how many versions of cats were released on cd? I have the obc and olc versions so I was wondering if you knew what other versions there were, and if possible where to find them :D many thanks!
Hello Anon,
There are eighteen cast recordings:
Original London 1981 (both 2CD full recording and 1CD highlights)
Original Broadway 1982 (both 2CD full recording and 1CD highlights)
Vienna 1983 (1CD highlights)
Budapest 1984 (1CD highlights)*
Australia (Sydney) 1985 (2CD full recording)
Japan (Osaka) 1985 (2CD full recording)
Hamburg 1986 (2CD full recording)
Amsterdam 1987 (1CD highlights)
Paris 1989 (2CD full recording)
Japan (Nagoya) 1989 (2CD full recording)
Mexico 1991 (1CD highlights)
Warsaw 2004 (1CD highlights)*
Prague 2004 (1CD highlights)*
Dutch Tour 2006 (1CD highlights)
Italian Tour 2009 (1CD highlights)*
Japan (Tokyo) 2019 (2CD full recording)
2019 Movie (1CD highlights)
Vienna Revival 2021 (2CD full recording)
*Non-replica production, if that matters
In addition, there are a number of promo CDs that include a handful of tracks from the casts at the time of release:
Hamburg 1996 (3 track promo, assuming audio taken from 1986 cast recording)
Japan (Tokyo) 1996 (3 track promo)
CATS 1998 Elaine Paige (3 track promo; 'Memory' included, and two other non-CATS songs)
Japan (Osaka) 2001 (4 track promo)
Madrid 2003 (1 track 'Memory' promo)
Moscow 2005 (8 track promo?, two versions; both have 4 instrumental tracks)
Dutch Tour 2006 (3 track promo, audio from 2006 cast recording)
German Tent Tour 2011 (3 track promo)
Of everything listed above, the only ones I do not own are the Madrid 2003 'Memory' promo, Prague 2004 cast recording (a very rare CD that was scrapped before moving to production, only test/promo copies exist), and Moscow 2005 (another very rare promo release, only found with the press packages). Who knows if I can ever get my hands on them.
In terms of where to find them, the OLC, OBC, and Vienna 1983 are still being produced today and can be easily found new online, through Amazon or eBay (or better yet, in-person at your local music store!), and so is the Budapest 1984 CD as well (at least from what I can tell, it is always readily available brand new from Hungary). The 1989 and 2019 Japanese cast recordings are also still readily available brand new from Japan through the Shiki webstore. The 2019 movie highlights is also very easy to find, considering it just was released. The Vienna 2021 recording is still available from the label's website (at 45% right now!), but they only ship within Europe.
All the others can be found second-hand to varying degrees of ease online (i.e., eBay). The 1980s cast recordings are not too difficult, with Hamburg being fairly easily found, but as you start moving into lesser known (and shorter running) productions, it becomes more difficult to find them. Some are extremely uncommon, and I purchased the only copy I have even seen go for sale throughout the years, and I am still waiting for the chance to get the few I do not have.
Happy hunting to you, Anon!

[...] The Way was devised and directed by the actor Michael Sheen. He recruited Sherwood author James Graham to write the script and convinced the documentary film-maker Adam Curtis to step in as an executive producer. But he also cast his home town as the drama’s chief location, the molten core of his tale. “The thing about Port Talbot is that it’s haunted by the ghosts of uprisings past,” he explains, of the bullish 20th-century steel town turned scrappy, post-industrial survivor. “It’s got that dormant rebel spirit in its DNA. The whole town feels like a dragon slumbering in a cave.”
Sheen, like Richard Burton and Anthony Hopkins before him, graduated from Port Talbot to pursue a lucrative acting career in London and Los Angeles. Unlike them, though, he has since circled back and now lives locally. He thinks that the catalyst was the acclaimed 72-hour production of The Passion that he staged in the town back in 2011. It reconnected him with his roots, helped him understand the place in the round.
“So that feeling of coming back to my home town and it also being a set is something I’d experienced before,” he says. “The difference was that this production took longer. This involved me shutting down the high street for a week. Obviously, people aren’t going to be so nice about that. But I knew I had a bit of trust left over from The Passion that I could still use up.” [...]
