Helpful (but Aggressive) Guide to the new Hogwarts Legacy PC Mod Update✨

I have been seeing NOTHING BUT COMPLAINING about this damn update and no one actually trying to help each other. So I'm going to do my damn best here to give you a little intro into this new update. Because instead of leaning into the standard toxic consumerism bullshit of fandom, why don't we actually try to be nice to each other?? And the fucking modders who put all this time and effort into making this for us?!?!!?!?!? Special thanks to @anomalyaly because we were up last night trying to figure this out LOL. These screenshots are hers and mine!

PART ONE: Why is my game crashing?

You need to delete your old Nexus ~mod folder from the game files. Throw it in the trash, cut and past it somewhere in your documents, idc. Just get it out of there. The pathway to find it is:

2. Steam senses your bad attitude and don't like it idk. I'm not IT. Turn it off and back on again.

NOTE: Once you start up the game and get it working, you can bring back compatible mods from Nexus. You just need to create a new folder to put them in. It can't be the original one. If your game crashes after that, then you have an incompatible mod in there. You'll have to go down the list until you narrow down which one it is - typically will be a face mod, hair mod, jewelry, or a mod that already exists in the new mod store thing. Yeet it.

PART TWO: I'm not going to teach you how to add the new in-game mods and start the game. I'm not your mom. It's pretty intuitive honestly.

PART THREE: Where the fuck are the clothing mods I just added????

An excellent question, my new charge. You need to go to GladRags to get them. You're going to have to long rest at least three days for them to show up in his store. For me, it took five times lol. This is kind of annoying, but it needs to be immersive to the game I guess so oh well. I don't think we'll die from it.

See all those red exclamation points? That was my fault. I loaded a wizard clothing mod into a witch save. So if you see that, you loaded something you shouldn't have.

PART FOUR: HOW DO I CHANGE MY UGLY ASS HAIR?

Easy peasy lemon squeezy. You're going to go to that hairstyle lady in Hogsmeade I'm too lazy to look up the name of. That bitch charges you for the new hairstyles but you can download unlimited money cheats so whatever.

PART THIRTY-SEVEN: How do I change my makeup?

This part sucks. RIGHT NOW as of 1/31/2025, you have to be in the main character design screen at the beginning of the damn game. BUT BUT BUT - if you mod back in the BP character editor, you can do it anywhere. My hope is a new mod will replace this so the game works more smoothly.

Those white spaces? They're the new in-game mods for hair and makeup. Well, most of them. I think some are just random blank spaces lol.

Part Six: Where are my unlocked spells and unlimited plants and shit?

Two reasons they're not showing up:

If you just added this mod and you load your game in the middle of the mission, you need to finish the mission first.

You probably have something incompatible (a nexus mod) that isn't playing nice. Yeet it.

After getting everything squared away, I look fucking great. You are not doomed to a potato face🥔. I FUCKING PROMISE YOU ON SOLOMON'S LIFE.

Truly guys, once you work out the kinks in this update, it's really. fucking. nice.

Before I reinstalled the nexus mods, the game was running so smoothly and the graphics were beautiful. I loaded in 20 mods all at once, and the game handled them just fine. After reloading the nexus mods it was a bit clunky, but of course it would be.

I know change is scary. Also for those who spent time creating/commissioning mods that are no longer compatible, they have the biggest right to be freaking out. BUT BUT BUT we all fucking know the old mods AND SO MANY MORE will be back soon. People are working their asses off in the background converting things right now.

I want to put some things into perspective for you:

We have not had a real update in two years (no, photo mode doesn't count). This is literally the best kind of update we could ever ask for. We are not dependent on the devs for updates with this. In the launch event they were speaking as if you can create your own quests; there are audio mods....think about it guys. Endless protentional. (The only things that aren't going to make it are if you have weird ass like engorgio penis mods because there's no way they're approving those for public use hahahaha)

The devs reached out to people in the community to ask for feedback and to collaborate. THEY CARE ABOUT THE FANDOM. Consider what that may mean for the sequel??? We might not be forced to stomach Hogwarts Legacy 2: Dumbledore's Jorts. They're listening (but they're not going to listen if you're fucking rude and stupid).

You guys shitting on this update very vocally here, on twitter, and on tiktok are forgetting that people in your community helped create it and can SEE YOU. STOP IT. Whine in private!!!!!! Also because I knowww I have to specify because someone is going to take everything personally, I don't mean posts making funny jokes about the updates and just being like ahhhh wtf is going on I'm so lost and whatnot. Like please guys, read the room. I'm referring to nasty comments.

