dance class // osaki shotaro
ᝰ synopsis .ᐟ getting into a dance class again wasn’t something on your bingo card of the year. neither did you expect the random dance class you signed up for in a japanese dance academy, while on your trip to japan, to be a couple dance class. but it wasn’t as bad as you thought, you got to know osaki shotaro. (plus lots of denial.)
ᝰ pairing .ᐟ dancer!shotaro x fem!reader
ᝰ genre .ᐟ suggestive // written
ᝰ word count .ᐟ 2.6k+
ᝰ warning .ᐟ mentions of boners, grinding, praise kink, kissing, and sex
ᝰ author's note .ᐟ happy birthday to my sho-kun!! liked him since he turned 20 and my man is now 24😭😭 i watched an old shotaro-focused fancam i had in my gallery and missed seeing him dancing so idea got churned out from the brain factory T^T totally not inspired by the fact that he was once a student under expg studio and that one pre-debut couple dance stage,,,
the last time you went to a dance class was in middle school, during your school break. ever since you quit from the school dance club, you just never went back to dancing. it wasn’t that you fell out of love with dance, you just had other things you were more interested in learning, like playing musical instruments, and art in the form of drawings and paintings.
you still took up dance opportunities in school, like when your middle school teacher asked you and your schoolmates to come up with a k-pop dance cover piece for your school exchange trip to a korean middle school – though that never happened due to rising politics that prevented the whole trip from proceeding. but here you were, in japan, signing up for a dance class at the top japanese dance academy recommended by your friend.
the academy was a well-known dance academy that produced a lot of japanese idols – or so you were told by your friend. you didn’t know much about japanese idols, as you only remembered the past where you were introduced to some of them by a classmate who loved j-pop. the introduction left a distasteful feeling for you as it seemed like they had mediocre dances and relied severely on looks to sell, which you didn’t appreciate as a dance lover. at least k-pop had impactful and fresh choreographies, along with the looks. you preferred k-pop dances, remembering your days taking dance classes at 1MILLION years ago, even attending some classes with k-pop idols like A.C.E and The Boyz before they became famous.
impulsively going to a dance class in japan was an opportunity to learn more about the japanese dance scene but you didn't realise the problem you had until you were signing the registration form. you couldn’t read japanese. understanding conversational japanese was one thing, but trying to figure out hiragana, katakana and kanji all at once was a brain overload for you. you even forgot the existence of translation apps. that’s how you ended up in a couple’s dance class. you couldn’t read japanese well, and accidentally signed up for the wrong class. you just saw ‘プ’, read as ‘pu’ in japanese, and assumed it was ‘hip-hop’. you didn’t even fathom for it to mean couple instead of hip-hop.
it’s just a dance class anyways, not a big deal.
entering the dance class 30 minutes before it started, you had concerns whether you were going to have someone to partner with after belatedly realising your class was one to be danced in pairs. everyone seemed to be stretching in pairs while you were the only one alone. you couldn’t find anyone that you could pair up with, even as the dance class started.
“anyone doesn’t have a pair?” your dance instructors, who introduced themselves as nakamura and nana, asked in japanese.
good thing i took conversational japanese classes in high school and watched anime.
you were halfway raising your hand, when a guy with really cool fashion, carrying a huge bag strutted into the dance room like he was on a runway. what does he even have in his bag that it’s so huge?
“oh, shotaro-kun! everyone else is already paired up, so you’re pairing up with miss black shorts over there,” nana sensei told shotaro, the cool-fashioned guy, as he nodded and headed towards you after chucking his bag to one of the bag areas.
“osaki shotaro,” he introduced himself, holding out a hand for a handshake.
“i’m y/n,” you took his hand in yours, which felt warm against your cold hands.
“y/n. pretty name for a pretty girl. cold hands though.”
of course your hands were cold, you’d been sitting in an air-conditioned building for forty five minutes. shotaro sat down next to you, with your hands still held together, before he let go completely to sit comfortably. nakamura sensei and nana sensei were asking the front of the class to make some space, as they were about to give a demonstration of the class' choreography.
“i’ve never seen you before, new here?” shotaro initiated small talk while the dance instructors were preparing the music.
“yeah. i’m actually here in japan on holiday so i’m just here for this class. haven’t gone to a dance class in seven years, though.”
“nice, i’m a regular at this academy,” you nodded, not really interested to know despite oversharing yourself, because you came to dance, not to flirt.
yeah, right.. joining a couple’s dance class, alone? paired up with a stranger? with that dance choreography?
you were gobsmacked. flabbergasted, even. the dance routine that nakamura sensei and nana sensei just showed to the class was very sensual, sexual and touchy. and i’m about to do that with a complete stranger? you knew that dance was an art form, which meant that sometimes, being intimate was unavoidable. but that didn’t mean you were comfortable with it. simply put, you were someone described as more ‘conservative’. even in relationships, you were one to prefer getting to know the other party better for a few months before proceeding to other steps like kissing and having sex. maybe that was why you had few relationships – and most of them, a fail.
“relax, y/n, i won’t eat you up,” shotaro smiled sweetly, snapping you out of your trance.
“come on! get up, let’s learn the dance.”
the first part of learning the dance routine went smoothly without any mishaps. you knew it was because there wasn't any crazily intimate dance steps unlike the second part of the routine, where the skinship started. the first move of the next dance step required you to go behind shotaro and slide your hands from his chest to right around his belly button.
“go ahead, it’s fine.”
shotaro assured you that you could touch him, showing the sweet smile he gave you before the both of you started dancing. he could tell you weren’t exactly comfortable with touching complete strangers. he was an experienced dancer who could tell the intimacy levels his dance partners were comfortable with, and you were especially obvious with how much you didn’t like touching strangers. since the handshake with you earlier, he felt the way you very obviously wanted to let go while he was holding your hands tight as he sat down, without thinking much of the interaction. you had to admit however, that shotaro had a good body. he was lean but bulked, and his hard rock abs were reminiscent of the olden day washboard.
the next dance step required you to stand in front of him, facing away from the mirror and dropping down to the floor with your hands sliding down to his hipline before getting up. he had a sexy smile on his face, and you were unable to tell if he was flirting or doing facial expressions to match the dance. somehow, you ended up face-to-face with a bulge in shotaro’s grey sweatpants. he had a boner.
