30 Days of Echor!

So as a way of hyping NSP's season two crowdfunding I thought it could be fun to do a 30 day challenge ...

How It Works - Each week has a theme and fitting within that theme are suggested prompts for OC creation and wide prompts for any and all things creative. I tried to make the prompts so that you can cross pollenate and use creative prompts for your OCs and vice versa if you'd like. Once you've finished your creation (be it writing, painting, a playlist for the canon universe or for your OC) post it on here with the tag #30DaysOfEchor and/or #EchorOCs - I'll be following both <3 Have fun, Beans!

You can do as much or as little as you want! You can do a prompt a day or you can do all the prompts in on one day or you can do one piece sticking with the weeks theme ignoring the prompts or you hype up everyone and reblog their pieces - who am I to tell you how to live!

Dungeon23 12feb hex 5,3 - the bursa?

This map of Zamość has been invaluable in building this block map of the city. It comes from much closer to 1630, the approximate date in my setting, and thus shows the city before it was conquered and its fortifications destroyed. Several of the major landmarks present in modern-day Zamość are also absent, as they haven’t been built yet. However, the map also presents a number of challenges. First and most obvious, rather than the now-conventional north=up, this map has south=up. Secondly, several of the buildings are labeled with early-modern Latin, the meanings of which are hard to find directly. Most are obvious - administratii, arx, collegium are not too different from their original meanings. Bursa and gielda, however, proved more challenging to understand. Bursa is Latin and is the root of bursar and purse. Gielda, however, is not Latin. Giełda is Polish, with an archaic meaning of guild and a contemporary meaning of stock exchange, which is also what burza means in Czech and Serbo-Croation (burza in Polish means storm). Each building is near a different city gate and important enough that they make the same list as the cathedral, palace, and college, but neither has been preserved or called out as noteworthy. The giełda makes sense as a guildhall, the headquarters for the (goyish) trade guilds. We’ll explore that more when we get to that block. The bursa/burza, however, poses more of a puzzle. A stock exchange doesn’t make a lot of sense: while Zamość is a locally-important city, it does not compare to a city like Amsterdam (where some contemporaneous stock trading was happening, mostly w/r/t the Dutch East India Company). Even if in actual 17th-century Zamość there was a stock exchange there, one doesn’t make sense in Nowa Polska. The location, right next to the city gate, is disadvantageous for a treasury for the ordynat or a bank. We’ll say the bursa is a building for the collecting and administration of taxes. Taxes in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth were controlled locally, varying from place to place. The bursa’s proximity to the Lublin Gate makes it easy to transport the fees collected at the gate to relative safety. Taxing authorities would not be based at the Zamoyski Palace, nor the Ratusz, and are not in the purview of the trade guilds, so a separate block for it makes a certain amount of sense. While the bursa is the focal point of the block, it is surrounded by more tenements that house middle- and lower-class burghers: older students at the Zamoyski Academy, tax collectors and administrators who work at the bursa, day laborers, and so on. A tavern here serves the locals and also offers lodging to the caravan hands passing through the Lublin Gate. This tavern, due to the diversity of patrons, has the best food of all the taverns in Zamość. Characters who eat here should get some small bonuses to health and healing due to the hearty and high-quality fare - a small reward for exploring the city, albeit one not available to characters that keep kosher. The folk here value good stories and good company but have little patience for blowhards and liars, and they’ve a good sense at sniffing both out. Characters who tell a good yarn, knowing how much to stretch the truth and when to do so, and also are a good audience for others’ tales will find it easy to make friends, and these friends might offer rumors from far-away places, news of incoming and outgoing caravans, or be available for hire.

We know y'all on this post but we don't know who else actually does know us so we should just state we (Rusanya) are essentially and functionally just, fully multiple, not median.

Haileys & Company gets kind of sketchy but still falls more multiple than median on the sliding scale of mediple, we don't know if y'all know this exactly but that was more of a starting name but Lia is one of them too and we have a Danielle and and Ella who are twins, and also Vivianne is there, etc.

Which means we can imagine why this wording trips everyone up and is the reason we put those links there. XD

The reason we so often use "we" is because we're usually acting as a gestalt because there are so many of us in this polyplex (Rusanya), or we're scared using "I" will discredit our multiplicity (so, singlet-influcted plurmisia) especially near a certain few folks we had to see on 12FEB of this year (2024 for future reference). -_-

This isn't to discredit anything that was said and talked of this is extremely amazing and we want it on our blog so we did rebagel but before complete randos out there ask us (Rusanya) if we're median we just wanna Say A Thing.

Hey Sophie, you've talked about your criteria/definition of plurality and I'm wondering your thoughts on pre-syscovery systems that don't use "we" or second person in their inner dialogues.

Our thoughts on how to kinda reconcile the "plurals don't use 'I' to refer to their other voices/thought processes" is that many plurals (like ourselves) were just using I "wrong". More accurately, "I" when referring to the self and "I" when referring to other voices or the collective are homonyms.

That's fair. I don't think pronouns are really the be-all end-all of being plural. Just a strong indicator. I think there are a bunch of systems that initially only use "I" pronouns to refer to the whole system. And intentionally choosing to use those pronouns isn't going to magically make one a singlet.

It's more about perspective.

It's about one agent feeling separated in some way from other agents they share the head with. (Even if they can't put words to those feelings.)

This feeling and perspective usually leads to different pronouns. But I don't think it's necessary.

Language doesn't define plurality. It's just a common way of expressing it. Using those types of pronouns in that way is absolutely not a requirement.

I'll also add that plurality is a spectrum, and I believe it's also possible for a part to not be separated before but become more separated later. Just like how separate agents can initially be divided, and later end up fusing into a single whole.
