Best Sports Bike You Can Buy
Harley-Davidson FXDR 114
The entry price certainly isn’t cheap. Then again, all-new Harley-Davidson power cruisers don’t come along very often.
Just look at this thing—it has to be one of the toughest-looking new bikes on the market. The FXDR is unique among big Harleys because it’s actually been designed to handle tight corners and switchbacks. Traditional Harleys are known for torque, style, and an easy cruising attitude, but the bikes tend to lack the clearance, suspension, and tires needed for aggressive riding. The Softail-based FXDR 114 changes all that with impressive lean angles, a 43mm inverted fork, and a forward riding position more like a naked standard bike. The 114-cid V-twin is a monster that doles out a solid 119 lb-ft of torque. Good thing there’s a massive 240mm rear tire putting the power down.
Tumblr media
Indian FTR 1200
Indian has scored remarkable successes since the brand’s relaunch in 2013, progress that was built on the back of traditional cruisers with classic riding dynamics. In other words, not the kinds of bikes you’d choose to chase a Ducati into the canyons. But for 2019, Indian finally has a sportier offering, and it’s a stunner.
Based on the company’s off-road FTR750 dirt track racer, the FTR 1200 uses a 1203-cc twin delivering around 120 hp, which is plenty for the bike’s sub-500-lb dry weight. Thanks to a big 43mm inverted front fork, an adjustable monoshock rear suspension, and big Brembo brakes, the FTR 1200 should be a worthy adversary for quite a number of naked sporty bikes.
It’s cool to see Indian taking a big risk to build such a radically different bike for them—and pulling it off big time.
Tumblr media
Kawasaki Z900RS
The great thing about today’s retro bikes is that they only look retro—the technology inside is fully 2018. The Z900RS, which looks like a fresh take on the classic Z1, is based around the Z900, a contemporary Japanese sport bike. The 948-cc inline four-cylinder is a torquey beast, so the RS would be at home on just about any road. That big thickly padded seat is comfy and sits 32.8 inches off the ground. Similarly, the bike’s ergonomics create a very natural riding position.
This is the kind of bike that can do it all: run canyons hard on the weekend, commute daily to work, or take a quick ride to the grocery store. About that last one: The Z900RS has handy tie-down attachment points to make sure that 12-pack stays with you all the way home. And for those that want a bit more style, there’s a café version with a tiny fairing up front that runs $11,499.
Tumblr media
BMW G310GS
BMW knows how to make a proper adventure bike. The company has been building its off-road-worthy dual sport bikes since the early 1980s. It invented the segment, and today’s BMW bikes define it. So who better than BMW to build an affordable adventure machine?
The new GS is based upon BMW’s G310R road bike and shares that model’s single-cylinder engine. This bike gets its off-road chops from its taller, long travel (7.1-inch front fork) suspension and 19-inch front wheel and tire. But even with a high rider suspension, the BMW’s reasonably low 32.9-inch seat height will keep it appealing for riders of smaller stature. For those that want an even lower ride, BMW offers an even lower 32.3-inch seat. And because it’s a BMW, ABS is standard.
Tumblr media
2019 Honda Monkey
If there was a prize for “affordable retro radness” this year, it would most certainly go to Honda’s new Monkey.
Classic minibikes from the late ’60s and early ’70s have had a quiet renaissance over the past few years, so Honda thought, Why not bring back an update of the company’s original Z50 “monkey bike”? This new one is based on the bones of Honda’s popular tiny tyke Grom sport bike and uses a 125-cc engine backed by a four-speed transmission.
At just 231 lbs and using tiny 12-inch wheels, the little Monkey is as light as it is nimble. It’s pure fun to ride and to look at thanks to authentic retro touches like that big puffy padded seat. The Monkey could be the perfect, old-school urban runabout for those that think today’s electric shared scooters are for the birds.

2021 Aprilia Tuono 660: Costs, Facts, And Figures | HotCars
Tumblr media
Before Ducati came forth with its V4 engine in 2018, Aprilia had already been acing this particular engine format in their well-known RSV4 and Tuono V4 from 2008. But now they have got trimmed it down plus brought out a parallel-twin motor after a long time. The 2021 Aprilia Tuono 660 packages a new engine that has been constructed on the same architecture as the quite rare V4 engine.
The 2021 Aprilia Tuono 660 is their nude foray in to the middle-weight class and is unlike any of the competitors. For your supersport bunch, we have the particular Aprilia RS 660 , but the Tuono is an unique task that looks all the more just like a supersport but is an able tourer. In fact , Aprilia can also be offering a bunch of touring-centric components with this cool Italian for making things clear.
With an all-new engine, exact and nimble rideability, simple ergonomics, and possibly the best electronic devices package in its class, the particular 2021 Aprilia Tuono 660 is clearly the one to buy, despite being a niche item. It locks horns contrary to the likes of Triumph Road Triple R, the upcoming KTM 890 Duke , Kawasaki Z900, and Ducati Monster to mention a few.

