Israel relies on crude oil and refined products from overseas to run its large fleet of fighter jets, tanks and other military vehicles. The research, which was commissioned by the non-profit Oil Change International and shared exclusively with the Guardian, examines this fuel supply chain, which since the current conflict in Gaza began appears to have relied heavily on fossil fuels from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Brazil, Gabon and the US. The analysis by Data Desk, a UK-based tech consultancy firm investigating the fossil fuel industry, suggests the major oil companies facilitating the fuel supplies include BP, Chevron, ExxonMobil, Shell and TotalEnergies.
[...]
Human rights experts said that countries and corporations supplying oil to Israeli armed forces may be complicit in war crimes and genocide. “The countries and companies that have continued to supply oil to the Israeli military since the decision of the international court of justice are contributing to horrible human rights violations and may be complicit in genocide,” said David Boyd, the United Nations special rapporteur on human rights and the environment. “Oil firms must ensure they’re not in the business of helping to entrench Israel’s apartheid system or fuelling war crimes and possible genocide in Gaza,” said Peter Frankental, Amnesty International UK’s economic affairs director, adding that it was incumbent on every company with commercial ties to the Israeli military to do “due diligence”.

A potential Russian passport ban could affect #NJDevils  prospects and players.
The report first emerged via the Novaya Gazeta Europe which states, “The draft proposal would introduce the ban this year, Novaya Gazeta wrote, meaning Russians living abroad would have to return to the country to obtain or renew their passports.”
At this time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation has denied the report. The rest of the report can be read here.
The Devils didn’t roster any Russian players this season, therefore, the main roster appears to be safe. However, in their system, there could certainly be lasting implications.
Currently, there are five players in the Devils’ prospect pool who hail from Russia.
Only one is overseas playing North American hockey, in the American Hockey League skating on the Utica Comets’ blue line.
Daniil Misyul — who crossed the pond from the KHL in May 2023 — made his AHL debut with the Comets in October. He’s established himself as a physical presence with the Comets and scored four goals and 14 points in 44 games this year.
Should the potential passport ban come to fruition, Misyul will need to return to Russia and renew his passport, which leaves the possibility he’ll need to take leave from the Devils organization.
The remaining four prospects are currently playing in Russia — all playing in the KHL — are defensemen Artyom Barabosha, Daniil Orlov, Yegor Zaitsev, and prized forward prospect Arseni Gritsyuk.
For the four aforementioned players, receiving new passports should be less or a hurdle while residing in their home country if they choose to cross the pond.
Gritsyuk is on the record stating that following the 2024-25 season, he aims to make the leap from the KHL to North America to play in the Devils’ organization.
He’ll need to ensure he has an up-to-date passport.
The potential passport ban will have the same effect on fellow NHL teams and their prospect pools alike. Philadelphia Flyers fans are certainly keeping a close eye on this situation after just signing goaltender Ivan Fedotov. All while they patiently wait for their highly skilled prospect, Matvei Michkov who is playing in the KHL.
It certainly adds an interesting wrinkle to Kevin Weekes’ report on Saturday that player agent Dan Milstein is holding a pre-NHL Draft showcase with several Russian clients/top prospects in the middle of June.
What do you all think

When updating the animated movie schedule that I have on hand, I noticed something...
We have some mixed-media games of chicken coming. Family movie battles that may or may not happen, on the heels of the recent release date switch-ups for TRANSFORMERS ONE and THE WILD ROBOT:
The first one... Possibly... MOANA 2 vs. WICKED PART ONE - November 27, 2024. Disney and Universal head to head with musicals, one all-animated, one live-action with lots of animation in it. I say possibly, as I'm not sure what audience WICKED PART ONE is aiming for. Is this gonna be a PG-rated family film? Or an edgier PG-13 affair? I know next to nothing about the musical (apparently it's recommended as an 8+ sorta deal?), but these are both very similar in a few regards: Musical, fantasy, and because the latter is associated with the family classic THE WIZARD OF OZ - WIZARD OF OZ wouldn't have happened if not for the influence and success of Walt Disney's SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS. I still think it's worth including. I can see both doing very, very well because of how beloved the original MOANA is, and because WICKED is a big deal and OZ is always a classic. MOANA 2 came out of nowhere as a former Disney+ series-turned-movie, so that makes the face-off all the more interesting to me.
