Security is the order of business at kia, and that's why they have actually developed the optima out of advanced high strength steel that takes in energy at 16 core body locations. # 3 in Best Midsize Cars of 2020 Despite the fact that americans seem trading in cars for good, the midsize family sedan looks much better than it's ever been. It definitely didn't feel even worse than other midsize cars and trucks i have actually remained in recently. Headroom is likewise good, even with the breathtaking moonroof on the sxl i drove. Driving the 2020 Kia Optima The newly redesigned 2016 kia optima, with its blend of driving dynamics and a well-thought-out interior, stays competitive in the definitely cutthroat midsize sedan field. 2020 Kia Optima Interior Kia completely upgraded the optima for 2021, with a bolder exterior and a genuinely luxurious interior. But the kia prevents the mazda's conservative, minimalist styling. A good-looking strip of matte synthetic wood and leather dominates the dash and isn't abnormal in today's market, however like the exterior, little touches both in regards to style and design to help the optima's interior stick out. 2020 Kia Optima Outside Kia didn't make many modifications on the optima's outside, however what they've done is bring a few minor design changes into the mix and create a more exciting and sportier optima in 2020. 2020 Kia Optima Requirement Features The updated optima was used with a brand-new 2. 7l engine, 4-speed automatic (the handbook was dropped), and features such as full leather interior and alloy wheels were made requirement. Can i get led headlights on a 2020 kia optima?. While led headlights aren't available on the lx, s and ex designs, they are basic on the sporty optima sx. 2020 Kia Optima Options I wish there were smaller alternatives, like a vw jetta hybrid with the performance of the kia optima hybrid. In a world of suvs the kia optima sportswagon stands out as one of a decreasing variety of options that are excellent to take a look at and fully equipped. 2020 Kia Optima Engine That's thanks in no small part to the optima's now more rakish profile. Kia minimized the three-box style common of sedans and the three boxes are the trunk, cabin, and engine bay in favor of a sleeker tail. The kia optima lx and s models are powered by a 2. 4-liter 4-cylinder engine that sends 185 horsepower to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission. Net output: 202 horsepower/276 lb-ft of torque. Epa city/highway fuel economy: 41 mpg combined. How much does the 2020 kia optima cost?.

Lexus LC Convertible Concept As realistic as it is, this cabriolet is still a concept. Indeed, this Lexus LC decapsulated series has no roof at all, so it is unclear, in case this car would reach production, if it would have a hood or hard-top retractable. It seems that the LC Convertible Concept has been decided and carried out in a certain precipitation, which does not detract from its beauty. It even keeps two small rear seats. As for a possible marketing, Tadao Mori, the designer responsible for its lines, says it would be "very exciting". The reverse would have been amazing ...

Cadillac XT6 Vogue SUV requires, Cadillac neglects the sedans for the benefit of 4x4 road. Evidenced by the all-new XT6, overseeing the XT5 with its 5.05 m long. Drawn while sober (or even banal) to better counter its European rivals, the XT6 remains lower in range to the Escalade and is currently for a 3.6 l V6 developing 310 hp. Combined with a 9-speed automatic transmission, it sends its cavalry either to the 4 wheels or to the front axle. Above all, it has six passengers on three rows of seats, but the technological equipment is not necessarily standard. It seems that Cadillac is still looking with this apparently dull SUV, but that could quite happen in Europe.

Volkswagen Passat Even though sedans are losing steam in the US, VW is presenting Detroit with the 2nd generation Passat specific to the North American market. Evolution of its predecessor presented in 2011, it has nothing to do with that sold at home since it still borrows its platform at the Golf VI. It should be known that in the United States, the Passat is a cheap car, while it is getting closer to the premium in Europe. Under the hood, the American Passat is content with a 4-cylinder 2.0 l turbo 176 hp gasoline hitched to an automatic 6-box (not a DSG): a bit just to fight the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord , who trust the first places of the segment ...