[...] “Yeah, there’s a strange tone to it,” Sheen agrees. “You don’t know whether you’re in a horror film or a sitcom or a farce. We wanted it to be constantly surprising, to reflect what we’ve all been going through these last 10 years. The absurdity of reality. The situation that we’re in.” [...]
[...] One thing about home: we never truly escape it. It haunts us if we stay and it haunts us if we leave. That’s been Sheen’s experience. It’s what makes The Way feel so personal. “I mean, it’s a big political story,” he says. “But it’s also my story. It taps into all of my feelings about home.” [...]
[...] “I remember reading about how HG Wells set The War of the Worlds in his home town of Woking,” Sheen says. “I think Edgar Wright did the same thing, setting Hot Fuzz in Wells. So there’s a small tradition that I’m now a part of, where people set stories in their home town and then blow it up.” He grins at the thought. “There’s something satisfying about turning the place where you grew up into an apocalyptic bombsite. Destroying your home town. But destroying it with love.”

I don't often talk on here about that many passions outside of D&D but inspired by a very brief exchange by @plethomacademia I want to talk very briefly about my great love for period dramas.
I'm a particular fan of Georgian era and Victorian era (but you know, every gal of a certain age had their brain chemistry altered by the 1995 Pride and Prejudice as Greta Gerwig knows well) so I wanted to talk very, very briefly about some of my absolute favourites (and whether the adaptation or the book has my heart)
Poldark. The books and the 1975 version, not the modern version (I liked the Elizabeth, wasn't a fan of the rest.) Poldark man. It's the ONE. Incredibly romantic, but with a real political agenda too around landowners rights and the changing role of the gentry. The books were hugely formative for me - and there's LOADS, so get them from your local library and enjoy.
The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling. The book, and the delightful 1997 BBC adaptation. I love this book. It's one of those early novels where the narrator just fucking talks about whatever they want. And because it's set in the earlier Georgian era where people did whatever they wanted, it's super sexy. Tom is basically fucking his way through the West Country and London.
Vanity Fair. The book, I've not liked any of the adaptations I've seen. Becky Sharp, beloved. The first real antihero I read. I love her to the ends of the earth. All adaptations try and soften her too much for my liking but the 1998 and 2018 both have good strengths.
The House of Mirth. The book and the 2000's film. Just sublime.
Anna Karenina. One of my favourite books. Western adaptations of Russian novels never quite hit the mark but I have to give a shout out to the 2000 version with Helen McCrory because she really sold the sexual obsession to me in a way others didn't. Man, she was the GOAT.
North and South. The book is great. The adaptation really is superb. Probably the best on the list, one that I would rank just as highly as the novel.
Wives and Daughters. The book was unfinished so they filled in a lot of gaps in the 1999 adaptation starring Justine Waddell (who incidentally was in EVERYTHING for a while? Like every period drama cast her, it was bizarre, and then she just disappeared. This also stars Keeley Hawes who was also in everything, including the very underrated Our Mutual Friend.) I know this one isn't the best, but I'm very fond of it.
Middlemarch. Listen, the book is the greatest book of all time to me. You have to read it at least once. The 1994 adaptation does a great job but it will never be the book, whose strands come together so perfectly, which teaches us so much about the intricate webs of being human.
The Crimson Petal and the White. The book is extraordinary, and the 2011 adaptation tries its best but suffers a bit from some odd casting. Still it's very worth the watch.
I Claudius. Curveball lmao. But it's perfect. Utterly perfect. The cultural impact of the 1976 adaptation can't be understated. A masterpiece.

New article: The Day of the Jackal: Who is Eddie Redmayne?
As he takes on the role of the ultimate assassin, here’s everything you need to know about The Day of the Jackal’s leading man, Eddie Redmayne.
Who is Eddie Redmayne?
Eddie Redmayne, born in 1982, is a British actor born and raised in London, England.
His great-grandfather, Sir Richard Redmayne, was a civil and mining engineer, credited for his work in improving mine safety and for his advocacy of the benefits of a five-day working week on employees, helping make weekends a more standard practice.
