Audi is teasing the production of e-tron GT and unveiling the “progressive” sound of the vehicle
Audi is teasing the production version of its e-tron GT electric supercar and unveiling the “progessive” sound of the vehicle.
Audi collaborating with Porsche is an exciting entry in the EV space.
Audi unveiled its prototype 2 years ago in 2018, and now it is finally getting ready to start production.
Couple days ago, the German automaker teased the production and the sound of the electric car:
“Passion for detail, maximum precision, and top quality: The new Audi e-tron GT reflects all the passion with which Audi develops and builds cars. For the production of the electrically powered Gran Turismo at Audi Böllinger Höfe at the Neckarsulm site, the company uses customized new technologies – however, the finishing touches are applied by highly skilled hands. And since the dynamic work of art must also sound good, Audi has brought musical flair and technical competence to bear in composing a unique sound for the e-tron GT. It sounds powerful and progressive – just as an Audi should.”
Audi also released the following video about the sound of the e-tron GT.
youtube
In the new Audi e-tron GT, you can adjust the sound by yourself for something you enjoy: (audi.com)
Development of the e-sound for the Audi e-tron GT with musical creativity and technical competence; designed on the computer, in the sound laboratory, and in the car
32 individual sound elements; weighted and modulated based on drive management data
Optional sound package: two control units in the luggage compartment, two external loudspeakers on the car and two internal loudspeakers in the rear doors
Sound characteristics can be adjusted across multiple stages using Audi drive select
The automaker released a lot of details about the production of the Audi e-tron GT: (audi.com)

Audi may be looking at making an electric R8 (again) Audi R8 LMS GT2Audi Audi Sport, the high-performance division of Audi, is allegedly taking decisive steps toward electrification with multiple EVs in the works, including an(other) electric R8, according to new reports. Autocar says the EV push will be lead by an electric version of the brand’s iconic sports car, an R8 E-Tron, to begin production sometime next year. Audi has already tried the whole battery-powered R8 thing twice, getting as far as producing a limited run back in 2015 that was cut short due to low demand. The British publication didn’t disclose its sources, but claims another limited production of the electric coupe will begin again next year. Audi revealed the E-Tron GT concept at the 2019 LA Auto show, so there’s a chance the production version will make an appearance at the 2020 event. “Details of the new car have yet to be made official, but it is expected that it will look broadly similar to the 2015 car,” says the magazine. “That model used a dual-motor EV powertrain, mated to a 92-kWh battery, putting out 456 hp and 679 lb-ft for a zero-to-62-mph time of 3.9 sec and a promised range of up to 280 miles.” If not for its lacklustre batting average, news of an electric R8 would be nothing but exciting. Hopefully now that Audi has multiple E-Tron products already on the market and an E-Tron GT sedan also on the way, this third attempt, the R8 E-Tron, will have a better chance of rounding a few

2020 Drako GTE Debuts as a 1,200-HP, Hyper-Handling EV Supercar
On Friday morning at The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering during Monterey Car Week 2019, upstart Drako Motors unveiled its striking new all-electric supercar, the GTE. And whatever your feelings regarding its exterior styling, it boasts several attention-grabbing numbers: 1,200 combined horsepower, a 206-mph top speed, and a base price in excess of $1 million.
The all-wheel-drive Drako GTE comes from the Silicon Valley–based auto-engineering firm founded in 2015 by three tech entrepreneurs. It has four permanent-magnet hybrid synchronous motors (225 kW/302 hp each) to produce that 1,200 hp and blistering acceleration. Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes and, in road configuration, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires add to the extreme performance.
More important, the GTE incorporates the company’s proprietary Drako DriveOS, a software system that replaces conventional mechanical axle differentials with computer-managed four-wheel torque vectoring; the motor at each wheel can be instantly and independently controlled for maximum traction, stability, and handling responsiveness, the company says. The entire system is controlled by a single ECU, making it far less complex than the computer networks in most modern vehicles.
Shiv Sikand, Drako Motors executive vice president and co-founder, says, “I believe we’re on the cusp of a revolution with the use of four-motor electric cars. And we aim to lead that charge.”
Company president and CEO Dean Drako started working with Sikand around 2002, after a friend suggested the two engineers and tech entrepreneurs “would make a good team.” After starting a software company that’s still going strong, Drako and Sikand—both avowed car crazies—turned their attention toward building a car of their own.
