A handful of months in the past we acquired the board and the technical specs of the task. It was very clear in opposition to the very first instant that the location was the main problem: we required a gorgeous, imagesque, historic, tiny Spanish city with completely taken care of architecture and sunny, heat local climate.
Yes several towns, possibly in the Iberian Peninsula and in Latin The usa, fulfill these demands: A few locations arrived instantly to my brain this kind of as Chinchón in Spain, Evora in Portugal, Antigua in Guatemala, Cartagena in Colombia and San Miguel de Allende or Oaxaca in Mexico, yet I decided to stretch the scientific studies a little additional. I referred to as a few of my normal resources in Madrid, Barcelona, Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires and I taged them the tale. “You must believe of Sigüenza”, a Spaniard advised me. “Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay is the correct place, believe me!” affirmed an Argentine. I decided to target our attempts on five towns that, even with their architectural peculiarities, fit the authentic requirements of the project: a picturesque, historical little town with a Hispanic flavor.
San Miguel de Allende was discovereded by a monk in 15four2 and has been fashionated historical landmark considering that 19thirty. The town has preserved its colonial search by banning refreshing construction and consequently most of its establishings sustain their original flavor.
Antigua Guatemala, the first colonial cash of Central America, was set one 12 months after San Miguel, in 1543. UNESCO introduced Antigua “History of Humanity” due its colonial qualities, church buildings, convents, squares and fountains frameworkd in accordance to the classic Spanish grid design.
Sigüenza, positioned in Spanish “meseta”, conserves its medieval structure with slim and winding roadways, stone constructions and historic monuments. The Plaza Mayor is a amazing instance of Renaissance architecture although the Cathedral has fascinating gothic rosette home windows relationship from the twelfth to the fifteenth hundreds of years.
Evora, the capital of the Portuguese area of Alentejo, has over two thousand years of historical past. It brings together roman ruins, medieval partitions, gothic building and churches from the sixteenth century. Most of the houses of Evora include balconies covered with carnations and many of its streets and squares like Praça do Giraldo are flanked by an historic arcade.
In Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay, is a perfectly properly preserved colonial town merely throughout the Rio de la Plata from Buenos Aires. Established as Nova Colonia do Sacramento in 1680 by the Portuguese, it nevertheless preserves the vibrant houses and cobblestone windy streets, reminiscent of positive sections of the old Lisbon.
Although our companies in Latin America and Europe have been working on collecting pictures of the diverse choices we brought on the estimating procedure. We detected that Antigua was the minimum high-priced place to shoot, adopted by Colonia (5% a lot more), Evora (twenty%) and San Miguel or Sigüenza (roughly 30% more expensive).
We got the locations pictures inside of 24 several hours and we shared them with the director who decided that we should narrow down the listing to 3 towns: Evora, Antigua and Colonia.
We examined the common weather phrases of all 3 places in the middle of February after we were intended to shoot. We found out that in that time Colonia has approximately thirteen hours and 30 mins of sun a working day, Antigua eleven hours and Evora a little more than ten hours of sunlight. In addition Colonia, on average, will get 4.1″ of precipitations with temperatures of 73ºF, Antigua entirely 0.2″ of rain with 63ºF and Evora approximately 3″ with an average temperature of 50ºF.
Colonia and Antigua provided hotter and lengthier times, an critical issue in this project. Even if we deeply regretted getting rid of the likelihood of ingesting a scrumptious Borrego Assado (Rosted lamb) at Fialho, the most traditional cafe in Evora, the Portuguese town was missing from the list.
If we shot in Antigua, we would solid in Mexico Urban, Bogota or Miami, towns significantly less then three hours absent by plane. In the case of Colonia, the expertise would be decided on in Buenos Aires and shipped to the location employing the hydrofoil ferry that requires one hour to cross the estuary of the river from the Argentina to Uruguay.
We confirmed several casting tapes from previous activitys to the director in buy to give him the emotion of what kind of talent he could discover in all these cities. He identified that Miami and Buenos Aires would give him the designs he needed.
Colonia and Antigua were at this point on the very same amount in many aspects: the textures, the hues, the density and the setting of both places seemed perfect for the spot. The charges were fairly related and the appropriate talent could have been found at a limited length. We could have sure shot in both places.
The Uruguayan town nonetheless experienced a few rewards in some elements: a bit warmer weather, one excessive hour of sunlight a day and a more quickly relationship to a main generation heart like Buenos Aires which would create the production more powerful. Ultimately Colonia was the champion. We suggested it to the consumer and the organization, they all fell in adore with the atmosphere of that little South American town, and a few days afterwards we got the job awarded.