Wanting to perform from an early age, he attended Jackie Palmer Stage School from the age of 10 and made his screen debut in an episode of kids TV series Animal Ark in 1998.
He later landed a music scholarship at the esteemed Eton College, attending the same year as Prince William.
Going on to study at Cambridge University, he made his professional debut as an actor at Shakespeare’s Globe in 2003 in a production of Twelfth Night.
From that point on, he established himself as one to watch on the British stage and later pivoted to film, where he took on dramatic roles in films including 2007’s Elizabeth: The Golden Age, The Other Boleyn Girl and The Yellow Handkerchief in 2008, and My Week with Marilyn in 2011.
In 2012, Redmayne grew international acclaim for portraying Marius in Tom Hooper’s Les Miserables, and two years later landed his first Oscar for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in biopic The Theory of Everything.
He continues to act on both stage and screen, earning another Oscar nomination in 2015 for his role of Lili Elbe in The Danish Girl, and leading the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them franchise as Newt Scamander.
The Day of the Jackal is his first major TV role in 12 years.
On stage, he has most recently led revivals of Cabaret in the West End and Broadway, starring as the elusive and mysterious Emcee.
He has been married to wife Hannah Bagshawe since 2014, and together they have two children.
Who does Eddie Redmayne play in The Day of the Jackal?
The Jackal is a notorious assassin who lives a normal double life away from his murderous career path.
A natural chameleon, The Jackal has an innate ability to blend in with a crowd and change his appearance at will, meaning his targets never see him coming.
He is a man who prefers to work alone, considering each of his missions an art form.
Little is known about the character as we’re introduced to him, with his ability to camouflage himself leaving him free to do his work undetected.
The role was portrayed by Edward Fox in the 1973 movie adaptation of the story.
Find out more about the other cast and characters from The Day of the Jackal here.
Where have I seen Eddie Redmayne before?
Eddie Redmayne has become one of the most sought-after British stars in the world, with an enviable list of previous projects.
Here are some of his most notable roles to date:
My Week With Marilyn (2011) - Colin Clark
Based on the memoir of Colin Clark, My Week With Marilyn follows the aspiring filmmaker as he travels to London in 1956 to land a job with the celebrated Laurence Olivier.
Landing a position on The Prince and The Showgirl, Colin finds himself working as an assistant and pseudo-protector of the iconic Marilyn Monroe (played by Michelle Williams), who is having trouble in her personal life and marriage to Arthur Miller.
Across a fateful week, Colin and Marilyn grow closer as the Hollywood star adjusts to England, her current life, and her work with Olivier.
Les Miserables (2012) - Marius Pontmercy
Based on the book by Victor Hugo, Les Miserables is an adaptation of the musical of the same name.
Redmayne plays Marius Pontmercy, a compassionate young man who is a member of the revolutionary group, Friends of the ABC.
He instantly falls in love with Cosette, the adopted daughter of leading man Jean Valjean, upon meeting her.
This causes the heartbreak of his best friend Eponine, who is secretly in love with him.
Devoted to both his cause and his love, Marius is torn on his loyalties as the revolution turns violent and he leads the rebels on the barricades.
The Theory of Everything (2014) - Stephen Hawking
This biographical drama depicts the early life and first marriage of the legendary Stephen Hawking, detailing his work, health, and romantic life.
First meeting Hawking as an astrophysics student at the University of Cambridge, he meets young literature student Jane Wilde and falls in love.
Together, they will navigate the success of his career and his diagnosis with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive form of motor neurone disease that leads to slurred speech, muscle stiffness, and difficulty breathing.
The incurable and eventually fatal disease would eventually confine Hawking to a wheelchair, where he would communicate via a computer for the rest of his life.
The show is based on the 2007 memoir Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen written by Jane, who married Hawking in 1965.
The Theory of Everything is available now on Sky and NOW.
The Danish Girl (2015) - Lili Elbe
The Danish Girl is a story loosely inspired by the lives of Danish painter Lili Elbe – who became one of the first recorded people to have gender-affirming surgery.
Lili’s story inspired the novel of the same title by David Ebershoff.
Starting the story in the mid-1920s, The Danish Girl tracks the awakening of Lili’s transgender identity.
