Par exemple, la semaine dernière, je mettais la main sur le coupé Q60 S I-Line d’Infiniti. Certains lecteurs se souviendront que j’ai déjà publié des impressions de conduite de la Q60 S l’année dernière, sensiblement à la même période. Cependant, cette fois-ci, il s’agit d’une version I-Line légèrement plus poussée. Mais avant d’aller plus loin, spécifions immédiatement que la version I-Line est uniquement disponible au Canada ! En effet, ce beau coupé aux finitions légèrement différentes n’est pas commercialisée aux États-Unis. En fait, il ne l’est pas ailleurs dans le monde non plus.

Il faut souligner que la traction intégrale empêche les roues arrière de patiner et aide l’auto à accélérer en ligne droite.

La Q60 S I-Line possède également cette suspension ajustable par le conducteur grâce aux modes Standard, Sport, Sport + et autres et plusieurs autres avantages spécifiques à ce genre de voiture. Logiquement, ce beau coupé devrait faire partie de la gamme des autos de luxe du groupe Infiniti de Nissan mais dans le cas de la Q60 S I-Line, il faudra accepter sa suspension plus rigide vu sa vocation plus «sportive». Et cette fermeté est accrue lorsqu’on passe en mode Sport et Sport +.

Autrement, la Q60 S I-Line se présente avec un intérieur presque identique à celui de la Q 60 décrite ici en octobre dernier. Alors que les deux places avant sont confortables avec des sièges qui offrent un bon support (pour la conduite…sportive), les places arrière, quoique utiles pour de courts déplacements, correspondent plus à la description que l’on ferait d’une voiture de type 2+2 que d’un coupé sport. Et y accéder demeure un exercice acrobatique. Le tableau de bord est toujours aussi impressionnant car il offre deux écrans, l’un pour le GPS et les caméras de marche arrière (ou avant) ou de l’image à trois dimensions du véhicule (très utile pour le garer), l’autre pour la radio, le chauffage et autres fonctions ce que j’ai bien apprécié. Par contre, on note l’absence des prises pour Appel CarPlay et Android Auto. Cependant, ce que je n’ai pas aimé, c’est le coffre dont l’utilisation est plutôt restreinte à cause de sa configuration. Heureusement, il est possible de rabattre le dossier des sièges d’arrière pour plus de place! De plus, les charnières du coffre sont à ciseaux ce qui évite à d’immenses charnières de pénétrer dans cet espace déjà serré et d’écraser le cargo.

Sur la route

J’ai eu un peu plus de temps pour «étudier» la Q0 S cette fois-ci. Comme je le disais, les accélérations sont impressionnantes alors que la boîte de vitesses automatique réagit rapidement en mode automatique. Je l’ai essayée en mode «manuel» avec l’aide des palettes au volant. J’apprécie de telles commandes quand vient le temps d’utiliser le frein-moteur en décélérant. Mais en accélération, j’ai remarqué qu’il y a un (court mais sensible) temps de réaction quand le conducteur passe les rapports, un problème que j’ai souvent remarqué sur plusieurs véhicules dont ces commandes sont à réaction électronique.

Les reprises peuvent être impressionnantes comme elles peuvent être un peu lentes selon le régime du moteur. À un certain niveau, celui-ci tombe sur son couple le plus sollicité et cela se remarque. D’ailleurs, ce couple provoque un son plus prononcé des échappements qui se fait sentir par des vibrations agaçantes dans l’habitacle (quoique cet effet puisse se produire dans certains véhicules de la concurrence aussi). La Q60 S essayée l’automne dernier était plus silencieuse. Mais ce bruit (son?) serait l’apanage des versions I-Line !

La direction de l’auto m’est parue relativement précise mais encore une fois, comme ce fut le cas pour la Q 60 S de l’année dernière, les larges pneus (de série 35) Potenza ne voulaient pas «rester» dans les ornières de nos «belles autoroutes» ce qui m’obligeait à bien garder les deux mains solidement sur le volant en vitesse de croisière. Quant au comportement de ce coupé en condition de conduite «sportive», il faut en souligner la précision ce qui n’est pas peu dire pour une auto de quelque 4050 livres. Qui plus est, il faut aussi mentionner que les gros freins avec leurs étriers peints en rouge (très visibles!)  font un excellent travail d’arrêter cette lourde voiture ans une distance respectable.

Ma semaine passée au volant de la Q60 s’est soldée avec un consommation de 14,05 l/100 km alors que la plupart des déplacements se sont faits en situation urbaine (le constructeur annonce une consommation de 9,5 sur route et 12,2 en ville). Quant au prix, alors qu’une Q60 de base débute à 53 795$, la I-Line débute, elle, à 65 295 $ plus des 100 $ de taxe d’accise fédérale pour le climatiseur (!). Ajoutez les 2 045 $ pour le transport et la préparation et quelques autres «dollars» pour les taxes locales et fédérales!

Cette Q60 pourrait avoir plusieurs voitures semblables pour concurrentes mais on sait tous que dans le domaine des coupés de performance, il faut d’abord compter sur les si populaires Mustang et Challenger sans oublier les Camaro. Toutefois, cette Q60 a tout un avantage, surtout au Québec! Elle est à traction intégrale, un atout en hiver!

