D.W. McLachlan responds to the recent discourse around COVID safety at meetings by comparing risk probabilities. Ultimately, it’s unclear what advantage we gain by refusing to protect each other from COVID, which poses an existential threat to any organizing effort.
A recent tweet by @timerube of New York City DSA (Democratic Socialists of America, a big-tent socialist organization in the United States, the largest of its kind) has prompted outrage and division among the so-called left along lines of COVID mitigation.
This letter is not about litigating who is and isn’t a proper socialist based on their use of personal protective equipment. I don’t care what you call yourself or other people. This is a letter about how you need to account for reality in your organizing or you won’t be effective in reality. If you want to normalize COVID, you need to account for the effects of that decision and mitigate the risks it poses.
Let’s describe the landscape of risks that is likely to be familiar to many readers. Imagine that you work at a grocery store and want to secure anti-fatigue mats at workstations. Eventually, you will likely need to meet with your coworkers to decide the steps you’ll take to pressure management to meet your demands. Most of these co-workers will need transportation to make it to the meeting. Transportation involves risk. If you held 10,000 of these meetings over time in the United States, there’s a good chance that there would be a fatality due to a car accident on the way to one or two of those meetings (based on average US traffic fatality rates of 13.8 per 100 000 people). As anyone who has had to work long hours on hard, cold floors can attest, you’re much more likely to face consequences from the working conditions in this example than you are from traffic accidents. So, is it worth the risk? We can make the choice even clearer by encouraging remote meeting and transportation by even safer means like bus or train. 10,000 meetings is about 10 years of weekly meetings. At the end of this simple calculation, it makes sense to meet since meeting is likely the only path to victory and won’t expose participants to very much risk. This is not an endorsement of the rates of traffic accidents. The fact that we need to bear this risk in order to organize is itself a loss, but we did fight for decades to mitigate this risk so it doesn’t immediately threaten our movements on its own.
Of course, the biggest risk of meeting with your coworkers (in person with no mitigations) during the ongoing COVID–19 pandemic is not dying in a traffic accident, not by a long shot. COVID will impact your organizing ability if you don’t mitigate the risk. Using the same example, let’s imagine that you get 300 of your grocery store coworkers (you work in a chain of grocery stores) together for a meeting in person with no COVID mitigations. This meeting takes place in an NYC church on November 11, 2024. According to our best modeling, 1 in 113 people in NYC were likely infectious on November 11th. So you almost certainly have at least two contagious co-workers in the meeting. They will likely infect 10–25 people at your meeting (Omicron has an R0 of 10-25, so each person infects 10 to 25 other people over the course of their infection. This information is discussed in the post-script). At Dynamic Zero, we’re using an average Long COVID per infection rate of 20% and the reasoning is discussed at length in the Summer 2024 Seasonal Update. Imagining that the chain of infection ends there, with a 20% rate of Long COVID resulting from these infections, your meeting will permanently harm 2–5 of your activists. The disability resulting from that harm may not be total (for example, losing one’s sense of smell can be devastating but it’s unlikely to prevent labor action), but the effect is cumulative. This will happen every meeting. This is beyond the impact of the acute phase of the disease itself, which lasts 10-14 days on average. The equivalent to the disability risk in our original example would mean a rate of being disabled by a vehicle accident of 8,333 per 100,000, which is 603 times higher than what our society bears as “acceptable risk” for traffic fatalities.
This will not be your only meeting, of course, and the risk doesn’t stop after the first meeting. The fight for any improvement in working conditions usually takes months or years, as any experienced activist will tell you. 5 out of 300 is 1.6%. How many meetings can you host like this before your entire body of 300 coworkers has been maimed by COVID infections? Approximately 62 meetings. As an activist for climate justice prior to 2020, I personally attended 4–6 meetings a week. Each meeting also means that 8.3% of your labor pool for actions will be sick for up to two weeks. At best, they will make mistakes and need more rest. It’s likely that they will need material support and community care, which is a wonderful product of our activism but it takes more effort away from actions that work toward our demands. If we don’t want to mitigate the effects of this risk, we need to account for it and describe a plan to win even with such high rates of attrition. I personally don’t believe it’s possible to attrite a significant portion of your organizers each meeting and win, that seems like a dead end.
This is all beyond considering the frankly ghoulish opposite side of the equation. We grudgingly risk traffic accidents so we can organize for a better world. What do we get for risking COVID infections? We refuse to wear masks so we can feel normal? We refuse to clean the air so we don’t have to think about how the authorities are lying to us? Or about how each of us is vulnerable to Long COVID? Is it the snacks? I can’t really imagine what’s on the other side of the equation for the COVID denialists that makes it worth it to refuse to mitigate the risk so fervently.
Several people discussing the original tweet have called people asking for mitigations of this risk (which means filtering the air, getting vaccinated regularly, and wearing respirators indoors) “COVID Dead-enders”. This is a very obvious projection. The (extremely optimistic, since it assumes no other community spread and only one meeting per week) alternative to mitigation is to maim a group of 300 activists every year or two just with meetings. How many groups of 300 activists have you got?
My argument is that our bourgeois civil leadership has decided that it’s normal to make every public space invisibly hazardous by systematically promoting COVID reinfection and removing the tools people need to inform and protect themselves from the threat. This is a form of social control since it makes resistance without COVID mitigation hazardous. Your meeting itself is a source of harm and attrition if you don’t mask and clean the air. Who’s working for the feds here?
D.W. McLachlan
Post-script: On R0, Rt, Variants, Immunity, and Bullshit Regarding the ability to model and predict how many people will be infected in a given meeting, it’s important to note that the quality of this data is not very good and the situation is certainly worse than it appears because of the Biden administration’s widespread suppression of testing and data collection. However, if we accept official figures, the 2–3 people with COVID at your 300-person meeting certainly have a subvariant of Omicron. Data on Long COVID rates are impacted by the same suppression as testing and reporting, but the math is easy to adapt.
R0 and Rt are statistical figures that represent how contagious a particular disease is. R0 is also called the "basic reproduction number." Rt is the "effective reproduction number," which accounts for immunity in the population from vaccination and prior infection. An R0 of 2 means that each person first infected with a disease will spread it to two others.
I use the R0 of Omicron in the article for several reasons:
First, it’s unclear how the situation has changed due to the suppression of testing and reporting noted above. Wastewater data is notoriously inappropriate for comparing between different waves of COVID infection because of the nature of “normalization target, qPCR chemistry, and watershed scale”. We don’t have a collection method and context that can produce a reliable updated R0 or Rt number for a given variant that accurately determines an individual’s risk and how that has changed since Omicron.
Second, just because public health officials have abandoned the precautionary principle doesn’t mean we should too. Our leaders all over the imperial core have abandoned many aspects of prosocial thinking and policy to protect profits. I am not motivated to discipline myself by the malice of my enemies. The traffic accident analogy is still apt. I don’t know how likely it is to save someone when I prioritize distributing bus tickets at a meeting. I just know that if I didn’t, and someone was hurt, I would forever question whether I could have prevented their suffering with a simple bus ticket. The respirator is analogous to the bus ticket for handling the risk of infecting your comrades with COVID.
Third, it doesn’t actually matter. I don’t need to know the exact number against which I weigh your life before I act to protect you. We need each other and I don’t want you to get hurt.

2024 Fic Roundup
Thanks @bellisima-writes for the tag!
What fandoms do you write for?
Only Good Omens. I can’t explain why but that show has been the only one that has ever inspired me this much.
How many words have you published in 2024?
Oh wow I just checked and I guess that would be 41,513 in total 🙈
What is your greatest achievement this year?
I was pretty proud of Dream A Little Dream of Me when I finished that, but now I guess I’d say that my greatest achievement is not giving up on a story I believe in (current WIP) despite everything that has happened in the fandom as well as in my personal life. I don’t expect it to reach “fandom classic” status, it’s probably going to end up flying somewhat under the radar, but that’s okay. I don’t need a lot of attention as some sort of “reward” for my hard work, I just want to write.