“sorry about nature’s work. you know, sexual dances and hormones,” he apologised as you got up to do the next dance move, following nana sensei.
the both of you were doomed. the third part of the dance involved grinding. how were you, a ‘conservative’ girl who didn't like skinship, supposed to do that, with a guy who was currently having a boner in his pants?
“this grinding means nothing. i know you have a boner but we’re being professional here,” shotaro nodded, completely understanding.
shotaro had no idea why he was acting the way he was. normally, he’d be perfectly fine dancing with the opposite gender. he’d even dance a sexier couple’s choreography than nakamura sensei and nana sensei’s current routine. so why was he acting like a complete teenager, at his big age of twenty four years old? he knew he was asking a dumb question. you were his type. you were pretty, had long hair that went below your shoulders, and his favourite of all, you were significantly shorter than him. he had a thing for his significant other being shorter, and you were 160cm, the perfect height for a man like him.
“baby, you’re so good for seven years, no class.”
baby?! what is this guy on about? can’t blame him though, i am kinda hot.
you just rolled your eyes as you brushed off his comment and continued learning the dance from the dance instructors. if shotaro could read your thoughts, he’d probably have completely fallen for you. he loved when a girl was confident about herself. but he’d never say that with his own mouth for your confident ass to hear. except maybe, if he was in bed with you.
“alright, that’s the whole routine, let’s go through the last part once more, and then we’ll do it from the start,” nakamura sensei voiced to the whole class.
“we’ll pick the top five couples to film a dance video, alright? do your best,” nana sensei added on.
although you hadn’t taken dance classes in years, you were an achiever. whether it was your school grades, a game in an arcade, or even a stupid dare, you wanted to be the best. you liked being the best, and loved when people praised or congratulated you for your hard work to get where you wanted to be. or maybe i just have a praise kink.
“take this seriously, osaki,” you called out to your dance partner who was wearing a tight fitting black shirt and grey sweatpants.
“oh? no honorifics from you, y/n? sexy,” he teased you knowing you were going to be annoyed, just like how you rolled your eyes earlier when he called you baby.
the both of you met around two and a half hours ago, but shotaro had you all figured out.
the music played from the top, “one, and two, and three, and four, and,” nakamura sensei signalled the counts for the class to start dancing the whole choreography.
shotaro was dancing well, having the perfect expressions and hitting all the right angles. you, on the other hand, flexibly matched well to his energy, dancing as if it wasn’t the first time you met. you took quick glances at the instructors, seeing an impressed face on nana sensei’s face. nakamura sensei was throwing out compliments to all the pairs in the class, but he went silent at your pair, with only a “woah” coming out his mouth. you knew you were going to be one of the chosen five. you were great, and so was osaki shotaro, the man you were dancing with.
“... and the last pair is shotaro and his girl!” nakamura sensei announced to the class.
you jumped in joy and unknowingly hugged shotaro tightly. you loved winning. so much as you didn’t realise nakamura sensei had called you shotaro’s girl. you didn’t even realise he did that on purpose, because he saw how much differently shotaro acted than usual. nakamura sensei knew shotaro well, being his regular student – and his wife, nana sensei’s cousin. originally osaki nana, now nakamura nana. but you didn’t have to know that.
“so, you agree with nakamura sensei that you’re my girl?” he was truly an annoyance, but a cute, sexy one.
you realised what you were doing with him and let go, apologising with the excuse that you were just caught up in the moment. you didn’t realise how much more comfortable you got with him, within the span of two and a half hours. the intimate choreography helped shotaro get closer to you.
after the fourth pair finished recording their dance, you and shotaro both got up. it was your pair performing next. you had to do well. the video was going to be on the dance academy’s youtube channel, according to what shotaro told you. it had to be good. shotaro took your hand in his, pulling you along to the center of the practice room. with the same hand, he somewhat patted the back of your hand that he was holding, as if to reassure you that all would be fine and to just trust him when dancing. the whole time, you had unknowingly not even pulled away or rejected his hand.
unlike the other pairs, the room was completely silent when the two of you performed. everyone in the room felt the sexual tension between you and shotaro. they felt the true sexiness of the choreography, and that it was somewhat similar with nakamura sensei and nana sensei’s demonstration hours earlier.
it was like you two were actual lovers, hungry and lusting for each other. it didn’t help that your pair was wearing matching outfits — your fitting grey crop top and black shorts, contrasting shotaro’s fitting black shirt and grey sweatpants — that made the both of you look more like an actual couple. the looks shotaro was giving you as the both of you performed — sexy with his clicking of the tongue, lustful with his tongue teasing, eyes not leaving your ass every time you were in front of him — was making you ever more confident with your moves.
the last move was resemblant of a couple kissing, as the male – in this case, shotaro, looks to the audience like a predator who caught his prey. but you, being too into the choreography, had kissed him on the lips. this was not like you at all. shotaro, on the contrary, remained professional even as you kissed him, giving a fierce stare towards the camera as what k-pop idols would call ‘ending fairy’. everyone erupted in applause while having their mouth agape. the performance you and shotaro did left everyone breathless.
“and.. cut!” nakamura sensei called out when their cameraman who came in before the recording signalled him.
“oh shit,” you pulled back, realising you kissed shotaro.
what did i just do?! who is this?! this isn’t the y/n that i know?