Married to portrait artist Gerda Wegener (Alicia Vikander), Lili comes out as transgender after posing as a woman for one of her wife’s paintings.
The film tracks the barriers Lili had to face in order to get the surgery, and the support Gerda was throughout the transition.
The Danish Girl  is available now on Sky and NOW
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (2016) - Newt Scamander
An extension of the Harry Potter Wizarding World, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them follows Newt Scamander decades before the original Harry Potter series.
Newt is a ‘magizoologist’ who travels the globe to document the wizarding world’s magical creatures but finds himself in trouble in 1926 New York City when his suitcase gets into the wrong hands, with animals let loose across the human city.
Now he’s on a mission to gather them all or risk exposing the entire wizarding world – but as he does so, he finds himself dealing with growing unrest that could prove a more devastating threat on the world as they know it.
The franchise has since had two more installments: Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald in 2016, and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore in 2018.
The Trial of the Chicago Seven (2020) - Tom Hayden
Based on true events that occurred in 1968, The Trial of the Chicago Seven follows seven men as they are arrested and charged with "crossing state lines" to incite a riot during an anti-Vietnam protest at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
As the trial gets underway, it becomes apparent the judge has a prejudice against them, with ongoing issues, stunts, and uncovering of brutality turning the courtroom into a circus.
The film was widely praised and was even nominated for six Oscars, including Best Picture, at the 2021 Academy Awards, as well as three Baftas and five Golden Globes.
The Trial of the Chicago Seven is available to watch on Netflix....
The Day of the Jackal coming 7 November exclusively on Sky Atlantic and NOW.

She got the title of the 'Ghostface Princess' when she started to do content of Scream on social media
The title of 'Serpent Princess' was because the cast f Riverdale started to call her that during filming and interviews
While rehearsing for Carrie: The Musical, she was Chris Hargenssen while Spencer, her boyfriend at the time, was playing Tommy Ross, and during one rehearsal, she pulled the rope with the bucket (empty) and accidentally hit him in the back, he was okay, only a bruise for a few days (they broke up in january because he moved to Iowa)
The one sided feud with Kira started because she thought Y/N last name was weird and funny, until she found out who was her father
Sometimes when she doesn't have space in her room or closet, she uses her siblings room as storage room
She knows how to play piano
Her favorite book series is PJO and The Selection
Her favorite fashion houses are Vivienne Westwood and D&G
She became a TS fan during 2011 after seeing the music video of Our Song, and the rest is history, she has been to three tours: 1989 with her family and friend group, the Rep Stadium Tour again with family and friend group, and recently to The Eras Tour with Jack
The first horror movie she saw wasn't Scream, it was Alien
Her first kiss was with Sarah, before entering high school they were talking on how both of them haven't had their fisrt kiss yet, so they decided to kiss so that way they didn't regret having it with some other person

Once a year, Y/N and her siblings have a small golf competition
Her first fashion campaign was with Kate Spade at 14
One ime during the filming of Scream VI, Melissa and Xavier adopted her for a day having a family day
The first thing she bought with her first salary as a Riverdale extra was her Prada nylon purse and bobba tea
(This is going to hurt) Luke Perry was like a second father to her, when Skeet had to film a violent scene, he would always distract her, helping her with homework or things like that, also attending her school plays, so when he died, she didn't left her room for a week because she coulnd't stop crying, even if the memorial was held at the Ulrich household, and when TS released evermore, she did a cover of Marjorie in his honor that she posted on Tik Tok
Her favorite movie is Corpse Bride, and always cries during the Emily song and the final scene

The love for VFX make up started when Skeet was telling her BTS facts about Scream, and it considelating during season two of Riverdale while helping with Cole Sprouse make up at the end of season two when he is beaten up by the Ghoulies
Besides the Southside Serpents leather jacket, she has a Vixens uniform (and all the variations), a Bulldogs football shirt, a Jughead beanie, a Pops uniform, Pussycats ears, a S shirt, letterman jacket, a Pretty Poisons jacket, and a 'Farm' shirt

After meeting Jack, the song that she started to hear in her head was 'Enchanted'
Her first Ghostface mask was gifted by Wes Craven, after Skeet called him to tell him she watched the movies, the next week she recieved the mask with a handwritten letter
A F1 driver tried to hit on her two days after her 18 birthday, she left him on read (we all know who was at this point)
As almost every nepo baby, she got a bit of hate when she started to be a public figure, but ignored them, until they started to talk about her relationship with Jack and she couldn't ignore them

Ms Luigia "Gina" Lollobrigida OMRI (4 July 1927 – 16 January 2023)
Destined to be called "The Most Beautiful Woman in the World", Ms Lollobrigida was the daughter of a furniture manufacturer, and grew up in the pictorial mountain village. She studied sculpture at Rome’s Academy of Fine Arts, and started her career with minor Italian film roles before coming third in 1947’s Miss Italia pageant.