What are your top 3 favorite fics you wrote this year?
The Road Less Traveled (WIP)
Rating: unrated
Word count (current): 12,143
The road is Crowley’s only friend in the wake of Aziraphale’s departure. Endless landscapes, filled with the memories of a simpler time, becoming nothing more than a blur as the demon drove impossibly fast to avoid even a glance in its direction.
Maybe he’s running from his past, but is it truly possible to run forever?
It’s A Big, Lonely Universe Out There
Rating: Mature
Word count: 5,618
Crowley softened, watching Aziraphale’s terrified eyes imagine the lonely existence he was dangerously close to. He began to feel the drafty air in Heaven that was just a little bit too cold, a headache forming from the blinding white that covered every inch of that space. The looming threat of being tossed into the fiery pits of Hell over the tiniest hint of disobedience, with nobody there to come to his rescue. The cold stares of his colleagues, each and every one of them glaring at him with disdain and disapproval over the blasphemous ways in which he’d chosen to spend his time on earth. It was cold, so cold.
“Please don’t leave me alone.”
***
It's 1941 in London, England, and Aziraphale & Crowley have had a very eventful evening. The night is almost over when they're sat in the middle of a dimly-lit bookshop, wine glasses in hand. Things may start to go awry when they get a little too drunk, and start admitting things they probably shouldn't.
Find Me In Your Dreams, My Dear/Le Chant du Rossignol (Song of the Nightingale)
Parts 1 and 4 of Dream A Little Dream of Me. Part 1 was the first time I stepped out of my shell a little bit and had someone beta read, and I was really happy with the final product after that (thanks @serenity-black !). You definitely have to read parts 2 and 3 in order to understand what’s going on in Le Chant, but I felt better about how part 4 was written. I guess the more action-packed parts of the stories I write are not totally my strong suit, maybe I’m better at the emotional aspect; what’s going on in these characters’ heads before and after the big event.
What have you learned?
From a technical standpoint I learned a lot about formatting/basic grammar rules for writing a story with dialogue and all that 😅
But I’ve also learned a lot more about myself and what I apparently love to do. Big thanks to the GO fandom for reintroducing me to the joys of reading and writing 🥰
Also I researched a fuckton of random topics for these works, and anyways now I’m a lot more familiar with the map of Europe and I know a lot about Centaurus/Alpha Centauri
What fic did you want to do but never made it off the ground?
I tried joining one of those fic bangs this spring because I thought it would bring me more out of my shell, and it kind of did in a way but overall it just didn’t work out. I was excited about collaborating with people and making connections, but it wasn’t exactly like that and the fic itself just wasn’t sparking anything in me. It felt more like a job than something I was doing for fun 🤷♀️
Did you beta any fics?
I honestly don’t remember lmao
I don’t think so?
What three fics have you read this year that you love?
Phersu by JunKolt
I absolutely LOVE any fics that place Aziraphale and Crowley in different moments in history, especially when you can tell that the writer really did their research and the historical accuracy is THERE. Beautifully written, romantic, very bittersweet.
Don’t Fall Away From Me by @phoen1xr0se
Technically I read this at the very end of 2023 but I’m counting it anyway
If this fic has no fans I am dead. Fr. Absolutely brilliant. Bravo fellow moot👏👏👏
run across the river (just to hold you tonight) by hope_in_the_dark
Yk I had to throw in a short one just for good measure
Short, sweet, beautiful writing. Perfect for a lil bed time story from time to time, as a treat
Who do you want to thank?
The first one who comes to mind is @thavron who asked me to join their writing group for November (now continuing on into December ofc)! Without the little extra push that your server has given me, I honestly don’t know that I would’ve kept going with my current WIP despite how much I do believe in it. Big thanks ✌️💜
Thanks to @serenity-black (and also Aves whose Tumblr I don’t believe I have if they’re even on here) for beta-reading! It felt weirdly vulnerable to ask someone to take a look at my writing and tell me what they thought but I’m glad I did it and thank you for being so encouraging when you did☺️
Thank you to @thinkinginscripts @butterflywithsass and @manicpixiecatlady for working with me on the “fanfic book club” for the Good Omens fandom! I think it’s been wonderful so far 🥰
And a big thank you to every person who has left a nice comment on my works, you have no idea what that means to me
Happy holidays! ✌️🎄

── the heavens and the skies alight !
hello everyone!! this post is about the information that i have about the reality that i mainly want to go to with shifting. but, i wont be including everything for the sake of my own privacy and convenience. thank you. — 🍀
section one — myself
» an interdimensional wanderer known as 'voyager'. they work as a solitary magical girl who has the ability to travel to differing worlds in the search of new experiences and to satisfy their own curiosity. quiet and reserved, they travel with their familiar wherever they go...
» voyager is an outsider to teyvat. they were originally recognized as the strict but awkward student journalist and class officer in their home reality, and alternatively leading a double life as a magical girl behind the scenes. this part of themselves remained silent, knowing how to blend in with the background here in teyvat.
» the same way they do their best to perform their duties as a magical girl in their home world, they also do their patrols here in order to hunt down apparitions that steal people's hopes, dreams, and desire for life. though this same responsibility is what led to an accidental encounter between voyager and someone who eventually became an important aspect of their life.
» they work with aether and paimon, but not all the time. they pursue their own interests and ensure that they still have the opportunities to do as they wish, occasionally sneaking around to study about the nation they travel to. though voyager can be often found reading in libraries, sketching out various sceneries and people, buying trinkets in shopping districts, or going to places who knows where.
section two — worldbuilding
» id prefer if celestia doesnt give me a vision. 🙏
» this teyvat has a timeline of events similar to the game version. each and every person here has their own life, thus the world doesnt necessarily revolve around me. everyone is psychologically three dimensional, meaning that they have depth regardless of whether or not they're considered as a playable character or npc in the game version.
» each country blossoms with their own kind of beauty. there is this richness in cultural heritage and history, giving a sense of belonging or comfort to those that reside in them. there's a plethora of festivities, artistry, and literature unique to these places. clothing styles and trends are far from being hyper-sexualized and people's appearances are accurate to how their surroundings can have an influence on it (example: accurate skin tones that depend on environmental and biological factors).
section three — vibes
» songs by lamp, ichiko aoba, wave to earth, beabadoobee, and meaningful stone. visual aesthetics reminiscent of the show frieren. the movie lily chou chou and pmmm rebellion. 01, 02, 03. the song virtual angel by artms for the magical girl aspect.
» a quiet life carries a soft and calming atmosphere, balancing out the moments that may feel turbulent with ones painted in the gentle colors of nostalgia. everything feels peaceful, with landscapes that feel timeless...
section four — playlist
» 晴る by yorushika
» 勇者 by yoasobi
» dawn in the adan by ichiko aoba
» phi-2 by hoyo-mix
» lovers' oath by yu-peng chen

Basically, Angel comes to help Spike after he escapes from the Initiative, getting a call from Giles/a vision from Cordelia, because he's my blorbo and needs some love <3
Part 2
---
Cordelia had never really been afraid of Angel's driving before, he had a good few years on her in terms of experience. However, speeding so fast that the desert was more of a long dark tan blur was...unsettling, and a look in the backseat only confirms the speed is terrifying. Wesley gripped the backseat with one hand, the other clinging to the door so tight his knuckles were white as he tried to focus on anything that wasn't the blurred landscape.
Angel wasn't concerned as much as the others were, a sign noting Sunnydale was soon in their sights flashing by as he kept speeding towards the town he didn't think he'd be seeing so soon.
"So, how do you know Spike won't just try and kill you?" Cordelia half-yelled as the town began to appear before them.