Then there's MUFASA: THE LION KING vs. SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 3. December 20th of this year. Disney vs. Paramount. An all-animated movie that looks very real vs. a live-action movie with animated characters in it. MUFASA has a trailer out, which makes sense given that it was originally supposed to come out in July, so it was probably finished or close to being done a while ago. SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 3 entered production after that, and will still make its date apparently, with no trailer out.
MUFASA is a prequel/sequel to a 5-year-old LION KING remake that grossed $1.6 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing animated film of all-time. That being said, whenever Disney does a follow-up to one of their modern remakes... It usually doesn't do anywhere *near* as well as the first... See ALICE THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS and MALEFICENT 2 as evidence of that. Both SONIC movies combined didn't make half of what LION KING '19 made, but still did very very well for what they are. SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2 made $405m, so I can imagine the third movie making significantly more than that. Especially since they're bringing in even more characters that fans know and love. Perhaps the family movie event of the holidays outside of MOANA 2. I don't really know who's exactly all that thrilled for MUFASA, but maybe I'll be wrong on that one. Maybe that'll be the movie to go to if the other two are sold out.
Another family movie battle is set to commence next summer. On June 13, 2025...
Pixar's delayed animated sci-fi adventure ELIO vs. Universal's live-action adaptation of HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON.
Both of these movies were delayed from their first-nabbed release dates, ELIO seeing the biggest delay. When it was eyeballing March 1st of this year, ELIO had a trailer and a poster out. Then during the writer and actors' strikes last summer/autumn, Disney delayed the Pixar picture by a year and a half. As rumors indicate, this picture needed to be extensively retooled... Can't do that when the writers and actors voicing the characters are out there fighting for what's right, so it had to wait.
Live-action DRAGON first nabbed March 14, 2025, and then moved to ELIO's date after ELIO took it. It is currently filming in Ireland.
Out of these two movies, I think DRAGON is a guaranteed success. As much as some of us don't like 'em, live-action adaptations of things largely associated with animation tend to do pretty good. Whether it's streaming shows or feature films. Once in a while Disney doesn't score, but when they do... They do. Often to the tune of a billion dollars, or at least half as much as that. Last summer's LITTLE MERMAID may not have made back its budget, but $560m+ is still nothing to scoff at. It's a *flop* in the same way MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - DEAD RECKONING was. Made lots of money and was quite popular, still wasn't enough. Then you wonder why there are strikes, eh? The HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON animated trilogy that was made at DreamWorks is pretty beloved, all of its installments grossing above $490m+ worldwide each. And Dean DeBlois, who directed on each film, directs the live-action movie too. John Powell returns to score, Gerard Butler is back to play Stoick the Vast. The familiarity will help it, but if it's different enough to stand out, that could also really help it. The first movie will also be 15 years old by then, definitely some nostalgia there. I think it'll at least make $150m domestically, if not $200m. From the outside, it looks like a "live-action remake of a DreamWorks animated movie".
Whereas ELIO? I've repeated this ad naseum, but animated movies that aren't sequels or easily-recognizable IP (read: Mario) tend to open low in this day and age. ELEMENTAL, Pixar's first not-sequel picture to open theatrically since ONWARD, collected the lowest opening ever for one of their movies. Luckily, it had legs and audiences overseas really dug it, getting it nearly past the 2.5x-its-budget threshold. I'm sure Disney wants a bona fide return to Pixar blockbusters, original and sequel. Thus they would probably want ELIO to remain a summer launch. Pixar barely ever deviates from a late May/mid June release, with the exceptions of some March and November releases. Typically, they like that June space.
I also noticed... There's a sizable gap in early 2025. There's an animated feature set for late January (DOG MAN), another for February (THE SMURF MOVIE)... And then, nothing till ELIO. March and April, completely blank. No doubt caused by the strikes, maybe more if/when an animation strike erupts this coming summer.