Lexus RC F restyled After the hybrid version, it is the turn of the F, sports version of the RC coupe, to benefit from a slight restyling. Projectors and calender, in particular, evolve slightly. Under the hood, we find the V8 atmo which sees its power drop from 477 to 464 hp, depollution requires. This loss of power is offset by a weight down, while the chassis is sharp. At his side, we discover a very radicalized version, the Track Edition, inspired by the GT3 entered in competition. It adopts aggressive aerodynamic accessories, including a large rear wing benefiting the support and limiting drag. It weighs about 80 kg less than the F (carbon fiber roof, carbon-ceramic brakes) and goes from 0 to 100 km / h in just over 4 seconds. On sale in the second quarter of 2019.

Nissan IMs concept While fashion is the SUV, Nissan imagine the next shot, which could be a return to sedans. Finally almost because its IMs concept adopts a raised ground clearance, contrasting with its fast-back line being sporty. Because if it is electric, Nissan does not forget the power, its two engines (one by rolling, which makes it a 4-wheel drive) totaling 483 hp for 800 Nm of torque. In addition, the autonomy exceeds 600 km and above all, the IMs prides itself on being able to guide itself. In the end, this concept only slightly exceeds what Tesla offers in mass production.

Subaru STI S209 Limited Edition Former star of the rallies, the Impreza has lost its little name to be called only WRX STI. In Detroit, it is declined in a version S209 Limited Edition. As its name suggests, this is a limited series, of which 200 copies will be exclusively offered in the USA. It is mainly signaled by its 2.5 l boxer engine, more powerful than ever with its 341 hp. The chassis benefits from a preparation inspired by the settings of the victorious race version at the Nürburgring 24 Hours in SP3T. Curiously, it will not be commercialized until the end of 2019.

Ram Heavy Duty Having become a full-fledged brand, Ram is presenting its new Heavy Duty range in Detroit. These are huge pickups, mainly intended for professional use, and most often driven by colossal engines. Thus, in basic version, the Ram receives a V6 Hemi 6.4 l of 410 hp for 581 Nm. It goes again. But we can opt for a 6.7-liter Cummins 6-cylinder diesel engine developing 400 hp for a monstrous torque of 1,360 Nm! This allows the goliath of the roads to tow 35 100 pounds (or about 16 tons) and accommodate 7 680. Utilitarian, the Ram is nevertheless very welcoming and comfortable, and enjoys advanced equipment. Not available in France? Let's bet that private importers will do anything to offer it to us.
Lincoln Continental 80th Anniversary
80 years ago, Lincoln presented its first Continental. On the occasion of this anniversary, the luxury brand Ford Group presents a limited series of its flagship, characterized by its doors opening antagonist, in reference to the Continental launched in 1961. Only 80 copies of this limousine, lengthened 15 cm to install these specific openings, will be manufactured. The rear passengers enjoy all the comfort possible, but under the hood, no fat V8 gulping. Instead, there is a V6 3.0 l biturbo of 400 hp.

Infiniti QX Inspiration If she is still struggling in Europe, Infiniti, the luxury brand of the Alliance Renault-Nissan, sells many more cars in the US, the market for which it was created. It presents in Detroit its concept QX Inspiration, an electric SUV announcing the future of the style of the brand. Purified, the QX also sports reduced overhangs and a very vertical front, all suggesting a certain dynamism. The roof adopts translucent panels letting light filter through a wooden trellis inspired by Japanese homes: chic and original. No technical info was given.

GAC Entranze Slowly but surely, Chinese manufacturers are setting up around the world. Thus, GAC has opened a design center in California that produced this very interesting concept Entranze, whose name indicates its entry across the Atlantic. Filming the metaphor, it is distinguished by its transparent doors (not a novelty in itself) opening sliding like those of a closet. Inside, surprise, we see the use of a rare material in the car: cork. With reference to bottle caps? Perhaps intoxicating, but in any case electric, this concept opens the door to the first models that GAC hopes to sell in the US by 2020.