"Oh, he will." Angel knows Spike, has for a long time, and just how much of a bastard he could be. "Or, I think he'll try."
"This chip may prevent that." Wesley piped up, finally releasing the seat when Angel finally slowed down to a reasonable speed.
"Mhm." Angel's grip tightened on the wheel, and he forced himself to relax as they headed for Giles' place. "The cooler still cold?"
"Yes Angel, as it shall remain until we break the seal." Wesley glanced over at a cooler in the foot well, filled to the brim with fresh blood.
"Good, good." Angel sighed as he cruised familiar streets, finally parking outside Giles' neighborhood, raising an eyebrow when Wesley all but bolted from the car. "What?"
"He's probably worshipping stable ground after your atrocious driving." Cordelia smiled, having also quickly unbuckled and gotten out with a relieved sigh.
'What she said." Wesley mumbled, watching Angel stop long enough to lock the car before he was gone in the blink of an eye. "Ruddy vampire speed...should we stay here? I doubt Spike is here, by the cooler he left behind, and he may need our encouragement and support."
"No, get your bag before he comes back." The other shook her head, moving for the trunk. "Giles said Spike was pretty bad, and just having us with our beating hearts and pumping blood will not help."
"....right, fair point." Wesley moved to assist, pausing only to move the cooler to the passenger seat. By the time they've gotten their bags out Angel appears on the hood of his car, thumb tapping against the warm metal nervously.
"Giles said he'll have us tonight, we'll update you later." Cordelia smiled, circling the car to give Angel a small hug. "Good luck with Spike, I'm going to source out the blood scene here...just in case."
"...thanks." Angel looked uncomfortable with the contact, but reached up with his free arm to pat her hand before Cordelia let him go. "Be safe, okay?"
"Always."
----
Angel is surprised the mansion he used to stay in is still there.
He's positive the Initiative would know about it, but a scan of the area after parking his car out of sight revealed no soldiers or devices of any kind. He's not oblivious to the quiet scuffling of someone inside his former home, however, and after grabbing some things from the trunk and the cooler, Angel heads inside. The scuffling stops entirely the moment he heaves the door open with his shoulder, and after closing the door, he drops his bags.
"I'm walkin' in slowly, so try not to jump at me like a feral cat or something." It's silent, big shocker there, and the older vampire progresses further into the house. Spike should have said something by now as Angel looked around, finally zeroing in on some disturbed dust leading towards the basement, and Angel went down maybe one step before the smell of antiseptic and other nasty things laced the air. "Spike?"
There is no answer, and Angel moves faster this time.
The first thing he sees is Spike's beloved duster on the ground, two large holes dragged down the back, and Angel can feel dried blood around the holes when he picks up the familiar leather. "Okay, Spike, where are you?"
Again, there is silence.
Angel's face shifts with a deep breath, and tilts his head when he hears sudden scuffling coming from his left. "Spike..."
He's not expecting the visceral snarl before he's suddenly knocked to the floor, snatching a pale fist before it connects with his face as Spike pins him to the floor with his other hand, crouched over the other man. Whatever retort he had died on his lips when Angel took one look at the other vampire, gut coiling at his condition.
Spike looked like shit.
No, scratch that, worse than shit. He's a shade or two paler than normal, which while that's a feat in and of itself, the grey veins all over exposed arms and bits of his face that weren't covered in nasty bruises were not normal. Nor were the reddened eyes that focused on everything yet nothing, chipped teeth bared as he hissed at his grandsire in warning or fear, Angel couldn't tell.
"Spike, listen to me." Angel watches dulled blue eyes dart around before staring at his face, and it's a start. "You're going to let me go, right now." There's a quiet growl in response to his words, but the arm pinned to the floor is slowly released as Spike backpedals before Angel can open his mouth, scrambling back until he's clear across the room pressed against the wall. Angel's seen that sort of behavior before, sitting up and shimmying out of his coat, tossing it just far enough to land at Spike's feet.
"Put it on, you're freezing." Slowly getting up and onto his feet, Angel watched as Spike stared at the jacket with a head cocked to the side, a trembling hand reaching out and poking it before whipping it back, as if expecting pain. When none makes itself known, Spike snatches the warm fabric and pulls it around his shoulders like a blanket, snarling when the now human-faced Angel approaches with a box.
"I have blood." The seal Wesley had conjured a few hours ago breaks when the lid is lifted, and the older vampire grabs the closest packet before closing the lid, turning to the cowering vampire. "O Neg, your favorite." He's fairly surprised when Spike scoots away from him, backing himself into a corner while eyeing the blood bag like it was going to stake him at any second.
Angel doesn't like the fear in his eyes.
"Okay, it's okay." Angel turned back to the cooler and set the bag inside, digging around to find a glass bottle he'd stuffed inside just in case they needed a small container for...well, at the time he hadn't been sure. However, he wasn't going to complain, filling it up from the blood in the packet before turning to Spike. He's properly put the coat on during his quick transfer of blood, and Angel can only hope the other doesn't tear any holes in it as he approaches Spike, kneeling down when he's close enough to hold out the bottle.
"Drink."
Spike stares at the bottle, then Angel, then back at the bottle over and over for a few minutes, before after what feels like an eon he snatches the bottle and downs it. It's a messy affair, Spike's hands trembling enough to cause some blood to drip down his chin, and as much as Angel would like to help, he knows for a fact the smaller man would try and rip out his throat, so he doesn't. The bottle is cradled to Spike's chest when he finishes, Spike burrowing himself into the large jacket as if it was going to hide him away from the world.
"It's okay, it'll be alright."
Angel shudders when he feels the familiar presence of Angelus surface from the dark depths of their shared mind, watching as Angel picks up his progeny and heads for the upper floor of the mansion. Spike is deposited on the couch so Angel can start a fire, moving to the bedroom afterward to shake off the dust and cover the bed with fresh sheets he'd brought from L.A.
"I can feel your anger," Angel murmurs to the empty room, cracking his neck when he receives an almost imperceptible growl from somewhere in the back of his mind. "For once, I agree. As much as Spike has been a pain in the fucking ass, he didn't deserve what he got, and I'm not leaving this shithole until I find who did this."
The beast fades away, but Angel knows it won't be for long, able to feel the thrumming of anger under his skin as he goes back for Spike. The pale man doesn't register being picked up, Angel shakes his head as Spike is laid on the bed, pausing to throw the blanket over the sleeping male before letting Spike have the room to himself.
---
Spike slept for a solid 48 hours, Angel dropping in every few hours to force blood down the Brit's throat. Some color has returned to, his admittedly already pale skin, and the rim around his eyes looks like a pale sunburn rather than the effects of starvation. It's better than nothing the older vampire supposed, eventually heading out to pick up more blood for the both of them. It felt strange stalking the streets of Sunnydale after all this time, ignoring the flashes of fear from various demons as he collected the blood he needed from the few sources dotted around town. Eyes are watching as he takes the time to stop at some clothing stores, the duffel bag he'd brought full to the brim by the time he'd checked off his list and headed back for the large home.
Spike is waiting for him.
He's perched on the back of the couch, those dulled eyes sizing Angel up as he slowly sets his bag down.
"Someone's up."
Spike doesn't respond, he just watches.
"Well, I got you some clothes and stocked up on blood, so you're welcome." Angel crossed his arms over his chest, unsure if Spike was even registering what he was saying. "Even scored some of that black nail polish you like, because I'm nice like that."
Spike raises an eyebrow as he scowls, and Angel rolls his eyes.
"That's something, I guess." No longer worried about the other lashing out, Angel scoops up the bag and heads for the kitchen, able to feel Spike's stare as he moves. "The Initiative-" The word is barely past his lips when there's a snarl, and Angel barely has enough time to chuck the bag on the counter before Spike tackles him to the floor, and Angel wishes the floor was carpeted as he slams into concrete.