So yes, I'm here with a positive review of the update, and an insanely aggressive reminder to calm the fuck down and go touch some grass. The old mods will be back soon. This update makes using them so much easier. Also, THE POOR CONSOLE PLAYERS DON'T EVEN HAVE ANYTHING YET SOOOOOOOO

Toshia Mori (The Bitter Tea of General Yen, Blondie Johnson)—i think Toshia Mori is a great example of someone who clearly had the makings and charisma of a star & who its easy to imagine thriving in a less white supremacist system than 20s and 30s hollywood. she began acting in silent movies in the late 20s, and in 1932 was selected as a "WAMPAS Baby Star" which was an annual promotion of promising up-and-coming young actresses by the Western Association of Motion Picture Advertisers, becoming the first Asian woman to do so. previous baby stars included Clara Bow, Joan Crawford, and Joan Blondell, and another 1932 honoree was Ginger Rogers. this likely led to her most sizeable role in The Bitter Tea of General Yen (unfortunately a movie with a lot of orientalism going on and white actors in yellowface). she was well received but the studio seemed to lose interest in her career and she largely continued to get bit parts; her last appearance was in a Charlie Chan movie in 1937. she deserved better!!

Veronica Lake (I Married a Witch, Sullivan's Travels)—her look is so iconic they used her as a visual model for jessica rabbit in who framed roger rabbit and a bunch of other femme fatale types in cartoons and live action alike. i didnt think i liked women and then i saw her in sullivans travels and said gee i hope this doesnt awaken anything in me! every role ive seen her in she absolutely oozes an aura of "i know people would ask me to step on them" and her EYES bro every photo ive looked at for this submission its like shes piercing thru time and space to judge me <3

Lockwood thought he’d never seen someone more stunning. He knew you were beautiful — he’d spent enough hours staring at you in Arif’s to deduce that fact, but this was the first time he’d ever seen you not in your work uniform and your practical tied-back hairstyles.

Now, though, you were on a whole new level. Your red dress was simple but classic, grazing the floor beneath your white heels. The red spaghetti straps were hidden by your hair, extending past your shoulders in gentle waves, a frilly white barrette keeping it out of your face. Lockwood was, very unusually, completely lost for words.

“You look…” He stuttered, grappling for any words that could encapsulate the feelings in his heart.

“You’re a total knockout,” Lucy interrupted, and Lockwood nodded, grateful for the words supplied. Even George looked mildly impressed, which you took over the exasperated expressions you got when you were serving him at work. Truthfully, the source of those looks was usually Lockwood and his habit of abandoning work the moment you entered his periphery, but George wasn’t above lightly blaming you for it.

You kept Lockwood & Co meeting your family to an absolute minimum, but still not short enough to avoid your mum giving you several pointed looks.

“He’s cute,” She mouthed and you flushed almost the same colour as your dress. You tried to shut her up before anyone noticed and you thought you’d succeeded, but Lucy’s teasing eyebrow raise had you burying your head in your hands.

Soon as you could you’d ushered Lockwood & Co out of your house, waving goodbye to your parents and trying to silence all their embarrassing conversation by talking louder to your friends. Lockwood, much to your chagrin, was extremely fond of them and had made premature plans to see them again, delighting in your embarrassment at their insistence of telling childhood stories.

Still, you arrived at the Fittes building far too quickly for your liking, and you subconsciously grabbed onto Lockwood’s arm to keep him close. He looked down at you, eyes soft as they searched yours. He gave a quick pat to the arm holding his, offering you silent support.

“It’ll be fun, hey? Promise if it sucks we can ditch whenever you like — I doubt George will last that long anyway.” You nodded in response, not trusting your voice not to waiver.

You looked around in wonder as you entered the great hall where the ball was being held. It was decked out in red and pink, hearts and cherubs tastefully adorning each surface. You were astounded by the opulence of not only the room but its inhabitants. All of the agents invited were similarly dressed up to the nines, though you personally didn’t think anybody compared to Lockwood in his perfectly tailored suit.