Ford Explorer ST United States requires, the big SUVs hold the upper hand in Detroit, where Ford unveils its new Explorer. Cleverly redesigned, it now comes in a strong ST version of 400 hp. To offer this power, it relies either on a good big V8 but a V6 3.0 l biturbo: the downsizing rife also at Uncle Sam! This block is complete with an automatic transmission, obviously, but still counting 10 reports, ordering a full transmission. This rival of the Audi SQ7 will certainly not be offered in Europe, where its price would be very high anyway for a Ford, knowing that it will be $ 60,000 across the Atlantic. Not to mention CO2 emissions ...

Toyota Supra After more than 16 years of waiting, enthusiasts are delighted to see Toyota revive a Supra. Succeeding the Mk IV disappeared in 2002, the Mk V changes the formula, to get closer to that of the 2000 GT of the 60s. Smaller than its predecessor, the new Supra sports a less spectacular line and loses its rear seats, but it keeps a 6-cylinder in line. This one is provided by BMW, which is not surprising since the Toyota, technically, is very close to the very last Z4, and manufactured, like him, in Graz in Austria. Developing 340 hp, the 3.0-liter twin-turbo block attaches to a ZF carbox and catapults the German-Japanese sports car to 100 km / h in 4.3 s. It will be available in Europe in mid-2019. As an indication, it is billed $ 49,990 in the US entry level.

Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500 What a mouth! The new Shelby Mustang is not in lace with its curved bonnet and aerodynamic accessory. But it's nothing compared to what's going on under the hood. Fueled by an Eaton compressor, the large 5.2-liter V8 exceeds 700 hp. Excuse the little! Do not look, it's more than for the Ford GT supercar, and is even a record for a road Ford. Combined with a box 7 double clutch, it rushes Shelby to 100 km / h in about 3.5 seconds. To stay on the road, it is equipped Magneride controlled dampers, 20-inch wheels and brakes Brembo. Unfortunately, it is not planned to officially export it to Europe.

2019 Toyota Avalon debuts in Detroit
http://www.autositenews.com/?p=7114
Tumblr media
Demand for mainstream sedans may be waning but not at Toyota it seems.
A year on from redesigning its Camry, the Japanese firm has taken the covers off a redesigned Avalon.
The new 2019 Avalon was presented for the first time on Monday at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The car rides on the longest version of the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) modular platform and measures 196 inches in length, which is 0.7 inches up on the outgoing model. The wheelbase is up almost 2.0 inches, leading to a roomier cabin. Speaking of the cabin, there is a surprising level of sophistication here, including the ability to order real wood and metal trim.
Past the steering wheel, a 7.0-inch infotainment shows vehicle information, turn-by-turn navigation, and various vehicle settings. And there's connectivity, too, including a WiFi hotspot, Apple CarPlay and even Amazon Alexa support.
In the powertrain department, you'll find the choice of a 3.5-liter V-6 or a 2.5-liter inline-4-based hybrid. Although power output ratings haven't been announced for the Avalon, they'll likely match the performance the same powertrains deliver in the related Camry. In the smaller sedan, the V-6 is rated at 301 horsepower and the hybrid at 208 hp. The V-6 is mated to an 8-speed automatic while the hybrid relies on a CVT.
All 2019 Avalons will come standard with a high level of safety gear. The list includes collision avoidance gear such as automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warnings, active lane control, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alerts, and automatic high beams on every model. Additionally, the Avalon is fitted with 10 airbags and a rearview camera, also as standard.
Production will be handled at Toyota's plant in Georgetown, Kentucky and the first examples should reach showrooms in the fall, where they'll be competing with the likes of the Buick LaCrosse, Chevrolet Impala and Kia Cadenza. The latter served as a benchmark for Toyota engineers during much of the Avalon's real-world testing.

