honestly since the nintendo music app has dropped, now i have all my normal music next to all the splatoon music and i just realized that none of this is like what i normally listen to at all, and its just not?? that good???

like, the thing is these songs arent meant to be listened to on their own, they're a soundtrack and are meant to mostly be played in really intense games and are intended to not be distracting, but i dont know if im just like excusing it to myself?

okay i cant be all negative so here's some of the bands that i actually Do genuinely like, not as splatoon bands but as Actual Music That I Enjoy

C-Side. This one honestly suprised me i didnt think too much of them but i realized they're honestly really good it goes hard and i enjoy it

ω-3. I mean ive mentioned they were already my favourite band (tied with Free Association). The only thing i'd say is that they're missing the sort of low end on a few songs, but half the splatoon 2 songs and all the new ones are pretty bassy and thats good. I cannot resist a good cello as well.

Deep Cut. I feel like sometimes they can be a bit much but i do think having a huge variety of instruments and synths is really good. im very bad at describing music but its high energy and it's good. i can tell Big Man carries because i love Liquid Sunshine and i did not like Suffer No Fools. sorry

One thing im realizing about Splatoon is that all the music is so fast. like. Liquid Sunshine like i just mentioned is 177 bpm. Now Or Never is 208. Clickbait is 180. god forbid literally anything be under 120 bpm.

It's obviously done for a reason its all playef during matches, higher bpms work better with all the action and it allows a lot more things to feel like they happen on the beat of the song, and it ends up feeling better inside of the game. but outside of the game. it's all so fast... slow down...

RISE—a debatable "analysis"

so, league of legends and the word alive just recently released rise (redux) as a celebration of the original rise, and it made me realise just how many versions of rise have been released over the years. and then, i thought, well. why shouldn't i go over all of them? it's not like anyone's stopping me :]

so, enjoy my thoughts on every version of rise that i could find! supposedly there was a nightcore version at some point but i couldn't find anything official so it will have to stay off the list for now. also jackeylove has some opinions to share from when each of these came out.

next year it’s gonna be me in the music video just you wait we’re gonna destroy this thing

nostalgia-wise, this isn’t my favorite worlds song. definitely not my favourite mv, but production-wise, i can’t imagine any worlds song that could top this one. although mako has worked on every worlds song since at least 2017 (i think 2016 too, but i can’t easily verify that) except for 2̷̨̫̫͓͕̀̓0̷̡̠̹̭͉́2̶̳͕̟̜̄̓̀͗́2̶̠͉͆̍, he absolutely popped off with this one in particular. the gravelly effect added to his vocals helps demonstrate the weight of the lyrics, and then when it’s taken off for telle’s RISE, it feels even clearer, like they’re breaking through all the barriers to go higher, to literally rise above it all. the bpm (177!) can be felt right at the start, a frantic pace demonstrating just how quickly you could lose everything, how fast you need to move, and the bridge has some of my favourite lyrics in all of riot’s songs. i love nearly all of the worlds songs, but the storytelling in this one is wonderful even without the mv.

on a lyrical level yeah sure rookie’s right; half of it is product placement. however. sometimes noise is good. i usually don’t like remixes, but here it works, because more going on doesn’t take away from the song; just makes it more hype. i don’t follow bobby or ikon much but his flow here is really clean and it’s just a vibe. i think recently i’ve listened to this version much more than the original just because of how much more energy it has, and while it doesn’t have the same feel, i still really like it

it’s still obviously. not good. but it could have been worse. my main problem with it isn’t even the performance it’s the fact that riot turned the mics way down for opening ceremonies after 2018 which is a CRIME LET THEM SING LIVE (it was a bit better for rise 2023 but the other songs were still very loud on the backtracks. i get that some singers aren’t great at the whole projecting thing but come on you can’t tell if you can’t even hear them over the backtrack.)

yeah i can vibe to this right about now

i like this version a lot but out of all the official releases i think i have to put it fourth through no fault of its own but just because it feels like there’s something missing. it’s gritty and it’s definitely a vibe but there aren’t the layers of production that you don’t notice until they’re missing, especially with how flat the RISE feels. of course, this makes sense—it’s riot forge, and production is all attributed to UNSECRET, but it’s a shame that by any other standards it’d be an absolute banger but here it falls just short. fun fact though, this was the version i put on my playlist for when i was writing nmftg (and no i haven't forgotten about the behind the scenes stuff i promised. it's coming soon i swear)

there’s a reason i heap so much praise on mako. these are demo vocals and just the layers here give me chills, not to mention how much of a sucker i am for strings. i would pay so much for a full album of a full version of all of his silly little string arrangements for all the worlds (and other riot songs, let’s be real) songs he worked on. you have no idea. can’t judge it as a full song but if it were it would be very high on my list

look, i’m biased. but seeing mako’s redemption was everything (and if you haven’t seen the clip he posted, absolutely check it out) and the orchestral instrumental slowing it down instead of the more frantic opening and hard beat gave it a more serious weight that felt especially appropriate for the revival of the song and the ongoing themes of 2023 worlds, with the Glory and the previous winners looking for redemption (even though wbg were complete frauds). it’s a perfect rendition for that ceremony and honestly like. thanks for not doing a season start cinematic riot the rise redemption was a banger you can tell just how much being able to do that performance meant to them and the emotions brought me to tears watching it live

i am glad they brought back season start song for this year though :)

telle’s vocals on this track are just so full of emotion that i can’t not love it. add to that my soft spot for rock and you get just a beautiful song. i can’t say whether or not it’s my favourite, just due to how new it is, but it’s undoubtedly great, and you should listen to it :)

I've ended up in the ER because of a panic attack. They gave me 5 Ativan's and that barely got my heart rate down to the 90s. Turns out my heart rate can get up to 177 BPM while I'm sleeping.