The four of you wandered around the party for a while, and you were admittedly shocked at Lockwood’s charm and easy conversation. You knew he was a good talker — you’d been told off a ridiculous amount of time at the store because Lockwood had kept you entranced with a story or a joke, but he could seemingly keep an endless conversation with anyone he came across regardless of their age or occupation. You followed him around like a lost puppy, smiling nicely when you made eye contact and giving your name when someone cared enough to ask. The moments you liked the most though were between the endless list of people to greet, where Lockwood would crane his neck down to whisper what he really thought about the previous acquaintances and you could make a joke in return.

You were surprised by someone calling your name. “You look stunning tonight.” The voice belonged to Quill Kipps. You smiled at him, paying him a compliment in return. You rather liked Kipps — you knew there was some rivalry between him and Lockwood but it was frankly none of your interest or business, and Kipps had always been perfectly lovely to you. You could feel Lockwood glowering beside you and sighed, hoping there wouldn’t be a confrontation in the middle of a ball. Though you couldn’t say you minded the protective — and maybe slightly possessive — arm he’d snaked around your waist, holding you closer to him and further from Kipps.

You made slight smalltalk with him, but the conversation was short lived since neither boy was prepared to speak any kindness to the other. You waved softly as Kipps promised to see you later, and you scolded Lockwood when you were out of his earshot.

“Today is a day all about love and you’re staring down Kipps! What is that all about?”

“I can tell you our tragic angsty backstory later, love, do you want to dance?” You thought Lockwood was smarter than he was sometimes given credit for as that was possibly the most effective redirection tactic he could have tried, and you were soon on the dance floor together, swaying softly to the cheesy, old fashioned love songs that had been playing all night.

You couldn’t believe what was happening to you. Firstly that Lockwood had asked you here at all; it was your first time seeing each other out of the confines of the cafe and it was all going so well — the two of you got on like a house on fire. Secondly, that you were then slow dancing with him. His hands sat on your waist, warm against the silky fabric of your dress. In turn, yours wrapped around his neck, and neither of you could contain your smiles. You thought in the back of your head, trying not to jinx it, that he might even try to kiss you — and you doubted you would say no to him.

You’d settled into a comfortable silence, dancing amongst the sea of couples, and you wondered if Lockwood was having the same thoughts you were. You didn’t get the opportunity to ask him, though, as George and Lucy were at your side, raving about some high level agency figure that they were desperate to meet. You saw the way Lockwood’s eyes lit up at the name drop and drew your hands back, not wanting to be the reason he gave up an important introduction.

He hesitated for a moment, looking at you. You gave him a soft smile, encouraging him to leave.

“C’mon, Lockwood! Your sappy slow dance can wait, when are we going to get this opportunity again?” George whined and you both flushed at that — any romance sucked out of the mood. Lucy smacked him in the side but the moment was gone, Lockwood holding back a groan.

“What about you go get us some drinks while we do this and we’ll be back before you know it,” Lockwood suggested and you nodded, trying to look cool and unaffected. You said a quick goodbye before you split away from the group, heading to the other side of the ridiculous foyer.

You went to the bathroom, taking full advantage of the luxurious facilities and making extremely awkward eye contact with a woman in the mirror as you washed your hands, shrinking as you noticed how much more glamorous she was.

With Lockwood you felt like you somewhat belonged, his touch grounding you and dissolving a large part of your nerves. But now he was gone, and you felt terribly alone and like everyone who looked at you could tell you weren’t supposed to be here.

Those were your musings as you made your way to the drinks table, intending to make one for Lockwood and yourself as you’d promised. A hand laid on your shoulder from behind you, making you jump slightly.

“I meant what I said before,” Kipps said, turning you gently to face him. “You really look amazing tonight, but you do every day.”

“Oh.” You blushed, “Thank you, Quill. That’s very kind of you.”

“Care for a dance?”

“Uh, I don’t know if—” Your protests were ignored as you were swept up in his arms, limbs stiff from your discomfort. He kept trying to make conversation but you weren’t much use, suddenly uncomfortable with someone you were used to calling a friend.

“I really like you,” Kipps said and your mouth dropped open.

“Have you been drinking?” You asked, trying to ease yourself out of his grip — unsuccessfully.

“Only a little. For confidence. Look, I want to be with you, for you to be mine. What do you think?” You could feel the colour drain from your face, your feet faltering beneath you.

“Quill, you’re really lovely and all but —” He was kissing you. Why was Kipps kissing you? And why couldn’t you get him to let go?

“Lockwood!” You heard Lucy call behind you, and you managed to wrench yourself away from Kipps long enough to see Lockwood storming out of the hall. Panicking, you shoved Kipps away, pushing through the crowd to try and find the boy you’d arrived with.