Why Lexus is Investing in Racing – The Big Picture
“Win on Sunday, sell on Monday.” It’s a marketing line as old as the automobile. When Henry Ford raced—and famously beat—rival automaker Alexander Winton on the Detroit Driving Club’s 1-mile oval at Grosse Pointe in 1901, it wasn’t to prove who was the better driver, but whose was the better car. Racing made the reputations of Alfa Romeo and Jaguar and Porsche and Bentley; even aristocratic Rolls-Royce used its victory in the grueling 1913 Alpine Trial to enhance its reputation as builder of “the best car in the world.”
And it’s still an article of faith among many automotive marketers: Mercedes-Benz and Ferrari are each reportedly spending $400 million making sure their brands stay at the pointy end of this year’s Formula 1 field. Hyundai is said to pour about $100 million a year into its World Rally Championship team. And with battery electric vehicles about to go mainstream, no fewer than eight automakers, including Audi, Nissan, and India’s Mahindra, will tip at least $200 million into this year’s all-electric Formula E championship.
“Win on Sunday, sell on Monday.” It’s why, as the darkness falls on serried ranks of RVs and a thousand glowing campfires, I’m watching a pair of growling, bewinged Lexus RC F GTD racers hustle through the twisting infield road course section of Daytona International Speedway as the legendary Rolex 24 settles in to the rhythm of the night.
It’s almost 30 years since I first drove a Lexus. The original LS 400 was the sedan that changed the world, a car so refined and beautifully crafted that it shocked an entire generation of engineers in Stuttgart and Munich and Ingolstadt.
But the brand that positioned itself as the young upstart shaking up the luxury vehicle establishment is now inescapably part of that establishment. As it approaches middle age, Toyota’s luxury arm is seen by many as a legitimate Mercedes, BMW, and Audi alternative—and it’s become one without spending the cubic dollars on motorsport its rivals have.
So why go racing now?
“We want to move the brand in a little more exciting, fun direction,” explains Cooper Ericksen, vice president of Lexus product planning and strategy. “Motorsport is an effective way to get in front of consumers and put yourself out there.”
That move is being driven from the top: Toyota boss Akio Toyoda, who put himself front and center of the Supra reveal at the Detroit auto show earlier this year, has made clear his desire that both the Toyota and Lexus brands be sprinkled with motorsport fairy dust.
Akio knows Lexus has no choice. Building the best sedan in the world was enough to stake your claim as a legitimate premium brand 30 years ago. Today you have to prove your premium road car can run with the best on the racetrack, too. The 42-car GTD class at Daytona (very closely related to the international GT3 and GTLM categories) included factory-developed cars from Acura and Audi, Ferrari and Lamborghini, BMW and Mercedes-AMG, and, of course, Porsche. In the 2019 Blancpain GT Series for GT3 cars in Europe (which subscribers can watch on MotorTrend On Demand), the GT3-spec Lexus RC F’s rivals also include Aston Martin, Bentley, Jaguar, McLaren, and Nissan.
Lexus—well, Toyota—can build world-beating performance cars. Back in the early 1990s Toyota dominated IMSA; it threepeated the Daytona 24 in 2006, 2007, and 2008; and has been a consistent resident of the NASCAR winner’s circle (though it was less fortunate in its foray into Formula 1).
The only question is, do Toyota and Lexus have the commitment today? We’ve seen the automaker dabble in fast, fun cars like the Supra, MR2, and Lexus LFA, then allow them to wither and die as it concentrates on building Camrys, RAV4s, and Lexus RX crossovers.
The roadgoing Lexus RC F Track Edition—all wing and carbon fiber and rumbling exhaust—is a promising start. But I’ll know the company is truly serious about performance and racing when I can drive the next-gen version to see a Lexus going wheel to wheel with a Porsche at Daytona 10 years from now.
Over to you, Akio …

