Current examples from the Lawman Whump List I'm working on are....

Johnny pretending that his head still hurts from an injury earlier in the episode to get the drunk doctor out of the saloon. The doctor very drunkly checks him over before figuring out Johnny was lying. (1x27)

Johnny getting a coffee cup knocked out of his hand and Troop immediately comes over to see if he's alright, grabbing his arm and checking it over. (1x37)

Episode 37 barreling full steam ahead towards the end of the season. Tushan Jing? Grey haired and trapped forever in Gothic Hellhouse without even the dubious comfort of filial piety to his grandmother to keep him going just 1 good servant 1 evil brother 1 evil wife and 1 wrinkly baby/secret nephew. Cang Xuan is married to a random political ally and is definitely being perfectly normal abt it. Xiang Liu’s multitude of issues once again on display as his caprice, his cruelty, his desperation, and his ardor are all on display. Fenglong is mostly just annoyed that Tushan Jing won’t just disregard Xiaoyao’s blatant wishes and Xinyue won’t just accept her own decision to not marry Cang Xuan. And Xiaoyao, disappointed at every turn, is tired. Very very tired.

pokemon anime 1x37 "the battling eevee brothers"

boy is everybody gonna be surprised when it evolves into an espeon, sylveon, or umbreon.

what up gay nerds! so, yeah, this episode is pretty straightforward and is just all about introducing viewers to the best pokemon ever, eevee! seriously, i've said it before & i'll say it again, while the gengar line might be my favorite, eevee is just objectively the best pokemon and should be the mascot of the franchise instead of pikachu imo. so, yeah, even though it's a pretty basic episode, obviously i'm gonna enjoy an episode that's just all about how cool eevee & the eevolutions are.

also i love these stupid dorks and their outfits/hair themed to match their chosen eevolutions:

fucking dumbasses, i love it.

speaking of dumb stuff, i also love how the pokemon anime was convinced that every single episode needed a new location that was very specifically tied to whatever the episode was about, so this takes place in "stone town" which is at the foot of "evolution mountain." gg, pokemon anime. never change.

anyway, yeah! always an episode i look forward to even though not much happens in it.
