123D Catch, by Autodesk, allows you to use 2D photographs, taken at various angles, to create a 3D model that you can edit, export, and 3D print. This process is called photogrammetry. There are 3 different versions of 123D Catch, all of them are free.

123D Catch Online

The online version allows you to upload 20 to 40 photos. Then the images are processed and automatically turned into a 3D model in the cloud. Once finished, you can orbit, pan and zoom your model with the view tools. You can also prepare your model for fabrication with cleanup and healing tools. Then export an STL or OBJ file for 3D printing.

123D Catch Mobile App

The 123D Catch mobile app for your iPhone or iPad is similar to the online version. The big difference is you can use your mobile device to take the pictures and manipulate your 3D model. After taking the pictures of your subject, you upload the images to the Autodesk servers where they are processed and turned into a 3D model. This process generally takes a few minutes. Autodesk then returns the 3D model to your mobile device where it can be viewed, cleaned up and stored. You can also 3D print models taken with your mobile device.

123D Catch for your PC

123D Catch also comes as a download for your PC. The download isn't available for Mac at this time. The desktop program is more robust than the other two versions and offers more features. With this software, you can create animations, use the 3D print feature to optimize your models for 3D printing, and more.

All of the 123D Catch applications are available at https://www.autodesk.com/solutions/123d-apps. You will be required to set up a username and password with Autodesk in order to fully use 123D Catch, regardless of what version you choose. When you sign in with Autodesk, you will also have access to and be able to participate in the Autodesk community.

As a member of the community, you can share files with other members and view and download their creations.

Once you export a file from 123D Catch, you can import the model into one of Autodesks' other applications including 123D Design and 123D Make where you can edit and make changes to the object.

123D Catch is one of the easiest ways to create a 3D model from a real object. And you don't need experience in CAD to prepare the model for 3D printing.

Actually, Cait and Sam TOLD us repeatedly ever since early 2015 that they weren’t a couple--and they SHOWED us as early as autumn 2014 that there were other romantic partners in their lives

Way back in December 2017, extreme shippers (ES) were up in arms because Diana G. once again said that Sam and Cait weren’t a couple and that they “both have significant others who are not each other.”

A major ES tried to turn this around at the time by saying that “everyone EXCEPT Sam and Cait” have told the fandom that they are dating other people:

“For the last almost two years it’s been shoved down our throats that they’re with other people by everyone EXCEPT Sam and Cait. So thanks Diana. I won’t believe a word you or anyone else says about their relationship status.”

Well actually, even in the years before Cait announced her engagement to Tony, both Cait and Sam TOLD and/or SHOWED the fandom that they weren’t together and that they were in fact with other people. ES chose to ignore these messages or to rationalize them away--to their own detriment.

This post will show how from October 2014 to March 2018 Sam and Cait were clearly communicating to the fandom that they weren’t together. Unfortunately, IMHO it is the conspiracies spread by the leaders of the extreme shipping faction that are mostly responsible for so many fans during those years (and afterward) choosing to disregard the evidence that the ship wasn’t real that has been right in front of their faces.

This is a long post, so the rest can be found under the cut.

I’m starting this updated version of this post with the ways Sam TOLD us and SHOWED us early on that he wasn’t with Cait because former shippers and Cait stans often give credit to Cait for having denied the SC relationship but not to Sam. So I want to emphasize that Sam also provided the fandom with a lot of messages early on that the ship wasn’t real--both through his words and actions.

What Sam TOLD Us: Feb. 2015 - Oct. 2017

FEBRUARY 27, 2015: In an interview in Channel Guide Magazine, Sam said this about Cait:

“She’s a lot of fun. We hang out when we’re there [in Scotland], and we hang out when we’re in Los Angeles, as well. We went on a hike a few weeks ago. Yeah, it’s great. I’m very lucky. She’s a friend.” [emphasis added]

APRIL 2, 2015: Sam told People in an interview that he and Cait

“obviously just had a really long period of time off the show, but we caught up a couple of times in L.A. and went hiking together....It’s really nice just to catch up with her,” he added of meeting up with his on-screen wife. “I’m glad she’s doing so well.” [emphasis added]