After refusing a contract with Howard Hughes to make three pictures in the United States in 1950, Ms Lollobrigida gained for starring turns in 1952’s “Fanfan la Tulipe” and 1953’s “Bread, Love and Dreams,” the latter of which netted her a BAFTA nomination for Best Foreign Actress.
Ms Lollobrigida’s first American film was “Beat the Devil,” a 1953 adventure comedy directed by John Huston that cast her opposite Humphrey Bogart. Over the course of the ’50s and ’60s, she starred in numerous French, Italian and European-shot American productions, with highlights including “Trapeze” with Burt Lancaster and Tony Curtis, “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” as Esmerelda, “Solomon and Sheba” with Yul Brynner, “Never So Flew” with Frank Sinatra and Steve McQueen, “Come September” with Rock Hudson, and “Woman of Straw” with Sean Connery, and “Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbell,” with Shelley Winters.
Her roles made her a major sex symbol of Italian cinema; in 1953, she won Italy’s David di Donatello award for Best Actress for her performance in the opera star Lina Cavalieri’s biopic “Beautiful But Dangerous,” known in Italian as “The World’s Most Beautiful Woman.”
She later won two more David di Donatello Award for “Imperial Venus” and “Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbell,” a Golden Medal of the City of Rome in 1986, a 40th Anniversary David in 1996 and a 50th Anniversary David in 2006. In 1961, she won the Golden Globes’ Henrietta Award for “World Fan Favorite,” and received nominations for “Falcon Crest” and “Buona Sera, Mrs. Campbell.”
After the ’60s, Lollobrigida’s career began to slow down, but she continued to act intermittently, including in the 1995 Agnes Varda film “Les cent et une nuits de Simon Cinéma,” and in ’80s TV shows such as CBS’ “Falcon Crest” and ABC’s “The Love Boat.”
Ms Lollobrigida also developed a successful second career in photojournalism during the ’80s. She obtained an exclusive interview with Cuban leader Fidel Castro and also photographed many famous film stars, as well as publishing a number of books of her photographs.
In 2011 she made her final film appearance, playing herself in a cameo for the Italian parody film “Box Office 3D: The Filmest of Films.”
The screen legend sale of some of her 23 jewels from her Bulgari  collection at Sotheby’s in 2013 to help fund an international hospital for stem-cell research.
On 16 October 1999, Lollobrigida was nominated as a Goodwill Ambassador of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization
Ms  Lollobrigida won the Berlinale Camera at the Berlin Film Festival in 1986, Karlovy Vary Film Festival special prize in 1995, and the Rome Festival’s career prize in 2008. In 2018, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

JASON DAY-FUJIWARA is a Japanese-English actor, visual artist, videographer, businessman, and semi-retired model. Born on January 4th, 1997, Jason began his career as a child actor and model in 2004, and his earliest jobs came in the form of Abercrombie campaigns and print advertisements for Burberry and Chloe. His acting debut didn't come until 2005, in which he had a supporting role in a British soap opera. Prior to his breakthrough, Jason became a prominent young TV actor in England, and his popularity led him to a role in the 2011 Disney film, Lemonade Mouth.
In 2014, Jason was one of two co-stars in the film Sister. The film was an international success, and it won him a Young Hollywood Award, a Saturn Award, and even his first Golden Globe. Sister saw recognition at the Academy Awards, and won the GLAAD Media Award for Best Outstanding Film. The film's success catapulted Jason into semi-stardom in the United States, and he found his way into an Emmy-nominated television film later that year. In 2016, however, he would be transformed into an established actor seemingly overnight.