"You will not send me back!"
It's a frenzied thing that forces its way out of Spike's mouth, and Angel lies completely still as the younger vampire pins him down, eyes darting around the room as he keeps low to the floor.
"They won't find you." Spike snarls again, focusing on Angel's face with an angry look. "They won't touch you."
"That's all they want, touch and take." Spike jerks away, crouching at Angel's feet while hugging himself. "I can't touch them the bloody bastards."
"What do you mean?" Angel can feel Angelus slowly rise again as he sits up, Spike trembling as he curls in on himself.
"Somethin' is in me 'ead, I can't fight, can't hunt, can't feed." Taking a deep breath for a heart that no longer beats, Angel scoots closer, blue eyes looking over before either could blink. "I'm so hungry..."
"I know." Angel sets one of his hands on Spike's shoulder, the other freezing as he stares at the man who shouldn't be this kind, this close, this bloody nice.
Falling into the waiting embrace was never so easy, and Spike decides that oblivion is a nice treat, going limp in familiar arms. He wouldn't be surprised if he never awakens, but just for a selfish moment his grandsire is there to protect him, and it makes the pain lessen just a little bit.
Angel is not as calm, carrying Spike back to the couch and setting him down before grabbing his phone. It takes him a second to pull up Cordelia's number (he still hates these things, if only she let him cast a communication spell) and dial, pacing back in forth in front of the fireplace until she answers.
"Hey, boss man."
"I want to talk to that Riley kid, and I want to talk to him yesterday."
"Okie dokie, just promise me you won't try and kill the guy?"
"...."
"Oh man." Cordelia looks over from her spot on Giles's couch, at Riley and Buffy sitting together at the table and chatting with quiet voices about something.
Angel was pissed, so this kid was screwed.

Technically Part 2 of this but you don't need to read the first part WARNING: BG3 post-game spoilers! WARNING: Sexual content The lock turned with a familiar 'click' before the door creaked open. Tav pushed it with her shoulder, her attention on the bags and basket in her arms. She shuffled her hold on them, careful not to drop any of the items she'd spent the evening purchasing.
"I'm home!" she called despite the obvious ruckus she was making. The response came first in the form of a little hum of acknowledgement.
"Welcome back, my love. Let me help you with that." Astarion appeared from the kitchen of their little apartment, moving to take one of Tav's bags and free her arm.
"Thank you-"
Tav's words faced a wall of soft lips pressing against her own, if only for a beat, and Astarion pulled back with a smile.
"It's my pleasure," he purred, the tone alone bringing some heat to her face, "How was your outing?"
"Good. I got enough supplies to last us a few days. Oh, and the paper for today."
After delivering the goods onto a table in the kitchen, Tav returned to lock the door after herself. She could hear Astarion rummaging through the paper bags before returning to him.
"Did you get the good soap, like I asked?" he asked casually.
"Yes. It's in there. The people in the Upper City looked at me down their noses, by the way."
Astarion smirked.
"Ah, the dangers you face for my sake. The adventures of 'Yarkona the Courageous' never end! Our dear friend Volo is still working on that book, isn't he?"
Tav shook her head, electing not to answer, and grabbed another bag to pull out the fish and meat she'd purchased in order to store it. Meat was fickle and needed to be put away before it could spoil.
"You should consider bringing it in fresh, Darling. That way the both of us could enjoy the same dinner," stated Astarion in a playful tone. Tav rolled her eyes despite her smile.
"There's not exactly a great amount of prey in a city. At least, not the kind I'd agree to eat," she stated with a quirked brow. Astarion chuckled.
"Don't knock it 'til you try it, Love. The taste of an aberrant criminal can be quite... Addicting," he mused, darkened eyes quickly scanning Tav's frame, "Though, not quite as addicting as the treat I already have under my roof."
She couldn't help but let out a laugh. It was clear Astarion was in a good mood, and whenever he was, it was infectious.
"Is that a request for blood or sex?" she teased back, her head tilting and shoulders pulling to the front instinctively, as if to make herself more alluring. She didn't miss the way Astarion focused on her, his attention flicking across the shifting landscape of her appearance.
"Honestly, can't I lather compliments on my gorgeous lover without an ulterior motive? You hurt me," he purred without missing a beat, his smirk an obvious tell of his amusement.
"If that's all you wanted, feel free to keep going," Tav stated easily, turning to place fruits and vegetables into two baskets she had on the counter. She felt him move closer, now a blurry shape right at the edge of her vision.
"I can feel the way your heart is beating. Your body is already begging for me to pin you down and have my way with you," came the low voice she already knew to expect. Astarion's cool hand came to her chin, a single finger lifting it so her eyes would meet his. The hunger present in them created a pleasant knot in Tav's stomach.
"Mm, if you could see your face right now. Your eyes are like morning mist on a summer day, hazy with desire. The way that lovely red covers the shining copper of your skin with the slightest of touches," he continued, his hand moving to brush back some of the loose strands of hair framing Tav's face. The touch was so light it may have as well been done with a feather, causing a pleasant ticklish sensation. Her breath came out with a barely-there tremble.
"You just don't disappoint, do you?" she answered breathlessly, a smile tugging her lips, "You could sell me sand on the desert and I wouldn't question it once."
"As much as I enjoy hearing you sing my praises, you do make it easy. You're a phenomenal subject for flattery, of course, but also quite easy to please."
"I'm taking that as a good thing," Tav stated playfully, "But even so, I wouldn't react this way if it wasn't you weaving that poetry. I could-" she sighed, "I could listen to you recite the dictionary for a whole afternoon and be satisfied."
"Darling, I can do much better than the dictionary," Astarion stated, almost offended, and stepped all the way into Tav's personal space, "But right now I'd rather hear you recite pretty nonsense beneath me."
Before he was finished with his statement, Astarion's arms had snaked into a convenient grip around Tav. He lifted her into the air and against himself. Her ankles quickly linked around the Vampire before their lips connected in a passionate kiss.
The path into the bedroom wasn't long, but it was still awkward with an entire Wood Elf in his arms. Astarion released one hand from her thigh, albeit reluctantly, to use as his eyes while he fumbled through the doorframe. The journey was made all the more perilous by the continuous touching of their lips, hungry and needy with neither daring to pull away. When they eventually made it to the bed, they moreso ran into it rather than climbed on, falling into a mess of limbs and breathy moans as they went to shed each other of their suddenly bothersome layers of clothing.
Most of their good days were like this, had been ever since the Netherbrain was defeated. Not only had Astarion recently reclaimed sex as something he enjoyed, but the longest chunk of any day he had to spent cooped up indoors. With all that extra energy, it tended to be channeled toward his very willing partner every time they were in each other's reach. Which happened to be often, considering they shared a home. Most surfaces in the apartment had already been claimed for love-making, once or twice at the threat of the entire place burning down.
The surfaces where there was room were all covered in light sources, usually candles. That, and the occasional spell, kept the apartment as well lit as possible since the shining of the sun was no longer an option. The windows were covered with thick curtains, at least two over each to make sure light didn't breach them. Still, Tav was determined to keep color in Astarion's daily life, considering how obvious it was he missed it. In time, when they finally got an inkling of where to start, they'd graduate to sunlight. Or so she wished with all her heart.
The room previously filled with moans and creaks of a bedframe settled into a warm afterglow. Tav caught her breath where she laid on the sheets, beads of shining sweat decorating her skin like fine pearls. Astarion stretched out like a happy cat, resting on his stomach with his head pillowed in his arms. A smile still lingered on his lips while he enjoyed the sight of his spent lover.
"Well. That was fun," he stated, reaching out to toy with the end of Tav's long braid, "Though I didn't mean to wear you out completely, Darling. I could personally go for another round."
Tav laughed softly, shifting onto her side to face her partner.
"Give me a minute, my love. I'll bounce back," she countered lightly, "I was just out for hours, you know."