The Race Cars of the 2019 Detroit Auto Show
New production and concept cars dominate auto shows, but most such expositions feature competition cars sprinkled across the convention-center floor. The 2019 Detroit International Auto Show was no different, with multiple racing categories represented by some of the coolest machines from around the globe. We rounded up the group so you don’t have to wonder if you missed any of them.
Alfa Romeo Sauber-Ferrari Formula 1 Car
The 2018 Formula 1 season was the first in which the Sauber team featured Alfa Romeo livery, but in Detroit on the Alfa stand you’ll find a previous, halo-less model dressed up in the present color scheme. Seeing F1 cars in person always reminds us just how compact the world’s quickest road-racing machines are.
Kia Forte Drift Car
Developed in partnership with Red Bull and Race Service, this drifting Forte stars in Kia’s current television advertising campaign. Featuring the production Stinger GT’s twin-turbo V-6—in longitudinal arrangement rather than transverse as in the Stinger—the 375-hp, rear-drive drifter started as a production front-drive Forte EX but features a six-speed sequential gearbox, quick-change rear differential, and a hybrid drift/grip suspension.
Nissan Formula E Car
Nissan didn’t fare so well in Le Mans competition a few years ago, but it should do much better in the ABB FIA Formula E series. The Gen 2 FE racer, built with the same Spark chassis as all FE cars, features a Nissan electric drivetrain. Power increases this season for all Formula E cars from 200 to 250 kW, and the championship’s battery tech is now good for entire race distances, whereas previous seasons required drivers to swap cars mid-race.
Toyota Gazoo Racing Supra Concept
The production 2020 Supra was one of the big reveals in Detroit, but we’re excited to see a GT-racing version in action soon in Japan’s Super GT series—and hopefully elsewhere, though we hear Toyota has no plans to run it in the U.S.-based IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
NASCAR Xfinity Series Toyota Supra
Yes, yes, we know. What the hell kind of Supra is this? It bears little to nothing in common with the production model, but hey, welcome to NASCAR, where this Supra “stock car” will compete in the sanctioning body’s second-tier Xfinity Series beginning this season.
NASCAR Toyota Camry
This is the 2018 edition of Toyota’s Monster Energy Cup Series NASCAR entry, driven by Joe Gibbs Racing star Kyle Busch, who finished fourth in the standings with seven wins.
Toyota Yaris WRC
Debuting for the 2017 season, this is Toyota’s first FIA World Rally Championship machine since the manufacturer last competed in the sport in 1999. It so far has claimed seven rally wins, five of those coming in 2018 when Toyota used it to take home the WRC constructors’ championship title.
2019 Subaru WRX STI VT19x Global Rallycross Supercar
Subaru’s latest Rallycross creation features a famous livery (sans tobacco branding), 600 horsepower from its 2.0-liter turbo boxer-four engine, a custom suspension and bodywork, and accelerates from zero to 60 mph in less than three seconds. Also new for 2019 is ex-F1 driver and defending Rallycross champion Scott Speed, who joins Subaru Rally Team USA drivers Patrik Sandell and Chris Atkinson.
Team Penske Dallara-Chevrolet IndyCar
This is the same car that won the 2018 Indianapolis 500 with Australian IndyCar star Will Power at the wheel. His victory in the May classic gave famous team owner Roger Penske his 17th win in the Greatest Spectacle in Racing. It’s on hand at the Detroit show to promote the 2019 running of the Detroit Grand Prix, scheduled for May 31 through June 2 on Detroit’s Belle Isle.
Chip Ganassi Racing Dallara-Honda IndyCar
If you’re familiar with the IndyCar Series—newly sponsored by NTT rather than Verizon—then you know Scott Dixon is one of the greatest IndyCar racers of all time. Using his Chip Ganassi Racing Dallara-Chevrolet, he won three races in 2018 on his way to claiming his record-tying fifth IndyCar drivers’ championship. With 44 career victories, Dixon is third on IndyCar’s all-time wins list behind A.J. Foyt (67) and Mario Andretti (52).
Acura ARX-05
Acura returned to prototype racing competition in 2018, partnering with Team Penske to run two cars in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The ORECA-based chassis features a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 behind the drivers, in this case Juan Pablo Montoya and Dane Cameron. The other car was driven last year by Helio Castroneves and Ricky Taylor, who won at Mid-Ohio, with Montoya and Cameron recording four podium finishes.
Acura NSX GT3
Want to go racing? Love the production NSX? Then here’s your steed. For about $525,000—exact pricing will be determined when you write the check—you, too, can drive this twin-turbo V-6–powered GT3 race car in various series throughout the world—presuming you have the necessary competition license. Actually, not quite this version, as for the 2019 season Acura has updated the car seen here and called it the “NSX GT3 Evo.” This mid-engine contender is already a proven winner in America, boasting victories in IMSA competition as well as in the Pirelli World Challenge.