MAY 7, 2015: Sam indicated in an interview with Susan Swarbrick in The Herald Scotland that he “might be” in a relationship:

“He is coy regarding the status of his love life off-screen (’I might be,’ is his response when asked whether he's in a relationship).” [emphasis added]

Most likely the “might be” was reference to Abbie because Sam also clarified that he wasn’t in a relationship with Cait:

“Some fans are holding out for a real life love story [with Cait], but Heughan deftly bats the suggestion away. "It is very sweet that they think that and the job has certainly brought us closer," he says.” [emphasis added]

NOVEMBER 27, 2015: Sam does a Gold Derby video interview where he says this about Cait:

“And yeah, we do hang out sort of personally as well.” [emphasis added]

“Hang out sort of” isn’t exactly a strong statement that they spent a lot of time together outside of filming.

JANUARY 8, 2016: And of course, Sam went through the extraordinary measure of doing the stand alone interview (the KDS/ IFH video) to DENY that he was with Cait romantically:

JANUARY 10, 2016: In another interview published in The Sunday Times on Sam indicated he had recently ended a long-distance relationship:

“’I was in a relationship, but it’s tough.’ He shrugs and looks away. ‘It’s difficult to hold something down when you’re away so much. You end up just sharing facts that mean nothing to each other over empty phone calls. It’s a struggle.’” [emphasis added]

The above interview happened shortly after Sam’s reported breakup with Abbie in December 2015. Abbie lived in London, which is quite a distance from Glasgow. In contrast, Cait was working with Sam nearly every day at that time. Sam could only have meant Abbie and not Cait in that interview.

ARTICLES BASED ON PRESS RELEASE: Feb. - April 2017: Of course, Sam officially came out with Mackenzie as his girlfriend during Oscar weekend 2017 through a press release used by an article in Just Jared (02.25.17). Information based on that press release was also apparently used in articles in US Weekly (04.01.17), Hollywood Life (04.01.17) and New York Magazine (04.02.17). (There were many other publications that mentioned they were dating during the time that they were together, the ones mentioned above were among the first to do so.)

Although Sam was not quoted in these articles, undoubtedly Sam had to approve the press release that his PR team put out about this--so the press release was an indirect confirmation statement by Sam that he and Mackenzie were a couple.

July 21, 2017: In an interview with Lynette Rice for EW, Sam is heard in the VIDEO once again denying a relationship with Cait.

LR: “You guys are so good at engaging the fans on twitter. Can you tell me have you had a really awkward moment with an Outlander fan that you’d care to divulge right now?”

SH: “We did get a letter from a fan who was very upset that myself and Caitriona are obviously not together. They were very upset that we were lying to them all this time.” [emphasis added]

October 22, 2017: In a Harper’s Bazaar interview with Julie Kosin, Sam finally acknowledges that MacKenzie is his girlfriend. Kosin writes:

“The next time I meet with Heughan, it’s a warm, late-September day a few weeks after his photo shoot...he’s visibly more relaxed now that the Outlander press tour is over, even though he’s stayed just as busy: a five-day vacation in the south of France with his girlfriend, actress MacKenzie Mauzy.

[....]

“Heughan also manages to keep his personal life relatively private. He doesn’t divulge much about Mauzy, other than the fact he met her at an industry event, and that she’s had to deal with a bit of social media trolling from his fans. ‘Initially, it is upsetting but, ultimately, it doesn't mean anything. It feels like a schoolyard thing.’” [emphasis added]

Sam thanked Julie Kosin on twitter and also tweeted the article and commented positively about it on twitter on 10.23.17. So basically, Sam endorsed the interview and its contents--thereby affirming he had told the interviewer that MacKenzie was his girlfriend.

Given all of the above, we can see that Sam TOLD us (even as early as 2015-2017--before Cait and Tony’s engagement) that he wasn’t dating Cait and that he had been romantically involved with other women.