“I have a couple Ferraris, a BMW M5 or two,” says Drako. “But I’ve always been a fan of the electric car, always wanted to have one that has the track-capable performance of a traditional sports car. But I’m disappointed with the look of so many electric cars. They look funny. And the makers say, ‘Well, it’s a different thing.’ But the reality is nobody wants a different thing. They want the same thing but better. That was a lot of the motivation for building our car.”
“We want to evoke the passion, the sexiness, of long-bonnet, V-12 sports cars,” agrees Sikand. “We want to show that you can have beautiful, inspiring cars that are high-tech. When you lift the hood of our car you’ll think, ‘I’ve never seen anything like this!’”
That car, unveiled after roughly six years of development, is based on a Fisker Karma platform, but every panel except the doors is new. Indeed, the sensuous lines of the carbon-fiber bodywork were penned by ex-Pininfarina design director Lowie Vermeersch, who helped create such stunning shapes as the Ferrari 458 and the Alfa Romeo 2uettottanta concept car before founding his own design house, GranStudio, in Turin, Italy. But what lies underneath—namely, an innovative battery, four electric motors, and that proprietary Drako DriveOS software to run it all—truly sets this new supercar apart.
The GTE doesn’t mark the first-ever use of such electric architecture, mind you. In 2013, Mercedes-Benz unveiled the four-motor, 740-hp SLS AMG Electric Drive—a car that set the lap record at the time for an electric car around the Nürburgring Nordschleife with a time of 7 minutes, 56 seconds, handily beating the Audi R8 e-tron. Yet after selling fewer than 100 examples of its half-million-dollar supercar, Mercedes essentially abandoned the program.
The Drako GTE aims to pick up where the SLS Electric Drive left off, while also taking the four-motor concept to an entirely new level. Drako promises that effortlessness at the wheel is the GTE’s secret sauce.
“Our obsession has been the new control methodology,” says Sikand. “With electric-motor propulsion at each wheel, you can apportion the torque any way you want. Now, we’ve seen this—Porsche has their torque-vectoring rear axle, for example—but it’s still fundamentally primitive. Or these electronic differentials that control clutches electronically; you’re still doing retardation with hydraulic brakes, and the latency is long. With our system you’ve got a virtual triple differential with no brakes needed. There’s zero latency. And our system is proactive. We’re computing a new torque value every 10 milliseconds to all four wheels, taking into account steering angle, slip angle, wheel-speed sensors, accelerator, and brakes. The tech is not only very intuitive for race-car drivers, but for the general public you can build a very safe car—particularly for inclement conditions.”
Four switches on the console—what Drako calls the Quattro Manettino—allow a driver to adjust the torque-vectoring level, front-to-rear power distribution, braking regen level, and settings for six different road-surface conditions.

Audi Obsession News – June 27, 2019
Right from #thesix, home of the 2019 NBA champions – the Toronto Raptors - Welcome to the hottest Audi News and Updates. It's not a passion. It's an audi_obsession. Let’s get to it! Audi has been on a roll lately so what exactly is happening in the Audi universe?
Are you a fan of Marvel movies?
Audi and Sony Pictures Entertainment Team Up On “Spider-Man: Far From Home”: the All-electric Audi e-tron appears in addition to the Audi A7 and the Audi Q8 in “Spider-Man: Far From Home”.
Also, Tom Holland as Peter Parker stars in latest digital content from Audi, featuring the all-electric Audi e-tron GT concept. I think he is taking over “Tony Stark” role from previous Marvel movies. Cant wait to watch the new spiderman movie!
We all love the Q8, don’t we?
Audi announced the new SQ8 With a Blazing 429HP Turbodiesel Mild Hybrid: Audi added a couple of sport-focused details and a leather/alcantara interior combination to the already stellar Q8 but more importantly, the performance-oriented SQ8 is powered by the same 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged diesel V8 from the Audi SQ7. With that said, the SQ8 produces a whopping 429 horsepower and a head-pressing 664 pound-feet of torque as early as 1,000 rpm. These massive output figures are then sent to the quattro AWD system via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The SQ8's mild hybrid system is designed to power the SUV at speeds of up to 14 mph. Power is fed through a 48V lithium-ion battery pack, which also powers the electric-powered compressor that assists the turbochargers at low revs and low-speed acceleration.
Performance ratings include a 0-62 miles per hour time of 4.8 seconds and an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph.
The diesel-fed Audi SQ8 will hit European showrooms later this year. The gasoline version of the SQ8 will likely reach North America but powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter TFSI V6.
