big thing about the terror is how it treats every single death as a massive tragedy. from the death of david young in the first episode through every horror that follows every death scene is given enormous weight in the narrative, it never once feels like anyone is expendable despite most of the cast really not mattering that much. it's such a good choice to make tonally in a show about how these people are simultaneously tools of british colonialism and victims of the indifferent imperial machine.

So, this picture shows up multiple times throughout the movie. It first shows up with Future Leo, who gives it to Casey, only for it to end up in the hands of April and the turtles.

At first glance, the picture looks like it could have been taken at April’s college graduation as she is holding, what appears to be, a college degree.

In that context, this picture makes no sense.

In both timelines, the Krang invaded while April was in college, which means that there is no way that she graduated from college in the future timeline. I’ve heard it said that this inconsistency is possibly a production error.

However, at closer inspection:

April is holding a binder, not a degree.

The picture was not taken at the end of her college experience, but most likely at the beginning. She got accepted, started college, and took a photo with the turtles (her family) to commemorate what could have been her first day at school, hence the Eastlaird binder, most likely purchased from the college bookstore.

Therefore, with this context, the sequence of events that leads up to the photo and its place in both timelines does, indeed, make sense! (Yay!)