I do wonder if ELIO, since the delay gave it *plenty* of time to be fixed up (I hear it isn't a GOOD DINOSAUR situation where they completely started over, just re-configuring whole parts of it), will be completed ahead of schedule. Disney has an untitled project set for early March, likely a placeholder for something. Could just be a Searchlight or 20th Century movie, maybe ELIO could move there. Live-action SNOW WHITE opens later that month... But that didn't stop Disney from planning on releasing ELIO and SNOW WHITE together this past March. Disney often tends to put things close to each other. For example, MOANA - a Thanksgiving 2016 release - opened between early November release DOCTOR STRANGE and mid-December biggie ROGUE ONE. One example off the top of my head.
But it will all happen when it has to... I do doubt, however, that ELIO will go head to head with HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON '25 though. In addition to that, I still find it kinda weird that Disney Animation will have three sequels in a row when there was at least one original being developed there. Things often change close to release date, too, so... We shall see...
And lastly, I covered it before... This time an all-animated face-off... Warner Animation's CAT IN THE HAT movie vs. an untitled Pixar movie, both set for March 6, 2026. Until we know what the Pixar movie is, likely an original movie, I can't really say. I would reckon the Pixar movie moves, considering that Pixar hasn't landed a March hit yet. Circumstances... ONWARD was released right before the pandemic became a national issue here in the states, TURNING RED went straight to streaming, ELIO could've been this year's March picture but moved to next summer. Maybe March 2026 is when Pixar succeeds with a springtime release. That is, if CAT IN THE HAT ends up moving.

[ad_1] The Chinese military's Eastern Theatre Command said the "Joint Sword-2024B" drills were taking place in the Taiwan Strait. ( Source: File Photo)4 min read Last Updated : Oct 14 2024 | 8:21 AM IST China's military started a new round of war games near Taiwan on Monday, saying it was a warning to the "separatist acts of Taiwan independence forces", and offered no date for when they may conclude, drawing condemnation from Taipei's government. Democratically governed Taiwan, which China views as its own territory, had been on alert for more war games since last week's national day speech by President Lai Ching-te, an address Beijing condemned after Lai said China had no right to represent Taiwan even as he offered to cooperate with Beijing. Click here to connect with us on WhatsApp The Chinese military's Eastern Theatre Command said the "Joint Sword-2024B" drills were taking place in the Taiwan Strait and areas to the north, south and east of Taiwan.  "The drill also serves as a stern warning to the separatist acts of Taiwan independence forces. It is a legitimate and necessary operation for safeguarding state sovereignty and national unity," it said in a statement carried both in Chinese and English. The command published a map showing nine areas around Taiwan where the drills were taking place - two on the island's east coast, three on the west coast, one to the north and three around Taiwan-controlled islands next to the Chinese coast. Chinese ships and aircraft are approaching Taiwan in "close proximity from different directions", focusing on sea-air combat-readiness patrols, blockading key ports and areas, assaulting maritime and ground targets and "joint seizure of comprehensive superiority", the command said. However, it did not announce any live-fire exercises or any no fly areas. In 2022, shortly after then-US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visited Taiwan, China fired missiles over the island. Taiwan's China policy making Mainland Affairs Council said that China's latest war games and refusal to renounce the use of force were "blatant provocations" that seriously undermined regional peace and stability. In the face of the further political, military and economic threats posed by China to Taiwan in recent days, Taiwan would not back down, Taiwan's China-policy making Mainland Affairs Council said in a statement. "President Lai has already expressed his goodwill in his national day speech and is willing to shoulder the responsibility of maintaining peace in the Taiwan Strait together with the Chinese communists," it added. Taiwan's defense ministry said it had dispatched its own forces. Lai's national day speech highlighted the current state of cross-strait relations and the firm will to safeguard peace and stability and advocated future cooperation in coping with challenges like climate change, the ministry added. "The Chinese communist's claim of 'picking quarrels and provoking trouble' is a complete departure from the truth," it added. A senior Taiwan security official, speaking to Reuters on condition of anonymity given the sensitivity of the situation, said they believed China was practicing blockading Taiwanese ports to the north and south of the island and international shipping lanes as well as repelling the arrival of foreign forces. Taiwan on Sunday had reported a Chinese aircraft carrier group sailing to the island's south through the strategic Bashi Channel which separates Taiwan from the Philippines and connects the South China Sea to the Pacific. Chinese state media has since Thursday run a series of stories and commentaries denouncing Lai's speech, and on Sunday the Eastern Theatre Command released a video saying it was "prepared for battle". The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the war games. The US last week said China had no justification for using Lai's national day speech as a pretext for military pressure. China held the "Joint Sword-2024A"
drills for two days around Taiwan in May shortly after Lai took office, saying they were "punishment" for separatist content in his inauguration speech. Lai has repeatedly offered talks with China but has been rebuffed. He says only Taiwan's people can decide their future and rejects Beijing's sovereignty claims.(Only the headline and picture of this report may have been reworked by the Business Standard staff; the rest of the content is auto-generated from a syndicated feed.)First Published: Oct 14 2024 | 8:21 AM IST [ad_2] Source link

FFXIVWrite 2024 - Day 14: Telling
post shb; thancred speaks to the exarch
———
“So, about our beloved ‘Warrior of Darkness’… What are your intentions with her?”