“it’s okay baby, you did well.”
his compliment made you smile. shotaro was getting too comfortable calling you baby for someone he just met three hours ago. you didn’t do anything about it either, seemingly as if you were fine with the pet name. maybe you did fall in love with him within a three hour class. he dragged you along with him by your waist, his arm sitting comfortably on your behind, to sit back down for the class debrief.
nakamura sensei and nana sensei gave a speech of thanks to everyone for attending the lesson and giving it their all for a successful session, before dismissing the class. he was about to talk to you, when nakamura sensei called him to discuss about something that you couldn’t understand the meaning of. (he was trying to get shotaro's opinions on a surprise date planned for nana sensei. rightfully so, since shotaro grew up with nana sensei – the one who got him into dancing.)
finishing the talk with nakamura sensei, he ignored his big bag and walked directly towards you instead. you were taking your own sweet time to pack your bags before leaving the dance room. not because you were secretly waiting for him, or curious about what he was going to ask before being interrupted, you convinced yourself. you were exhausted after the intense dance class.
“baby, can i have your instagram?”
he knew not to cross boundaries too fast (even though you crossed it first by kissing him earlier), and just asked for your instagram username. thank god, because it would have been dumb of him to ask for your LINE account, knowing you weren’t even living in japan, which means you likely didn’t even use LINE.
“i’ll send you a message, baby”
little did you know, you were soon going to gain a long-distance boyfriend – one that you were going to meet every night after his dance classes for the rest of your japan trip. you didn't know what was it about shotaro, that made you do things you would have never done otherwise. but what the both of you planned to do after your japan trip, was a problem for the future you and the man called osaki shotaro.
i mean, i already kissed him! whether i brought him back to the hotel for something more or not.. wouldn’t be such an issue, would it?
✶⋆.˚꩜ AFTERTHOUGHTS .ᐟ˙⋆✶ writing this for like three hours in and out while listening to a whole bunch of local songs (i think? i don’t even know most local artists) with the simp and longing theme was crazy… i did not know i had it in me to do this?? took me forever to proofread though, hope you enjoyed! likes and reblogs are appreciated :)

#YEBIN YEBIN is the eighth trainee to be revealed on dreamquest! Yebin, born in Seoul, South Korea, isn't new to the industry or survival shows. Before her trainee days, Yebin was a classically trained ballerina, saying it was what made her fell in love with dance in the first place. She was supposed to become a professional before she was scouted by Source Music and gave it up to be a full time trainee after being scouted while practicing a routine at 1MILLION Dance Studio. She was a popular dancer at the studio as well as a popular dancer influencer. Beginning her training in 2018 with the promise of debuting that year, Yebin would become one of the older trainees at the company. Though, her original debut plans fell through, she was sent to compete on Produce 48 where she would be deemed "the next Chungha" due to her visuals and powerful dance skills. After her rank fluxuated thoughout the season, she ended up ranking 12th and making it into the final lineup that would be IZ*ONE. Her run in IZ*ONE would be great but it was after IZ*ONE where things would fall apart. After a two year lull in her career where she did nothing, in 2023 Yebin would be dropped from Source Music and left with virtually nothing. Now, after a year long break of healing, Yebin auditioned for Dreamquest to restart her career and show no matter your age you can still persue your dreams.

Bada Lee - You Are Not Alone.
Warnings!: Angst, Fluff, Self-harm, FemReader!, Abuse (both mentally and physically.) also reader is a member of jam republic.
part 1 - part 2
We all were invited to be on Street Woman Fighter and so we all are here now. recording will be starting soon for the first episode, so we all are arriving and getting into our outfits for the show, I wore a sleeveless crop top with baggy cargo pants, but I put on a baggy zip-up hoodie to cover me. We all went out to sit in our seats and what I seen across from our seats was team bebe! I low-key was so fucking excited and Kristen knew that, and elbow bumped me gently. "Calm down Y/n you'll get to meet her soon, I'm sure." I nodded. "I know it's just I've been her biggest fan for a while now and I love her so much." Kristen giggles at my excitement but turns to the Kang Daniel who is the host of this show. He welcomed everyone and we listened to him explain the rules and then it started. the first one to go was Redy of 1million she chooses Bada as the no respect dancer and not going to lie Bada was hot while she danced along, and she totally wiped the floor with her. It was next Kristen against Waackxxxy and then it came to me to pick someone. I held the mic up to my mouth. "I choose Bada Lee of BEBE." She smirked and got up and I obviously was excited for her to be my opponent. I held the mic up to my mouth. "Bada, I hope you're ready because I'm going to show you who is boss." She smirked and so did I. I passed her the mic and she raised it up to her mouth. "Y/n-ah I hope you're ready because I am the boss." I blushed but hid it as best I could and got started. I went first and my song was goodies by Ciara, and I shook my ass and grinded against the floor I even got up on Bada and rubbed into her a little she smirked and pulled her hat down more so you couldn't see her face, but I noticed. I finished and now it was her turn. Her song was Smack that by Akon ft, Eminem. I watched her roll her hips and move so slick and relaxed at the same time to it and she got up on me too like I did her everyone started hooting and hollering she got close enough to kiss my lips but stopped and it was the end of her turn. The judges didn't know who to pick but finally turned their cards around and two said Bebe and only one said jam republic. I hugged her and told her she did great but she pulled me close and whispered in my ear. "Meet me after this is over I want to take you out on a date for that." I nodded and she winked and smirked at me. I walked back over to my team as she did hers. This episode was over and she came over to me and gave me her number and I gave her mine and we went back to our places I have a house her in Korea and in the states. Neither of which I am at really ever because I'm always in the dance studio or doing choreographies for famous artists I'm never home which suck because I want a cat but the last one I had I couldn't take care of and had to give him up. :( anyways I showered then did some light makeup and did my hair into a ponytail and wore a lighter blue dress that hugged my slim yet fit body and I put on some converses. I heard the door bell ring and knew it had to be her. I opened the door and there she was tall and sexy as ever. I smiled at her and she returned the smile. I seen she wore a lighter blue button up and paired it with black pants and some Nike's her hair also in a ponytail but lower instead of up high like mine. She held her arm out for me and I obviously didn't reject the offer. We walked to the car and she opened my door for me and closed it once she made sure I was seated and walked around to the driver side. She started up the car and then turned on the radio. At first the ride started quiet but. "You look beautiful Y/n." I blushed but not too hard. "You look beautiful too Bada." She giggled. "You can change the radio if you want." I nodded and changed started cycling through the stations. I gasped when I hear angel baby was about to come on. [singing: I need a lover to keep me sane, pull me from hell bring me back again, play me the classics something romantic give him my all but I don't even have it.] She smiled at me and I returned the smile.