"Yes, I know. I missed you, if that wasn't painfully obvious."
Conflicted emotions surfaced at the admission, Tav's smile turning tight. She hated that she was the only real source of entertainment for Astarion. It was better than being forced to spend his nights unwillingly bedding strangers or being tortured, but it wasn't ideal. If it went on for too long, Astarion would begin to resent her instead of bathing her in affection each night. Not to mention the pressure this arrangement put on her to remain entertaining.
"I saw Blurg, by the way," she stated unbidden, placing her hand over Astarion's where it played with her.
"I know for a fact that isn't your usual idea of pillow talk," mused Astarion, his brow raised in curiosity. He turned his palm up and their fingers interlaced naturally. Tav chuckled.
"He was doing some experimentation on one of the... Dead tadpoles," Tav stated uneasily. Astarion picked up on this and squeezed her hand.
"And?"
"And... I don't know, I kind of spaced out after I saw the thing," she laughed, nervous, "It's so big when you think about how it... Goes into your eye, right? Disgusting."
"Yes, thank you, I don't need a reminder," Astarion stated, at least as squeamish about the experience as Tav was, "But I suspect you have a reason for bringing this up."
She blinked back into the present, the brief haze in her eyes gone.
"Not the worm thing, really. But we talked, after. I wanted to see if I could recruit his help."
Astarion perked up, lifting himself up halfway on his arms.
"Well, knowledge from the Underdark could come in handy, I suppose. While I'm not a fan, I can see the appeal it might hold for another Vampire. Who knows? Maybe there's answers there."
"That's what I thought. He said he'll look into things for us, which was sweet. Actually--"
Tav paused, an uncertain look crossing her face. Astarion felt it his cue to shuffle closer and let go of her hand to instead cup her jaw. A kiss was all it took to soften her expression.
"He said something that I thought was interesting. It could be nothing. But on the off chance that it is..."
"Oh, for gods sakes. Don't keep me in suspense, Dear. We've already been reading through a hundred books. I realize that's not much when we're looking for a needle in a haystack, but I'm tired of this pointless search. It would be nice to get a little lucky."
When Tav gave him an amused look, Astarion rushed to continue.
"In more ways than one," he purred, then leaned in to kiss her neck. Tav instinctively tilted her head to the side and let out a soft breath, the feeling of Astarion's lips trailing over her skin quite distracting.
"He, uh... He had this ring," she sighed, the kisses trailing lower down the center of her chest. He gently pushed her shoulder until Tav was laying on her back for better access.
"Silver, with a... Bright ruby on the center. Astarion," she moaned. Astarion's arm had snaked around her thigh while he sucked gently on the skin on the inner side. He raised his head with a mischievous hum and tilted his head, those white curls tickling her already sensitive skin.
"It's hard to talk when you're doing, well, that," Tav breathed. He chuckled low in return.
"And here I thought you enjoyed a challenge. Go on, pretty thing. Keep talking..."
She couldn't bear the distraction of both watching Astarion and feeling what he was doing. So she laid her head back onto the pillow, biting her lip to keep from voicing just how much she was enjoying herself.
"It was, it, uh..." she paused to swallow, hoping her voice wouldn't tremble the next time, "He called it 'Sunwalker's Gift.'"
Astarion's head lifted from where he'd focused his attention. Tav took the opportunity to breathe freely, rising onto her elbows to meet his eyes.
"It grants the wearer darkvision," she explained. Astarion frowned.
"Darling, we're Elves."
"I'm aware, thank you," she laughed, running her hand through his hair. Astarion climbed up Tav's body to rest his head against her shoulder.
"Apparently it's related to another piece of jewellery. He couldn't remember it in detail, but... I thought it was interesting. Maybe that other trinket could have a power related to the Sun, or darkness, somehow. That's the thought that crossed my mind, anyway."
She lowered her chin to meet Astarion's eyes. The uncertainty was back. She was scared to promise so much to him based on so little, but it could be a lead. If there was a magic ring, earring or necklace that could solve their problems, it was worth looking into.
"Hmm."
The response was lacking. Though it had initially unsettled her when Astarion suddenly went quiet, she now knew his silence to mean he needed to think. She decided to spend the time laying little kisses on the top of his head, her arm wrapping around his pale shoulders.
After a short time she was rewarded, his attention back on her. The Elf angled his chin so the next time Tav leaned in, their lips met. Astarion shifted until he was hovering over her, his red, pretty eyes half lidded.
"Well, it's something to look into. Thank you for telling me." Hips lips brushed against hers, parted, not quite a kiss. It had her heart skipping a beat all the same.
"It seems you still have something else on your mind," Tav teased, one of her knees rising to meet his interest. He sighed in response, landing another open mouthed kiss.
"I do," he admitted, sighing a second time when his lover shifted her leg, "But not just that."
Getting off her for now, Astarion sat up on his side of the bed. She followed his example, though brought some of their silky cover with her. Her love was very particular about the materials of their beddings - really anything they could afford to spend a little extra coin on. Which wasn't much, but she liked making him happy.
"I want to take you out. Find a nice place with music and drinks. Take a break from the libraries and the, quite frankly, dull time I have sitting at home by myself. Who knows? If you get me tipsy, maybe I'll even spin you across the dance floor."
A fondness swelled within Tav's chest that bled right into her expression. She placed her hand over Astarion's and squeezed it.
"Are you sure?"
Diving into the nightlife of Baldur's Gate seemed a double edged sword. So far it had been something Astarion dreaded to face again lest it set him off.
"Yes. I think it's about time I start rewriting those memories with better ones. Ones with someone I love, rather than whoever I had to seduce into Cazador's dungeon."
Tav cupped his face, pulling Astarion closer to brush her nose against his. He suppressed a laugh at the sentimental action, willing down the barrier he was subconsciously putting up. The conflict still had him averting his eyes.
"What do you say? Will you wear that delectable green dress you had on the other night?"
Her eyes widened briefly, followed by a bright smile.
"Oh, when they graciously awarded each of us with 5000 gold for saving the city?" she joked, "I didn't know you liked it that much."
"I was quite upset they wouldn't leave Karlach and Wyll's portions with us. For safekeeping! Aren't we the trusthworthy, brave heroes?" Astarion countered, "As for the dress. Darling, have you seen yourself? Most things look amazing on you. And off you."
Tav pursed her lips in amusement.
"You know that was an easy one."
"Yes," mused Astarion, placing his hands on her shoulders. He pulled her closer, kissing the space between her eyebrows. The next one was laid on her nose. Before he could get to her lips, Tav leaned in and completed the process for him. A little smirk and kisses that trailed to his ear were followed with shoving Astarion down into the beddings this time. She settled over him and dragged her teeth over his bottom lip, earning herself a groan.
"We're not in a hurry yet, are we?" she hummed, leaving Astarion just enough space to pull her back into him. They devolved into sighs and shuffling of sheets. Yes, they had their troubles. But just for the moment, those could wait, drowned in the desires of new love. Part 2 will appear at some point

The Paranormal Performer (IkeVamp; Luigi's Mansion AU, Part 2)
a/n: Decided to get this one out soon since Part 1 was more of a prologue. When your curiosity leads you to pulling a musician out of his muse, how will you survive his harmonic wrath? Happy reading! ✨
Series: Comte's Ghost Mansion Tags: Humor, Crack treated seriously, Luigi's Mansion AU, Spooky scary spectral vampires, Ghostbuster MC WordCount: ~1200 words Characters: You, Mozart Previous: Part 1 Next: Part 3
~*~
You lifted the oil lamp given to you by Sebastian to fight off the cold gloom of the mansion, shielding you with a warm, orange barrier. Your eyes adjusted to the darkness eventually. Trotting up the stairs, you opted to explore the east wing first.