What Sam “SHOWED” Us: Oct. 2014 - March 2018

Over the years, we have seen Sam out with various WOMEN who weren’t Cait. That he allowed himself to be photographed with these women was also his way of letting us know he was involved with them in some capacity (although with Amy it looks like it was just a flirty friendship or at most FWB).

In particular, Sam went out of his way to acknowledge both Abbie and MacKenzie (his two longest term relationships) by taking them to important events where they were photographed together. For instance, we saw Abbie with Sam on the RED CARPET in Monte Carlo for the Festival de Télévision de Monte-Carlo. We also saw them as they arrived at their HOTEL in Monte Carlo.

And of course we have numerous photos of Sam and MacKenzie together as a couple (see POST1, POST2). In terms of events, Sam took MacKenzie with him to BAFTA Scotland 2016, a 2017 pre-Oscar party, the 2017 EW SDCC party, the Refinery29 Third Annual 29Rooms: Turn It Into Art event, the Harper’s Bazaar ICONS party, the 2018 Vanity Fair Oscar party, and the Jimmy Kimmel Oscar afterparty. Furthermore, on 07.30.17 Sam posted a photo on both IG and twitter of himself and MacKenzie together at the F1 Grand Prix in Budapest, which was another confirmation of their relationship.

The ES spent years spreading rumors that all of these photos were just PR or were “photoshopped.” 🙄 They of course also ignored the candid photos of Abbie at Sam’s 35th family birthday party, where she was the only “friend” of Sam’s in attendance (and no, she wasn’t a “family friend”--see POST). They also ignored photos of Sam and MacKenzie at her brother’s wedding (like MacKenzie was going to bring a “fake boyfriend” to a family wedding 🤦🏻‍♀️) and other candid photos of the two of them.

What Cait TOLD Us: March 2015 - August 2017

MARCH 8, 2015: Cait stated in an interview in the Independent.ie:

“I'm very close to my co-star Sam, but we're definitely not a couple.” [emphasis added]

MARCH 30, 2015: Luaine Lee, a syndicated entertainment writer for the Tribune News Service wrote did an interview with Cait where she wrote:

“Balfe…insists she doesn’t date actors . ‘I haven’t and I won’t. I have friends who are fantastic actors, but I think two people in a relationship who have this up-and-down career, for me it wouldn’t work. That’s not to take away from lovely actor men. Being handsome is fine, but don’t marry somebody who has to make money off their handsomeness.’” [emphasis added]

APRIL 2, 2015: Cait told People:

“We’re really good friends....We’re both going through the same experience, so that’s great, we both really understand that. I hope I’m as good support as he is to me.” [emphasis added]

MAY 17, 2015: In an interview in the Irish Independent by Donal Lynch Cait clarified that she was dating someone who was not in the film/ TV industry.

“After a period of being single, she has a boyfriend again now - he’s a ‘civilian’, she says, ie not involved in the movie industry.” [emphasis added]

MAY 28, 2015: Cait stated in the Los Angeles Times:

“We’re not dating.” [emphasis added]

JANUARY 8, 2016: And of course, Cait also went through the extraordinary measure of doing the stand alone VIDEO interview (the KDS/ IFH video) to DENY that she was with Sam romantically:

MAY 4, 2016: In a SiriusXM interview with Bevelations’ Bevy Smith Cait said she was dating a man but didn’t want to talk about it because

“some things are for me.” [emphasis added]

JUNE 5, 2016: In an interview published in The Sunday Times by Ana Kinsella, Cait clarified that she was not dating Sam and that she was seeing someone else.

The on-screen liaisons have sparked the inevitable rumours that there might be a real-life ‘SamCait’ relationship....

It’s a testament to the chemistry between the two, but is she tired of explaining that there is nothing between them? She delivers a chuckle that seems a tad exasperated. “It gets a bit … It’s fine, but you say it so many times, and people are still, like, ‘No way!’ Really, we’re not.”