Behold the all-new face-lifted Audi Q7
Audi announced an updated version of its Q7 three-row is SUV is coming to Europe in the fall, and as recent history indicates, the U.S. version shouldn’t be too far behind. Updates to the new Q7’s exterior styling, powertrain and multimedia system bring it in line with recently refreshed or redesigned versions of much of the automaker’s lineup.
youtube
Also similar to the A7 and other recently updated Audi vehicles, the new Q7 gets a powertrain update, including a mild-hybrid system. Again, Audi didn’t give spec details, but it said the vehicle would launch in Europe with a choice of two diesel engines — unlikely to show up stateside. What’s more likely for the U.S. market is the mild-hybrid system. In the A7 and A8 sedans, the system pairs a turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. A 16-horsepower motor-generator captures energy under deceleration and stores it in a battery under the trunk floor; it also enables a stop-start system. Audi says to expect a plug-in hybrid version after launch.
Audi says the new Q7 will launch first in Europe in mid-September; a U.S. launch likely will follow.
“Like what you read so far? Let us know at the comments! Now back to the news!”
Racing is part of Audi’s DNA and last weekend Audi won the Nürburgring 24 Hours beating Porsche racing team – congratulations to the Phoenix Racing team. Fyi, the Audi R8 has now Five wins in eight years. OUTSTANDING!
In other good news, the Audi TT Won't Die After All!
The Audi TT will evolve into an all-electric sports car. Rumours of the Audi TT’s death may have been greatly exaggerated given news from Audi’s own technical boss that the sporty nameplate may live on as an electrified vehicle. Iconic German coupe and roadster could drop gas and diesel engines and switch to battery power. But rumours indicate that these changes wont happen until 2022, so there are still several years to enjoy the current version before the EV replaces it.
And while we wait for those electric changes,
Audi is Launching New S, and RS Models this year: A total of nine S and an additional four RS models are scheduled for a 2019 release. This should include updates to the existing lineup plus new additions. Super excited!
That’s it for today and thanks for sticking until the end! Don’t forget to follow us on Instagram @audi_obsession.

New from E-Man’s Movie Reviews by Emmanuel Noisette: Audis history on the big and small screens
Throughout film history, the movies have featured plenty of famous vehicles. But, the Audi – it has to be said – has featured prominently is some blockbusters.
Mission Impossible II
When it comes to Mission Impossible, let’s rewind back to the year 2000 and Mission: Impossible 2 to showcase how Audi has been featured in the hit movie series that has always starred Tom Cruise in the lead role of Ethan Hunt.
In the film, Hunt leads a mission to destroy deadly biological weapon and finds himself in a exhilarating car chase with international thief Nyah Nordoff-Hall. Hunt is behind the wheel of a Porsche Boxster and Nordoff-Hall tries to hold him off while driving an Audi TT — suffice to say that the pursuit between the two German-made cars into oncoming traffic is filled with nail-biting and edge-of-your-seat drama!
Marvel films
Arguable one of the most successful movie franchises ever to be created, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has films for everyone. There have been 20 films released already — the most recent being Ant-Man and the Wasp — and at least a dozen more in the pipeline.
Not only can you spot the ultimate superheroes in these films, but you may also be able to spot a stylish Audi too.
Did you know that there has actually been at least one Audi in every film in the Iron Man trilogy? A 2007 R8 and S5 B8 can be found in the first movie, a 2009 A8 LD3 and 2010 R8 Spyder are spotted in the sequel, and a 2012 S7 and R8 e-tron both feature in Iron Man 3. The R8 e-tron also turned up at a VIP screening of Iron Man 3 at London’s Leicester Square a few days before the movie’s general release!
But there were almost as many Audi cars featured in the three Iron Movies as there was in Captain America: Civil War! Within its two hours and 27 minutes runtime, you can see the 2017 Audi R8 V10 Plus, the 2017 SQ7, the 2017 A4, the 2016 A7 Sportback and even the Audi prologue concept car — a vehicle hailed as “a ‘signature car’ for Audi” by Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Board Member for Development at Audi.
There’s more to it, though. Be on the lookout for an Audi R8, A6 Hybrid and A3 as you watch the excitement unfold in Avengers: Age of Ultron, as well as an Audi TTS Roadster, R8 Spyder, Q7 and A8 during Spider-Man Homecoming — the first standalone film by our favourite web-slinger since he became involved in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Moving away from the Marvel Universe, the German brand is also spotted in other film adaptations of comic book heroes. An R8 Spyder features in Wolverine — the titular protagonist’s actor Hugh Jackman even turned up at the London Leicester Square premiere of the film in the same car — and an A8 plays a role in the 2015 big screen edition of Fantastic Four.