The winter air outside was aggressive and sent goosebumps up your uncovered arms but you disregarded it, catching up to Lockwood.

“It wasn’t what it looks like, Lockwood, I promise!” Lockwood whipped around to face you, coattails flying with the wind. For a moment he looked frightening and you faltered slightly, shrinking back from him.

“Wasn’t what it looks like? So you weren’t just making out with the only person I really hate? While you were here with me? Yeah, right,” He said, breathing ragged. You hated seeing him angry, you just wanted to hold his face and explain everything, but you figured he wouldn’t be very receptive to it right now. “And to think I really thought I had a chance.” You didn’t hear what was whispered under his breath, your own temper bubbling after being yelled at so unjustly.

“God, Lockwood, can you get your head out of your arse for one second? Do you really think this is how I wanted the evening to go? Being felt up by Kipps because he’s had too many drinks to realise he’s not the guy I like?” You could see Lockwood’s eyes soften a bit, his guilt flaring up. “Yeah, not plan A. All night I have felt stupid and out of place in this big fancy ball and I was fine with it because at least I was here with you, but now you’re yelling at me and acting like you’re the one that’s been hurt, all because you’re jealous?”

“Me? Jealous? I—” He spluttered, but you weren’t finished.

“Clearly you are jealous of something — why else would you be acting so childish?”

“Fine!” He yelled, “I am jealous! I’m jealous of Kipps because I’ve been trying to work up the courage to kiss you all night after pining for you for months. I’m jealous because I like you so much that I can’t stop thinking about you and George is sick of hearing about you and—”

“Lockwood?”

“Yes?”

“Shut up.” You cupped his cheeks, pressing your lips to his. What you meant as a quick show of affection and method of stopping Lockwood’s rambling quickly turned into something more, something hungrier as Lockwood brought you into him. Whilst Kipp’s arms around you were threatening, restricting, Lockwood’s were warm, comforting, and you couldn’t help but melt into him, adding as much intensity as the both of you could handle.

Behind you, you could hear the telltale sound of a salt bomb and pulled away enough to laugh against Lockwood’s lips.

“You did not just fight a ghost while we were making out,” You giggled, pressing another peck which he chased after hungrily.

“Can’t have you getting ghost-touched when I’ve finally got you in my arms.” You both smiled, lacing your hands together as you prepared to go sort out the mess that had been left behind.

You supposed your Valentine’s Day had turned out alright after all.

Viola had just recently moved to Montreal and was living with Cole, she had gotten her sling off for her broken collar bone, but still had a cast for her broken elbow and wrist and a brace on her other wrist.

Viola been down quite a bit since the accident, she couldn’t swim or go in the lake during the summer, going on the boat was to much vibrating on her injury’s, she wasn’t allowed to do any type of workouts, she could barely do anything herself with both arms being injured so she spent most of the last two months in bed.

Viola stayed at home at her parents house for most of the summer barely going to her brothers lake house, she’s been in a funk and it seems like most of her sunshine self was gone after the accident.

Viola had unpacked most of her stuff the last week into Cole’s apartment and getting use to not living with her parents or Luke anymore.

Viola put on a pair of plaid shorts and a black t-shirt, she groaned as she tried to brush her hair, she slid her feet into her sandals and walked into the living room seeing Cole on the couch on his phone after his morning practice. She walked in and Cole looked up and felt his face soften seeing her frustrated face and the hair brush in her hand, Cole smiled and held out his hand for the brush.

Viola handed it to him and sat down in front of him, “Do you want anything or just down?” Cole asked as he brushed through her hair, Ellen had taught Cole how to do some hairstyles for Viola.

“Just down, please.” Viola mumbled.

Cole hummed and finished brushing it out,“There you go.” Cole told her once he was finished, “Are you ready to go?” Cole asked as today was the first time she was gonna meet her team and then go over the plans with her physical therapy that she is starting soon.

Viola nodded and set her brush on the table and headed to the front door. Cole and Viola walked to the car and got in. Viola doesn’t like driving or being in the car much anymore.

Cole drove them carefully to the rink and he parked in one of the front spots, “You ready Vi?” Cole asked looking at her. Viola nodded and got out of the car.

They walked into the rink and walked to the ice seeing the team practicing on the ice, the coach was on the bench and he smiled at Viola as he saw her.