It also comes in a few shades - Apex Dark, Lava Red, and the buzz-worthy Acid Gold.
You will have to shell out an additional one hundred dollar if you want this cooler color. For the pricing, this Aprilia happens to be the only solid photo in this class which will quickly be having a tough face-off from the upcoming 2021 KTM 890 Duke that eliminates the KTM 790 Fight it out.

The 2021 Aprilia Tuono 660 is run by the same 659cc parallel-twin engine used in the RS 660. Both the engines depend on the iconic V4 motor that is used in the 2021 Aprilia RSV4 . But the performance provides dipped a bit to ninety five hp and we expect the particular torque to be the same. The particular drop in power is a result of a different final drive within the Tuono 660 as compared to the supersport brother.
The most versatile aspect of this particular motorcycle is its functionality graph. The 2021 Tuono 660 has a wider rpm curve that gives it the meaty low and mid-range. This is an aspect that is missing in the motorcycles of this course. Morover, its slick 6-Speed manual gearbox makes driving this Italian a beautiful matter.
Tumblr media
Among the visible aspects that distinguish Tuono 660 from the RS 660 is its level and raised handle-bar. The particular RS has a clip-on towards a more aggressive stance. The Tuono 660 is by far the coolest looking middle-weight tourer . The seat elevation remains unchanged at thirty-two. 3 in. and is useful for riders with a broader height range.
The rider's triangle is usually well-preserved and Aprilia has generated its touring machine to maintain the rider fatigue-free for the longer duration. But which is not the case with the pillion, since comfort has been compromised for any sleeker rear profile.

The motorbike is agile, thanks to the well-tuned Kayaba upside-down forks in advance and mono-shock at the back. It comes with Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa 2 tires that will help keep this streetfighter adhered to the ground.
Tumblr media
Despite having a good upright stance, the Tuono 660 is not shy in order to lean it out. Brake is also commendable and is looked after by Brembo with double 320 mm discs beforehand and 220 mm one disc at the rear. This gets 17-in. aluminum metal wheels that save important weight and adds up to the nimble character.
Tumblr media
Italians never get it wrong with designs and the Aprilia Tuono 660 is as awesome looking as its fully faired brother. There are a few differences in appears as compared to the RS 660. The front cowling is split up into 2 here, for a nude look and the raised handle-bar is wide and results in its streetfighter appeal.