We reached the restaurant and got seated. I picked what I wanted and since we are at a Korean restaurant, I picked my favorite Korean dish. (Japchae) While we waited for food to come, we started talking. "So, Y/n what is new in your life?" I sighed. "Nothing much mostly stressful stuff." She furrowed her brows but didn't pressure me into talking anymore about it. I broke the ice again by continuing the convo. "So, what's new with you Bada?" She liked that I asked about her life. "Lots of stuff I keep working with idols for their choreography, also the show is making me stressed because I don't want my team to lose or yours but I know only one can win." She sighed at the end. "I understand same here but I won't be upset if your team wins because you guys deserve the win." "You guys do too though." I grabbed her hand and gently caressed it. "Well no matter what we'll always be there or each other." She smiled at this but pulled away cause food arrived. I drooled but started munching on this shit hard as fuck. She giggled. "I'm glad you like it beautiful." I blushed realizing I didn't tell her thanks. "Thanks Bada it is yummy." I continued eating and she did too. Soon we were done and left se drove me back to my place with her hand resting on my thigh. We get to my place and I offered for her to come in. "No I can't got to get ready for tomorrows recording of the next episode so I need more sleep. and to gather some small things to bring with me." I nodded and went to tell her goodbye but then...she kissed me. she pulled away and smiled proudly at me. "I had such a good time with you Y/n-ah." She rubbed the top of my head. "T-thanks I had a good time with you as well Unnie." I waved and she did too then she got in her car and drove off. I slammed my door behind me and slid to the floor. My phone rang and scared the shit out of me. I looked to see who called it's my parents. I answered it because I didn't know if I should or shouldn't. "Hello Y/n. This is your mother who you never seem call to check on I was wondering how your not so successful career doing for you?" I rolled my eyes and scoffed. "It's going great mother not that you would know because god forbid you actually watch me dance." I swear I could hear her smirk. "I don't think your doing something worth a fuck for a career Y/n. You are making not enough for you to live on." 'The fuck does she know I make plenty but of course she could give two shits less.' "Well mother I hate to break it to you but I'm happy and make enough to live and at least I'm happy with my career." She scoffed. "That reminds me you need to come visit for the Weekend." I rolled my eyes. "I will and I'm bringing some friends because they support me unlike someone." She laughed. "Sure, they do dear." "They do mother not everyone thinks dancing isn't a career." She hung up on me which had me fuming but I went on to bed because it was getting late. I looked at my phone and messaged Kristen and Audrey to see if they wanted to come with me to my family home for the Weekend which they both said yes. Then I messaged Bada to see if she wanted to come since I could really use her comfort through out this whole trip.
(My Angel is y/n nickname in her chat and Bada's is My Sexy Fox.)
My Angel: So hey Bada?
My Sexy Fox: Yes beautiful?
My Angel: How would you feel about coming with me, Kristen and Audrey to my family home for the weekend?
My Sexy Fox: Why not just me? :(
My Angel: Because I need all the people I trust during this trip. PLus they'll be in the guest room so you'll have me all to yourself. ;)
My Sexy Fox: Yes! Okay I'll come too. Where do we need to meet?
My Angel: At my house It's only a couple hour drive.
My Sexy Fox: Okay I'll be there.
I went to bed smiling so hard and touching my lips because I can't stop thinking about her lips on mine.

Platonic!SWF 2 x VA!Reader
Part 1
Next |
Word count: 1k
Warnings: I don't know how the real world works apparently
Notes: I finally gave into my temptations and made one despite the fact that I have zero experience writing for real people. Lemme know how it goes.
I'll be honest, it's mostly gonna be JR, Bebe and Tsubakill, with half Mannequeen/1Million and not so much of LadyBounce, Wolf'Lo and Deep n' Dap.
Ling looked up from her phone. "Hey, Kristen. You said we wanted another person right?"
Kristen looked at her in confusion. It was about a week before they had to send in their member count and while she satisfied the team requirements with five, it couldn't hurt to have an extra person for safety.
"Uhm.Yeah. Why? Do you have someone?"
Ling went back to staring at her phone and scrolling through something. "Yeah. Just a sec. Any minute now."
Whatever it was that Ling was waiting for drew the rest of the people in the studio in. Audrey and Emma briefly stopped their playful banter about a tik tok dance to look at their oldest member. Latrice took out an earbud from where she was working on a choreograph. Kristen walked over to where Ling was and peered at her screen. She was staring at the Jam Republic 'Meet Our Artists' page. Over and over again, each time, reloading the page.
She eventually scrolled to the name she was looking for. [Name]. Upon further clicking of the profile the name to pop up was '[Name] Zhang'. Below that was a description of her accomplishments in dance.
"Yes!" Ling nearly shouted, pumping her fist. "Guys, meet my sister, the potential 6th member of the Street Woman Fighter 2's Jam Republic team."
She turned her phone to face her other team members. They all came to crowd around her to look at her phone. "Wah! She looks so young!" Audrey, the youngest in the group, looked quite interested in a potential younger member.
"She is. She's 19 and just transferred to a Cal State from Community college in Cali." Ling looked at her sister's picture. "She's working towards a major in theatrics and the best part is... She's a voice actor."
Emma looked a bit perplexed. "If she's a voice actor, how is she in Jam Republic?"
Ling only smirked. "She is a choreographer and a voice actor."