Jason would secure the role of Jess (later Jax) Takeda in Stranger Things, and his character's subsequent popularity turned him into a beloved actor. As a result, he's since achieved roles in major productions such as Squid Game, The Power of the Dog, Dune, Fast X, the Knives Out trilogy, Scream, Mad Max: Furiosa, Succession, Bridgerton, and Shiai—the latter of which garnered him a Best Actor nomination at the 2024 Academy Awards.
In addition to his booming acting career, Jason also has a booming modeling career. In 2013, he signed a contract with IMG Models, and a year later, he was sent to Paris and London to make his Fashion Week debuts. In between 2014 and 2016, he was seen as a rising star within the modeling world, booking shows and campaigns for the likes of Valentino, Alexander Wang, and Louis Vuitton. Jason's career as a model came to a rather abrupt end in 2016, though, when he announced that he would be taking an indefinite hiatus from modeling. The hiatus would thankfully end six years later, when he returned to the runway for Paris Fashion Week in 2022. Now, he's an ambassador for Celine, Hermès, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, and Saint Laurent's "L'Homme" fragrance, and is the first male ambassador for SK-II. Additionally, Jason also happens to be the founder and CEO of Day Media Corp, a gallery and media company, mainly for photography and videography. Founding the company in 2021, it has gone on to be immensely successful.
In 2018, Jason came out as a demiboy, changing his name from Jocelyn Charlene Day to Jason Day-Fujiwara. In his post, he expressed his feelings of gender dysphoria and confusing attraction to women, which he had been feeling for over two years at that point (which was also one of the reasons he decided to step back from modeling). Three years later, he would publicly come out as a transgender man, citing his then-girlfriend for giving him the courage to do so. Since then, Jason has been a staunch activist for the LGBT community and other marginalized groups, regularly speaking at charity events and making frequent appearances at Pride.
In 2019, Jason met his future wife, Aikawa Chouka (also known as Love). Meeting during the table reading before the production of Stranger Things' third season, the two clicked instantly due to their shared Japanese heritage and similar social standing (as Jason's father—Jonathan Day—is the president of the Day Banking Group, while his mother is a wealthy heiress and cast member of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills). Interestingly enough, they also attended the same Swiss private school at the same time, and their mothers were very familiar with each other. They became immensely close over the next two years, to the point where a relationship between their characters on Stranger Things was written in due to their intense chemistry, and by 2021, the internet was beginning to notice just how close they were. Everyone's suspicions were confirmed on Valentine's Day of that year, when both Jason and Chouka confirmed their relationship on Instagram. The world couldn't have been happier, and they've since gone on to become an iconic couple, even tying the knot in 2024. Their lavish Italian wedding has gone down as the "wedding of the decade."
Now, Jason has cemented himself as a beloved celebrity, becoming known as one of the best and most popular actors of the modern age. With his string of iconic roles, activism, booming business, and aesthetically pleasing Instagram feed, it doesn't look like Jason will be going away anytime soon (especially since he's married to Chouka).

Celebrating Ingrid Pitt
Ingrid Pitt (born Ingoushka Petrov; 21 November 1937 – 23 November 2010) was a Polish-British actress and writer best known for her work in horror films of the 1970s.
Ingoushka Petrov was born in Warsaw, Poland, one of two daughters of a father of German Jewish descent and a Polish Jewish mother. During World War II, she and her mother were imprisoned in Stutthof concentration camp in Sztutowo, Free City of Danzig (present-day Nowy Dwór Gdański County, Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland) but escaped. In Berlin, in the 1950s, Ingoushka married an American soldier, Laud Roland Pitt Jr., and moved to California. After her marriage failed she returned to Europe, but after a small role in a film, she took the shortened stage name "Ingrid Pitt", keeping her former husband's surname, and headed to Hollywood, where she worked as a waitress while trying to make a career in films.