CURTA O CANAL DO JORNAL DO CARRO NO YOUTUBE
Africa Twin surgiu no off-road

Review: The 2018 Kawasaki Z900RS
We’ve been salivating over the new Kawasaki Z900RS since it said konnichiwa at the Tokyo Motor Show. The new Zed has a clear lineage back to the iconic Z1, and marks the rebirth of the Universal Japanese Motorcycle.
It’s also a damned attractive bike that promises strong on-road performance. So I’ve just spent a day ripping through the sun-baked canyons of Malibu on a Z900RS, 30 miles west of downtown LA, to see if Kawasaki have delivered the goods. And I’m happy to confirm there are reasons to keep drooling.
First off, this bike is gorgeous, especially in the metal. The depth of color in the Candytone Brown lacquer is lost in pixels alone. Get up close and personal and it’s exquisite.
The tones change from near black to a warm Sarsaparilla, depending on how the light hits. And the orange accents score top marks, too. Even if you have never seen a Z1 before (cough, millennials, cough), the new Z900RS makes a compelling argument for brown.
That beauty runs deeper than the paint. Touches like the machined fins on the inline-four engine, the low teardrop style tank and that ducktail rear-end are clear retro hallmarks; Kawasaki has paid attention to the miscues of some other OEMs.
It’s a bike that is voluptuous and curvy from above, while maintaining a clean and flat stance.
Of course, the RS isn’t immune to aesthetic criticisms. Purists have been quick to comment that spoked wheels, twin outboard shocks and a Z1-style 4-2-4 exhaust would pay better homage.
And I tend to agree, at least with the last bit. The thrice-buffed headers look the business, but the Euro-4 compliant pre-chamber hiding below is an eyesore. And that silencer, although slim and shiny, does nothing to add visual personality.
Presumably, the aftermarket will provide solutions in due time, but you probably won’t want to change the noise it makes. Full credit goes to Kawi’s engineers for tuning the RS’s exhaust note: At idle she’s a throaty beast, without being loud. But at full boil, the 948cc mill screams with an appreciable wail. And the overrun is even better. She burbles with just the right amount of anger and ferocity, making lips curl and hair stand up in salute.
Combine that with intake noise from the shortened downdraft throttle bodies, and the Z900RS eggs you on with its huffing and puffing.
Acceleration is quick and linear. The re-tuned mill, pulled from the Z900, delivers its oomph lower in the rev range and climbs quickly to its peak. But I warn you, fuelling is abrupt.
Modulating the throttle through tight, twisty and especially bumpy bits of canyon country was a touch frustrating. The Z900 is praised for a silky smooth digital throttle, but the RS’s behaves more like a light switch. A few of us journos surmised that this could be fixed with a Power Commander—but a reflash from the factory would do worlds for the confidence of buyers who prefer not to tinker.
That’s a shame, because the handling deserves to be exploited. Underpinning the Z900RS is a modified version of the Z900’s street fighting trellis frame. In RS guise the upper rails sit narrower, to hide beneath the tank. And the stance has been flattened, thanks to a lower rear subframe.
There’s also a revised triple clamp to reduce trail. Riding on those cast, 17-inch hoops the RS is a nimble and predictable machine.
Before heading into the canyons, we battled the congested postcard that is the Pacific Coast Highway. But the upright, neutral riding position made it easy to see where and when to split traffic. The reach to the wide bars is relaxed, and with a wink and a nudge, the new Zed will wiggle its way towards open road.
Once there, brace yourself for the surge. Grab a mitt-full of throttle and the front wheel will lift, sniff the air briefly before touching down, and then you’re gone. The needle on the analog tach sweeps quickly to double digits; the equally attractive clock on its left does the same.
A small digital readout between the two delivers info on gearing, fuel, traction control and trip related metrics. Kawi worked hard on crafting gauges that mix the schools of old and new, and they’ve nailed it. I’ll take these over iPad-sized TFTs any day.
With only a quick glance, your brain understands the message your retinas deliver: You’re speeding.
Have no fear, though. The twin radial mount, 4-pot binders up front will reign you in with just a finger on the lever. An upgrade over the Z900, they are communicative and easy to modulate.
The rear brake is smooth too: When the twists started to tighten in the upper reaches of Mulholland, I had no fear of letting my right foot work as the only anchor. And when I got a little more aggressive than my abilities should permit, the ABS never kicked in and the rear never kicked out.
And then my left peg carved out a chunk of California asphalt. Under normal riding conditions, when you’re not trying to chase down ex-racers turned journalists, the suspension set-up would be near ideal.
Maybe I should have taken the time to dial in a bit more preload. I’m guessing that (and some post-lunch lethargy) was the culprit for firing debris at the dudes behind me. Sorry, lads.
For aggressive riding, the ergos on the Zed may be a bit too relaxed. I actually prefer the triangle offered by the XSR900, which is a touch more ‘forward’ than the Z900RS. But Kawi’s Retro-Sport is the more versatile and comfortable bike by far.
If I lived in California and had this playground at my disposal, I’d consider a move to lower bars—which the Cafe Racer variant will wear. And swap to the lower, ‘Ergo-Fit’ seat that Kawasaki already has in its catalog. It has a deeper groove with more of a butt-stop, to help get the weight up front.
While perusing the factory bolt-ons, I’d also add the passenger grab bar and a set of the proper Z1-style tank emblems to my cart, too. I get why Kawasaki chose to use their modern script on the stock Z900RS—it is a modern bike after all—but applaud them for offering up the classic badging option.
While we’re on the topic of changes, there there’s one more that caught my eye. The mounts for the front mudguard are a sci-fi looking, intertwined set of aluminum lumps. They’d look as cool as chips on the futuristic Z900, but on the RS they’re just wrong. A chrome mudguard mounted with hidden hardware, please.
But apart from those cosmetic changes, and sorting out the fuelling and fitting a proper looking exhaust, there’s little to complain about.
The Z900RS is a lively, capable machine that can be ridden comfortably, with a style that has raised the bar for modern retros: It’s a true UJM, through and through. And priced as it is, even after the $200 premium for the Candytone paint, it makes a compelling case to skip past the Triumph and Yamaha showrooms and into a Kawasaki one.
The Z900RS is available at dealers now. Two colors are available, including Metallic Flat Spark Black and Candytone Brown/Candytone Orange. ABS and KTC (Kawasaki Traction Control) are standard. Prices in the US will range from $10,999 to $11,299.