Kristen smiled at the older girl. "Well, can we see a video of her dancing? I don't want to exactly say now but I want to see her skill level first."
Latrice butt in. "Wait—. Does she go by any pseudonym or something like that?"
That brought everyone's attention back to Ling. "Uh. Yeah. I think she goes by Sino in the show biz. Like she uses [Nsme] Zhang as her dance name and everything else uses Sino."
Latrice looked excited. "You mean the Sino who choreographed some of the Descendants 3 dances at 15? The one who helped with the live action Mulan fight scenes?"
Everyone was taken aback by Latrice's excitement as well as the supposed new information. "Let me ask."
Ling opened her phone contacts and clicked on a contact named 'the talented 🎤'.
"Yup. According to her, that's it." Ling looked up from her phone.
Audrey looked at Ling. "You must be so proud of her to do that at such a young age."
Ling smiled at their current youngest member. "I am."
Everyone could hear the pride in Ling's voice. Her eyes lit up again before she opened YouTube on her phone and showed them a short of what seemed to be [Name] dancing a choreography to 'Boyfriend' by Dove Cameron. It was quite the sexy song and somehow it fit [Name] very well. Her moves were very flowy but held a lot of energy. Her sultry expressions worked well, making her seem older than she actually was. [Name] finished in a floor pose before she got up, giggling a bit and the video cut.
Everyone collectively awed at the adorableness that was displayed at the end of the video. “Yeah. I’ll add her if she wants. Do we need to get her a plane ticket as well?”
“No need. She’s at the University of Seoul as a student exchange student for the semester. Going there for theatrics, dance and, surprisingly, foods." Ling looked at her phone again.
It rang and she picked up. The screen showed [Name], seemingly in bed. "Hey, Ling Ling. What's up?"
[Name]'s voice was soft, but rough. She was supported by a red covered pillow, her hair was thrown in a messy bun that rested on her head and her phone seemed to be propped against the head end of the bed frame. Her sleepy, half-lidded eyes were framed by round black glasses. "Hi [Name]. I'm with the girls here."
Ling panned the camera, each member waving at the screen.
"Hi."
"Hello."
"Hey."
"Hiii!"
"Hello to Kristen, Latrice, Emma and Audrey, I believe." [Name] looked up, trying to remember each member's name by face. When she got confirmation that she was right, she smiled a soft smile. It took a lot for everyone to not 'aww' at her cuteness.
"So, is there a reason you are calling me…" She seemed to look slightly to the upper left corner of her phone. "... at 06:15 in the morning? Like I can understand a text but a call?"
The girls exchanged glances and a chuckle. "Uh yeah. That would be my fault." Kristen said.
[Name] raised her eyebrow, "Mmm. And why is that?"
"Well I was wondering if you would like to be a part of our group for Street Woman Fighter 2. While 5 people is enough, it would make me feel better if we had another, you know?" Kristen looked a bit shy as she spoke.
[Name] pushed the bridge of her glasses up her nose as her face contorted into a contemplating look. "On what days? I have three classes on Saturday and that's it."
Due to [Name] being an exchange student, she didn’t need to take the necessary classes that most Korean students must take and it just so happened that her classes/lectures were all on the same day. Theatrics first thing in the morning at 08:00 and would span out for 2 hours. Food started at 13:00 and again ended two hours later. Dance would not begin until 18:00 and go till 20:00. (I must preface this by saying that I have never been in an exchange program before so not all of this is accurate. And yes, I use military time, if I have to do math for the ‘normie’ people, then you can do math for me.)
“Mhm… We don’t know yet actually. We can just catch you up on things when you’re not here.” Ling propped her phone on the studio mirror and sat back.
[Name] rubbed her eyes behind her glasses before pushing up the frame. “Yeah, sure.” She yawned.”My apartment building was rented out for people so i can only assume that would be for the competition. So tell them not to worry about the room placement for me.”
She scrubbed her hand over her face, brought her book in front of her before looking at the camera. “All right, If that’s all, I’mma get back to reading.”
“Nah. All good here, sis, thanks. Love you.” Ling picked up the phone as everyone waved behind her.
She ended the call, smiling at her two worlds meeting.

1MILLION! Shin Soobin, aka Redy x BEBE! F Reader: Falling in love can be the most beautiful feeling, but what comes after can be a challenging journey. Were you ready to take the risk of opening your heart once more to the woman who had once shattered it?
Word Count: 2.6k
Note: ITS LATE BUT OH WELL. a tiny bit angstyyyy... just a tad bit. also first redy fic wooooo🥳.
Character Vision Board
Participating in Street Woman Fighter 2 represented one of the highest points in your dancing journey. Nevertheless, the path to get here was filled with hardships. As you were seated on Team Bebe's bench, her persistent presence served as a vivid reminder of the difficulties you had faced. Redy Shin, or Soobin as you known her through the years, was an insolent seed planted in your brain, but you could never hate her.
Because how could you hate the woman you fell in love with?
People do say your first love is like a drug, and when it's over, it leaves you in withdrawal. That’s basically what you went through over the last 8 years of your life. It all began in 2015 with the CUPCAKES. The newly formed crew consisted of multiple talented dancers.
Back then, the crew only had around 6 members, but when it started to perform, it gained much attraction. Especially the “Towering Trio,” Vata, Bada, and Y/n, which helped people to take an interest in the CUPCAKES. Your team called you Selene, or Sel, that was your middle name, being named after the goddess of the moon.
At the beginning of 2016, the team grew as more members joined. The most notable ones were Lee Minho and Shin Soobin. When meeting the girl, your 18-year-old self fell in love. Her aura and energy felt unmatchable, with her cute face masking the fierceness of her dancing.
"Selene-nim! I'm Shin Soobin, nice to meet you!" Those were her first words as she greeted you with an enthusiastic smile.
Deep down, Redy had been a devoted fan, particularly of you and Bada, so seeing you in person enchanted her. You stood tall, at 6 feet, and had silky long brunette hair that streamed down to your upper waist with a hat that shadowed over your large brown doe eyes.