That’s a firm no, then. Balfe says she’s seeing someone at the moment, but that it’s not always easy balancing a relationship with her busy schedule.[emphasis added]

Cait then talks about how fans can be intrusive:

“And it can be quite hurtful — not to me, because I signed up for this, but to the people that you’re with — and that’s the one thing where you’re, like, ‘Really? That’s not necessary.’” [emphasis added]

This further indicates that Cait’s significant other was not a celebrity because he hadn’t “signed up for this.” Therefore, in this interview Cait made it clear that her boyfriend wasn’t Sam and that he wasn’t a celebrity.

August 3, 2017: In a METRO interview, Cait was asked whether she “missed Sam” when “not filming” and she said:

”A healthy break from each other is sometimes good! We’re great mates and we check in every now and then but he goes off to his life and I go off to mine.” [emphasis added]

When asked about how she “handles” the “speculation” that she is dating Sam she said:

“There’s nothing to handle. We aren’t and we’ve always said that we’re not together. It’s nice that fans believe in the story but that’s not the reality. If it’s harmless speculation, that’s fine, but sometimes people take it a little further and can get abusive to the people who are in our lives — that’s when it crosses the line. But it’s rare and in this industry you need a thick skin.” [emphasis added]

Given all of the above, we can see that Cait TOLD us (even way back in 2015 and 2016) that she wasn’t dating Sam and that she had been romantically involved with someone else.

What Cait “SHOWED” Us: Dec. 2014 - Jan. 2018

And of course, Cait has appeared with Tony in many PHOTOS at many events (see POST1, POST2, POST3).

Even celebrity photo companies like Rex Features started to name Tony in photos with Cait as early as February 2017:

THE ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCEMENT

JANUARY 7, 2018: Finally, Cait announced to the world through People Magazine that she and Tony were engaged.

In all these ways Cait SHOWED us early on that she was dating Tony over the course of many years. Anyone who chose to ignore all of that evidence and to only focus on the “heart eyes” Cait gave Sam during PR events and behind-the-scenes PR photoshoots was choosing to fool themselves into believing the ship was real.

The ES chose to ignore all this information and to continue to believe in their faux ship. And years later when Cait married Tony, many of them whined that Sam and Cait “led them on” for years.

But the reality is that even way back in the first years of the show, Sam and Cait both TOLD and SHOWED the fandom that they weren’t together. The ES chose to ignore those messages or worked very hard to explain them away.

The rest of us paid attention and realized most of the playful flirtiness between Sam and Cait was emphasized by them to sell the show and to provide fan service.

Former ES continue to be angry with Sam or Cait or both Sam and Cait for “leading them on.” But the reality is, they led themselves on by refusing to consider ALL the ways that Sam and Cait TOLD and SHOWED the fandom that they weren’t together.

Event: COVID-19 Situation Report and Reminders

On July 23, Panama’s Ministry of Health (MINSA) confirmed 56,817 cases of COVID-19.

The Municipality of Arraijan decreed a temporary dry law on weekends, starting July 24. The dry law runs from 7:00pm each Friday and continues until Monday at 5:00am.

On July 21, the Government of Panama announced total quarantine in the provinces of Bocas del Toro, Colon, and Chiriqui on Saturdays and Sundays. The curfew from Monday through Friday remains from 7pm until 5am.

Beginning Monday, July 27, businesses in Los Santos, Herrera, and Cocle provinces will be allowed to open businesses of car sales, private construction, and professional and administrative services. All businesses must meet biosecurity requirements.

Effective July 17, MINSA established new quarantine hours for the Panama and Panama Oeste provinces. Total quarantine begins on Friday at 7:00pm and ends on Monday at 5:00am. There is also a curfew from 7:00pm until 5:00am Monday through Thursday. Movement in these provinces remains restricted based on gender and ID number. Gender restrictions allow for movements as follows:

Women: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday

Men: Tuesday and Thursday.