The Exarch looked up. The other Scions, said warrior included, had already left, leaving him alone in the Ocular alone with a rather wary-looking Thancred.
“I am…afraid I’m not quite sure what you’re asking.”
Thancred narrowed his eyes. “We’re not blind, Exarch. We can tell you seem to harbour certain…affections for the girl.”
So that’s what this is about. He turned around. His footsteps echoed as he stepped over to the mirror, its blue surface currently reflecting naught but the indistinct image of himself back at him.
“…My ‘affections’, as you say, have never been of import,” he said. “‘Twould be remiss of me to place such a thing above that which must be done.”
Thancred’s response was immediate. “And if Ahki were to return said feelings? What would you do then?”
She wouldn’t, was his first thought. It was a fantasy he could scarcely dare dream of, one long since abandoned, and passed off as impossible. But one tiny voice in the back of his head still yearned, and reminded him, each time she entered his vision, each time he used the mirror to show him even just a glimpse of what she was up to. That she’s here. She’s here, and she’s alive. And that she would go as far as to call him a friend, and actively seek him out to spend time with him.
That much was already beyond what he deserved.
“That…I suppose we’d just have to see if it comes to it,” he spoke at last.
“So, you’re not denying it then?” Thancred’s question was direct, and to the point.
What point was there, in doing so now? He closed his eyes, speaking slowly.
“Everything that I do, I do for her, and for this star. The depth of my feelings towards her have always gone far beyond that of a simple affair, and I would do anything to keep her from harm.”
“…That is all I ask,” Thancred said quietly, the relief, or perhaps satisfaction, plain in his voice, and the Exarch continued speaking.
“What she ultimately decides to do with her life, and whomever she may wish to spend it with, is and will always remain her decision and her decision alone. I will stake no claim in it, and I will support her to the end no matter where it may lead her.”
There was silence, for a moment, before Thancred let out an audible sigh of resignation behind him. The Exarch turned around, stepping down the few short steps that led up to the mirror.
”It would appear she is in good hands then.” Thancred let out an audible sigh of resignation, before catching his gaze with his own, pale, silvery eyes narrowed. “Just know, that if you do anything to hurt her, I will know.”
I wouldn’t dream of it, he thought, before speaking up, unabated. “I would wager I’m not the only one in this room harbouring strong feelings for her.”
Thancred dipped and turned his head, looking off to the side somewhere. “…They’re nothing compared to your own, I assure you. She is… Let’s just say she was dear to someone close to me.”
From his own knowledge, from what he had witnessed and information he had been privy to, the Exarch could make some guesses, but the private matters of the Scions were neither his business nor his concern. If they wished to tell, they would tell, but he would not ask for confirmation.
“…I see.”
“So…keep her safe, will you? And…make her happy.”
He had tried to give his life for hers once already. As for the latter request…
“I will do all that is within my power. You have my word.”
“Thank you.”