The start of the friendship was amazing, dare you say, one of the best parts of your life. When you weren’t in the dance studio with Redy, you guys were hanging out anytime you were free. The moments like shopping, going to get ice cream, doing challenges that trended, and even just dancing together had you feeling like you were the queen of the world.
In 2016, you began courting Redy and succeeded in winning her heart, so by the time CUPCAKES disbanded, you finally asked her to be your girlfriend. Everything was going splendidly, with both of you in a state of bliss, and Redy always felt like a princess whenever she was by your side.
But everything went downhill in 2018.
As the global trend of K-pop continued to gain momentum, the lives of dancers like you and Bada became consumed by the demands of the industry. Bada, in particular, was deeply involved in creating demo choreography for SM Entertainment while you tackled projects with JYP. The rise to stardom brought along a scarcity of time. Still, you remained committed to being a dedicated girlfriend, doing your best to make time for Redy amidst your hectic schedule.
However, Redy's perspective clashed with what you thought. In recent months, she had been wrestling with a growing sense of loneliness. The persistent feeling made her question whether her relationship with you was holding her back. Redy was young, free-spirited, and had many opportunities ahead of her, but it felt like she was playing the waiting game when it came to you.
Adding to her emotional turmoil, both you and Bada had achieved significant fame. Bada became deeply absorbed in her work, making her increasingly unavailable to respond to messages. Redy was the kind of person who actively reached out to friends and cared for their well-being, so Bada's lack of response weighed heavily on her heart. The absence of that connection left her feeling even more isolated and hurt.
On the other hand, you made visible efforts to stay connected, which Redy acknowledged. Yet, each time she saw you and Bada featured in your Instagram stories, it fueled a cascade of negative thoughts, intensifying her inner turmoil. Photos of you guys in the dance studio, going out to eat lunch, hangouts with other dancers, doing demo choreographies for each other caused a pitch black pit to form in Redy’s stomach.
‘You two were mainly working under different companies but still stayed in touch?’
It felt unfair to her. She was witnessing her girlfriend and old friend’s bond going strong while her relationship felt as if it was hanging on the edge of a fine thread.
That wasn’t all. The increase in followers, likes, comments, and DMs on social media made Redy feel inferior. In those moments, it felt like everyone was fighting for your attention, and she couldn’t compete. At that point, she was mainly seeing you through social media, just like everyone else. Every swipe on every story and every post was deteriorating her mental.
Redy’s breaking point happened in a quick flash during a breezy summer night in August. You went out with a bunch of friends to celebrate the release of Stray Kids ‘My Pace,’ as you worked on the majority of that piece. You sat at the dinner table, Minho and Bada by your side as you ate happily.
The idol decided to treat his nonnas this time with their new co-workers, and he bought them a large feast. As the group ate, beside your hand was a small black velvet box and some flowers, a surprise for Redy after not seeing her for a few weeks. You texted and called whenever you could, making sure you made it clear that you never forgot about the girl.
Nearing the end of the dinner, you snap a bunch of photos and dumped them all on your story. After a few minutes, you get a message, and when seeing it was your girlfriend, you smile merrily, thinking it would be a ‘Congrats’ or ‘When are you coming over?’
But your smile drops once you read the small text sent by her.
Soobinnie🩷 Let’s break up.
With no follow-up text, explanation, or even a single call coming through, your sense of bewilderment grew with each passing moment. Your phone remained stubbornly unresponsive, and you found yourself staring at it in disbelief, trying to grasp the unsettling turn of events. You tried to text back, wanting to talk it out, but you were met with failure.
Mrs. Shin💍💍 What? Why? Baby? Soobin? Soobin-ah? *Message not Delivered*
In the midst of the surrounding laughter, Bada noticed the darkness in your eyes and leaned in to inquire softly, "Are you okay?"
As you attempted to muster a response, a surge of overwhelming emotions engulfed you. Your legs acted on their own, swiftly carrying you from your seat, and in your haste to leave, you left behind your sweater and personal belongings. The worried gazes of those around you intensified, but you were powerless to explain, consumed by an overwhelming mixture of confusion, frustration, and anxiety.
“Y/n!” You heard Bada and Minho call out but were met with looks of concern from others at their table. Your legs ran for miles. The drizzle of rain falling on your shoulders couldn’t even stop you.
As you stood before the door, you felt a rush of feelings surging within you, prompting you to ring the doorbell without a moment's hesitation. The sound of the doorbell startled Redy, and she sat up abruptly, a look of surprise on her face. However, her heart felt heavy with the intensity in your voice.
"Baby!" you called out, your voice quivering with deep emotion as you weakly hit the front door of her home, "Soobin! Please!" Your plea sounded desperate, and you panted heavily, trying to catch your breath after that long run.
Raindrops clung to your eyelashes, making it hard to see, and the cold wind cut right through you. Your soaked clothes and trembling body told the story of your determination to reach Redy, to mend what was broken between you.
"C-can… can we talk about it at least?" you stammered, your words rushing out, your heart longing for a chance to make things right. Redy just stood there, her eyes empty and sad as she listened to the rain. It was as if the weather outside had bled into her heart, leaving a heavy silence.
Did she feel like she was in the wrong? Yes.
But did Redy feel like it was right for her? Yes.
After bearing 30 minutes of the chilly breeze and rain, you sank into a deep sense of defeat, met only with a deep silence. Your body shivered uncontrollably as your once-black tank top now clung to your skin. Your hair dangled damp, with raindrops glistening on your arms like delicate jewels.
On that day and moving forward, you were never the same. Maybe if you had an explanation, you’d be fine, but there was none. The outgoing and vibrant version of you was long gone.
So here you were, seated, leaning back and supporting your weight with your hands as you stared at Kang Daniel, who introduced the show and judges.