A long hallway stretched before you, similar to the one you woke up in, if not the same one. Framed pictures hung against the wall that you passed by. Most of them were generic landscape paintings. You stopped at one that had a name engraved under it.
'Le Comte de Saint-Germain.'
It was terribly dusty. Curious, you removed the dust with the vacuum.
The force of its suction was much stronger than you expected. It latched onto the painting so hard you feared it would crumble and tear.
You, being an amateur at this, could not escape the dust storm that ensued from prying the vacuum off, sending you into a sneezing fit. You stumbled, crashing into something with your elbow. The crash of something fragile froze you in place. It sounded like porcelain.
Little embers illuminated the crime scene. You vacuumed the floor as well as you could, but the larger pieces remained as incriminating evidence. You pushed them under a chair, your sole witness, and hurried along.
“What Sebastian doesn’t know won’t hurt me,” you convinced yourself.
You peeked behind you, discerning if it was hidden enough from a distance. The darkness helped. For now.
Turning the corner, you slowed down to catch your breath. Oddly enough, lively piano music could be heard at the end of this new hallway. It was a catchy melody, one that had you walking in step with the tempo. It was hypnotizing in the way it made you forget what happened earlier. You followed the sound to its source, opening every door on the way. They were all locked.
“Aha!” Right outside where the music was loudest, the click of the doorknob meant you could go through.
You were met with a lone fortepiano in the middle of a pristine white room. Along one wall were instrument cases, probably for violins or violas. You struggled to tell them apart. From an arched window, moonlight peeked between the clouds, reflecting off the white keys in a heavenly glow. Little wispy particles danced in the air as the piano keys played themselves.
You stepped closer, mesmerized by the music, cheerful and uplifting. Familiar, the kind of merry tune that gathers dancing folk at a festival. The day before you visited the Louvre museum, you attended an orchestra concert celebrating Mozart’s 268th birthday. That must be where you heard it.
The piano played its last chord, drawing out its sound until it faded naturally. Scribbles appeared on sheet music paper leaning against the piano's rack, transcribed by a floating ink-stained quill. You blinked and tilted your head around the empty seat. Out of curiosity, you pressed some of the keys.
SLAM!
You jumped back and recoiled your hand, for a couple of reasons. One, the piano was out to get you for using it without permission. Two, there was now a fuming phantom-like figure sitting at the piano. His entire form was wrapped in an ethereal light, and you could see through him at certain angles.
“You dare interrupt my creative process?” His voice echoed in the room. “Have you no respect for a musician’s craft?!”
A gentleman, around the same height as Sebastian, stood up (he had no legs, you noted, so perhaps “floated up” may be more apt) and fixed a glare upon you. His white hair reached past his ears with a fringe swept in an arc, partially obscuring his striking lilac eyes. But it could not conceal the ire behind them. His figure towered over you as he drew near. If he was not about to kill you, you may have called him handsome.
“Hey, let’s talk about this,” you stalled as you fumbled to get your vacuum back on. “What you played was beautiful, I just didn’t notice that you were there.”
You could say he lacked stage presence, but you kept that to yourself.
He narrowed his eyes, keeping his distance from you. “That machine… Hmph, I won’t let you capture me that easily.” The instrument cases unzipped themselves, releasing floating violins from their sleep. They hovered beside the paranormal performer, who blocked your path to the exit. The violin strings acted as a crossbow for violin bows that materialized from thin air. They followed your every move.
You ducked just in time, and a violin bow zipped past you and shattered against the wall into a thousand sparks.
This ghost was not messing around!
At last, the vacuum whirred to life. It vibrated incessantly against your back, like a massage chair. Dodging with the machine proved difficult. You used the piano in the center as a shield, but you knew you had to confront the phantom eventually.
Your aim was shaky, but you managed to redirect the violins away from you. They took time to aim each shot. Once you figured out the rhythm of the attacks, you leveraged the downtime between each one to target the paranormal performer.
The tube latched onto his cravat, bending his figure like a boomerang. He flailed and stretched his arms beyond human proportions in search of an anchor. Struggling against his resistance, you cranked up the strength with an unsteady hand.
Stumbling around the room, you strained to keep the tube locked on its target. Try as he might to wiggle his way out, the paranormal performer proved no match against the Poltergust’s power. His shrieks filled the room, oddly melodic like he was singing his last goodbye to the world. Once he was fully captured, only the blare of the vacuum remained.
You breathed heavily, whirling around expecting more ghosts to pop up. Your whole body shook. You blamed the machine’s vibrations against your back. Seeing no further threats, you switched it off. The shaking didn’t stop.
“So,” you said. “Sebastian really was a ghostbuster, then.” And now, so were you.
You picked up the ink-tipped quill that the paranormal performer held. Beside it was a key. You twirled both items between your fingers. Normal to the touch, nothing magical about them.
“Was that one of the ‘esteemed guests’ I was supposed to avoid disturbing?” You scoffed. “Maybe he shouldn’t have disturbed me first!”
Feeling justified in your self-defense, you grabbed the sheet music and the quill and threw them into your item pouch. They seemed ‘of interest’ enough by your standards to return to the butler. At the very least, you had more questions for him. You kept the key in hand, maybe it would unlock one of the doors you passed by.
Stepping out of the room, you walked with a spring in your step. You just faced a ghost! And lived to tell the tale! Now knowing what you were up against, you kept your eyes peeled for any more irregular movements.
After reaching a dead end, you walked back by the broken porcelain in the first hallway. The painting of ‘Le Comte de Saint-Germain’ was still intact. You sighed in relief, and you could actually observe the painting properly.
The subject of the portrait gazed at you with mysterious amber eyes. There was wisdom behind his gaze, like that of a timeworn tome, and a touch of melancholy. His smile was warm and inviting but didn’t quite reach those eyes. Illuminated by the lamp, recognition washed over you. You’ve seen that same sweeping blond hair and tailored suit before.
It was the same man who you met at the Louvre!

Hi Gomz! Been so inspired by your art, I'm considering picking up digital drawing again haha. What device and app do you use? What would you recommend if I wanna restart drawing? Would be great if you can answer with doodles :D thanks!
Hello Cumi! Thank you very much for this ask, to think I can inspire other people with my doodles means a lot to me <;3 ((def not cryin rn))
In this ask response, I'll include some links that you can check out for the appropriate stuff! I hope you can understand some things by the end of it :D
Disclaimer: im no professional, so most of this is just based on my experience!!
Okie dokie first off:
What device and app do I use?
I draw using a drawing pad, the Deco Mini7 on my laptop, and I use Krita to draw :3
Krita is free to use! You can download it here, or if you can afford it, clip studio paint is definitely a popular choice out there, some people use adobe too!
I will say it may seem complicated at first BUT it is relatively easy to learn once you get the hang of it, there have a full tutorial on their website with videos included if you wanna know more! digital art apps usually works the same way, once you get the fundamentals you can draw on any app tbh
Or if you do want to start using Krita, then you can send me another ask in the future and I'll share you my tips and tricks (which are honestly pretty scuff HAHA))
Other recommendation if you want to draw on phone/tablet/ipad!
2. I know you didnt ask this, but I wanted to share my experience starting out with digital painting/using the drawing pad for the first time
the thing about digital painting is that there's a lot of features here and they serve to make the process easier, but it can be quite overwhelming when you start off! examples are layers
drawing pad also means getting used to not looking at the pad and the screen at the same time + getting used to the pen, I had a hard time with it but the more I use it, the more i got used to it :D
funnily enough, I actually gotten this drawing pad bcuz I started using lecture notes online through pdf and such xD
3. What would you recommend if I want to restart drawing?
Not really sure what you mean about restarting, but Im assuming like finding a new artstyle or trying out different art medium is it? (like from traditional pencil doodle to stylus pen) but if you mean literally restarting then uhhhh XD I guess you gotto start drawing then haha?
