New photos of the updated VW Golf, which is already being tested, have appeared on the Internet. The Volkswagen Golf has never looked more like a Passat. New photos have appeared The rest of the Golf's exterior looks very familiar, with few noticeable differences between it and the current model. This prototype features a new set of taillights that are expected to include updated LED graphics, although this design is hidden by decals. This turbocharger will change your driving experience like never before by giving your ride massive power gains and superior performance. With this turbocharger, the engineers at CTS Turbo took successful features from their previous releases and made them better. They kept the journal bearing CHRA from the IS38 turbocharger and increased the thrust bearings and thrust collars by 2 mm, to match the larger wheels and the performance-oriented nature of this upgrade.

They also increased the turbo’s oil passages by 0.72mm and put the turbo through extensive in-house tests to make sure that it delivers the highest performance at different altitudes and climates. Their main goals were to manufacture a turbocharger with fast spool times, massive torque gains, and reliable solid mid-range performance, so its safe to say that the CTS Turbo JB-600 Journal Bearing Hybrid Turbocharger MQB Platform 2015-2020 delivers that and more.

Designed for street use, this turbocharger delivers approximately 600 crank hp, around 520-530whp on E85 and 430-460whp on pump 93 octane**. As a performance upgrade, this turbocharger will do wonders for the power and efficiency of your MQB platform. You should also know that this system is engineered to be very durable and withstand the high-performance demands you intend to put it through.

Notes:

Always follow the proper procedure for checking/adjusting the wastegate actuator when installing the turbo! Recommended wastegate actuator voltage: 3.4V-3.6V

We recommend keeping the boost within 25-28psi, less if you’re limited by fueling or a stock engine. Do not exceed the recommended boost range, as it will reduce efficiency.

Installation must be performed by a qualified technician. Always pre-fill the turbocharger, replace engine oil and filter, and follow proper break-in procedures.

During his official visit to Germany, Prince Carl Philip was welcomed by Volkswagen Group representatives in Wolfsburg and found out more about the company’s e-mobility strategy. The Swedish Prince was one of the first to test the Group’s new generation of electric cars, including models from the Volkswagen ID. family. Sweden is one of Europe’s largest markets for electric vehicles. Andreas Renschler, CEO of TRATON SE and a Member of the Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft Board of Management, said: “Sweden is a role model in the area of climate protection. Today, more than half of the electricity generated already comes from renewable sources. That is an essential prerequisite for making e-mobility sustainable for passenger cars as well as trucks and buses.” He went on to say: “We have several innovative e-mobility projects in Sweden, for example, Scania will soon begin testing self-driving electric buses for Stockholm’s public transport system.” Sweden is one of Europe’s largest markets for electric vehicles and therefore an important sales market for the Group’s electric models. With reference to Prince Carl Philip’s test drives, the Volkswagen Brand Board Member for Technical Development, Dr. Frank Welsch, commented: “Prince Carl Philip of Sweden is a talented racing driver and an expert on cars. He was a successful participant in the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia from 2008 to 2011. And he visited the Rally Sweden and the Volkswagen Motorsport team. The Volkswagen Group is one of the largest industrial investors in Sweden. Scania invested €2.4 billion in Sweden in the last ten years. Scania produces trucks and buses in Europe, South America and Asia and is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of sustainable transport solutions. 96,500 trucks and buses were delivered to customers in 2018 – 19,000 of which were built at the Swedish plant in Södertälje. 20,700 of Scania’s total workforce of 52,100 are employed in Sweden. In early 2018, Scania invested €10 million in the battery manufacturing company Northvolt. The collaboration concerns the industrial scale production of battery cells. A joint research consortium called European Battery Union led by Volkswagen and Northvolt was announced recently. The consortium is applying for funding from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy to finance the research, development and industrial scale production of battery technology. Furthermore, the Volkswagen Group is one of the largest car manufacturers in Sweden. 103,000 passenger cars and 16,700 trucks from the Group were registered in Sweden in 2018, accounting for a 27.4 percent share of the passenger car market and a 30 percent share of the truck market. The Volkswagen Golf, Passat and Tiguan are among the top ten passenger car models in Sweden’s registration statistics, putting Volkswagen in second place behind Volvo. I was looking for a new car for my commute and landed on the Elantra GT N-line. I think it was a great little package that doesn't get a lot of press. It wouldn't have been on my radar if not for the recent buzz around the Veloster N. So, I thought I would write up my thoughts sort of like a "What car should I buy" post-mortem.

What did I buy?

2019 Hyundai Elantra GT N-line

White ext / black int

6 spd manual

No other options (manual is only trim, you need to get the DCT to get the tech pkg)

Price: $21,485 before tax, title, blah, blah, etc

My criteria:

Manual transmission

Compact hatchback / 5 door config

Good power (I live at elevation and often drive up the canyons so I wanted more than most base trims)

Fun to drive

Decent fuel economy

Apple Carplay

Around $25k

For reference, I was thinking about a first gen Acura TSX as sort of reference vehicle. Good power, an absolute blast to drive, but can still be a civilized commuter car.

Subaru Impreza Sport

Each car had its strengths and weakness. The Hondas had better shifters and the Si was definitely a better driver but I couldn't get past the exterior styling and the interior was really a step behind. The Subaru was a great value, AWD is a nice perk, and was more fun than I thought it would be with the manual but it is really under powered.

Why no Mazda3 or VW GTI/Golf?

Mazda forces you into a higher price tier to get the manual and secondly I was concerned about getting a non-turbo option at elevation. On top of that, none of the dealers local to me had a manual option available for a test drive. I am curious to drive one eventually but I don't think they could have competed on price.

On the VW front, my wife's daily is an Alltrack (DCT) that we both really like. Mostly I wanted something different rather than another VW. I also really hate our local VW dealership.

On that note, Subaru and Hyundai both offered a really pleasant dealership experience. The Honda place I visited was an awful experience. They were really hesitant to let me test drive unless I was ready to buy one off the lot that day! Thankfully we were able to get past that. I get that they are a volume dealer but really left a bad taste in my mouth. The Subaru place here moves a ton of volume and was packed when I showed up but they still took time to treat me well. Luckily I have multiple dealership options around me but really disappointed in Honda here.

Is the Hyundai perfect? Of course not but it ended up being the right car for me. Thanks for reading. Happy to answer questions but I thought this might be useful for other shoppers.
