I swear I tried to take a proper photo of the supermoon, but I literally had 5 minutes to take this picture before the Moon went behind the big honking cloud cover for the rest of the night. Damn.

Sony RX100 VII Thoughts After Two Months
Tumblr media Tumblr media
PROS:
Stacked sensors are the future. Well, technically the present considering that Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fuji, and OM Systems all use stacked sensors in their top of the line cameras. Either way, finally getting to experience shooting with one on a daily basis has made me want one in pretty much any camera going forward. The benefits are twofold: Not only do you get shutter speeds up to 20 frames per second, and without a mechanical shutter flipping in the way obscuring your view in between shots, but you also get no rolling shutter while doing it. Pretty much every Sony camera can shoot 10 fps bursts with the silent shutter, but any movement can give you a jello-like effect since the sensor reads out so slow on non-stacked cameras. The only con, at least on this camera, is that you can’t shoot flash at higher than 1/100 with the electronic shutter. That’s still plenty fast for a lot of stuff, but well below the 1/2000 you get when shooting the mechanical shutter.
The fast frame rate wouldn’t make much of a difference if the camera was bad at autofocusing, but this camera is great at it. It has a lot of the same fancy focusing stuff that my full frame Sony has like human/animal eye autofocus and all the tracking modes I’m used to. It actually makes the camera pretty solid for wildlife if you can get close enough at the 200mm end.
Speaking of that, the 24-200mm equivalent is a great range, and one that I missed a lot since I traded away my Tamron 28-200 to help cover the cost of my A7RIV. The small size and extra 4mm on the wide end actually makes it even more convenient than that Tamron.
Aside from covering a broader range than the 24-70 equivalent lens from the older RX100 cameras, this lens also seems noticeably sharper. The last RX100 model I had, the Mk. IV, just didn’t seem as crispy as this lens is.
It has a touchscreen! It’s wild to think that the previous RX100 cameras I owned didn’t have this basic ass feature, but Sony was very late in putting touch screens in their cameras. Ironically, I don’t really use it in this one because the AF is good enough that I can just do focus and recompose with tracking.
Tumblr media
CONS:
It’s still only a 1” style sensor so high ISO isn’t the cameras strong suit. Programs like DXO PureRAW help a lot and let you get somewhat usable images at ISO 6400 in a pinch, but you’re kinda pushing things at that point.
While the lens is sharper and covers a wider range than the older models, it’s also significantly slower. At 24mm equivalent it’s already at f/2.8 where the old cameras were f/1.8. It’s f/3.2 at 25mm, f/3.5 at 33mm, and f/4 at 40mm. From 109mm to 200mm you’re at f/4.5. The relative slowness of the lens combined with the small sensor means that this can struggle getting quality images in low light without a tripod or something.
No USB-C. My Fuji, Ricoh, and larger Sony all have USB-C charging, which is amazingly convenient when traveling. I haven’t really gone anywhere with this camera yet, but having to account for a micro USB cable is annoying since pretty much everything aside from my iPhone uses USB-C.
It’s expensive. Just like my Mk III and Mk IV I got it used so it was cheaper than retail, but the copy I got cost about twice what I paid for the previous models.
Start up time is just a tad bit slower than I’d like. The GRIII and X100V both beat it that regards, albeit those aren’t zoom lens so I have to cut the Sony some slack.

Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul | Floods - DREF Operation Update n° 2 (MDRBR011)
Tumblr media
Between 29 April and 4 May, heavy rainfalls devastated Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, causing floods, landslides, and mudslides. This catastrophic event, the worst climate disaster in the state's history, affected 478 out of 496 municipalities. Over 1,000 millimetres of rain fell during this period, leading to significant destruction.1 By 10 July, the Brazilian Civil Defense reported that 2,398,255 people were affected, with 806 injuries and 182 deaths.2 The disaster displaced 422,753 people, with 10,793 still residing in temporary shelters as of 14 June.3 Along the first month of the crisis, water levels decreased in most areas, allowing some displaced families to return home and begin cleaning up their houses.
However, on 16 June, new floods and heavy rains hit the state, with an average of 200mm of rainfall in 24 hours. Further floods affected 19 municipalities along the Caí, Cadeia, and Sinos rivers, prompting evacuation messages. In some municipalities, such as Porto Alegre, the percentage of people in shelters rose again to 20% of its citizens nearly 2 months after the crisis. Besides basic needs such as clothes, food, hygiene and cleaning items, the prolonged period in shelters adds a heavy psychological toll on the affected communities.
Despite the challenging conditions and re-start of the floods, two months after the disaster date, there have been some signs of recovery. Based on figures from the Rio Grande do Sul Government, the number of people displaced in shelters has decreased by 64% from the previous reporting period, reflecting a gradual return to normalcy for some families.4 However, as of 16 July, 3,915 individuals remain in temporary shelters, highlighting the ongoing need for humanitarian assistance.5

