Also in this video is shown some of the main fashion trends with more visually shown element's.
SUFFERAGETTES
The suffering movement started in 1840 and ended in 1920, but it really picked up the pace in the early 1900s. The suffrage movement was a movement by women for women focusing on gaining more rights, in particular the right to vote.
A lot of traction for the women's rights movement came from WWI. This was because many women didn't have roles in the workplace, such as factories, etc., so when all the men were away at work, the women were needed to help run things back home while the men were at home. So when the war came to an end, many women decided that they didn't want to go back to their old lives where they depended on their husbands and, in fact, wanted to build a life for themselves and gain independence.
One of the most famous suffrage protests was at the 1913 Epsom Derby. On this day, while the horses were racing, Emily Davison threw herself in front of King George's horse, Ammer. It is unclear whether Emily intended for the horse to hit her or for the horse to stop in another part of gaining attention for the rights, but either way, this was a tragic day and made many more people fight for women's rights, and women took a lot more seriously due to the public seeing the places they are willing to go to to get their rights.

In this video it shows the tragedy of which happened to suffragette Emily Davidson

this is another video which describes the acts of the suffragettes.

'...our Gold Derby combined odds had “Dune: Part Two” in sixth for best picture, fifth in director, and fifth in adapted screenplay, with stars Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya as longshots for acting nominations and below-the-line categories not yet available on the site. Now that the flick is out of the running, it begs the question: which films stand to gain the most from “Dune Two’s” departure from the 2024 Oscar race?
The easiest answer is “Oppenheimer,” which was poised to be “Dune 2’s” direct competitor in the tech categories. The Christopher Nolan biopic is surely in the running for each of the categories previously won by “Dune,” especially sound, score and editing. Sound seems like one category that has become a one-horse race after “Dune’s delay, while Ludwig Göransson no longer needs to compete with two-time winner Hans Zimmer in score. Film editing, on the other hand, will still likely be a tight race between “Oppenheimer” and Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon,” but at least they won’t have to compete with Joe Walker, who returned for the sequel after his Oscar win for “Dune.” Similarly, best director will now likely be awarded to Nolan or Scorsese...
One category which already seemed locked for “Dune Two” was visual effects, especially since the other big tech player this year, “Oppenheimer,” famously uses a limited amount of CGI (the Trinity explosion effect is said to have been shot practically). Now that the sci-fi epic has been delayed, the category seems completely wide open. Will “Oppenheimer’s use of practical effects appeal to Oscar voters? After all, three of Nolan’s previous films have won this category. A win here for “Oppenheimer” would be akin to when “First Man,” another dialogue-driven drama biopic with few VFX-heavy scenes, took home the award in 2019...'

Mets and Yankees Get Only Three All-Star Selections
Tumblr media
The Mets and the Yankees have the two largest payrolls in Major League Baseball, with more than $600 million in combined player salaries, according to Spotrac. Luxury tax bills, which will be finalized later this year, will push the combined number well over $700 million. For all of that money, the teams had a total of three players selected to the rosters of this year’s All-Star Game, which were announced on Sunday night. Pitcher Gerrit Cole and the injured outfielder Aaron Judge will represent the Yankees at the game in Seattle on July 11. First baseman Pete Alonso will represent the Mets.Last year, with both teams thriving, they combined for 10 All-Star selections. The Yankees, who are 46-38 and currently in position for the American League’s third wild-card spot in the playoffs, have had at least one player appear in 90 of the 92 All-Star Games, which have been held since 1933. But because of injuries and rest, it remains an open question if they will have anyone participate in this year’s game.Judge, who was elected as a starter for the A.L., has 19 home runs but has been limited to 49 games because of a toe injury that will keep him out indefinitely. Cole, who is having a stellar season with a 2.79 E.R.A., pitched Sunday, and would normally pitch next on Friday, leaving him a day short of his normal rest. But with Carlos Rodón expected to come off the injured list to start Friday’s game, Cole could move to Saturday, giving him even less time to recover before the All-Star Game.Despite the rest issue, Cole talked as if he intended to play in the game.“One of these days, I would really like to start it,” Cole told reporters over the weekend. “I’ve got to check that one off. I’m not sure how that shakes out over the next week. I know there’s a lot of deserving guys out there.”His competition to start would include the former Yankee Nathan Eovaldi, who is thriving for the Texas Rangers, and Shohei Ohtani, the two-way superstar of the Los Angeles Angels who started for the A.L. last year. For the Mets, who have been a colossal disappointment at 38-46 despite their record payroll, Alonso is a reasonable choice as their lone representative. His .221 batting average is the worst of his career, and he trails outfielder Brandon Nimmo and shortstop Francisco Lindor for the team’s lead in wins above replacement, but his 25 home runs are second in the National League to Matt Olson of the Atlanta Braves.Additionally, Alonso announced that he would participate next Monday in the Home Run Derby, an event he has dominated in the past. He won the derby in 2019 and 2021 and was a quarterfinalist last year. While the formats change from year to year, making comparisons difficult, his 174 home runs in three contests are the most combined homers in the event’s history.Manager Buck Showalter told reporters over the weekend that he thought the All-Star selection and participation in the Home Run Derby could help bring Alonso out of his recent slump.“I hate to see good people beat themselves up,” Showalter said. “But I think it is good timing for him to be reminded how good of a player he is. I think he is one of the league leaders in unluckiness, so to speak. Pete is as real as it gets.”The Mets came into the season with World Series aspirations only to have the team’s owner, Steven A. Cohen, acknowledge last week that they could be sellers at the trading deadline. Putting some salt in that wound: Atlanta, which leads the Mets by 18.5 games in the N.L. East despite spending more than $100 million less in payroll than their division rival, will send an M.L.B.-high eight players to the All-Star Game. Source link Read the full article