And...poof!...just like that.
Tumblr media
May 6, 2024
It's not often you get to see a politician's entire career completely collapse as the result of a single ill-considered act. But once in a while it does happen.
Take, for example, the case of Gary Hart, senator from Colorado and Democratic front-runner in the 1988 presidential race. Responding to rumors of extramarital affairs, Hart recklessly challenged the media to follow him around, promising they would be very bored. As NBC anchor John Chancellor remarked, "We did. We weren’t."
It soon emerged that a woman named Donna Rice had accompanied Hart on an overnight trip from Miami to Bimini aboard an 83-foot luxury yacht named (we kid you not) Monkey Business. A picture subsequently appeared in hundreds of newspapers showing Rice sitting on Hart’s lap. Five days later Hart withdrew as a presidential candidate.
Or, consider the disastrous photo op of Massachusetts governor and 1988 presidential nominee Michael Dukakis wearing a dopey grin and a huge helmet aboard a 68-ton M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tank. His opponent quickly turned it into an ad ridiculing him. And after winning only 10 states plus the District of Columbia in the general election, Dukakis was never heard from again.
Then there was Howard Dean, former governor of Vermont and 2004 presidential aspirant. Following his loss in Iowa's primary, Dean tried to buck up his supporters by shrieking an energetic "Yeah!" Within four days, that maniacal scream was broadcast 633 times on the national news. Following his third-place finish in Wisconsin a month later, Dean suspended his campaign.
These were all Democrats, but Republicans aren't immune to similar implosions. Which brings us to South Dakota governor and Trump VP hopeful Kristi Noem (currently hitting the reputation rehabilitation circuit — so far, it seems, unsuccessfully). In her forthcoming memoir, Noem brags that she shot her dog Cricket, a 14-month-old wirehair pointer, because it was "untrainable" as a hunting dog. The reaction was about what you'd expect. Even hard-core MAGAs were repelled by someone who would execute a dog. Added New York Magazine,
Oh, you thought this bloody tale of animal cruelty was done? Nope! Noem then decided she had to murder the family's “nasty and mean” goat, too.
Why would she admit to such a thing? To show her cruelty and tough-mindedness, of course. And because Trump's MAGA cult fervently admires those qualities. But while the indiscriminate killing of immigrants, shoplifters and Black Lives Matter protesters is just hunky-dory with MAGAdonians, they apparently draw the line at shooting a puppy. Which means Noem's veep chances and political ambitions have literally gone up in gunsmoke.

WASHINGTON | Finnish brothers killed by lightning as they heated sauna
WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump is seeing steels mills spring up where they aren’t and cleaner air than his government is tracking in its records.
Over the past week, his comment that people need photo IDs to shop in stores displayed a misunderstanding of the marketplace obvious to any average shopper with cash or a credit card.
A sampling of comments by Trump and his officials, spanning NATO, the Russia investigation, environmental matters and more:
CLEAN AIR TRUMP, on air quality in the U.S.: “It’s the best it’s ever been.” — Pennsylvania rally Thursday.
THE FACTS: Not true, going by the key measure of air quality. The EPA’s air quality index shows a worsening since 2014, the best year as measured by the number of days with bad air.
For that index, 35 cities reported unhealthy air for a total of 599 days in 2014. That went up to 729 days in 2017, the worst year since 2012 (1,297 days). The index measures ozone and soot. ___
JOBS TRUMP: “U.S. Steel is opening up seven plants.” — remarks Thursday at the Pennsylvania rally. On Tuesday: “Thanks to our tariffs, our steel workers are back on the job, American steel mills are back open for business … U.S. Steel just announced that they’re building six new steel mills.” — Florida rally.
THE FACTS: No, U.S. Steel has not announced six, or seven, new steel mills. A spokeswoman for the Pittsburgh-based company, Meghan Cox, declined to comment on Trump’s claim, only making clear that any “operational changes” such as the opening of new mills would be “publicly announced” and “made available on our website” if it occurred. ___
AUTO SAFETY EPA, citing potential benefits from freezing Obama-era mileage standards: “Increased vehicle affordability leading to increased driving of newer, safer, more efficient and cleaner vehicles. … Over 12,000 fewer crash fatalities over the lifetimes of all vehicles built through model year 2029. Up to 1,000 lives saved annually.” — information sheet released Thursday.