The Fifty Shades trilogy
Appearing in movie series is becoming a trend for Audi, with them also featuring in the Fifty Shades trilogy. The German manufacturer a presence in all three film adaptations of E.L. James’ novels which follow the relationship of business magnate Christian Grey and college graduate Anastasia Steele.
Why was this brand chosen over the other supercars? The brand’s multiple appearances came as a result of a partnership which was set up between Audi and Universal Pictures — a deal that Audi no doubt has relished seeing as though the movie series has grossed over $1 billion across the globe to date!
In Fifty Shades of Grey, the first film of the trilogy, viewers will be able to spot an Audi S8 D4, a 2017 S7 and a R8 Spyder. In the sequel Fifty Shades Darker, a set of Audi Q7 cars and an A3 took centre stage, with both the R8 and Q7 returning when the franchise wrapped up earlier this year with Fifty Shades Freed.
I, ROBOT
With I, ROBOT though, we’re taken to the future to see what Audi cars may potentially look like in years to come.
Called the Audi RSQ, this concept vehicle represented the first time that Audi had ever developed a car that was to be specifically used in a major Hollywood motion picture.
This future car boasted piloted driving which allowed Will Smith’s Chicago police detective character Del Spooner to press a button to enable the car to take control of the driving — no doubt an early vision of the autonomous driving concept that we are only just starting to see being trialled in real life.
Drivers of the RSQ are able to ride sideways and diagonal, while the use of balls instead of wheels was a quirky design touch. However, the typical single-frame grille and the presence of those four instantly recognisable silver rings let viewers clearly know that this car was without question an Audi.
Furious 7
How could we not give the Fast and Furious franchise a mention? After all, this is a series which features street racing, heists and espionage using all manners of vehicles and has so far spanned eight main series entries and two additional short films — grossing in excess of $5 billion to date!
This series is so popular with its fans, in fact, that a spin-off movie called Hobbs & Shaw is due for release in 2019 and there’s now even a worldwide live show titled Fast & Furious Live, which includes stunt driving, projection mapping and pyrotechnics.
Focusing on Furious 7 now — a movie that clutched at the heartstrings as it was the final one to feature an appearance by series regular Paul Walker due to the actor being killed while the movie was still being filmed — is where you can see Audi appearing in the franchise.
The model of the Audi R8 appears when it competes in an exciting quarter mile race against a classic Plymouth Barracuda in the early moments of the film.
This article was put together by Vindis, a UK dealer offering Audi servicing.

Not a fan of Audi’s boring design, same design for A3, A4, A6, A8… during almost last 15 years. Of course there are great exceptions, like the R8, the A5, or some bold designs with the S7. Tired of new boring electrical or hybrid SUVs from Audi, Mercedes, BMW, Jaguar, Mitsubishi, KIA, Hyundai… finally Audi decides to create something more than a SUV. Is there something more stupid than an electrical SUV? You want to be eco? Then why do u buy a huge heavy non-aerodinamical car to use it in the city?
This “e-tron” four-door coupé evolves the typical Audi’s front, but more than that, give us a nice design at the rear, with the smooth roofline that creates nice shoulders and a great horizontal rear light. Thanks Audi, we want more like that!