I think my motto when it comes to drawing is that no matter what it is, just do it
"its gonna look bad" its okay bcuz at least I drew it, yk? xD the thing with art is the more you draw, the more you're familiar with it, the less intimidating it will become(tho it can still be scary, but hey! baby steps right?)
perhaps what I would recommend is testing out all kinds of artstyle, ask yourself:
what am I going to draw? ex: I wanna do self potraits! I wanna do silly doodles of my favourite characters!
what style do I wanna do? ex: Chibi, non-chibi, landscapes
Sometimes, you won't know those answers to those questions until later on, which is exciting dont you think? one day I said "im gonna draw Ghost in full gears" then the next I decided "actually nah screw that im gonna make Ghost cute" -w-
didchu know my first few digital doodles were done on OneNote? haha yes! and on my lecture notes nonetheless pfttt (this was around october 2022)
When in doubt, always ALWAYS start small and simple. Draw a circle, draw a blob, anything! Make it manageable :D
You can, of course, challenge yourself and go big! the most important key is you're drawing for yourself :3 and you should do something you're happy with!
well, sometimes there are moments where you wont like what you draw or artblock, when it comes to those time Id recommend taking a break xD
Finding your artstyle is an ever growing journey, I would suggest looking through websites like Artstation or Pinterest and collecting artstyle that you like! then learn from it, replicate it, trace it(AS LONG AS YOU DONT CLAIM IT AS YOUR OWN AND YOU DO IT FOR PRACTICE PURPOSES!!!) and study it :3
like heck I just found a new artstyle yesterday literally HAHA so you know, enjoy the fun!
4. Other helpful links and video for starting out digital painting:
Marc Brunet, has a ton of tutorials that are useful! my fav one being this one about face drawing and cell shading
Bluebiscuits, very cute artstyle and the videos are always soothing and calming to watch! they did this video about finding your artstyle which I highly recommend! their face drawing tutorial is also really good :3
I also watch tppo occasionally, his video focuses more on how he study other people's artstyle and then implementing it on his own! If you like art studies you can give it a go, like this one!
practice, practice and practice! things like art takes a while to master and get happy with :) like i said, keep trying and dont forget, all of this is for fun!
have a good day! feel free to ask me anytime if you want if you want some clarification <3

Step 1: Assess Your Project Needs
Begin by evaluating the scope of your project and estimating the type and volume of waste you’ll generate. Different projects produce different kinds of waste, ranging from household junk to construction debris. Knowing the size and type of waste allows you to choose a dumpster that fits your needs. Dumpster rental companies in Allen often offer a variety of sizes, so discuss your requirements with the provider to avoid overpaying for a size you don’t need.
Step 2: Understand Local Guidelines
Before renting a dumpster, familiarize yourself with local regulations in Allen. Some materials may require special disposal, and certain neighborhoods may have restrictions on where a dumpster can be placed. Your rental company can often help clarify these guidelines to ensure compliance. Planning ahead will help you avoid unnecessary delays or fines during your project.
Step 3: Choose the Right Placement
Decide where the dumpster will be placed on your property. Consider factors such as accessibility for loading and the type of surface underneath. A level, stable area like a driveway is ideal for placement. Communicate with your rental company to confirm the best spot, and if necessary, obtain any permits required by local authorities.
Step 4: Schedule Your Rental Strategically
Timing is crucial when planning your project around a dumpster rental. Coordinate delivery and pickup dates to align with your project schedule. This ensures the dumpster arrives before you begin generating waste and is removed promptly when your work is completed. Most providers are flexible with scheduling but confirm the details to avoid miscommunication.
Step 5: Maximize Efficiency
To make the most of your dumpster rental, organize your waste disposal process. Start by filling the dumpster evenly, and break down bulky items to save space. Avoid overloading the dumpster, as this could lead to extra charges or logistical issues during pickup.
Step 6: Communicate with Your Team
If you’re working with a crew or family members, brief everyone on the dumpster’s use and placement. Clear communication ensures that all waste goes into the right place, reducing unnecessary cleanup at the end of your project.
Step 7: Dispose of Restricted Items Properly
Some materials, such as hazardous waste or electronics, may not be allowed in a dumpster. Make alternative arrangements for disposing of these items responsibly. Your rental company can provide a list of prohibited materials and suggestions for proper disposal methods.
By incorporating a Dumpster Rental Allen into your project plan, you’ll keep your work site organized, efficient, and safe. For more details or to find a reliable dumpster rental service in Allen, visit Trashformers Dumpsters.

How Corporate Videos Build Brand Trust and Credibility
In the fast-paced digital landscape, building trust and credibility is a cornerstone for any successful brand. Among the many tools at a company’s disposal, corporate videos have proven to be a powerful medium for engaging audiences, sharing messages, and establishing a trustworthy brand image. Unlike traditional text-based content, videos combine visual storytelling with emotional appeal, making them highly effective for connecting with customers.
Why Trust and Credibility Matter
Trust isn’t just a buzzword; it’s the foundation of a strong customer-brand relationship. Research shows that customers are more likely to purchase from brands they trust and recommend those brands to others. Credibility, on the other hand, reinforces the perception that your business delivers on its promises. Without these two factors, even the best products or services may struggle to find an audience.
Corporate videos play a pivotal role here. By showcasing your business's story, values, and expertise, they humanize your brand, fostering trust and loyalty among customers.
The Role of Corporate Videos in Building Trust
1. Showcasing Authenticity
A corporate video provides a behind-the-scenes look into your company, offering viewers a glimpse of your team, culture, and operations. This transparency can help potential customers feel more connected to your brand.
For example, a video that introduces your leadership team or highlights employee testimonials gives your business a human face, making it easier for customers to trust your brand.
2. Demonstrating Expertise
Through corporate videos, businesses can showcase their expertise in a specific field. A well-crafted explainer video or a detailed case study can highlight your knowledge, problem-solving capabilities, and success stories.
This kind of content not only informs but also reassures customers that they’re in capable hands.
3. Communicating Values and Mission
People often connect with brands that align with their personal values. Corporate videos offer the perfect platform to share your company’s mission, vision, and values. A compelling narrative about your commitment to sustainability, diversity, or innovation can resonate deeply with your audience.
How Corporate Videos Enhance Credibility
1. High-Quality Production Reflects Professionalism
A well-produced corporate video signals that your business is serious and professional. It conveys attention to detail and a commitment to quality, which naturally boosts your credibility.
Investing in professional video production ensures sharp visuals, clear audio, and engaging storytelling, all of which leave a lasting impression.
2. Building Social Proof
Customer testimonials, case studies, and success stories captured in video form are highly persuasive. Seeing real people share their positive experiences with your brand can influence potential customers and strengthen your credibility.
3. Consistency Across Platforms
Sharing corporate videos across multiple platforms—your website, social media, and email campaigns—demonstrates a unified brand message. Consistency builds familiarity, which in turn fosters trust and reliability.
Best Practices for Creating Impactful Corporate Videos
1. Start with a Clear Goal
Define the purpose of your video. Are you introducing your brand? Highlighting a product? Sharing a success story? Clear goals ensure your message resonates with the target audience.
2. Focus on Storytelling
People remember stories more than facts. Craft a narrative that aligns with your brand values while keeping it relatable and engaging.
3. Keep it Concise
Attention spans are short, so get to the point quickly. Ideally, a corporate video should be between 1 to 3 minutes long, depending on the complexity of the message.
4. Invest in Quality
While smartphones can record decent videos, professional video production ensures a polished final product. Lighting, sound, and editing all contribute to the overall impact.
5. Include a Call-to-Action (CTA)
Encourage viewers to take the next step, whether it’s visiting your website, contacting your team, or subscribing to your newsletter.
Real-World Examples of Successful Corporate Videos
A Look Inside the Company Tech companies like Google and Apple often create videos that showcase their work environment and culture. These videos highlight their innovation-driven culture, inspiring trust among customers and potential employees alike.