THE FACTS: The claimed safety benefits are unverifiable and probably overstated. While newer vehicles are safer due to better engineering and safety features such as more air bags, automatic emergency braking and blind spot detection, auto safety experts say the difference between vehicles made 10 years ago and now isn’t that big and the number of lives saved can’t really be calculated. Decade-old vehicles have anti-lock brakes and electronic stability control that stop drivers from losing control, two major safety advances. ___
EPA assistant administrator Bill Wehrum: “We’ll leave the standards at a place where we’re not imposing undue costs on manufacturers.” — news briefing Thursday. THE FACTS: Insulating U.S. manufacturers is not easy to do. Even if the U.S. freezes its mileage requirements, the European Union, China, Japan and other nations will continue to increase theirs, which already are more stringent. Because most automakers sell vehicles worldwide, they’ll have to develop new technology such as electric cars anyway to satisfy other markets. The U.S. may not get the new technology as quickly as elsewhere. ___
VOTER ID TRUMP: “We believe that only American citizens should vote in American elections, which is why the time has come for voter ID like everything else. If you go out and you want to buy groceries, you need a picture on a card, you need ID. You go out, you want to buy anything, you need ID, you need your picture.” — remarks Tuesday. THE FACTS: As shoppers know, no photo is required to purchase items at retail stores with cash or to make routine purchases with credit or debit cards.
Identifications are required to purchase limited items such as alcohol, cigarettes or cold medicine and in rapidly declining situations in which a customer opts to pay with a personal check. According to the National Grocers Association’s most recent data, the use of checks as a percentage of total transactions dropped from 33 percent in 2000 to 6 percent in 2015, due in part to the popularity of debit cards, which use PIN codes. The group’s members are independent food retailers, family-owned or privately held, both large and small. ___
WHITE HOUSE PRESS SECRETARY SARAH HUCKABEE SANDERS: “He’s not saying every time he went in; he said when you go to the grocery store.” — press briefing Wednesday. THE FACTS: Actually, Trump did claim, erroneously, that photo IDs are required whenever “you want to buy anything,” not only in limited cases. Asked when Trump last bought groceries, Sanders responded, “I’m not sure. I’m not sure why that matters, either.” ___
NATO TRUMP: “I went to NATO. And NATO was essentially going out of business ’cause people weren’t paying and it was going down, down, down.” On NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg: “He said we couldn’t collect money until President Trump came along. And he said last year we collected $44 billion. And this year the money is pouring in. … So the bottom line is the NATO countries are now paying a lot more money.” — news conference Monday with Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte.
THE FACTS: Countries don’t pay to be in NATO and don’t owe the organization anything other than contributions to a largely administrative fund that Trump is not talking about. Member countries are not in debt to NATO. Money is “not pouring in” now. Collections have not increased, as he asserted. Trump’s actual beef is with how much NATO countries spend on their own military budgets. The Trump administration is not the first to push countries in NATO to spend more on their own armed forces to lessen their dependence on the U.S. In fact, it was in 2014, during the Obama administration, that NATO members agreed to move “toward” spending 2 percent of their gross domestic product on their own defense by 2024.
The somewhat-vague commitment was made as a response to Russia’s actions in Ukraine and its annexation of Crimea. No one expected all allies would immediately move to 2 percent; the increases were to be gradual. ___
VETERANS TRUMP: “We passed the biggest VA reform in half a century, Veteran’s Choice. If our veterans can’t get the care they need from the VA, they will have the right to go see a private doctor.” — remarks Tuesday in Tampa.
THE FACTS: Trump’s suggestion that veterans can get care immediately under the private-sector Veterans Choice program and without restriction is misleading.
Before veterans have the right to see a private doctor, they must meet certain criteria first, such as whether they face an “excessive burden” in receiving care at a Department of Veterans Affairs medical center. Under the current Choice guidelines, veterans also must wait at least 30 days for an appointment at a VA facility before they are eligible to receive care from a private doctor.