3D printing has proved to be extremely useful(Part-1)
3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, creates three-dimensional objects from a computer-generated design layer by layer. 3D printing is an additive process that involves layering material to form a 3D part. 3D printers have advanced significantly in recent years, and they can now play critical roles in a wide range of applications, including manufacturing, medicine, architecture, custom art, and design, and they can range from fully functional to purely aesthetic.
3D printers gained popularity quickly after they became commercially available. They proved to be extremely useful for manufacturers looking for a simple way to create parts for the items they produce. The first 3D printer was created 30 years ago, and this wonderful device has taken the world by storm since then. Let us now discuss mechanical and electronic accessories.
Types of Mechanical accessories:
Mechanical accessories are one of the main parts of the 3D Printer. Here are some of the Mechanical parts and their functions: -
2GT 20 teeth pulley wheel
LM12UU 12mm Linear Motion Bearing
GT2 Rubber Timing Belt Closed Loop
2GT 20 teeth pulley wheel
Timing Idler Pulley Wheel in Aluminum GT2 For 6mm Belt 20 Tooth 5mm Bore pulley; it will work perfectly with GT2 pulley-belt sets we sell in our store. This idler works well with the 20T GT2 driving Timing Belt Pulley. Many DIY 3D printer builders use idler pulleys made from 3D printed wheels. Because the outside diameter of the idler is not concentric to the rotation axis, an inaccurately printed idler reduces printing quality and causes vibrations. Other manufacturers employ double bearings with stationary washers clamped on both sides.
LM12UU 12mm Linear Motion Bearing
The LM12UU 12mm Linear Motion Bearings are ideal for linear motion in 3D printers, CNC machines, and other applications. It provides a linear motion system that is precise, safe, and dependable. These Bearings have standardized, interchangeable parts, so you don't have to worry about replacing any worn parts. The LM12UU Linear Motion Bearing A solid steel outer cylinder is used to manufacture high precision and rigidity linear motion bearings. In addition, the linear motion bearing has an industrial-strength resin retainer.
A linear motion bearing is made up of an outer cylinder, a ball retainer, balls, and two end rings. End rings keep the ball retainer, which holds the balls in the recirculating trucks, inside the outer cylinder.
GT2 Rubber Timing Belt Closed Loop
GT2 Rubber Timing Belt is a closed-loop with a width of 6mm and a length of 200mm that is used to generate linear motion, timing synchronization, torque and speed conversion, and other applications. The GT2 system's Grip is an extension of the HTD system with greater load-carrying capacity. It's a flexible belt with teeth molded into the inside surface.
The GT2 belt series is specifically designed for linear motion. They use a rounded tooth profile with a 2mm pitch to ensure that the belt tooth fits smoothly and accurately in the pulley groove, so there is no room for the belt to move in the groove when the pulley direction is reversed.
Stay tuned for the next part...

How much cnc lathe size?
Hello, everyone, this is HANBS, I am Sonya, recently I have been to the Mid-Autumn Festival ah, a while no share ah, of course, will not give up. So let's start today's sharing! Today I would like to share how much cnc lathe size. in fact, people who know cnc lathe know that there are still quite a lot of kinds of cnc lathe, so it is natural that its size will be a little different. cnc lathe size is varied, usually depends on their purpose, the size of the workpiece to be processed and the production needs. Here are a few key aspects of CNC lathe sizes:
Tumblr media
1. Machining range
Maximum turning diameter: this is the maximum diameter of the workpiece that can be machined on a cnc lathe and usually varies between 150mm (6 inches) and 1000mm (40 inches). Small desktop grade cnc lathe usually machine diameters between 150mm-300mm, while large industrial grade cnc lathe can machine diameters up to 1000mm or more.
Maximum turning length:
This is the maximum length of the workpiece that the lathe can machine, usually from 200mm (8 inches) to 3000mm (120 inches) or longer. A small cnc lathe is suitable for shorter workpieces, while a large cnc lathe can machine long shafted parts (small ones also machine slender shafted parts).
2. cnc lathe external dimensions
The physical external dimensions of a cnc lathe depend on the machining capacity of its type:
Small desktop level cnc lathe: suitable for small parts processing, the general size of about 500mm * 1000mm * 1000mm.
Medium-sized cnc lathe: for medium-sized parts processing, with dimensions of about 2000mm*1500mm*1500mm.
Large industrial cnc lathe: can process large, heavy workpiece, size can reach 4000mm*2000mm*2000mm or even larger.
Tumblr media
3.Spindle size
Spindle through-hole diameter: this refers to the diameter of the through-hole in the center of the spindle, determines the diameter of the bar that can be processed through the spindle. The diameter of the spindle through-hole of a small cnc lathe is usually 20-60mm, while the diameter of the spindle through-hole of a large lathe can exceed 100mm.
4.Lathe size
Bed length: determines the maximum workpiece length that the lathe can support. The longer the bed, the greater the length of the workpiece that can be processed. The bed can be from 500mm to 5000mm or even longer.
5. Other Considerations
Number and type of turret: small cnc lathes are usually equipped with a single turret, while large and versatile cnc lathes may be equipped with a double turret, or even have multi-axis control such as Y-axis, C-axis, and so on. Composite cnc lathe are usually equipped with multiple control axes.
Installation space: many people are actually concerned about this, so they ask for more details when purchasing a cnc lathe. When installing a cnc lathe, you need to consider the operating space. It is usually required to have at least 1-2m space around the lathe for operation and maintenance.
That's all for today's sharing, I hope it can help the people who need it, we will see you next time.
