A atriz de '12 Monkeys' e 'Revenge' ajudou a levantar dinheiro em Dubai na noite de 4 de dezembro.

Madeleine Stowe pode ser conhecida por se manter discreta em Hollywood, mas tem feito movimentos constantes no mundo da TV na última década.

Stowe recebeu uma indicação ao Globo de Ouro em 2012 por sua atuação no drama da ABC, "Revenge", e agora está considerando desenvolver uma série de 10 partes com seu marido e ator Brian Benben.

A atriz esteve em Dubai no início de dezembro, no evento de gala da Bovet 1822, Brilliant is Beautiful, para arrecadar fundos para a Artists for Peace and Justice (APJ) e Dubai Cares.

Ela conta que esta atualmente desenvolvendo dois projetos. "Um foi feito para a tela grande e agora alguém quer que nós transformemos em uma série de 10 partes, então esse é um pensamento interessante. Eu e meu marido estamos tentando descobrir como fazer isso", disse Stowe.

O último filme de Stowe é “The Christmas Hope” em 2009. Recentemente ela fez uma participação na série "12 Monkeys" (2016). “Eles não fazem mais filmes como "The Last of the Mohicans" (1992). Você sabe, os filmes que eram feitos com orçamentos entre 35 e 80 milhões de dólares, eles não fazem mais isso. Ou eles fazem com 200 milhões ou fazem tudo com menos de 15, então muitos atores agora estão migrando para a televisão" disse ela, chamando isso de uma "aventura interessante".

A atriz, de 60 anos, vai estrelar a série da Netflix “Mixtape”, ao lado de Jenna Diwan e Callie Hermandez. A série, do mesmo criador de "Quântico", Josh Safran, irá ao ar em 2020. "É realmente encantador e maravilhoso. É uma composição musical, com pessoas que tem estranhas coincidências em suas vidas e elas entram nessas fantásticas sequências e dublam músicas pop. O coreógrafo da Beyoncé está fazendo toda a coreografia da série.” Diz Stowe.

Stowe fala sobre a campanha que trouxe à tona abusos sexuais em Hollywood e sua relação com o produtor Harvey Weinstein. Além de também falar sobre como o seu contexto familiar influenciou seu trabalho filantrópico.

Stowe trabalhou em vários filmes em que Weinstein trabalhou como produtor executivo ou co-produtor, como "Playing by heart" (1998) e "Imposter" (2001). “Eu vou te contar uma historia engraçada. Eu nunca tive um #MeToo (quis dizer que nunca sofreu abuso sexual na indústria do cinema). Eu fui uma das sortudas, mas aparentemente isso [os abusos] ocorreu desenfreadamente, tanto que fiquei chocada.” disse Stowe. "Eu trabalhei com Harvey e nunca tive nenhum problema porque ele sempre estava tentando me convencer a fazer um filme e eu não queria, então era um equilíbrio de poder. Mas nunca ninguém foi além de cortês comigo. E se você fosse a pessoa certa para um projeto, você era, e se não fosse – pra mim era muito negociável... Mas são mulheres que não tem o poder de falar, que tem que lidar com muito assédio no local de trabalho e isso é preocupante. É importante que o movimento do #MeToo das atrizes não ofusque o que as mulheres reais estão passando”, diz Stowe.

Madeleine Stowe participou de recentes movimentos sociais com atores de Hollywood, como a campanha #MeToo que revelou abusos sexuais na indústria cinematográfica. O movimento começou a ganhar força quando várias atrizes falaram contra o magnata do cinema Harvey Weinstein.

A atriz é um dos membros fundadores da APJ, e relembrou a criação de uma escola no Haiti após o devastador terremoto em 2010, e continua a trabalhar para o acesso à educação para jovens do mundo todo. “Eu vim de um contexto muito difícil, pessoalmente. E senti que tinha grande sorte dentro disso. Nós tínhamos um sistema social na América na época que permitia que você ficasse à tona...Meu pai estava desesperadamente doente e minha mãe estava encarregada de cuidar dele e de três filhos porque ele não podia mais trabalhar. Sinto como se tivesse tido sorte na vida ”, ela disse.

Questionada sobre as celebridades se engajarem politicamente, Stowe disse: "Eu acho muito engraçado ver os atores se envolvendo em política... Eu acho que as pessoas vêem os atores com desconfiança como se tivéssemos tentando chamar a atenção. Acho que algumas pessoas estão, e outras são realmente apaixonadas pelo o que elas acreditam. Mas acho que a idéia é dar voz aos que não têm voz, se você puder” diz ela.