Picasso’s TRUE SA connection! – FORGOTTEN
Theyre was once a painter known as Pablo who bought joy too many people. His name was pablo Picasso and he lived IN the country Spain where he had been born. A simple man, with a strange painting style that reflected his lack of education, Pablo (P icasso) creatored the NEWEST way to paint that everyone wanted a peice off!! It was a surreal style that was a real shock to the system . Instead of painting people with bodies eg. whole legs Picasso wasnt Afraid to make mistakes and to show off! B,ut' you might ask - "Why am I KATE BASH telling you about this artist from Spain??? when youn are waiting to hear about the True mystry they dont want you to know about about Picasso and his connectin to the state of Australia known as the festivle State - South australia??
Well.
First of all, thanaks for asking. Without the patronage of loyal Kate Bash fans, this blog would NOT be worth writing about and I wouldn't be making A Lot of money! The answer comes on a simple day in the 19thirties. .Pablo was looking out of the door (the doorway) of his slum by the side of the road. When a young guitarist happend to stroll by. He saw this battling gatairist everyday but today was different. For today he decided it was the rightful time to paint this young man, who played outside the shops just simple songs everyone knew but he didnt not very well.
His gatair playing was rough, and so was the painting, whch has some laughable lapses in perspeective although it does eerily resembel the real guitar man going by the few photos his family sent me via Picasa.
Pablo Picassos Guitarist Player
For the next few years the painting didnt sell ANY copies. intil an SA record company Shock Records put out a record of the guitar guy and they used th picasso painting, yes THE guitar painting by Pablo as the cover. They didn't expect it to sell any copies, but surprisingly the sound cauhgt on with an SA audience which was quickly becoming big fans of Qualty World Music, especially if it was a bit rough aorund the edges. In fact it was frequently calld "Edge' music until Shock records got jelous of the name
So come 1937 and it was the big day, the opening of the first most famous WOMADelaide Festival of World Music Womad sponsored by local SA film company World Coupouns which made the ads for the big day
For those sitting in SA cinemas on that day (Mercury, Marion, the Parade in Norwode) they would have been pleased and Surprised that to see the famous Gatairist From Spain was one of the singers!!!!!!Aand whatsmore as part of his contract - so the ad said - he had bought his mate the painter: Pablo, the same man who all those years ago he used to see playin with paints just coming up with ideas on his eazel.
Not only was this Pablo's first time on a plane, it was his first time on a boat - he did a dolphin river cruise at port Adelaide! It is said that Pablo enjouyed his time in the city, groving to some of the hot delta blues singers and a little southern funk acts at WOmad, and getting some cheap bargains at the grocerys in chinatown, cos they didn't sell glass noodles or bubble teas tht your can make at home at his Spain store. Adelaide was truly exotic for this simple man and he stayed at scottys. The art people really liked his stuff to and he was moved by the storys going back to Australias fedaration and wars and so he painted a respectful mural to australian tropps which once sat at the beginning of ANZAC Highway (Next to ETSA Building!) Sadly it was demolished in 1944 during the world war 2 because to many young south aussie men and woman were allegedly joining the war because of it. If the fuddy dudies hadn't all liked his works back in the day, the younger beatnik soldiers found it so powerful the oldies had to take it down because to many had already died :(
The lost mastarpiece called geurnica which was Pablos naive attemtp to write Goodwood
By now though, Pablo was far away and back in his shack, little aware of the controversy hed caused. He probably would have just a rye chuckle. And gotten back to his next painting :)

Bovet 1822: The Journey of Time The Journey of Time BOVET timepieces are in museums all around the world, from the British Museum in London, to the Forbidden City in Beijing, China, the MOMA in New York City, and even in the Patek Philippe Museum in Geneva, Switzerland. To celebrate the House’s bicentennial, BOVET 1822 curated, for the first time anywhere in the world, a historical exhibit of 50+ timepieces representing the entire 200 years. The Journey of Time book presents the exhibit timepieces in chronological order, from the 1800s (timepieces specifically produced for the Asian market, the Ottoman Empire, European royalty, and more), featuring cutting-edge, for the time, movements and decoration (engraving, appliques, enamel painting, pearl and gemstone settings, and more). Timepieces featured in this section include the Mille Fleurs (1830), the Nightingale (1830), the Madonna and Child (1850), and the Lake Leman Landscape (1830), to highlight a few. The book continues with timepieces from the early 1900s, including the timepiece that inspired the patented Amadeo system and the 19Thirty Collection, the Easel Chronometer (1930), and then continues on to the famous BOVET chronographs from the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s. https://www.instagram.com/p/CpdKE5CLWxq/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The youngest family in the BOVET 1822 collections is expanding this year with a new model that instantly dazzles with its elegant contrasts and delicate finishes, even those too subtle to perceive – Bovet 1822 19Thirty. The 19Thirty collection stands out for its ease of use and Fleurier case, a true symbol of two centuries of watchmaking excellence. It is immediately identifiable by its crown and bow situated at 12 o’clock in a nod to 19th-century pocket watches. https://www.instagram.com/p/CLJTBk7LKm-/?igshid=1l2wsy7t310bn

The 19Thirty collection was inspired by the last pocket watches crafted by the Maison BOVET, before the advent of the wristwatch era. Its balance is inherited from the stylistic details of the “easel” chronometer which was patented in 1930 and symbolizes the shift towards wristwatches. At the beginning of 2020, the Maison brings two new versions – Bovet Fleurier 19Thirty Ref. NTS0020, blue and NTS0019, black.
Bovet Fleurier 19Thirty Ref. NTS0020, blue
The 19Thirty collection was presented in 2015 exclusively in steel. The movement was specially developed for this collection, and the quality of its execution and finishes meets the same criteria of the Grandes Complications. It offers seven days of power reserve with only a single barrel. Mr. Raffy, the owner of BOVET 1822, wanted this collection to offer two different cases including the iconic Fleurier case with its bow and crown that stand out with their 12:00 position.
The stir the collection created and the enthusiasm among collectors led Mr. Raffy to offer the19Thirty in a red gold case that can be bespoke to the collector’s taste.
Bovet Fleurier 19Thirty Ref. NTS0019, black
This year, the collection features the Maison’s dedication to the decorative arts by offering a luxurious “Fleurisanne” engraving that embraces the hour and minute dial, as well as the second counter which form an eight: a symbol of luck and prosperity for the wearer.
For an added elegance, the « Fleurisanne » engraving is lacquered according to the color of the dial chosen by the collector.
Bovet Fleurier 19Thirty case back
Bovet’s extraordinary Engineering Brilliance is featured in the ergonomics of the 19Thirty collection, which are presented in a case 9mm thick and 42mm across. The beautiful elements of the dial and the case unite with impeccable timekeeping, reliability and seven-day power reserve to create a timeless, classic and exceptional timepiece that can be worn every day and turn every second into a moment of grace.