These movement restrictions allow for a two-hour window, intended only for essential purchases, based on the last digit of each individual’s cedula number or passport number if an individual is not a citizen of Panama. U.S. Citizens in Panama should always carry their passports, and their Panamanian cedula if they have one. The two-hour windows are as follows:

Last number is 7 – 6:30 – 8:30am

Last number is 8 – 7:30 – 9:30am

Last number is 9 – 8:30 – 10:30am

Last number is 0 – 9:30 – 11:30am

Last number is 1 – 12:30 – 2:30pm

Last number is 2 – 1:30 – 3:30pm

Last number is 3 – 2:30 – 4:30pm

Last number is 4 – 3:30 – 5:30pm

Last number is 5 – 4:30 – 6:30pm

Last number is 6 – 5:30 – 7:00pm

There is a special window for those over 60 years old, regardless of cedula or passport numbers, between 7:00am and 10:00am (gender restrictions still apply).

Normal exceptions apply for holders of permission letters (salvoconductos).

Parents may take one child per family outside near their home or in the social areas of their apartment building during the two-hour window of the accompanying parent.

Exercises such as bicycling, running, and skating are permissible if done within one kilometer of your home, with a mask, and inside your two-hour window.

Private sector employees are required to enter their places of employment by no later than 8:00am. Public sector employees are required to enter by no later than 9:00am.

All other provinces have a curfew from 7 pm to 5 am, Monday through Sunday. Children are also free to move about from 4 pm to 7 pm, accompanied by a parent, guardian, or caretaker. The use of masks and social distancing are still required. This new flexibility does not permit social group activities, cultural events, festivals, visits to the beach, contact sports, or any other activity that violates social distancing. The Government of Panama still maintains security checkpoints on the roads and prohibits most interprovincial travel.

MINSA reminds citizens and residents of Panama that staying at home, not touching your face, and washing your hands frequently are the best means of prevention against COVID-19. It also requires the use of masks, even homemade ones, when in public.

The Embassy encourages everyone to prepare accordingly. Take the opportunity to stock up on any medicines and food supplies you may need to shelter in place in your homes for an extended period of time.

On July 17, the Government of Panama extended the suspension of international commercial passenger and domestic charter flights, originally announced on March 26, for an additional 30 days beginning July 22. The previous exceptions for cargo, humanitarian, medical supplies, medical evacuation, and vaccines remain in place.

On July 8, MINSA announced that Green Frog brand alcohol gel has been pulled from the market due to the content of toxic methanol. To report the sale or distribution of this product, call 512-9163 or 512-9170.

Effective June 8, Panama’s National Immigration Service opened and started a 90-day period during which foreigners may submit applications to maintain or adjust their immigration status in Panama without incurring fines. This applies to applicants whose immigration status expired between March 13 and June 7. For more details see www.migración.gob.pa.

On June 2, 2020, MINSA published a resolution stating that anyone leaving their residence must be wearing a mask that covers their nose and mouth. Any individual not wearing a mask is subject to possible detention and fine.

On June 1, the Government of Panama opened the second economic block. For more details about the Government of Panama’s plan to gradually reopen the economy, and the economic sectors opened in each block, see the infographic in this tweet from MINSA, also available with English translations on the Embassy’s COVID-19 Information page. The Government of Panama will evaluate every two weeks, but the date for opening additional business blocks remains unknown.

On March 19, the U.S. Department of State issued a Global Level 4 Health Advisory, advising U.S. citizens to avoid all international travel due to the global impact of COVID-19. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a Level 3 Global COVID-19 Outbreak Notice.

The Embassy is working on evacuation options via commercial humanitarian flights for those U.S. Citizens wishing to depart Panama. Please express your interest in consideration for potential evacuation flights by emailing: [email protected]. U.S. citizens who live in the United States should arrange for immediate return to the United States, unless they are prepared to remain abroad for an indefinite period.

On March 17, U.S. Embassy Panama suspended routine consular services. For emergency American Citizens Services, including emergency passports, please email [email protected]. For emergency visa services, email [email protected].

On March 14, the Department of State authorized the departure from any diplomatic or consular post in the world of U.S. personnel and family members who have been medically determined to be at higher risk of a poor outcome if exposed to COVID-19.

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak the Peace Corps has reduced/evacuated all Volunteers from Panama.

Schools and universities are closed nation-wide. Sporting events, festivals, and all gatherings larger than 50 people have been banned. Visit the local government COVID-19 website for updated information.

U.S. government personnel are restricted from non-essential domestic and international travel.