TRUMP: “And I used to say before I really was well-versed on the veteran situation in health care, I used to say all the time, ‘Why don’t they just let the folks go to a doctor?’ They’d wait in line for 7 days, 9 days, 14 days, 21 days … I said, ‘Why don’t they just let them go see a local private doctor, pay the bill and take care of it?’ And it’s turned out to be something that the veterans love. And it’s passed. It’s passed.” — remarks Tuesday.
THE FACTS: It’s not clear if veterans love the current Choice program, judging by the wait times. Despite the Choice program’s guarantee of providing appointments within 30 days, a recent report from the Government Accountability Office found that veterans actually waited an average of 51 to 64 days to receive care. A newly expanded Choice program will take at least a year to be implemented. ___
RUSSIA INVESTIGATION TRUMP: “Collusion is not a crime, but that doesn’t matter because there was No Collusion (except by Crooked Hillary and the Democrats)!” — tweet Tuesday.
TRUMP LAWYER RUDY GIULIANI: “I have been sitting here looking in the federal code trying to find collusion as a crime. … Collusion is not a crime.” — remarks Monday on Fox News.
THE FACTS: It is correct to say election collusion isn’t a precise legal term. The U.S. code mostly uses the term “collusion” in antitrust laws to address crimes like price fixing. As it relates to Russia and U.S. elections, the term can be seen as shorthand for plenty of violations of specific laws on the books.
For instance, there could be legal violations if Trump’s presidential campaign is found to have collaborated with Moscow, including a conspiracy to defraud the United States. There are also laws against election fraud, computer hacking, wire fraud and falsifying records, if those apply.
So far, special counsel Robert Mueller has accused the Russians of hacking into Democrats’ computers and stealing emails, as well as trying to stoke U.S. tensions before the 2016 election using social media.
Mueller might decide, for example, that a crime was committed if he finds evidence that an American was involved in the hack of Democrats, either by soliciting it or paying someone to do it. As well, a conspiracy to defraud the United States can be used to refer to any two people using “deceit, craft, or trickery” to interfere with governmental functions, such as an election.

(Joe Maher/WireImage)Sitting down to do an 'Ask Me Anything' over on Reddit, commonly referred to an AMA, he took questions from the public on everything and anything that tickled their fancy.Posting this in 2022, he said: "I’m Brian Cox, Professor of Physics at The University of Manchester and The Royal Society in London. I’ll be touring the world, talking about the interior of black holes, the origin of life and the Universe itself - with huge screens, cinematic graphics and a comedian."One of the top questions was: "What are some of the bigger mysteries that the James Webb telescope is going to help us solve?" Answer "It'll be able to see the formation of the first stars and galaxies (because it's sensitive in the infrared) - which will be very exciting." Question 1: What are some of the mysteries that the James Webb telescope is aiming to solve? a. Detecting black holes b. Studying exoplanet atmospheres c. Observing distant galaxies and stars d. Mapping the solar system Answer: c. Observing distant galaxies and stars Question 2: Which special capability of the James Webb telescope is mentioned as 'very exciting'?
a. Ability to explore the Milky Way b. Photo-synthesis detection c. Identifying alien life forms d. Formation of the first stars and galaxies Answer: d. Formation of the first stars and galaxies [ad_2] What can the James Webb Space Telescope provide us as we head deeper into space? The James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) can provide us with groundbreaking discoveries of the universe as we explore deeper into space. It has already changed the way we think about the universe as a whole with its advanced capabilities. What are some of the mysteries that the James Webb telescope will help us solve? The JWST will help us solve mysteries by being able to see the formation of the first stars and galaxies due to its sensitivity in the infrared spectrum. This will be an incredibly exciting achievement and a major step forward in our understanding of the universe. What are some capabilities of the James Webb Space Telescope that surpass the Hubble Space Telescope? The James Webb Space Telescope has the capability to analyze the atmospheres of exoplanets and potentially discover oxygen in an atmosphere, which could resemble photosynthesis. It also has the ability to make discoveries about the origins of black holes and investigate signs of life in space.