Sylvain the coach walked over to Viola and Cole, “Hello Viola it’s good to see you again.” He gently shook her hand being mindful of her brace. They had met at the draft and he could tell the accident affected her mentally just as physically.

Viola looked at the ice as the whistle blew and the players were heading off the ice and down the hallway towards the locker room.

Viola titled her head seeing a very tall player but turned back to her new coach.

Maveric saw two people talking to coach and he walked over to them.

“Ah Maveric, This is Viola!” Sylvain introduced the two, Maveric smiled bright at her and Viola nodded slightly, “Viola will hopefully be joining us soon.”

“Well i can’t wait.” Maveric beamed at her, Maveric thought she was absolutely beautiful.

Cole looked at Maveric already suspiciously as he recognizing the look Maveric already had towards Viola.

“Come on Viola let’s show you the rehab rooms.” Sylvain put a hand on her shoulder and started to walk away, “Maveric would you like to join?” Sylvain asked thinking it would he good for Viola to start to get to know some of her team and Maveric is easy to love.

“I would love too!” Maveric beamed and started walking with the three. Viola titled her head slightly as she could hear the accent that Maveric had.

“So this is rehab room, we can usally help for every type of injury.” Sylvain led them into a large room filled with different types of equipments and everything you could think of to help an injury, “And this is Dr. Anna, she’s our lead physical therapist and will mostly be the one helping you.”

Dr Anna looked barely a day over 20, she had really long hair that was ginger and a cheerful personality, “Hello you must be Viola.” She smiled at her.

Viola nodded as she stayed close to Cole the whole time for comfort and reassurance. Dr. Anna led Viola and Cole into her office away from Maveric and Sylvain.

“When is she going to be starting?” Cole questioned taking his job as a guardian for Viola very seriously especially since Ellen and Jim couldn’t be here for everything. He wanted to make sure Viola is okay.

“It’s been how long exactly from your accident?” Dr. Anna questioned wanting to make sure everything on the papers she was given was correct.

“Ten week.” Viola answered shifting uncomfortable at the mention of her accident.

“So you have had you sling off for four weeks and your second cast for two weeks already?” Dr. Anna confirmed, knowing that Viola had a cast for her elbow and wrist for eight weeks and then got another one.

Viola nodded.

“Okay, we will start this week with your movement with your collarbone and your sprained wrist, luckily those two injuries are on the same side so it will be easier and when those are stronger and getting back to normal hopefully that’s about the time you need to get your cast removed and your elbow and wrist will get a brace and we will slowly start working on that arm as well.” Dr. Anna told both of them, “I’m not gonna lie to you Viola it’s gonna be a tough time and there is gonna be days where you feel absolutely miserable but if you want to play again you have to push through all of that.” Dr. Anna seriously and encouraged Viola.

Viola nodded, she knew it was gonna be a long road but it will be worth it if she can ever play again.

This is another entry for the Yuri on the Web Discord channel's pride event. This time the prompt "Gender?".

I know, I know, Iength of hair doesn't determine whether you are a boy or a girl, but hear me out. For me, my hair is an important symbol of my female-to-male journey. From always having prefered the short hairstyles as a teenager, over growing it very long in university trying to "become a proper girl at last", to finally cutting it all off again after realizing I was trans.

The day I cut my long hair off was the day I decided to stop trying to be a girl forever. And it was so so liberating.

Shortly after, I watched Yuri in Ice for the first time, not knowing yet what awaited me. And the very first scene hit me like a sledgehammer: This woman/man? (I had no idea who Viktor was at that point), skating and spinning ... and then suddenly their hair is short and there is this beautiful man.

Not even 20 seconds in I had to pause and cry, both from sadness and joy. Because I wished it was that easy, just spin and "magically" transform into a man. But then again, maybe it was that easy? Maybe I had done exactly that only a few days ago?

I know that was not the intention of the show, but I have never stopped seeing Viktor through that lense.

This show was what it needed for me to not only realize but also accept that I was trans. Not only through Viktor, but also the various representation of fluid gender and the general queerness and love that was depicted.

And last but not least the people I met through the fandom that have been so incredibly helpful, validating and encouraging <3

I’ll probably die on this hill, but if you’re doing a short haircut (not buzzed short but bob or even shaggy/pixie cut short) as long as you understand how to cut wig hair and you buy a high quality one to start with, fur wigs can look as good as or better than glued fiber wigs.