Une petite tournée en  VW Tiguan

J’ai pris un peu plus de temps pour publier mon blogue cette semaine car je me suis permis une petite vacance sur le bord de la mer dans le Maine. Pour ce faire, j’ai eu la collaboration de Volkswagen Canada qui a mis un petit VUS Tiguan à ma disposition. En fait, «petit» n’est peut-être pas le bon mot puisqu’il s’agissait de la version à sept passagers.

J’ai donc fait plus de 1500 kilomètres au volant du Tiguan. La seule autre fois que j’ai conduit ce véhicule, c’était en mars 2018 et nous étions en plein hiver (vous pouvez consulter ce texte par les archives de mon blogue). Cette fois, j’ai pu rouler sur des routes sèches sous le beau soleil…et la pluie avec ce VUS dont le moteur à quatre cylindres turbocompressé fait 184 chevaux et 221 li-pi de couple. Dans le cas de la R-Line d’essai, il était combiné à une boîte automatique à huit rapports et à la traction intégrale 4Motion qui a eu son rôle à jouer sur les routes mouillées.

Tout ce que j’ai écrit sur ce VUS Volks s’applique encore au modèle actuel. Évidemment, j’ai eu plus d’opportunités de vérifier les performances du véhicules qui, je l’avoue, ne sont pas nécessairement étincelantes. Du point mort à 100 km/h peut demander de neuf à dix secondes et les reprises peuvent s’avérer laborieuses, surtout en montagne. Autrement, l’ensemble mécanique est plaisant et efficace alors que j’ai noté une consommation moyenne totale de 8,14 l/100 km ce qui est remarquable. Mais sachez que plus de 85% de ces déplacements se sont faits sur autoroute à vitesse de croisière.

Évidemment, les prix ont changé depuis mars de l’année dernière et ce que j’ai découvert place le Tiguan de base à 29 225$ alors que le R-Line qui a servi à ce voyage afficherait un prix de 40 325 $ plus 1960 $ de transport. Cependant, il se peut que le véhicule soit moins cher après vos négociations avec le vendeur.

L’un dans l’autre, ce Tiguan s’est avéré un excellent véhicule pour les voyages surtout pour sa douceur et son silence de roulement. Lors d’une forte pluie, le régulateur de vitesse a été désactivé par le système de contrôle de la stabilité qui a senti une forme d’aquaplanage des pneus Continental. ET, encore une fois, si le Tiguan est nettement plus grand que le modèle qu’il remplace, son espace intérieur est limité. Si l’on voyage à deux, on obtient un grand espace de chargement en rabaissant les dossiers des sièges du centre et d’arrière. À quatre, ce même espace est fortement diminué. Mais à six ou sept, il n’y a carrément plus d’espace. Il faudra alors une coquille sur le toit ou une petite remorque.

Le Tiguan ne connaît que peu de concurrence si l’on tient compte surtout de sa capacité de passagers, le Nissan Rogue et le Mitsubishi Outlander. Toutefois, son look demeure un autre atout. Volkswagen a su lui donner une allure qui ressemble à celle des autres véhicules de la marque sans tomber dans la morosité de la ressemblance des autres VUS compact! Le Tiguan sera de retour presque identique pour 2020 mais avec  quelques accessoires en plus. Un bon choix!

L’exposition du Parc des Moulins à Terrebonne

On en est rendu à l’automne et chez nous, au Québec, on dirait que tous les organismes se lancent pour nous présenter un «show automobile» en même temps. Imaginez, pour un mordu comme moi, il aurait fallu que je sois au Lac George, New York le week-end dernier pour un Concours d’Élégance d’importance, à Watkins Glen (encore au New York) pour le US Vintage Grand Prix, à l’Autodrome Saint-Eustache samedi soir pour la NASCAR Pinty’s (heureusement remise à dimanche après-midi à cause de la pluie) et à Terrebonne dimanche pour l’expo annuelle de voitures anciennes (sans parler du visionnement des courses de NASCAR à la télé pour d’autres reportages à 360nitro.tv…vive les enregistrements…mais encore. J’ai donc donné priorité à Terrebonne d’abord puis à St-Eustache.

J’ai donc appris que l’expo annuelle de Terrebonne au Parc des Moulins devrait être la deuxième en importance au Québec après l’International de Granby.

De toute façon, il devait y avoir plus de 500 véhicules à Terrebonne incluant plusieurs anciennes, quelques camions de poids lourd et des européennes. Évidemment, il y avait aussi de nombreuses américaines des années cinquante et soixante dont plusieurs avaient déjà été vues auparavant. Mais l’évènement était, pour moi, une occasion idéale d’y prendre des centaines de photos d’archive.

C’est triste à dire mais la course NASCAR Pinty’s (Lucas Oil 250) de dimanche dernier à l’Autodrome Saint-Eustache aura été le dernier évènement national de NASCAR Canada à se tenir sur le petit ovale de 3/10e de mille. Il y aura une «vraie» dernière course de championnat provincial le 22 septembre prochain à cette piste mais toutes ces épreuves ne feront qu’augmenter le sentiment de peine de voir cette véritable légende du sport automobile local disparaître.

Je retiens surtout les confidences de Kerry Micks, pilote CASCAR maintenant NASCAR d’Ontario qui a gagné quelques fois à Saint-Eu (peut-être ses rares sinon seules victoires dans les grandes séries).