Customer Success Stories E-commerce platforms like Shopify frequently feature videos of successful merchants using their services. These case studies serve as powerful endorsements, reinforcing credibility.
Mission-Driven Narratives Brands like Patagonia produce videos that focus on their sustainability efforts. These videos align with their target audience’s values, building a loyal customer base.
Why Corporate Videos Are Essential for Your Business
Incorporating corporate videos into your marketing strategy is no longer optional—it’s a necessity. They engage audiences more effectively than any other medium, and when done right, they can significantly enhance your brand’s trust and credibility.
While creating a professional video may seem like an investment, the returns in terms of customer loyalty, brand recognition, and increased conversions make it worthwhile.
Final Thoughts
Building trust and credibility takes time, but corporate videos can fast-track the process by delivering your brand’s message in an authentic, relatable, and visually compelling way. Whether it’s through customer testimonials, behind-the-scenes glimpses, or mission-driven storytelling, a well-crafted corporate video has the power to transform how your audience perceives your brand.
For businesses looking to stand out in a competitive market, investing in corporate videos isn’t just a smart move—it’s an essential one.

The Shadowed Forest of Blackmoor
Second Story of Aeryn.
In the shadowed heart of Aeldoria lay the ancient Blackmoor Forest, a dark, twisted expanse rumored to be cursed, haunted by spirits, and riddled with creatures that thrived in its eternal gloom. Few dared to enter, and fewer still ever returned. But for Aeryn, witch-warrior of Valtoria, it was another trial she could not turn from.
Chapter 1: The Summons
Aeryn had just returned to Valtoria, her body still bearing the aches of her last battle against the Skorn pirates, when the village elder Vorel summoned her. His face was graver than she had ever seen, his gaze shadowed with worry.
“Aeryn,” he began, “something sinister has come to Blackmoor Forest. Our hunters are disappearing, and strange creatures have been seen on the outskirts. We fear… it may be the work of the Morrigar.”
Aeryn’s eyes narrowed. The Morrigar were an ancient, elusive race of dark fae, powerful beings who had long been banished from Aeldoria. If they had returned, it would spell disaster.
“I will go,” she replied, gripping Stormcaller at her side. She felt the familiar hum of its magic, sensing her readiness.
But Vorel reached out, his hand trembling slightly. “Be careful, Aeryn. Blackmoor is unlike any place you’ve faced. The Morrigar’s magic is strange, twisted. It will take more than strength to survive.”
With a nod, she set off toward the looming shadows of Blackmoor, her heart steeled for whatever lay ahead.
Chapter 2: Into the Forest
The edge of Blackmoor was thick with mist, clinging to the ground like ghostly tendrils. The trees were gnarled, their twisted branches forming strange patterns, casting eerie shadows in the fading light. The air was thick with an unnatural silence, broken only by the occasional distant rustle or the mournful call of an unseen creature.
Aeryn moved cautiously, every sense alert. She whispered a small spell, a charm for sight and sound, heightening her perception in the dark. Stormcaller pulsed at her side, ready.
As she ventured deeper, the shadows seemed to move, shapes flitting just beyond her vision. She felt a prickling at the back of her neck, a sense of being watched. Her hand tightened on her sword.
Then, out of the mist, a figure emerged—a young woman, pale and beautiful, her hair flowing like silver down her back. But her eyes were black as night, void of any warmth. A Morrigar.
“Witch of Valtoria,” she intoned, her voice like the whisper of dead leaves, “you have trespassed into our realm.”
Aeryn met her gaze without fear. “Your kind was banished from Aeldoria. You have no claim here.”
The Morrigar smiled, a cold, eerie expression. “The forest remembers us, as it will soon remember you. But we are not here to kill you… not yet.”
Before Aeryn could react, the Morrigar lifted a hand, and dark tendrils of magic lashed out, snaring her wrists and ankles, pulling her to the ground. Shadows closed in around her, smothering her vision. The Morrigar’s face was the last thing she saw before darkness claimed her.
Chapter 3: The Labyrinth of Shadows
Aeryn awoke in a strange, twisted landscape—a forest, but not Blackmoor as she had known it. Here, the trees were skeletal, their branches reaching like claws, and the ground was a pale, ashen gray. A heavy sense of dread hung in the air.
She rose, feeling for her sword. Stormcaller was still at her side, but its magic was faint, as if it, too, was stifled in this dark realm.
“Welcome to the Veil,” a voice echoed, hollow and cold. Aeryn spun to find herself face-to-face with another Morrigar, cloaked in shadows, his form twisting like rolling smoke.
“They brought you here for your power,” he said, circling her slowly. “The Veil is a place between worlds, where few mortals tread. If you survive, perhaps you may even find the way out.”
Aeryn gripped her sword, narrowing her eyes. “I’ve faced worse than your parlor tricks.”
The Morrigar chuckled, a sound that grated against her senses. “We shall see, warrior.”
With a gesture, he disappeared, leaving her alone in the twisted forest. Shadows flickered around her, and she knew she was not truly alone.
Taking a deep breath, Aeryn whispered a spell for strength, her voice steady despite the unease gnawing at her. She ventured forward, each step echoing in the eerie silence.
Chapter 4: The Trials of the Veil
The Veil was a maze, filled with illusions and traps that seemed designed to test her spirit as much as her strength. She faced twisted creatures, shadows made of despair and fear, each one lashing out with claws that slashed at her flesh and illusions that tore at her mind.
But Aeryn was relentless. She fought with her blade and her magic, calling down lightning in brief, controlled bursts that kept the creatures at bay. Each encounter drained her strength, but she pressed on, refusing to yield.
At last, she came to a clearing where a great stone altar stood, and upon it lay an ancient, dark tome bound in iron. Runes glowed faintly along its cover, and Aeryn felt a pulse of raw, dark power emanating from it.
“The Book of Shadows,” she murmured. This was a relic of the Morrigar, an artifact of immense power. She knew that to claim it would mean taking a great risk, but it was also her only chance to escape the Veil.
As she reached for the book, shadows coalesced around her, forming the figure of the Morrigar leader, his face hidden beneath a hood.
“Do you seek to wield our power, witch of Valtoria?” he asked, his voice a blend of scorn and intrigue.
“I seek only to rid Aeldoria of your kind,” she replied, her hand tightening on the book. The words on the cover shifted, revealing a spell—a banishing incantation.
But there was a cost.
“Use the spell, and you will be bound to it,” the Morrigar warned. “Our power will become part of you… if you survive.”
Aeryn closed her eyes, centering herself. She knew that the path of a warrior-witch was one of sacrifice. She opened the book, chanting the incantation. Darkness poured from its pages, wrapping around her like tendrils of smoke, filling her with a power both alien and terrible.
The shadows clawed at her mind, but she held firm, focusing on the magic, bending it to her will. Her body burned with the intensity of it, but at last, the spell was complete. With a final surge of energy, she thrust her will outward, and the Morrigar leader screamed, his form dissolving into mist.
Chapter 5: Return to Aeldoria
The forest of Blackmoor shifted around her, the twisted trees straightening, the mist lifting as Aeryn returned to the mortal realm. She fell to her knees, the weight of the spell still heavy in her veins.
But she had survived. And she had won.
As she rose, the villagers emerged from their hiding places, cheering her victory. But Aeryn’s mind was heavy with the knowledge of what she had taken from the Morrigar—the power of the Veil now ran within her, binding her to a darker, more dangerous magic than she had ever known.
Yet, she would wield it. For she was Aeryn, the storm witch, the blade that would carve a path through darkness, for as long as her strength held.
As the sun set, she turned her gaze once more toward the horizon, knowing that her path would lead her back into the unknown. For in Aeldoria, the world of steel and sorcery, her legend was only beginning.