Maybe it’s because every glued fiber wig looks like shiny garbage to me with uneven/unnatural parting and too thick in all the wrong places. I’ve seen some alpaca wigs that look great, but almost always only from one angle and at the price those cost I just don’t get the draw.

Sometimes fur wigs have unflattering angles, but you might pay $20 at maximum (I’ve never paid that much) and it’s so easy to alter them with basic cutting and sewing to make them look more natural whereas a glued wig is pretty much it once it’s done. A lot of people just don’t know how to cut or style a fur wig and a lot of really cheap ones are made wrong or with the wrong fur, but I’m never as happy with any wig as I am a well styled fur wig.

And I’m not a hairstylist, but if I mess up really badly, I’m not mad about tossing a wig I paid $5-10 for, but it’s nearly impossible at this point for me to destroy one unintentionally. Also, they look great in hats and you don’t have to worry about damaging wefts or anything because it’s one piece and everything is fixable with a toothbrush. My only frustration with them is if the size isn’t just right, they end up looking really poofy, but again, a little cutting and sewing and it’s remedied, and I’ve experienced the same issue (but not fixable) with really nice sewn synthetic wigs in short hairstyles.

Fur just looks and behaves more like real hair to me on such a small scale and I love how accessible the wigs are. Maybe one more con is that I hate cleaning up the hair once I’ve trimmed the wig lol, but that can’t be helped and I’m a cat owner, so I’m used to having hair in my mouth/nose/clothes XD

1. Which series is your favorite (Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball Super, etc.)?

I'm going to have to go with Dragon Ball Z here aside from it adding literally all the other characters I love, it was actually my first introduction to the series as a whole during it's Kai run on nicktoons. Plopped right in on the saibamen episode whilst my brother gave a general run down of the characters since he grew up watching the series. Nostalgic ☺️👌🏾.

2. Who is your favorite character?

Oh easy...Vegeta and I know he's definitely a lot of people's favorite and over the years I've grown to appreciate a lot of the characters in different ways by seeing just how and what others do with them. Though I will say if it wasn't for my interest in him (and the progression of his relationship with Bulma 🤭) I wouldn't have really started chatting with people. Other than that It's always fun in my rewatches seeing him go through all those changes in every saga from his first introduction and it's fics about him that pull me back into the fandom.

4. Who is your least favorite character?

Hmm there's not really a character that pops up on the screen where I'm like "Ugh this guy 😒🙄" especially since they have such minor moments now can only handle their gags in small doses. You know what actually it's Master Roshi...this perverted geezer I could never. I like it when the women actually slap him upside the head with random objects. Wait no...Android 18 on the plane twisting his face in on the plane was the best one. So it's more when he pops up on the screen I'm like "Yeah get his ass if he tries it 👀👀😤😤"

20. If you could hangout with one character, who would it be?

Yooo hanging out with Chichi would actually be a vibe and I'd get good meal at the end of it. That women can throw down and teach me a thing or two 💅🏾💅🏾 not to mention the cozy atmosphere like yes please.

21. Which Bulma hairstyle is your favorite?

Omg she has too many good ones ahhh it should be a crime to be able to pull any hairstyle 😤😤.

This is going to be a really long post about my recent studies with character design, proportions, and improving other skills.

These are some drawings from my studies that I discuss below

It started when I picked Dragon/Olivia's story back up. To give some context about this character, she's a character I made along with 11 others that matched with the Chinese zodiacs (as we all have at some point I'm sure). I initially gifted her and the rest of the characters to my friend, so she had some character to write for. I've since asked if I could work on her story again and we work together with the setting for story congruency.

This kinda takes me to my current studies which is that I want to make interesting characters with appeal. I came into Dragon's redesign with some new tips from youtube about art appeal, specifically: Appeal - The MAGIC Tool to Improve Your Characters After watching that, I'd come faced with a long problem I've had in my art which is proportions, the bane of all artist. I remembered a rule that I've always chosen not to listen to for god knows what reason, the rule of heads (9 heads is like the proportion of a persons body blah blah yall know this one). I'm more of a "just get good" kinda person and prefer not to measure things as I get lost in them later in the piece.

I tested it out here as like a side by side to see how I normally draw, from imagination, just raw dogging it, and then did another drawing trying to incorporate the measurements and I realized how much I sucked at drawing then.

I looped back around to a character that I've had for a long time, oldies are the goodies, Brook, who I always seemed to draw with a head slightly to big for his body. I think this was a crutch at some point, I think the design may have gave him an innocent look that I've always visualized. So I was having fun making him actually look like a 20 something year old then a teenager.