Redy was almost in disbelief when she saw you during the crew introductions. She had to rub her eyes just to make sure she wasn't imagining things. It nearly brought tears to her eyes because you looked so different from what she remembered. In the photo, your eyes seemed cold and distant, without a hint of the warm smile she used to know.
When she glanced at your list of achievements over the years, a sense of pride welled up within her. She couldn't help but feel happy for you, considering how far you had come and all that you had accomplished.
“Her and Bada have been working together for years, right?” Amy asks and Harimu nods. “Since the CUPCAKES, im pretty sure.” As those words left Harimu’s lips, everyone’s eyes cautiously darted at Redy, who didn’t care about all the looks she got.
Mixed feelings currently lingered in her heart. She couldn't help but feel a little resentment about you being on Bada's team, given your history together. But, despite these conflicting emotions, she also thought that you were a perfect fit as the sub-leader of Bebe. It was like the universe had chosen you for the role, leaving her both proud and unsure of how to feel.
When in the fight zone, Redy’s eyes peered to the left several times, her eyes being captivated by you all over again as if she were the teen you met all those years ago. When you were all told to change, it was time for battles, and Redy was unexpectedly the first one up.
You didn’t have any no-respect sticker, and everyone was seemingly afraid to actually face you, so when Redy walked in front of your crew, you immediately knew who it was. “I choose Bada.”
Your best friend, who sipped her water, flipped the bottle in her hands as you pat her back, hyping her up a little. “You got this, unnie.”
Redy makes eye contact with you, but you subconsciously roll your eyes at her gaze, now feeling self-conscious about your presence. “Redy, why did you pick Bada as your no-respect dancer?” Daniel asks, snapping her back into reality. “I just don’t respect you,” as she said this, a scoff could be heard from behind her, clearly coming from you.
"You know, she doesn't need your respect anyway," you muttered under your breath, but Redy and your teammates heard your words loud and clear.
"Unnie, chill out," Lusher told you, giving your thigh a reassuring pat. "I can't help it," you admitted, your voice tinged with frustration.
As Redy began her performance, you watched as she moved to the music, showcasing just how much she had grown as a dancer. It irked you that, despite everything, you couldn't help but appreciate her presence. But when it was Bada's turn to perform, you had a strong feeling that your best friend would come out on top.
Your hunch proved to be correct, as the judge's cards displayed a light blue color. The younger members of your crew cheered with excitement, and you sat there with a smile on your face. "I knew you'd win," you told Bada, and she responded with an airy laugh. "Of course you did."
Soweon couldn't help but ask, "Do you already know who you're going to pick, unnie?" She looked at you with anticipation, and you turned your gaze toward the other three crews to your right. "I have an idea," you teased, keeping your choice close to your chest for now. After a series of battles, it was finally your turn. The announcer called, "Selene of Bebe, pick your no-respect dancer." You rose from your seat, took a few steps, and positioned yourself in front of 1Million.
"I want…" Your voice trailed off as you scanned each dancer on the crew, but it was when your eyes locked onto Redy's that her breath caught in her throat at the intensity of your cold gaze. You held the mic up to your lips, never wavering in your gaze, and then you announced your decision.
“Lia Kim.”
Lia stood up, shaking all her nerves away, but when she looked at you as you stood across the stage, all she wanted to do was sit back down and pray she could’ve just enjoyed your dance. “Y/n, why did you choose Lia Kim as your no-respect dancer?”
“I think it’d be fun, no?” Your voice was daring as you subconsciously glared at the woman. “I think so too,” her voice stayed strong, but as she puts down the mic, you see her sigh a little.
As the battle went on and you moved your tall body, Redy just stared, and her eyes couldn’t look away even if she wanted. Your hip-hop style was evident in the way you moved, and as you danced, she saw you smile for the first time. It put a smile on her face too, you would always love dancing, regardless of what you went through.
The smile on your face put one thought in Redy’s mind and one thought only.
She wanted to apologize to you and hopefully get back the woman she once loved.
After an intense hour of dance battles, the break time offered a moment of rest.
You decided to take a break and check your phone, leaving your crew temporarily to respond to some messages. As you exited the room, you saw Redy leaning against the wall, looking a bit nervous.
With a sigh, you asked, "Do you want something?" Redy seemed to snap out of her thoughts and nervously wiped her hands on her pants. Her eyes were soft as she gazed at you. "I want to say I'm sorry."
"After 8 years? You want to apologize?" You sounded a little bitter. "Don't you think it's a bit late for that?"
Redy's gaze remained sincere as she admitted, "I know I was wrong, Y/n. I was an insecure girl who didn't realize how tough things were for you. I thought I was the only one suffering while you were enjoying life with Bada." You sighed, thinking that maybe, after all these years, her apology was one of the answers you needed.
You couldn't stay angry, especially when you looked at the woman before you, realizing how much she had grown, her big eyes capturing your heart all over again. "You could've just told me that, you know?" you said with understanding. "Can I give you another chance? I want to make up for my mistakes." Redy's head hung low at the end of her sentence, but you gently patted her head. Your kind nature made it easy to give her a second chance.
"How are you going to make things right?" you asked with curiosity. In response, Redy hugged you tightly. Your laughter marked the beginning of a journey toward healing and forgiveness. For the first time in a long while, you began to feel complete again.

K/DA Lore pt.3
It took me a while to decide on how teen Evelynn would look like. So I held off my last post until I could finalise her design. Yes I heavily based her off Maddison Beers look at the 2018 worlds. Its a shame I wasn't able to showcase her fashion I had in mind. Perhaps I'll try drawing a full body reference in the future.
Time for Kai'sa! KDA's most shallow member! (I love Kai'sa guys I swear. It's riot that ruined her potential.)