Once the cause of your anxiety is far from you he helps you with a breathing exercise and other tactics to calm your heart rate and breathing

Eddie asks you if he can tell Wayne about your anxiety and if you agree he'll tell Wayne about your triggers and how to help you through attacks just in case you are at the trailer or hanging with Wayne without him when you're anxiety gets triggered

Eddie knows that you've dealt with anxiety by yourself for years and he refuses to let you go through it alone anymore

If you take medicine to help with your anxiety both Eddie and wayne make sure you take it

Definitely depends on how long you two have been together

If you're still in the early stages he might just leave you be

But! If you are together for a little bit and he knows how he feels about you he helps you the best he can

I feel like he definitely has an anxiety problem (I honestly think all three of them do) but since he hides his anxiety he doesn't know how to help you that much

The two of you help one another with your anxiety. You teach him breathing exercises and other techniques you use to help with your own anxiety. (I try and find something soft to feel or something cold. I also try and find certain colors in my surroundings to ground myself :) )

When Billy figures out more about anxiety he talks to max about some of it. He doesn't go into dealt because he doesn't want to be to vulnerable with her but know he sees that max has anxiety issues too and he doesn't want her to deal with that alone

He never really understand anxiety and panic attacks until the first time around with the upside down

After the first time he was in the upside down he started having bad nightmares and really bad anxiety

Robin helped him learn how to handle his anxiety a bit better so he uses those tips she gave him to help you

Steve and you try to find ways to help each other with each other's anxiety

You two start to journal

With the Journaling you write down about triggers and things that have helped control it in the past. But as you keep Journaling you beginning writing down emotions and highlights of your days

Introduction + Hero Bios

This chapter is to help prevent confusion when the Kids are called by their hero names. An explanation of their powers has been included. Information related to the villains and another character are not included to prevent spoilers. There will be a chapter dedicated to these characters after the story. There may be a labelled chapter for smut. I am still debating this option. When I've decided, this statement will change.

I started this fic two months before GO生 era. I didn't have specific hair colours in mind for the boys then, but the vibes of GO生 matched perfectly, so now you can visualize things. (Praise be Hyunjin's long hair.) Secondly, I wasn't sure how to complete the climax of what is now the third chapter, during those two months. I dreaded the draft and might have touched it three times, just to peck at what I already had. Thanks to two moots on Twitter who let me write out a summary of the first chapter, what I had for the second chapter (I'll let you know what in the Villain Bios if you're curious, don't worry) and all the new stuff in their DMs. I copy-pasted what I had into my drafts, edited some of what came before then because the new material made everything way better, and went on from there.

Another moot gave me direction for chapter four after posting a voice-tweet about a nightmare she had during a nap. Prior to our conversation, it was going to be a rather eventless chapter, much like the first. A breath of fresh air for everyone. In part, this is still true. But part of me didn't want to be done with the villains, and what happened in that nightmare was just too good to not utilize. So another thanks to that person! And thank you, for choosing a longer fic rather than a bite-sized one.

Bang Chan/Christopher: Double Knock

Power: manifests in his muscles, especially in his arms and legs. Is thought to be sourced from his thoughts and confidence in himself and his teammates. He has steel built into his armour to protect his knuckles, knees and in his footwear to protect his feet. He can throw a 45 kg. (100 lb.) object a distance of 500 meters. Can 'weld' the dan geum into his chest to unleash his full potential, in which he turns invisible for up to three minutes and leaves no scent or tracks.

He has a magic trail detectable by the Kids, police chief and supernatural beings. While invisible, he can run up to 30 kilometres (19 miles) per hour, and his touch becomes his dan geum. If he were to run his hand along an opponent's body, they would not feel Hyunjin's hand but would, of course, feel their new wound. He is prone to motion sickness regardless of whether he uses his powers. This especially comes into effect when becoming invisible more than 5 times within the span of fifteen minutes.  

Lee Yongbok/Felix: Felix

Power: manifests in cat-like nails that sprout from his fingertips, increased speed and acrobatic abilities. Naturally reacts to everything like a cat and frequently makes cat-like vocalizations. His nails are tough as diamonds and catch fire the faster and longer he is in motion. His freckles catch fire from extended periods of motion, and within a minute of his freckles catching fire, his entire body becomes enveloped in flames. His power creates an invisible shield so that he doesn't burn himself.

The fire is a constant temperature of 350°F (177°C) but can reach a temperature of 450°F (232°C) with concentration or adrenaline. He can remain aflame for two minutes without feeling heat from his powers. He can use the full extent of his powers for seven minutes, then loses his flame as if he has been blown out like a candle and will be unconscious for ten to fifteen minutes. He becomes thirsty after being aflame for longer than two minutes.

The first and second rules can connect to the third rule if the item of interest was enchanted or touched by someone with magical powers. He can only detect traces of magic if the person who enchanted or touched the object did so ten minutes within him interacting with the object. He gets an intense headache from using his power for longer than six minutes. A nosebleed is his body's warning that he must stop using his powers soon, or else he will faint and be unconscious for five minutes.

If he is within 100 meters (328 ft.) of a human or humanoid being that is using supernatural powers, he will feel vibrations in the air and be able to pinpoint where the user was located at the time. If he is overwhelmed by vibrations, he will have an extreme migraine and need to steady himself or sit down so that he doesn't fall. He is susceptible to blacking-out from exposure for up to eight minutes.