Eventually I circled back to Olivia and began working on her design with a little more confidence. When I initially made Dragon and all of the other zodiacs, I had big ideas of making their silhouettes easy to read and to show off their character.

My old crutch, as many share with me, was having different hair styles. You can see that between Jace and Brook who look very similar, but rock different hairstyles.

This was a bit ago trying to work on that problem, trying to distinguish them with their body types because the story kinda supports them looking the same. I decided to work with shape language to accomplish that.

At the same time as those drawings, I was making characters for my animatic called Unicorn Hunters (you can watch that there). Taking a break from that project, I drew those characters in an alternate universe where they're just alt kids.

Anyways, art is hard and I wanted to post this mainly for myself because I always forget the little steps like this that keeps my art in line.

hi! i have a question regarding black hair!! as a straight haired european myself, im currently doing so much research on it for character design, but whenever i search for references i feel like the hairs that show up are always professionally done.

my character has 3B-4B type curls. he isnt in the best financial situation, so hair care isnt available to him and hes never slept in bonnets. he hasnt gotten a haircut since he was a kid. how long do you think his hair would be now at 20 years old? what would the texture end up looking like? and what is the most natural hair style that could develop from this routine? i hope my english made sense!

im gonna assume the haircare you're talking about is hydrating it every month and trimming the ends every now and then but still being able to wash it every week

if he didn't really cut it then it probably almost all the way down his back i think?

if you don't really have at least a basic haircare routine then it's gonna look a bit dry

for hairstyles unfortunately i don't have much ;) maybe braids, that are easier to manage and last a while (although sometimes they are pricey to get depending if you get fibers or who you're doing it with) or a bun (when i didn't have a gonnet i used to do a pineapple bun [<- link to google] to sleep because it's easy and works to let it nice when you wake up)

Hello anon! Yes I have tips! For me, faces are easy so I will try my best to give very good instructions!

Olga had very wide eyes and a big forehead.

When she little, she was the tallest out of her siblings so she can be easily pointed out, but when she was around 16 (1911), her sister Tatiana started getting taller than her, and when she was around 18-20, her sister Maria also got taller than her.

Tatiana had almond shaped eyes and a small head.

She was known for her “sphinx like beauty” and was the slimmest out of all of the girls. She is known for her short hairstyle worn in 1914. She also was the tallest out of the 4 girls from 1911 until their death in 1918!

Maria had wide eyes and a bulky head

She was the heaviest out of the 4 girls (no offense Mashka!) and was known for her big eyes, commonly called within the family as “Marie’s Saucers”

Anastasia had thin eyes and a long head

She had long hair for most of her life so when the older girls were putting their hair up, she still had it down so she is easier to identify!

I just finished having a long conversation with my friend about this but I’m 10000% convinced that Sergio Ramos has naturally curly/wavy hair but has never explored it before. Here’s an extensive list as to why:

1. Whenever his hair is wet, either with water or sweat or some other liquid, you can clearly see that his hair goes from pin straight to wavy. This might not seem like much, but for people who have ‘secret’ wavy/curly hair one of the only times it’s shown is when it’s wet. This is probably bc it’s being relaxed and brought back to its natural form with science or smth (I literally did Bio A-Levels 🤦‍♀️ anyways) but its basically the only time the pattern is able to be shown. Throughout the day things that stress your hair such as heat, brushing it, weather, hairstyles or other products can really fuck up the curl pattern, but once you relax it and wash everything out its essentially in it’s natural state.

2. The actual products he uses. It’s quite obvious that over the years, Ramos’ hair has gone through a lot of changes. Bleaching and other chemical hair dyes, hair gel, hair spray, and being continually stressed by being pulled back into a ponytail or bun are all ways you can fuck up your hair, and, mess with your hair’s texture. It’s a very well known fact that bleaching your hair is the worst thing you can do it to, only being equalised with relaxing and perms, and, well, Ramos hasn’t exactly been good in the sense of keeping his hair virgin pure (aka not dying it). He’s done it about three times in his career, which is surprisingly only 20 years long, so that’s estimated one bleach cycle every 6 years, which is not enough time for your hair to fully heal. That mixed with products mixed with constant heat means his hair is really, really damaged. Meaning his hair texture is also damaged.