[HOT NEWS] Audi E-Tron GTR Rumored To Be Working On High-Performance , Could Replace The R8
via IFTTT Audi E-Tron GTR Rumored To Be Working On High-Performance , Could Replace The R8 audi’s selection to include electric vehicles should ultimately bring about the loss of life of the enduring r8. the news isn’t entirely all horrific as car magazine reports the model might efficaciously be replaced by way of a sporty new halo car dubbed the e-tron gtr. rumored to debut in 2022, the version will reportedly have a 95 kwh stable-state battery which powers 3 electric vehicles that produce a blended output of 670 hp (500 kw / 680 playstation ). this would allow the car to boost up from zero-sixty two mph (0-a hundred km/h) in a touch over seconds. the ones are a few amazing numbers and so it the quoted variety of 300 miles (483 km) – almost a one hundred miles (161 km) greater than e-tron crossover. the sports activities automobile is also rumored to have a wireless charging capability, however there’s no word on how long the recharging method might take just like the e-tron gt, the e-tron gtr would be “primarily based closely at the porsche taycan’s j1 platform.” the report doesn’t pass into specifics, but says the model will have an aluminum monocoque chassis and all-wheel force. the report is genuinely thrilling, however it ought to be interested by a grain of salt. volkswagen has previously said a strong-nation battery manufacturing line must be equipped via 2025, however mass production likely received’t occur until sometime among 2025 and 2030. that being said, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard approximately audi making plans to construct a high-performance electric car. lower back in january, audi chairman bram schot reportedly showed plans to put the pb18 e-tron concept into restrained manufacturing. the idea is essentially equal to the rumored e-tron gtr as it featured a strong-country battery and three electric powered automobiles that could produce up to 764 hp (570 kw / 775 ps). this enabled the auto to accelerate from zero-sixty two mph (zero-one hundred km/h) in “scarcely more” than seconds. My Lunch With Stefano: Lamborghini CEO Teases Future Products
I sat down for lunch with Lamborghini’s CEO, Stefano Domenicali, on the patio at the Polo Lounge inside the still-posh Beverly Hills Hotel. Domenicali was swinging through Los Angeles after visiting Australia (sales are up!) before heading back to Lambo HQ in Sant’Agata, Italy. One day only, and I was lucky enough to enjoy lunch with the man himself. But I should stress, we were eating lunch, talking shop about Lamborghini of course, but also the car world in general. I wish I could report back all the off-the-record comments Stefano made, but what’s below will have to suffice.
Two Doors, Four Seats
The Lamborghini Asterion concept, a two-seat GT design study from 2014
Lamborghini is still seriously considering a fourth model. This yet unnamed car would be a GT, 2+2 model, aimed at the Ferrari GTC4Lusso. The real question is chassis. Does Lamborghini go with Volkswagen Group’s MSB chassis that underpins the Porsche Panamera and Bentley Continental GT, or does it use PPE (Premium Platform Electric) from the Taycan and Audi E-Tron GT Concept? Domenicali is taking a wait-and-see attitude, saying that he’s not sure if pure electric will ever be sexy enough to be a Lamborghini. Maybe, maybe not.
Rambo Lambo 2
Lamborghini has also looked into the feasibility of doing a hardcore off-roader, a true LM002 successor. As the brand is well aware, Jeep Wrangler sales are stronger than ever (the 15th best-selling vehicle in America in 2018), and there’s already a yearlong wait to get the new AMG G 63. Because of the Rambo Lambo, Sant’Agata has the authenticity needed to bring a near-military off-roader to market. Also driving their interest is the fact that values of LM002s are through the roof. Not only that, but customers are approaching Lamborghini hoping to buy the modern classic. However, as only 347 were ever built, the demand massively outstrips the supply. Domenicali would not comment past the fact that Lamborghini has looked into the feasibility of such a vehicle.
Row, Row, Row Your Lambo
Lamborghini looked into manual transmissions for special editions of both the Huracán and Aventador. Porsche has proved conclusively to Volkswagen Group that there’s a market for high-end sports cars with row-your-own transmissions. Specifically, the reintroduction of the GT3 manual (with more than a 50 percent take rate) and the surprise success of the GT3 Touring. The problem for Lamborghini is cost.
Even if it charged a $25,000 premium for, say, the Aventador, and offered 200 units, that $5 million would not come even kind of close to covering the cost of converting the Aventador’s ISR seven-speed box from auto to manual. Also, because the Aventador is mechanically unique, there’s not a properly sized manual lying around that Lambo could just plop in.
What about the Huracán, you ask? True, the Huracán is based on the Audi R8, and the R8 used to have a manual transmission (as did the Huracán’s predecessor, the Gallardo)—just use that! No such luck, as that lovely gated six-speed is long out of production and would cost too much to be viable. How does Porsche do it? How can the GT3 offer a manual as a no-cost option? Easy. That particular gearbox is an old racing box. It’s been in production for years, if not decades. The tooling’s all paid for.
Bottom line—although Lamborghini would like to offer manual transmissions to its customers, it simply can’t.
Best Year Yet Until the Next
Lamborghini sold nearly 6,000 cars last year, and it’s on track to sell 8,000-plus in 2019. I remember when 4,000 raging bulls was cause for celebration. Food for thought: Ferrari production is capped at 7,000 units. Why so many Lambos? Urus. Demand has been even higher than expected for Lambo’s second-ever SUV. While kids on Instagram take great pleasure in saying it looks like a Pontiac Aztek, nearly everyone who has driven one (hi, Mom!) realizes what a serious performance beast it is. Whatever the final tally is, Domenicali would like to cap production at around that number. To build more would dilute the brands’ appeal.