As a child Kaisa would travel a lot because of her father's work (military) She would grow up as a model student fluent in many languages and educated in geography and history. Kai'sa is socially underdeveloped due to her "really moves around" upbringing. She also is the "Broken Ace" type (nomadic life), always striving for perfection in her grades and career but in turn suffers socially. This makes Kai'sa very awkward and oblivious to social cues when interacting with people outside of a professional manner. Because of this, she was typically outcasted throughout the many schools she attended. Others feared her like she was some sort of monster. A creature too mysterious and focused on achieving to be understood. School became a hunt to survive mentality to kaisa and nothing else mattered in her world. Yet the longing to belong was still there in her heart. After discovering dance in her teens Kai'sa would start to evolve. She never had hobbies or any indulgences in her life. All she knew was how to survive an ever-changing environment as she constantly moved with her father's tours and deployments around the world. With dance, she finally opened herself up to the idea of living over surviving. From ballet in Russia to hip hop in the Americas Kaisa would find the universal language to feel herself and to connect to those around her no matter where in the world she was. Kaisa grew to have a passion for the arts, she discovered she was diversly gifted in creativity. Her hardworking attitude and serious studying nature helped her achieve many degrees. As an adult, she would make her own studio the Firefly Collective (located in America) where she would share her passion and teach others the wonderful world of dance and would go on to create a popular youtube channel for her studio (think 1MILLION Dance Studio). She was happy being a teacher and was astonished to have been visited by Ahri and Evelynn. Kaisa wasn't too aware of K-pop artists so she didn't recognize them as celebrities but her students did. They freaked out when popstars Ahri and Evelynn entered their dance studio. Seeking out someone to be their choreographer. Kaisa's students urged her to take this opportunity and so Kaisa became the third member of kda.
*Yes Kai'sas lore was mostly ripped off the comics. But I was able to add more context
*in 2018, one year before KDA debuted she won Hong Kong's "Can you dance?" competition. This success was what put her on Ahri and Evelynn's radar. (Kai'sa was 21 at the time)
*Kai'sa had a complete personality overhaul when she discovered dance. She went from the recluse, studyholic to the hippie, free spirited type.
*In her life Kai'sa has lived in 10 countries: China, South Africa, South Korea, France, America, Australia, United Kingdom, Russia, India and Argentina.
*She was born in south africa (as a omage to her default voice actor)
Art by me
Here's a link to my playlist of the music I think suits this pre KDA Kai'sa

Lucy's DDR #1: I Love Dance
My parents and friends think I love to dance. They know without me saying it. In fact, a conversation I had with two NH Medlinks (i.e. my Desmond friend and his H4 friend) went like this:
H4 friend: Oh how do you know (NH4 girl 1) and (NH4 girl 2)? Do you dance? My friend: Does she dance? All she does is dance. H4 friend: Oh cool! Are you in ADT?
Which I found very fonny. No I am not. But alas, for the past two years till now, I have always been dancing, and I really really enjoy it, and I want to get better, and I think I do really love it!
But sometimes, it's hard to love it.
Today I want to talk about a big thing I see in dancers at MIT around me, which is that they have a very stressful relationship with dance. "I might quit all dance next semester," and "The MIT dance community is so toxic," and "I don't know if I want to do <xyz advanced team> next semester or just quit" are phrases I hear often from friends who always end up dancing anywhere from 3-9 hours a week.
They love it, but they hate it. The feelings are so extreme, I think, because dance is a social activity. You make friends, close friends, through dance troupe, ADT, or teams. But with dance, you're also auditioning, getting evaluated and cut, watching yourself side by side with others, being recorded, being talked about, and talking about others. It's a social activity.
And if you start thinking about how good your other peers are compared to you, the deep deep blackhole of dance-is-the-devil is slippery and treacherous. Despite them coming in with more experience, or putting in more hours than you at the expense of grades, sleep, or social life, or having been an athlete before, etc. All of my fellow friends who started dance in college, we've talked about this shared anxiety, but yet. We're all still dancing.
Dance. Dance. Four total semesters now. Why?
My favorite semester ever dance-wise was sophomore fall. Coming back from Korea, where I took a class a week at the famous 1Million and JustJerk dance studios, I was made pretty well aware that MIT was just a spec in the dance world. Thus, I was on my own journey to enjoy the art form and become professional grade good, whether or not MIT's competitive teams wanted me as a dancer did not matter. So, in September, I joined MissBehavior, did a DT dance, and took an MIT Theater dept. class in Hip Hop Dance History and Practice.
McKersin, the lecturer, taught us the history, shared the culture, opened my eyes to the Boston scene. He became the first person ever to tell me... "you need to practice" in an objective but well-meaning way. Previously, choreo workshops and Dance Troupe were fun and good to me, but in the vacuum of no-feedback-ever, I remained convinced that I was great at dancing, and thus was so confused all the time when I got rejected from competitive auditions. Now I was beginning to know.
I practiced freestyle dance and learned choreo from videos on my own, late into the night at BC dance studio. Recording myself, and gritting my teeth as I watched my own recordings. Yuck. Dumpster trash on fire, the stench coming from those videos.
But the way my dance progress became my own? So valuable to me. Thus, I improved.
I'm on a team now, and slightly deeper in the "dance as a social activity" thing both in MIT and the Boston community. Many times, I also struggle. I think I suck, look at that guy who probably only started this year he's so much cleaner than me. And that puts me in the worst bottom of the barrel mood for an entire day. Literally, makes me feel physical pain. But I never hate on dance. It's usually myself that I hate, which is not any better.
I write this on a special day: my first day ever being picked by a choreog in a workshop. You know? As the first subgroup to record? It means you're good. It was an affirmation that I'm doing okay, after a recent wave of self-hatred, actually. Even if I don't hate dance, I struggle a lot with comparing myself, and thinking I'm actually trash and not getting better, which is the root of my friends' problems too. I'm trynna overcome this and share a positive view of dance, like the energy of today's choreographer: it's fun to do and it's safe here.
This post is a reminder to future Lucy that actually, this journey has been one of great memories and progress. So, don't hate yourself, or the art. Be kind to yourself and others. Dance. Dance. Revolution.