In the early 1960s, Pitt was a member of the prestigious Berliner Ensemble, under the guidance of Bertolt Brecht's widow Helene Weigel. In 1965, she made her film debut in Doctor Zhivago, playing a minor role. In 1968, she co-starred in the low-budget science-fiction film The Omegans, and in the same year, played British spy Heidi Schmidt in Where Eagles Dare opposite Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood.
Tumblr media
Her work with Hammer Film Productions elevated her to cult figure status. She starred as Carmilla/Mircalla in The Vampire Lovers (1970), based on Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu's novella Carmilla, and played the title role in Countess Dracula (1971), based on the legends about Countess Elizabeth Báthory. Pitt also appeared in the Amicus horror anthology film The House That Dripped Blood (1971) and had a small part in The Wicker Man (1973).
Tumblr media
During the 1980s, Pitt returned to mainstream films and television. Her role as Fraulein Baum in the 1981 BBC Playhouse Unity, who is denounced as a Jew by Unity Mitford (Lesley-Anne Down), was uncomfortably close to her real-life experiences. Her popularity with horror film buffs had her in demand for guest appearances at horror conventions and film festivals. Other films in which Pitt has appeared outside the horror genre are: Who Dares Wins (1982) (or The Final Option), Wild Geese II (1985) and Hanna's War (1988). Generally cast as a villainess, her characters often died horribly at the end of the final reel. "Being the anti-hero is great – they are always roles you can get your teeth into."
Tumblr media
In the 1980s she also reinvented herself as a writer. Her first book, after a number of ill-fated tracts on the plight of Native Americans, was the 1980 novel, Cuckoo Run, a spy story about mistaken identity. "I took it to Cubby Broccoli. It was about a woman called Nina Dalton who is pursued across South America in the mistaken belief that she is a spy. Cubby said it was a female Bond. He was being very kind."
Tumblr media
In 1999, her autobiography, Life's a Scream (Heinemann) was published, and she was short-listed for the for her own reading of extracts from the audio book.
The autobiography detailed the harrowing experiences of her early life—in a Nazi concentration camp, her search through Europe in Red Cross refugee camps for her father, and her escape from East Berlin, one step ahead of the Volkspolizei. "I always had a big mouth and used to go on about the political schooling interrupting my quest for thespian glory. I used to think like that. Not good in a police state."
Tumblr media
Pitt died in a south London hospital on 23 November 2010, a few days after collapsing, and two days after her 73rd birthday, from congestive heart failure.
Tumblr media
Seven months before she died, Pitt finished narration for Ingrid Pitt: Beyond the Forest (2011), an animated short film on her experience in the Holocaust, a project that had been in the works for five years. Character design and storyboards were created by two-time Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Bill Plympton. The film is directed by Kevin Sean Michaels; co-produced and co-written by Jud Newborn, Holocaust expert and author, "Sophie Scholl and the White Rose"; and drawn by 10-year-old animator, Perry Chen.

I know this is probably a ridiculous question, but how close do you think Sam and Jacob came to meeting before IWTV? I mean, they seemed to run in similar sort of groups I guess.
lololol I love this question so much
sooooooo. I think they came close to meeting several times. I actually think if they were closer in age (not that they're far apart, mind you, but if Sam was like. two years younger or Jacob two years older) I think they would have met.
the most apparent degree-of-separation of sorts I can think of with them is this:
emilia clarke and sam claflin do the movie 'me before you.' they're both cast in sept. of 2014. the year before, 2013, sam claflin was both cast and filmed 'the riot club' which also has sam reid. seasons 4-6 of GoT were filming during 2013-2014. but even before that, sam reid went to the same acting school as sam claflin and they were only a year apart.
sam and jacob were both also doing stage plays throughout london/parts of england around the same time, but they never performed at the same theatre. jacob did four plays from 2008-2011 and sam did two from 2010-2011.
I'm not sure how long sam lived in london either, but living there, graduating from rada, and whatnot probably means that jacob knew people that knew him. like I said above, I think if they were a little closer in age, more people jacob knew would have more closely known sam.
anyway, all of this is to say that I think they were very close to meeting, but I think something made sure it happened the way it did. there's something really beautiful about how their relationship came about, how quickly they connected. it's some real soulmate shit, meeting across the world in different countries and clicking like they were meant to be.