3. Hair length. Even though his long hair is famous, for a lot of his career and childhood Ramos has had short hair. It's no secret that having short hair means less work, but that also goes for terms of showering and styling. You don't need to shower as often be it's less noticeable if your hair is greasy, and if you have short hair you don't really need to style it, you can just kinda wake up and flip it or brush it a bit and you're golden. Bc of this, short hair doesn't really give you the option to explore your hair texture. It doesn't give you enough opportunities (god this sounds so stupid for you to try out new things because why try out a new hair product when you don't actually need it. With the way his hair is now, it's shaved on the sides but still a bit long, but he's able to slick it back easily with gel. Gel = harmful hair product that harms your hair pattern, short hair = easy to style and ignore. Boom, two birds with one stone. Also he’s shaved his head a couple of times which should be obvious as to why his hair texture won’t show.

3 1/2. If you look at his hair when it’s short with no product (aka PSG days on his insta) you’ll see that his hair is very fluffed up. From experience and from what I’ve seen, ppl who brush their short curly/wavy hair will make it very fluffed up and frizzy. Not exactly like what his pictures show, but very similar, which makes me further believe that his hairstyle is also prohibiting him from unlocking this style.

4. Exposure. He's never really been exposed to people with wavy or curly hair, so he's never been told what he's doing wrong. Almost every person he's played with have straight hair, and any other player is black with coily hair, a completely different texture. No one would be able to recognise that what he's doing is wrong, meaning no one would be able to question the products he's using and if it's right for him. From what l've seen his family all have straight hair, and with siblings he's most likely had to share hair products growing up, including shampoos/conditioners. If you don't know your hair texture and you use the wrong products, your body is basically going to force your hair to adapt to the texture of the product you're using. That's why things like "curly hair products" exist, because it's made only for people with curly hair, anyone else it would probably mess with their hair or make it greasy or frizzy. Same thing goes for curly/wavy hair: if you use products made for straight hair it's going to basically "train" your hair into "acting" like straight hair. And like I said, with no one to tell you otherwise, you're going to continue to use the wrong products, meaning your hair will always act like it's straight.

5. I’ve literally had the exact same thing happen to me and all the points are taken from my life and experiences. Long story short, not a lot of people in my family have curly or even wavy hair. Thick hair, yes. Textured hair, no. And because of that I always assumed that it was the same for me, that I had thick but straight hair, so I’ve always treated my hair like straight hair. Until when I turned 16 and I got taken to this very fancy bougie hair salon and the lady there scrubbed my scalp within an inch of my life with fancy hair products I’ve never used before, and when I came back to the mirror my hair basically fluffed and bounced up into lovely little waves. And I asked what she did to my hair and she said she just washed it, and that’s when I realised that for my entire life I have had wavy hair but haven’t even been treating it right so I’ve never been able to see it until now. He is literally me but he hasn’t discovered it yet. Pilar get to work!!!!

6. All his children have curly/wavy hair, and unless Pilar has been wearing a wig this entire time to hide her magical curls, that hair texture has got to come from somewhere. Like literally look up his kids and look at their hair texture and you’ll see what I mean. Especially Alejandro, he has super curly ends.

7. Extra point. When talking to my friend she pointed out that taking away my short hair theory, he's always had straight hair as a child, with absolutely no sign of anything curly. To that I say hormones and puberty! It's a very simple fact that during puberty your hair can change texture, and that's because of hormones. Just like how if you get pregnant you can get curly hair, or if you go through chemo you can develop curly hair. It's all hormones, and that's probably what he went through, further proving my point that he doesn't know what he's doing with his hair. Going from straight hair to wavy/curly is very abrupt and he probably noticed it but didn't know how to deal with it, especially back then when the internet wasn't around so you couldn't look up what to do with curly hair or what products are best. So he continues using straight hair products and keeps on damaging his hair.

In conclusion, Sergio Ramos has curly/wavy hair.

History:

Born as the eldest child to her parents, with Yugi following after two years. Her father disappeared from their life not long after her brother was born and she doesn't have any real memory of him and is happy enough not needing to seek him out.

Grew up with a group of friends very dear to her and she developed deep bonds with and are the exact reason Yugi craves that connection with people; he saw the example from her.

Their mother passed away when Nana was eight and Yugi was six, leading to them living with their grandparents at the game shop full time; they'd been helping watch after them since they were little after all.

Yugi finds the Puzzle a year afterwards and while Nana tried solving it herself, found it was better to let Yugi try (mostly because she got frustrated)
